Dearest readers,

The children of the Augustine Palace thank you for showing interest in the hottest gossip column; written, designed and managed entirely by us palace children.. With this column, we hope to provide a window into life at court during the Orenian Social Season while we eagerly await our own debuts. We hope also to encourage more people to get involved in the affairs of the Social Season. So, without further delay, we welcome you to the final column of The Petite Potins… which, quite simply, means ‘the little gossip.’

THE CLOSING MASQUERADE

---------------------➴☼➶---------------------

The Duke and Duchess of Cathalon with their firstborn at the masquerade. Note the blue flower brooches worn; see ‘Rosemoor Convention’.

Miss Maude Fitzpeter and Prince Antonius Share a Dance

It came as quite a shock to these writers that Miss Maude and her rumored flexian suitor shared a dance at the season’s closing fête, seeing as the couple’s relationship thus far has been quite precarious... While it seems that the Vilachian Prince’s marriage to his estranged wife Tatiana Ruthern is nearing its legal end, we cannot help but note that the foreign Prince is still married. Though we writers admire Miss Maude and wish her luck in her love story, we can only hope that the Haeseni people will accept her given the turmoil surrounding her relationship with their Prince.

Anton and Adeline at Odds

It seems that Anton d’Amato-Orlov and Lady Adeline d’Azor, once a dashing young couple, have had a (hopefully) temporary lapse in their courtship. The two were spotted looking rather cross with one another at the Countess Renzfeld’s masquerade. These writers are unaware exactly what has caused this disquiet in their relationship, but we wonder if the other d’Azors, specifically brother Joseph, haven’t budged their way into the relationship as we saw happen in the Chateau de Rosius ball.

An International Altercation

Lord Olivier Renault, Maisie d’Arkent, Tatiana Ruthern and Robert Ludovar got into quite the argument about Maude Fitzpeter and associated matters, only possible by the Haeseni visitation. Olivier suddenly spilled his wine on Robert, akin to the early shenanigans of Lord Adrian Lothar in the season. In return, Robert spit at the Savoyard! Then ensued an exchange of insults bordering on a defamation of the other’s masculinity, Olivier Renault’s wig being wrenched from his head in the chaos! Almost in tandem, Maude and Tatiana began spitting insults at each other, but were eventually cooled down by the assistance of Antonius’s intervention. The Vilacs then proceeded to hide away their public argument into private chambers… We imagine it was another among countless conversations about their tumultuous marriage.

The Engagement of Miss Philippa Fitzpeter and Lord Joseph D’Azor

A Masquerade Proposal.

At the closing masquerade ball, Miss Philippa donned shared garb with Lord Joseph d’Azor, as the theme stated. They were one of the only couples proudly showcasing their courtship, but soon their courtship evolved into something greater… an engagement! Lord d’Azor presented Philippa a public and extravagant engagement, with a hefty ring. Hopefully the gems don’t weigh down her hand too much. We hope the best for this pair, and we look forward to their wedding in the coming months!

A Pruvia Pull-In

Lady Anne Adelheid wore a beautiful gown to today's masquerade, but we aren’t here to talk about dresses. During the fighting occurring in the middle of the dance floor, Lady Anne Adelheid took the chance to swoop in and continue her ploy for duchess. She and the heir to Sunholdt seemed to be having quite a friendly conversation, even though at the last ball, they were warned about public appearances by Lady Maisie. The d’Arkent Dukes are known to be cursed when it comes to marriage in one way or another. Perhaps this time around the curse is deeper love between cousins?

A REVIEW OF THE COUPLES

---------------------➴☼➶---------------------

Miss Helena Rochefort and Adrian de Sarkozy

Miss Helena Rochefort has shown us romantic pieces throughout the Season, capturing the attention of Adrian de Sarkozy. Even before such, in their youth, did they spend much time together. It does not shock us that these two love birds ended up together. We cannot wait for our invitations to the wedding!

Lady Adeline d’Azor and Anton D’Amato-Orlov

Lady Adeline and Anton had been many readers’ favorite couple for some time, but it seems the couple has fallen upon hard times, despite the season coming to a close! Miss d’Azor and Mister Anton have grown fairly apart ever since we last saw them with their shocking scandal when they attended the de Rosius Estate Ball. It seems maybe their relationship can be saved by someone from a third party...

Lady Octavia de Sarkozy and Borys Jazloviecki

Even though the rumors around Lady Octavia’s sister’s spiral, it seems this Lady did not let it ruin her chances. Towards the end of the masquerade, it was confirmed that Lady Octavia de Sarkozy and Borys Jazloviecki were a couple! They complement each other beautifully and seem quite smart together. We feel so happy for them.

