HIS HOLINESS EVERARD VI, High Pontiff of the Church of the Canon, Archbishop of Visigia, Successor of the High Priesthood of the Church, Supreme Pontiff of the Church of True Faith, Keeper of the Canon, Missionary to Aeldin, High Servant to the Exalted's Testaments, Humble Servant of the Faithful and Vicar of GOD. Most Beloved Brethren, Health and Pontifical Benediction. It brings Us great sorrow when any harm befalls a member of Our flock, even more so when that individual has dedicated their life in service of God. To join the clergy is a sacred calling, one given by God Himself, and brings with it great challenges in the world alongside great rewards in the Seven Skies. All clergymen carry with them an understanding that spreading the Holy Scrolls is a dangerous task, chiefly when one brings God’s message to people living in pagan lands, yet accept this risk knowing the importance of what they do, and the greater reward they shall have in the next life. None of Our flock ought to expect harm when travelling through Canonist land, walking along roads protected by Canonist men and women. We Ourselves travel with no guard when walking through the desert of Savoy, the Winterlands of Haense, or the green fields of Oren. We find that one is not required when surrounded by brothers and sisters under God. Truly, the fraternal love between Canonists has kept Us safe for Our entire Pontificate, and We expect the same for Our clergy. Yet, We were troubled to hear that members of Our clergy, including Our Cardinals, have been threatened by members of the Clan Ireheart in Urguan. These threats came to a climax four Saint’s days ago, when Our Holy Knights were forced to draw swords on two of the aggressors who had threatened men of the cloth. This incident has been denied by the aggressors, yet We have heard it from the mouths of Our Cardinals and Apostolic-General, who serve no one but God and Us as His Vicar. We stand by their words, and place Our full trust in their account. We issue this letter to condemn Clan Ireheart for their aggressions against peaceful servants of God. We remind Canonist vassals sworn to Urguan that oaths of loyalty made to pagans who attack clergymen are worthless, and free you from your shackles of subjugation. Remember that you share more in common with Canondom than you do with your dwarven overlords: faith, ancestry, blood. To all of Canondom, pray that bloodshed may be averted and that no Canonist lives may be lost, be they soldiers, farmers, or clergy. Pray that the Peace of God which We declared may continue and war be prevented. To those who would raise arms against fellow Canonists, know that eternal damnation awaits you, for you have chosen worldly desires over a shared brotherhood under God. Let all things be done for the furtherment of God's will, which is Peace, Mercy, and Love. Written in and published from the Basilica of Bl.
