Reckless Banzai Screamer 15456 Share Posted April 9, 2025 2 hours ago, Ryfin Chany said: Loxy put a lot of my feelings into words. I get that some people want this server to be GoT levels of politics and backstabbing, but LOTC is named Lord of the Craft for a reason. It’s inspired by Tolkien’s style of fantasy, a mix of wonder and awe with gritty harsh reality countered by the intricate facets of human nature that ultimately allows good to prevail, despite the magic slowly fading. Does the server feel anywhere near how it was intended to feel when it was created? That’s a question the people who’ve been here longer than me have the answers to, I’m just the relatively new guys perspective. Boomer here, LOTC (at least Human RP) has been heavily influenced by Game of Thrones since it reached its peak in like 2012-2013 (before my time). Not wholly but you get a lot of the intrigue and influence of a peerage from GoT. Perhaps a lot of characters you play got to exist because of events that have been going on and on because of this type of roleplay. LOTC was never fully Tolkien influenced save for like Wandering Wizard and the base descendants that have evolved into their own thing. There’s a lot of good to come with the bad of roleplay conflict. You don’t have to participate in that stuff but you gotta find what role play niches you like and seek those out. When I got bored of GOT larp I role played a LECTAAAAH and found enjoyment on the server that way. It’s unfortunate to be on the losing side of a GoT tier scheme or war but after you’ve been on the server awhile you’ll likely be on the winning and losing side multiple times. The best advice I could give from what I learned myself over time is to take with a grain of sand, detach personally and even just take a break after to find inspiration for something new to role play. The one thing I will cede to though is the OOC all around these GoT larps that’s been an issue since the inception of this sort of roleplay that only now recently has been frowned upon. The OOC drama is lame and no one should be made to feel they’re unwelcomed here unless they’re like a genuine weirdo breaking our rules and player safety concerns. Much love and hope that those that feel similar to you find some peace in the current situation.
Epicethan4 948 Share Posted April 9, 2025 I disagree with your post, but I believe all the points that have been made against it, have been made, so im not going to focus on that. I wanna say that I'm sorry that you feel that life is depressing and boring. You're absolutely spot on that this server is used for escapism, and I hope that some day you do not deem life as 'depressing' and 'boring.'

I think lotc should stop cater towards lowtier google translate rp where an american butchers a european language because "we are fantasy x nation". I believe that the niche rp communties like dwarves should reform to a state where female community members are not ostracized for wanting a more relaxed rp enviroment where it is not just "we kill others or ourselves". The lotc community is not welcomming to even the people who try to be better at rp. But alas I have quiet quit already and now I will return to where I belong. _Sheylo_ 1177 Share Posted April 9, 2025 The main take away from this post; "You don't play your character, others play your character. Being ST makes you the main character and gives you insane RP privileges. No, you aren't allowed to complain about anything, even if it is valid. No, you can't form anything meaningful, **** you. 🖕"
ScreamingDingo 20568 Share Posted April 9, 2025 You guys are actually nuts if you think werewolf's character is anything ST endorsed or anything that isn't just him roleplaying a CA LOL. Most ST can't even get people to accept consequences in events, let alone help demolish 5 or so nations under their thumb. Take a break and learn to lose, might be nice to have people adapt to difficulty in roleplay to become more resilient in their stories and therefore their reception to all kinds of roleplay. Empire might be devastating for many, but the numbers don't lie if it is a large group of players advocating for this change. You can't win a warclaim with a single ST figurehead who plays a normal character.
sergisala 3451 Share Posted April 9, 2025 I think that I understand what you're trying to say because I myself felt frustrated too when the former nations I played in were destroyed in the roleplay, and precisely for that I have to completely disagree with you. Yes, losing a war can be a terrible experience but, at the same time it can lead to many new fun opportunities in the roleplay, as long as you have the right attitude to approach them. For example, instead of simply lamenting and mourning the loss of your nation, you could put that very same energy in joining the new nations that arise from the outcome of this war. If the former nation in which you played was fun for you, you could actually try to improve these new nations by having them include the features that made your former nation so much enjoyable for you and the rest of your friends and I am sure that you will end up having fun in the long term. Basically, take a moment to reflect on the doors that open from the outcome of the war and look at the bigger picture. If you do that, I am confident that you will manage to make new friends in the way and enjoy the server's roleplay in the long term! :) Also, sometimes taking a break from the server after these game-changing wars can also be a very refreshing way to recover your energy to come back with the right attitude to enjoy the new roleplay. LoxyTheReindeer 356 Author Share Posted April 9, 2025 A lot of people have commented something along the lines of "just detach from it personally and go enjoy the new rp being made" and that misses part of the point I was trying to make. Because I can't do that- and this was an issue way back in the war on the East. Attempting to start over, make something new, move on, etc, is being met with attempts to force people into one nation or niche or style that benefits the current winning party. I currently am trying to make my own nation, directly as a result of this war, and I'm already being told that multiple nations want to war us the moment we get nation status. I'm not naming names- I don't want to start a witchhunt- but understand that the sentiment "just move on" isn't exactly helpful when a lot of people won't let us. When the rp we want and are trying to pursue is nearly impossible to find underneath all the conquest driven rp, if not actively dying due to it. And the "consequences of roleplay"? Some of these nations didn't become ruins or history lessons in rp- they simply ceased to exist. Re-pasted over as if they were never built. Dunwen and Silasia off the top of my head. And for everyone mentioning ooc toxicity- that is a problem and a valid point, but not the one I was trying to make. The point I was trying to make is that regardless of who is right or wrong, of who wins or loses, when people start leaving because they feel like it's impossible to enjoy the server anymore, there is a serious problem. And it's not a small demographic- it's more and more people every day. Yes, maybe we are the minority. Or maybe we've all just left already. At this point, it's impossible to say.
