A Duel For Honour

Recommended Posts

To my dishonorable brother Viathan Aleksandr Othaman,

For too long has your incompetence stained the legacy of our forebears.

The past years have proven you unworthy of not only the Othaman name, but also of the responsibility you were sadly born into. I can not sit idle as your status as heir to the County of Valles and our Good Grandfather continues to endanger the future of our House.

I do believe all could agree that a swift solution to this situation is long overdue. And thus I call upon you to resolve the matter as our Ancestors once would have.

You are hereby challenged to duel. As I would not go down in history as kin-slayer, regardless of my belief of you not being of true blood, the duel will be to first blood or yield. The losing party shall publicly renounce all claims and rights to the titles held by our Grandfather more specifically the County of Valles.

May the best man win.

Signed,

Kelhus Vladimir Othaman

Rightful heir to the County of Valles

Somewhere, a woman cackles through a grin as the petty squabbles between the Othaman boys continued. She found it irrational to duel for such title but continued on with her life while awaiting the outcome...

"So this is a duel to the death? For that is the only way to remove someone from the succession..." would remark as he read the title, "Ah, so they're trying to force them out." he'd state after reading the body of message, "Ambition! So ambitious. I hope that this ends without causalities." shaking his head that more blood was to be spilled not long after the war had ended.

"Othamans shall fight and blood shall be spilt. I have had enough of dancing about the various departments and administrations over this issue of succession."

"My ancestors never went to court whenever there was an issue to settle. Instead, they would fight until one surrendered. Why should this be any different?"

"Let the fight commence!" boomed the Count of Valles.

Spoiler

The lyrics are for aesthetic. I like mi song formatting.

♫"I watched Hamilton examine the terrain; I was shocked to tell you what was happening in his brain. This man is poisoned by political disputes!"♫

A man; that aforementioned Viathan, scrolled over the leaflet with a great disdain. His hands clenched the paper, tearing through it as his butler shied away. He shot them an apologetic stare, slowly rising up from his slump to set the fragments aside.

♫ "Most disputes die, and no one shoots!" ♫

A tear struck his cheek, stinging like a bead of acid scoring his flesh. His gaze panned up, as his hand ventured toward the side, sweeping the paper into the embers beside him.

"Godan . . . Guide me. Why does he do this to me?"

♫ "He examined his gun with such rigor. I watched as he methodically fiddled with the trigger." ♫

His memory strung back, back to the first trial his brother had roused to remove him. After a quick debate, the Lords had all ruled in his favor; undeniable, at least in his eyes, that he was their rightful heir. That looming man wept and fell onto both knees before the altar, viciously shaking both clasped hands toward the altar. A prayer reverbated on each wall of the chasm.

"The Lord ruleth me, I’ll not want. He makes me down to lie, in pastures green: He leadeth me, the quiet waters by. For though I should walk in the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil. Thy rod and Thy staff, they hath been a comfort to me."

♫ "I had only one thought before the slaughter."  ♫

♫ "THIS MAN WILL NOT MAKE AN ORPHAN OF MY DAUGHTER!"  ♫

Viathan's expression hardened. He wiped the woe from his face, and shakily rose with the help of his wife, @ncarr Mary.

"He won't have my mercy, not this time. Only GOD will show him that."

Big man Rorislav balled his fists as his Nephew sent out the letter.

"Da, Othaman am House of Warriors. This should have been first solution, rather than petty squabbles in court.."

He spoke only for a moment, before starting a bootcamp to prepare his Nephew Kelhus for his upcoming battle.

Natalie Beaumont reads the missive over before neatly placing it in the drawer of her desk. “Neither of these idiots are fit to hold any position. If you behave like this the only thing you’re a rightful heir to is family stupidity.” She commented to a painting of her mother like she was having a conversation with the object. “Perhaps it would be best if they both died in this duel...”
