Begin Log . . .

Something strange has begun to assail cart travelers that pass the western border of the Kingdom of Urguan's shoreline.  Reports of drowned human and dwarf alike rising up from the shadows of the murky, clouded water that has come to dominate this area.  This is an official travel warning and advisory to the following affected dwarven areas: Under-Kingdom of Urguan, Hefruum, Western Border Forts, Villas, Farmsteads, etc.  The Legion has been deployed to the Dead Coast two times so far in regards to these reports. The first time this deployment occurred is scribed below:

“Weh encountered fragile, feeble crittas’ tha’ were beat down easileh wit’ tha’ swing of meh hamma’.  Their numbers however... that’s what frightened tha’ men.

-Belgor, First Incursion to The Dead Coast.

Vodnik have been spotted by farming dwed after reports of an attack on the village Hefrumm's wheat wagons.  The Legion were deployed under orders from Commander Belgor when news reached the Legion Barracks of what had befallen the poor farming dwed in Hefrumm.  This was made as these wheat wagons have deliveries daily into the Under-Kingdom of Urguan.  To ensure no disruption of the food supply occurred, they assembled on the murky waters of the West to investigate.  Upon arrival they were assaulted by the same creatures now known as Vodnik, cleverly deduced by Xergarok Cottonwood, highest ranking Legionnaire on-scene before the arrival of Belgor’s squadron.  The bloated undead came at the legionnaires with surprise, nearly drowning three of the noble dwarves dispatched with their torrent of vile grey-water.  The Vodnik were beaten back at the rise of dawn, the rain ceased and the corpses burned.  It was a bloody, viscous battle with many wounds and ailments reported afterward in the Medical Ward according to Darinndrabor, Medical Staff on-duty at the time.  ██ ██████████ ███ █████ ██ ██████ ███████████ ███ ██████ ██ ███ ████ ████████ ██████.

“Tha’ second incursion... T'ese foks wore armor an’ used rusted steel  against us... Ah dunnae wot ah would du’ if not fer moi men.  Tha’ shield-wall dey ‘eld beh all tha’ saved us.”

-Belgor, Second Incursion to The Dead Coast.

The second time the Vodnik have been sighted, ███ ███████ ████ ███████ ████████ ████ ████████████ ███ ███████ ██ ████ ███████ ██████.  Another assault on the Dead Coast was reported by a frantic High Chief Beorn’s arrival to the Under-Kingdom in search of aide to repulse the foul beasts once more.  The Legion were dispatched under command by myself.  They faced lesser numbers but stronger, plated Vodnik.  It would seem their strategy was divide and conquer.  In order to cease their onslaught I led four stout dwarves into the frey and set ablaze a decaying whale carcass the rotted fiends were feasting upon.  They dispersed after the burning and the wheat wagons was escorted safely.  The second incursion was repulsed, their numbers routed through the coast.  I ensured the local populace began immediate construction of palisades bordering their local western fields.  A recommendation of a small bunker or tower was also mentioned with aide to be provided by The Legion in construction and funding costs.  ████ ████ ██ ██████████ ██ █████ ███ █████ ████ █████████ ██ ███ █████ ██ ███████ ███ ████ ████ ████████  ████ ███ ███ ██████ ██████ ███ ████ █████ █████ ███████████ ██ ██████ █████ ████ █████ ████ . We have dispatched additional Legionnaires to the nearby area of Hefrumm in case of surprise assault.

The Legion has opened a series of tasks to be completed to aide this troubled settlement in their time of need.  Those that show bravery and assist those when they need it most are truly the dwed that keep our great nation intact throughout the stone’s centuries.   You can find that ledger attached below:

The Dwarf that shows the most initiative and completes the most objectives posted to the Mission Board (Legion or Not) will earn a title along with his choice of a King-forged Hammer, Mace or Sword inside the Inner Vault.

What is causing this repeated assault is unknown by Legion High Command.  You will be briefed upon information as it develops through Belgor's Log as this is a developing situation. You may wish to join these events Mon, Wed, Fri 9 AM EST - 11:30 AM EST, The Legion is in dire need of assistance by all efforts of science, clergy, magic, runesmithing, blacksmithing, golemancy and warfare to combat these creatures of the foul taint attacking our coasts.  Be warned!  These creatures attack enmasse and normally smaller targets to overwhelm!  Do not approach alone or face certain annihilation!

After fitting her gauntlets, Lulu flexes her fingers and rolls her shoulders. Turning to the kitchen table, she lifts a sheathed aurum dagger and affixes it to her belt, before then moving to the door and fastening a kite shield to her arm. With a grin she then descends the city to assemble with other Legionnaires and claim her chance to slay some undead monsters too.

Hammers strike the forges deep in Irongutia. The clansmen work with speed but not dropping quality. The reports of the dead have raised a great vigor of the clan. Having a deep hatred of all undead, since the time of Herons betrayal, they ready themselves to arm the legion and send their warriors.

Xergarok would remember the bloodbath, the rotting corpses, the hands grabbing them from the sand. “Mae dah Brathmordakin goide us  like day once ‘ave” he nods to himself “Toime ter prepare, ter prepare for dah foinal stand. Ah ‘ave seen meh warriors minute an’ ah ‘ope tah feel et again.

Commander Jorvin Starbreaker broods over the document within his personal chamber, adjusting his spectacles periodically as he reads through the report. His brow furrows, and he scowls.

“Ah’ve not fought the Damned Warhosts of tha’ Neverborn jus’ ta’ see my home beset by corpses instead.”

Rising from his chair, he’d fold the spectacles before tucking them into a pocket of his coat. Turning from his desk to the far wall, Jorvin retrieves his old warhammer from it’s mount, and sets it upon his shoulder.

His writing could wait. There was a grudge in need of settling...

As Merrak Ireheart reads the missive, he smiles a toothy grin, going and getting the battle axe from under his bed “Narvok oz Urguan” he pauses for a moment, “Oi wul maek Papa Utak proud” he mutters, going out.