Miss Philippa Fitzpeter and Lord Joseph d’Azor

At the beginning of the season, it seemed that the pair were immediately matched to each other. The d’Azor heir was smitten with Miss Philippa as we had seen right away, and they were inseparable ever since. They had been seen with each other on multiple occasions outside of the specified Social Season agenda, and eventually found themselves to become engaged at the Season’s end. Truly the perfect Imperial couple, and one of our favorites in the Season.

Lady Louise Antoinette Halcourt and Lord Henry Draskovic-Kovachev

A couple which seemed to appear out of the blue. As the rumors around Lord Henry spread, and it seems his luck was running out, then Lady Louise appeared like an angel. The couple are sweet together - yet we are Petite Potins, are worried for the poor lady! It is true this marriage will save face, but shall Lord Henry’s rumors become true? As we write, we see the lord with Lady Helena de Sarkozy! We can only wish the couple luck.

THE LADIES’ MOVEMENT

---------------------➴☼➶---------------------

Last month, the city of Providence was stirred by a pro-Rosemoor Bill protest led by Duchess Leopoldine of Cathalon and Aimee, Dowager Countess of Dobrov. Protestors donned a blue flower brooch, the new symbol of the ladies’ liberation movement that was first worn by the youths of the palace. The blue flower has become synonymous with the movement and is meant to represent purity and intelligence, both traits held unequivocally by Orenian women.

Maria Charlotte de Rosius, Mayor of Providence.

In attendance was also the new lady mayor, Maria Charlotte de Rosius, who was stopped on the street and made to say a few words:

"I support the Rosemoor bill all the way. Hardworking, honest, and intelligent women deserve a chance to prove their worth. I may have gotten into my office with the help of my family, but I will do everything I can to teach the next generation that women should not be underestimated. I believe wholeheartedly that girls can be as intelligent as the young men who have inherited titles for generations. Girls may not be as resilient physically, but mentally we are a force to be reckoned with and it is my great honor to support a bill that will pave the way for women to take the titles of their forebears and wear them with honor and pride as so many men have before them."

We should aspire to make these words a foreshadowing of the future!

THE COURT MAGE IN TRAINING

Helena Charlotte Rochefort.

Not only do we have a new mayor, but a new role model for the future! Since Helena Rochefort’s entrance into Orenian society, we’ve been blessed with many decorous piano pieces to celebrate Orenian nationalism, but beyond that, we’re also gifted a glimpse into the further liberation of stateswomen in Providence. A capable youth, Helena has already been chosen to become the future Imperial Court Mage, one of premier mages of the empire and a key member of the Emperor's court. She has heretofore showcased immense bravery, even blockading an arrow meant to assassinate one: Vesna Carrion Tuvyic. Her efforts have solidified her personality as among the most stalwart of the season, and of Oren. As it stands, she is a powerhouse of the ladies’ movement!

POTINS

---------------------➴☼➶---------------------

THE NEWEST PEER: COUNTESS ALEXANDRA

Early last saint’s day, tragedy struck in the Municipality of Dobrov with the sudden death of Count Sigismund Chekhov and the disappearance of Count Franz Nikolai after his declaration that he was a mage. For our readers, it is illegal to inherit a peerage if you are a mage! The title was passed to his firstborn daughter, the ten year old Alexandra Karenina of Woldzmir, now the first female Count of Dobrov.

THE RECONDITE RUBY

We expected the ruby of all people enjoying the ball, dancing, and announcing who she is courting. Yet, none of that happened. Instead, Lady Juliya and Sir Anthony found their way into the courtyard and talked for many hours. This only leaves us to speculate about why? Is it because Baron Wilhelm is gone? Or perhaps she couldn’t find a match good enough for her? We at the Petite Potins choose to believe Sir Anthony is simply a good friend, considering he is sisters with Maude and Philippa! One wonders the veracity of such, however...

THE PAINTING CONTEST

A depiction of Holy Ser Edwin by Lady Cecilya L.

Lady Maisie, earlier in the season, hosted a painting contest, and after that we, the ladies at Petit Potins, looked over all the portraits. While many were elegantly done in the time frame, Lady Cecilya’s shined through. The colors of this piece captured the Holy knight well, even getting the direction of the scars correct! Quite impressive!

The founders of the Potins: Claude Elisabeth Ashford de Savoie (10) and Alina Isidora Basrid (11).

