Having been isolated for so long, the Aeltarosi have developed their own Religion, Culture, Language, and social system that makes them unique to the rest of Humankind. Believing in the Legacy of Maenor, the Aeltarosi believe that their homeland was unified by a man of the Valraenos bloodline who managed to befriend a dragon and subdue their enemies. While this story is considered mythical by outsiders, it has given rise to a strongly-rooted religion on Aeltarys that has dominated their history and their drive to strike out into the world. In the last few decades, a man named Maegor Valeraenos has led his band of supporters away from the now-ruined land of Aeltarys and arrived on the descendant-inhabited land of Failor. After arriving on this strange new land and interacting with the local descendant Humans, the Aeltarosi built up their own camp-city and have taken great strides in attempting to establish a homeland for their people. After the migration from Failor to Aevos, the Aeltarosi have been struggling to find a home of their own. Yet, under the leadership of Maegor Valraenos, the Aeltarosi have once again decided to take fate into their own hands. In what is called The Aeltarosi Expedition, Maegor and his followers struck out Northwards to find uninhabited lands to call their own. With perseverance and pride the Aeltarosi have discovered an Island that they now wish to call their own, and have dubbed it as “Dragonclaw Island”. Settlement Government Structure Explanation: The government of the Principality is what one would call a feudal meritocracy, though there are special aspects that are custom to the Aeltarys and the Aeltarys alone. Aboveall, like any place, is the Crown. This consists of the Grand Prince or Grand Princess and their Consort, and their children. When it comes to heirship, it is not one decided by the firstborn, gender or at birth but instead one decided later in the childrens life. It is during this time the prospective children may do varying meritorious actions, such as government work, working in the guardforce or other notable ventures for the Principality. Once they reach a point the parents, and current Monarchs believe is a good one, they will decide upon the Principalities heir based on the talent, skill and dedication shown to their people. Following that is the Grand Princes council, consisting of a Lord or Lady Steward who’s job is to oversee the treasury of the Principality and its property alike. Following that is the Lord or Lady Commander who is in charge of the military, hiring on and training recruits alike and keeping an eye on the Rigle families levies. Next on our list is the Head Architect who oversees the building of property, and expanding to new land. Fourth in line is the All-Seer, who is above that of the Scaleseers and handles all matters of religion and faith in the Principality. The last of the Princes Council is the Lord or Lady Diplomat who is in charge of the Principalities pacts and diplomatic ventures. What is special about the aforementioned above is the challenge system based around the Factions mentioned previously in the lore section. One such example is that those of the council may be in varying factions, and say a Purist diplomat under the Lord or Lady diplomat is go to a meeting with a foreign nation, an Integrationist diplomat may institute a challenge in which if they win, they may attend the meeting instead and gain a merit for their household. [Merits having been touched on in the Aeltarosi Nobility mentioned in the lore above]. After that of the Grand Princes Council, you have what is considered the Grand Princess Council, or more specifically the Court of Orbar. It has a four-tiered system, which is touched on in the lore section above. While it has some similarities to the everyday Aevos courts, there are certain changes to roles or entirely new ones that make the courts of its own variety. The next on the totem pole while a bit of a gray area in the government, is the Purist and Integrationist factions. Their feuds and challenges are what directs the route that the Principality takes most of all, as each group wishes to keep to a standard; old traditions or embracing the new. With how the factions are set-up, they handle a majority of old and new faces alike to the Principality and their movements drive a portion of the activity and RP alike. Settlement Builds and Infrastructure (photos required): Spoiler The Undercity entrance: The Throneroom: How does this settlement offer a unique niche not already found in an existing polity on the server?: This settlement differs in the way that it takes on an entirely different class, nobility system and even that of religion. The majority of the LOTC human settlements and nations are Canonist, with primarily the same sort of class and nobility system across the board. With our settlement, you do not see Barons and Viscounts but instead an entire class of nobility deemed the Rigle, who are granted the one title and anything else from there is rewarded or taken away based on merits or demerits. The religion is unique to the Aeltarosi as well. They do not follow Canonism, the Red Faith, or any other established LOTC religion. Instead, they follow a faith based on the belief that the Bloodline of Valraenos and Dragons are both sacred and even intertwined. The founder of the Valraenos Dynasty as it is known today, Maenor Valraenos, is believed in the Faith to have mounted a dragon known as Aganor and conquered their homeland with it. While there is no hard evidence of this occurring and it is widely believed by outsiders to be a myth, the Aeltarosi believe that they have a connection to Dragons nonetheless. They deem that Dragons may not be harmed by any adherents of the Faith, and they have even been known to protect Dragons and Dragon eggs before. Another aspect of the religion is ancestor prayer, as it is believed that in times of strife your ancestors can grant you the ability to persevere and triumph. While the class system may seem strange to some, it is done in the way that there are so few Aeltarosi, and presses great importance on the family units that do come from their unions. Alongside this the concept of divorce does not even remotely exist in the culture, as what is more permanent than a wedding tattoo? [The wedding tattoo through the ribbon ceremony is touched on previously in the lore section under Aeltarosi weddings]. How does your settlement tie to the greater lore and narrative set by the community on LotC?: The Aeltarosi ties into the greater lore and narrative set by the community on LOTC by indulging in the ability to carve out your own history and leave your own mark on the server. Although the Aeltarosi are new to LOTC, they have the chance to interact with and even influence other nations and players over time. It’s a community that has been built up gradually by a group of friends who have a love for a similar niche and has evolved into something that not even the founders imagined. We tie into the narrative by showing new coming players that if you have an idea, LOTC is a great place to implement it. Have you ever run a settlement on LoTC before and what experience do you have with leadership within roleplay communities among the current groups of players?: I have ran a handful of settlements before, as have others in the leadership of the Aeltarosi. My own experience with leadership involves the creation of the Hyspians (who are still around today as a cultural group) which has definitely had its own impact on the server, regardless of the size of said impact. The creation of the Hyspians allowed for people like me to feel like we have an outlet for our own culture while we play on LOTC and the ability to spread it with other people. I also have experience with being the King of Norland, which introduced me to the trials and tribulations of being a Nation leader.
