The Age Of Progression

An old orc, scarred in many a place, and adorned with an iron jaw, summons his brethren to gather around the arena in the orcish capital. He brings them a message, very important to the well being of the orcs.

This is what he says, and although he speaks to them in the orcish language, I have translated it to regular English so you may read it easier.

"My orcish brethren:

We have stood by our honorable traditions, celebrations, war rules, and blood lust for centuries. Our name, the Orcs, is feared by many and all; it is a word that those outside of our simplicity misunderstand for sophistication. We have prospered for many a year, pillaging and destroying any who dare defy the War Nation.

From our mating traditions to our architecture, from our consolidated laws to our bartering, we have stood upon the blood of our fathers, and protected the blood of our sons. All who threaten us are crushed underneath the fist of green.

I bring to you, my brothers, a new age in mind. Where orcs are the primary race; where we are no longer considered outsiders and scoundrels, but rather controllers and masters. An age where green is the color of the skins of royals; where our sons and their sons after them live in a time of infinite prosperity, without the tides of war and struggle grabbing them by the collar and forcing them to deal with death.

Times are changing. Crude machines are being developed by those other than us, enabling them to travel and move with such speed that we have not even thought of. They are ahead of us. They are not divided by walls and mounds of ancient sand, fending off their protectively secure traditions and prophecies. They speak a common language, enforcing their own progression by feeding off the life of those not their own.

It is time for us, the orcs, to become intertwined with this progression. How do we fight or even communicate with an enemy if we do not know their traditions; their heritage; their honor laws? Alas, how do we understand a race we do not even speak the same language with?

Centuries have been spent using the simple and easy language known unforgettably as the orcs. Simple words are all we need to get our point across. But the others; they do not understand us. They use larger words, with more meaning behind them. Some may call it useless, but it is how they speak.

We will never understand each other if we continue to spend our years fighting with them; speaking our language as if they would understand it.

Yet, who am I, you ask, to propose that we unite and befriend those who are sometimes known as enemies? A whitewash, spreading corruptive ideas into the easily shifted minds of the cubs? No. I am but an orc as you are, trying to ensure that this race lasts as long as it has so far.

What I speak is that we learn of the traditions, the prophecies, the language of those we do not understand. Not to let them take from us, though, but rather the opposite. Little do they know; once we understand them as friends, we can better defeat them as enemies, if the time for such an event comes to pass.

So, my brothers. Ponder this idea. Perhaps the ancient times of hostility and simplicity are to be abandoned; and rather a time of adaptation and progression is nigh.

One truly shows commitment through actions, not words. So, I shall shall find yet another way to bring this point across to you; I vow it. All I ask is this:

On the blood of our fathers, on the blood of our sons, we shall live for as long as that blood is not spilled. Adaptation will keep our skin together. The green skin that, once on this path, will be the skin of rulers."

Do you think a time of progression and adaptation must be at hand? Adorning a knowledge of the other races traditions and their language, perhaps befriending them further, so that we may further ourselves? Leave your comments below.

Yours is one of misguidance and foolishness. I speak the common tongue well, very well in fact. I have walked among all of them, once we were allies with the elves and I spent much time with them learning their cultures. I say to you this: There is nothing to be learned.

We have open trade with many nations, we are allies with the Hanseti, just recently opened Sandstone trade with the Elvish council and have a standing pact with Salvus. Yet we do not need to know their culture to defeat them. We do not need to resort to deceptive ways to win our battles. I do not expect a whitewash to know of honor, but no true Orc would make allies with those who are clearly weak and a burden to the world. Those who are strong earn that position alone. We do not make friends with the intention of attacking them later, we make friends because we believe they are strong and worthy of that friendship. We do not take on these deceptive tones and your assertion that we must study them and their culture to destroy them has been proven time and again to be unfounded.

When we attacked the High Elves, I knew little more about their peoples than that they experimented on our kin and that the Wood Elves hated them. Yet we defeated them, no we crushed them without a single casualty. When we warred against the Humans and Dwarves we won four of the five major battles. Not to mention the wars prior to that.

You are not of the War Nation, so I do not expect you to understand honor or strength. You are whitewash, you are pathetic. Do not call us your "bretheren", we cull our weak at birth because we do not want them to grow up spouting the nonsense that you suggest. The fact that you would even consider making a friend in order to betray them is proof that you are weak. Now get out of this capital and away from our sacred lands. If I ever see you again, I will personally rip out your heart and feed your useless husk to our pigs.

Ned Lud'Gorkil's face twists into a horrid scowl as he listens to the filth spilled forth from the bowels of the stranger. As the thing's mouth-hole closes and it's noises slump to a halt, a deathly silence fills the room. The old warrior's breathing can be heard in the darkness, eyes glaring coldly from across the room as he rises to his feet in response.

