The Duchy of Adria’s legacy was born in Athera from the warriors of the ancient Canonist League in war against Schismatics. The humble faith of the Raevir has always been a foundational principle to the Adrian folk. It was in close cooperation with the Holy Church that Adria was restored, and it was a shameful result of poor politics that it came to be at odds. 

 

Most notable to this deteriorating relationship was the Excommunication and later trial of the abdicated Duke Heinrik Otto Sarkozic, which later led to the Battle of Two Steeples. These events infuriated the folk of Adria, who felt they had been given no credible explanation of the wrongdoings of Heinrik or any sort of communication beyond unfounded condemnation despite their consistent public condemnation of Azdrazi and invitation for the Church’s inquisition.

 

It is in spite of all this scandal, Adria seeks resolution; there can only be one Holy Church. The Duchy of Adria welcomes with open arms cooperation with the Church.

 

It is for such a reason that Markus Marie Sarkozic had been appointed to the position of Chancellor of the Duma; to aid the Duke Johanes van Aert in the hardening of Adria’s spirit. Before his appointment, the Count of Aldersberg traveled across the realms speaking to Canonist Princes and clergy learning for the sake of Adria and at the Duke’s orders the reasons of suspicion against the many houses. Those who stir scandal within the ranks of Adria and threaten the integrity of its citizens and Duma shall be held accountable by the Duke.

ON HOUSES OF SCANDAL,

 

House von Draco had historically conspired repeatedly against Canondom alongside the Azdrazi. During the reign of Johanes, they had members disobey orders of the Duke which indicated an intense bloodlust that went against his Code of Conduct. As the Ducal Coronet increased its investigations into these matters, the von Dracos began to rapidly diminish from the realm and their title fell into abeyance. All members of the house are compelled to clear their name with the Ducal Crown and Church before any potential reassimilation.

 

Accusations of a similar nature have been levied against House Vilac of Veleç, whose status has since been stripped after their majority disappearance. The last Vilac Matriarch Emerentia Vilac has sought to resolve such scandal and has entered into a monastic life as a nun, sworn to none but GOD. In such action let the legacy of House Vilac of Veleç be freed from both suspicion or succession in Adria. Should any members appear, they are expected to likewise clear their name with the Ducal Crown and Church due to the actions of many Vilacs amongst the realm conspiring against the Church and consorting with Azdrazi. 

 

ON THE CANONS REGULAR,

 

Jonathan of the Canons Regular and his followers within House Mogg are not by appointment, blessing, or consideration of any kind the Church of Adria. There can only be one Church of Adria, which is the Holy Church of the Canon. On this matter, the High Pontiff has commented “We understand mistakes are made and intentions do not always reflect the outcome, and committed to a peaceful outcome”, so a resolution is expected. Jonathan is hereby summoned to explain the situation before the Ducal Court so that it may mediate between him and the Holy Church.

 

ON HEINRIK OTTO SARKOZIC,

 

The restorer Heinrik Otto Sarkozic is expected to resolve with the Church should he return to Adria, for no man excommunicated will have any legacy to preserve. It is the trust of the Ducal Coronet that should he return, he would be offered a true chance of redemption if presented in true humility. His memory is not struck from the record; his deeds both great and flawed shall be remembered in unison. Let all virtuous Canonists pray for his own reconciliation.