It is with great sadness that we draw this pamphlet to a close. We writers have found great bonds with one another and with the courtiers of Providence throughout this season as a result of Petite Potins, and we have had great fun reporting the events of the season. We realize that, at times, we drew criticism for our harsh judgements of some of the Ladies we discussed, but we want to remind our readers that it was all in good spirits; we had no intentions of seriously harming the reputations of any of our subjects of writing. We want to thank our readers for the fervent support and kind words. However, we’re proud to announce that after a year long of fundraising amidst the social season, the Imperial Children’s Organization has successfully raised 300 mina from their bake sale for the Church of Canon. Any last minute donations may be sent to Lady Anastasya Ruthern ((Eryane)) before the mina is given to the church, but the success of the fundraiser is forever attributed to our dear readers. We love you, and will cherish this joint experience for decades to come. With that, the children of Petite Potin bid you adieu.

Philippa Fitzpeter tucked herself into the closing article of Petite Potins. A wide smile formed onto her lips while looking across the table to her fiancée. "Lovely, this season has been extremely fruitful." She stated with blissful countenance, musing to Joseph d'Azor. "I suppose my tailoring skills contributing to this 'title'?" A jesting tone was held, closing the tabloid with a hum in thought. "I do hope our future children do not get criticized much and find love as well!"

Philippa Fitzpeter approached her sister Maude giving a nod to her triplet sister. "This season has been full of difficulties and turmoil's, but it has now ended. Our lives continue dear sister!" She gave an assurance to Maude, allowing for a content look on her visage.

Nikoleta Barbara would put down her crayons, sighing out as she had finished her final drawing. "I am done with art." the youth would chirp, pushing away the used box.

Maisie d'Arkent cackled at the sight of her name once more in a Petite Potins. "It was bonding time!" she'd cheer out to her dearest friends.

Joseph d'Azor smiled as he read the last edition of the gossip column sitting across from his fiancée, letting out a breath as he looked to her with a chuckle "Well my love, it seems we won the perfect couple after all!" He beamed to the woman. "And who knows? Perhaps we will see our own children within the columns in the future?" He mused to her closing the gossip papers... for now...

Alina Basrid sat in the gardens of the Augustine with her best friend and co-author Claude Ashford de Savoie, the girls watching wistfully as the final copies of Petite Potins were distributed. "Bittersweet, is it not?" She muttered, holding her own copy of the final issue close to her heart.

Anne Adelheid sat at Provins, continuing her studies as a Medic when a servant had entered her room handing her a fresh copy of Petit Potins. The Pruvia sat there observing the column eventually coming across the paragraph that was focus upon her. As furious as she was about what had been said about her, she'd rumple the pamphlet throwing it onto the ground, going back to her studies. "People need to learn to keep their nose out of others business." She murmured to herself.

Philip Amadeus watches blankly as his tutors burn all copies of Petite Potins that they find. They tell the young prince that reading these articles are the quickest way to reach hell.

"Sister, I'm not going to lie to you, this Season was truly something else." Maude Fitzpeter said in accordance with her sister, Philippa, reading the title in specific. 'All Good Things Must Come to an End'. And she wondered if this Season was truly good for her. She hoped her sister could read her thoughts.

Louise Antoinette Halcourt read over the third gossip column, which then accumulated upon her writing-desk with the others. Louise looked across her bedchamber to the mannequin holding up her wedding gown which bore a long, pink train.

Her face was blank.

"It's all gossip... hah.. worried for me... worried.." She'd mutter after taking the stack of missives, tossing them into the fireplace and placing the cast iron door over the hearth.

After buying a new, red-silk mantua gown and changing into the frock, she'd fly down the stairs to the awaiting tea service in her parlor.

Diana d’Azor would sigh with a small smile as she read the last bit of the missive. Well, quite the missive. I hope that the children of the palace continue their writing work as I always awaited their writings with pleasure. Seeing all the new couples, I wish them the best of luck. I hope my dearest Joseph and Philippa have an amazing wedding soon.. May GOD guide us all in our future.”

Tatiana Ruthern departed the Augustine Palace, ditching the usual sullen expression she wore throughout this entire Season to instead don a relieved simper with her copy of the article held loosely within her gloved grasp. "Indeed.. they do," she'd comment to herself as she regarded the articles title.

The recondite ruby in question draws a theatrical hand to her forehead, collapsing onto her bed and drawing the canopy-curtains to a close. "Finally, a good nights rest" she commented with a grin to her dear Aunt Helena. "But then tomorrow we must begin wedding preparations!"