I will speak in the common tongue, as you are not worthy of the blah. I speak the language of the pale-faces fluently, as do many of our elders, but you would not know that, for you are not one of us. We have stood by our honorable traditions, celebrations, war rules, and blood lust for centuries, this much is true. You, however, have not. You stand here among us now as a stranger in a foreign land, and yet you would dare to call us your brother? You would crawl forth from your hole like a worm to speak to us of honor? You are nothing to us. Filthy outsider, do not step foot inside our home and call upon our ear, demanding our respect, unless you are willing to fight and die for it, willing to struggle throughout the centuries in strength and honor, willing to earn your place among us.

When you drive a blade deep into a man's gut and twist it, looking him in the eye as he exhales his final breath, you know that man better than his own bloody mother ever did. In that moment, you know him better than his lovers, his widows and his orphans, better than his priest. You know the enemy better then he knows himself.

When you look me in the eye and call me brother, vomiting forth this weak and treacherous filth, you had better be bloody sure you know who you are speaking to. You had better be bloody sure that you know your enemy on this day, for I am standing right in front of you, fearing nothing, armed and ready to die a horrible and glorious death for nothing more than an ideal. With one good hand, I could crush your skull with my axe, tear it from your body and dangle it from my belt. Once the war boars have finished eating your flesh and bones and the flies have grown fat from the last of the gristle, we shall laugh and call it progress.

This will be a mercy for one such as yourself, who should have been culled long ago at the bottom of a cliff. I have yet to meet but one worthy opponent that hunts upon this earth, seeking to claim my life once the time has come, and you are not him. Return to your bathwater before I wash my feet in your blood.

((I realize that, but it makes very little sense to me. Whitewash orcs that have spent very little time amongst their true brethren don't just show up to our gates one day speaking full blah. We've been running the War Nation for several months now and have barely ever seen him among us, in-character or out-of-character. He's been playing since July. You don't just roll into the War Nation claiming to be one of us without taking some serious flak, much less change policy. You're either one of us or your a gaping skull on a pike. We know who our brothers are.))

Uku Hosh stood at the gathering his eyes thinned, as his maw moved into a snarl rage he looked at this white-wash Uruk and bent his shoulders back laughing. Even though he spent much time away from Krug, an Uruk never forgot to speak Blah. Even if it was toward a white-wash Uruk.

"Hur hur hur hur, nub. Lat been wit da shara tu long, lat donno Uruk uzgs. Lat blah like skah'n glob, Lat nub tinks Uruks bubhosh, but Uruks be bubhosh HHH yearz, dhey be bubhosh HHH moar. Thore'Gorkil furrows his brow and chuckles to what the orc is saying

You call us brother, but you are no orc. You bring shame to the mighty old father and all of the War Uzg. You are no orc you speak with the mindset of a pinkskin, why would the War Uzg have any interest in learning about those dishonourable. We are not powerhungry Humans, or dishonorable elves! Most elders as Ned stated can speak the blah- I mean language of the Pinkskin. We choose not to for we speak the language of Krug!

I say skah the pinkskins, none of their armies have dared to set foot on the sands of the WarUzg they have machienes? We used cannons on the attack of Haelun'or, cannons powerful enough to destroy any petty human stone brick wall!m Just because they speak a different blah, does not mean we can not understand it!

*Nux glares at the whitewash, noting of his lies and corrupt beliefs*

*Nux calls to an Eleven servant, telling him to write down then read as he has said. These are Nux's words spoken by his Eleven servant*

Since you are a whitewash, you may not fully understand the true tongue that is the Orcish language. So, I will speak to you through the normal tongue.

Why have we been the most honored, most feared, most respected, and most dominate race, culture, and nation in our people's history? It is because we ARE different from them. Their leaders may communicate with one another, but spread corruption and struggle with it. No wonder such nations as the Dwarves, Renatus, and so on have almost fallen. They are too similar to other nations, share their traits, but are weaker. The other nations know how others work. They read their history. Pay insiders to spy on them. They cause plain chaos altogether.

Us Orcs are not greedy, but sharing. Not corrupt, but in the right. That is what made us what we are today: the top of the food chain of nations.

You can't say I don't know your language if you don't even know my characters background. By the way, whenever I was on in the war nation, I never saw you either.))

*Sneers under his mask, only his mouth is visible but by the way he bares his tusks he gives off the impression of pure-hatred.*

No, I do not believe this and I detest it. I have been among the other races of this world back in the realm of Aegis long enough to savor their true colors. I am able to speak as they do, I am able to exist in their world but I refuse. Do not speak of us as kin, this is not true. You do not understand us, you are as they are. Us Orcs do not wish for much in this life, we live to uphold honor and crush our enemies, not to sprawl forth in an attempt to rule this world through their customs. When and if this world belongs to us, it will become so under our feet. We will not squat down in the mud with them, they will look up at us with fear, and obey.

<Punches Nroca square in the face>

Nothing this one said is right. He calls for treacherous acts and deceptive ways. He perceives the Orcs as something other than the rulers of Asulon. Everything he said is blasphemous and dishonorable. If you stand by him than go and join him, for no true Orc would level with this filth.
