The Conclave of Eû-Ras

 


 

To the far Eastern vales of the Almarisian continent, beyond the wave-lapped sands of the western shores, there lies an ivory spire — one which claws to the very heavens in hopes to reach the gods. This divine citadel, a final refuge of the noble arcane, stood to embody the hopes of descendant-kind to reach the seat of the gods. Many come here seeking enlightenment, whether they be some roaming scholar, weary knight, or cloistered monk, each taking solace in the gleaming light of Eû-ras. 

 

Purpose

In ages past there were but many assemblies and councils of scholars and magi, uniting under single banners to pool their knowledge and scry the utmost potential for wisdom from their own arts. Alas, many failed to apply them in any prudent manner, instead growing fat and arrogant upon their arts as they watched the world around them wane. Such is the mission for which the Spire of Eû-Ras was wrought — to preserve the wisdom of the ancient magi and apply it to the defense of the modern realm. 

 

Philosophy

The mission of Eû-Ras, as aforementioned, is the collection and preservation of magical wisdom, as well as its application. Primarily, those of Eû-Ras seek to preserve the Marble City of Ando Alur, applying their various sorceries and artificeries as a means of defense for those who would seek refuge within its white walls. Make no mistake, however, for the practice of any magic or art is not an idle one, and those who take up the path of Eû-Ras must fully follow through with her own simple tenets.

 

  • i. The Void is both fickle and formidable, an ally and an enemy. Its arts should not be used nonchalantly and only when truly in need to preserve the Conclave.
  • ii. We preserve knowledge, not give it away. Those who know our secrets would do well not to share them with the outside world, lest all mystery be moot.
  • iii. Blood should not be spilt through magic if avoidable. A man who is not a sorcerer should only die by the sword, not by some conjured spell.
    • iiiA. Two magi who will themselves to a duel may consign to use spells, though a magi should not use magic upon a non-magi to cause harm if possible.  
  • iv. Sorceries which consign one’s soul to another being should be shunned, if not outright persecuted, for they jeopardize our independence as descendantkind.
  • v. In line with the fourth tenet: the spirit is to be preserved above all else. Do not deign to let any art or artificery taint one’s own spirit for power.

 

 

Hierarchy

The Conclave of Eû-Ras partakes of a certain social structure that dictates power and influence within the guild. Though all members are seen as partakers of knowledge, those who have proved themselves to be exceptionally skilled in the Arcane arts may be privy to higher secrets and activities of the guild. In order to rise within the Conclave, one must have proven themselves to be worthy of both admiration and be a capable scholar within the eyes of the High Praetor and the Maralier. 

 

High Praetor — The Archmage and leader of the Conclave, charged with overseeing all of its projects and the occasional instruction of newer members. 

 

Maralier — Powerful and scholarly mages who have proven themselves as valuable members of the Conclave and thus are charged with managing projects and members.

 

Adherent — A fully-fledged member of the Conclave who is valued for their contribution of knowledge and their scholarly pursuits. They typically fulfill projects of the Conclave.

 

Aspirant — One who seeks admission into the Conclave but has not yet been validated or proven their worth to the assembly. Typically taken under the wing of an Adherent.

 

 

Admission

Those who partake of our council must offer some knowledge by which they may be admitted into the Guild, for none may receive without first giving. Scripts, tomes, and antique artificeries may all be fitting for those seeking entry, though more potent relics and devices may allow for greater favor. The next step to seeking admission is to achieve the approval of three guild members, who must each write a letter recommending oneself to the guild. Such should be personal and describe your own talents, affinities, and what would make you fit to partake of the light of Eû-Ras. 

 

Those accepted will partake of many quests, expeditions, and other missions, as well as the delving of rites and liturgies of arcane nature. However, know that those who fall stagnant in the pursuit of knowledge shall be cast out like dust under one’s feet, for we do not harbor those who idly slumber upon begotten wisdom.

- This guild accepts applicants of all walks of scholarly life so long as they remain active and offer interesting/beneficial roleplay to those within the guild. Though primarily centered around magic, the guild is more so a scholarly one, dabbling in anything that would be considered worldly knowledge, such as alchemy, philosophy, or other secrets of the world. The guild’s ideology and philosophy are a constant work in progress and are always being updated in character, allowing for a more unique facet of Arcane roleplay for those interested.

 

- When looking to achieve the letters of recommendation from guild members, please do so in-character. While it’s fine to arrange a time to meet OOCly, we do encourage that you actively roleplay with members of the guild before joining to get an overall feel of the overall role-play style and progress the story in character. 

 

- Do keep in mind that this is not at all a means to learn magic if you are searching for it, and while members of the guild may take their own students privately, we do not endorse nor promote any unique program for instructing aspirants of magic. Asking or pestering about such OOCly may result in one's removal from the guild after multiple offenses.
