Update:: The new Money Management System

Recommended Posts

So I not only lose basically all my minas, save for some change for traveling. Now I also cannot make Minas? I farmed mobs for a good while, and it still took me a long time to make ends meat, maybe others had much much much more time than myself, but I would make more selling one full suit of iron armor than I would in about 2 days of hunting mobs.

Might I ask how Warriors, Hunters, and Knights are all supposed to make Cash Now? I suppose I need to find an employer and then time away from work / kids to be able to get on when convenient for them to get paid? I feel like us lone wolves or small pack people who aren't kids living at home with all the free time in the world are being cast aside. Even the new skills coming from what I've gathered seem to be catered to impatient folk who don't want to work towards improving their character.

To answer the various complaints/questions::

1. I know nothing, absolutely nothing, about HOW we are transitioning to the 3.0 world, but I imagine that whatever you can carry would be the limit, so minas being a physical item now, you can carry some, but you'll have to negotiate with yourself what items you'll be leaving behind to do so. Just my opinion on the matter.

2. I know some of you hoarded enourmous amounts of money, and you're sort of feeling left out to dry. The plain fact is, this is the final money plugin. Vaq forced the original physical minas system in, when it was found to have exploitable bugs it was disabled, then iconomy broke due to the server transfer. We appologize for the technical difficulties, but if you want us to resolve them, then you need to trust that when we bring a system in now, it's for the betterment of the server, and we actually consult amongst the staff and test things out before implementing them now.

3. You should be playing to play. If you're having difficulty due to the conversion perhaps this suggestion will help:: Purely RP paying the guards, and levy their taxes, give them the things they would normally buy with that minas, and RP it as if you were paying them until you build up the money again.

4. I know some of you feel personally slighted that we're implementing things in preparation for 3.0, but the fact of the matter is, we need LIVE testing to make sure these things are tweaked and ready to go for 3.0 None of this is done to attack any one person, we do this for the betterment of the server.

My only issue is lack of notice (unless I missed it, in which case I apologies) If I had known, then i could have converted my Notes to emeralds, and tucked them safely in my bank, I had a note worth about 10k (I had farmed and sold wares, and even sold my Blacksmith) and that may not seem like alot, but to someone like me who plays casually, and lives alone and is self sufficient save for the few trips to town to purchase supplies, food, ect that was a fortune. Once the shop plugin was gone, my money dried up from lack of time to play during peak hours, to the point I had to sell my shop to get away from paying taxes so I could live. Any amount of Minas lost no matter how large or small, depending on the player could have been devastating, to me that was like being a poor farmer losing his live savings to a fire on the farm. Again if there was notice an "change your notes to emeralds guys it's changing" then I'm sorry, but I haven't seen the news post (the one thing I check all the time when I don't have time to go forum diving) change at all.

Edit: And then it's kind of like a kick while being down to tell me, that my primary source of items, materials, Minas, which is killing (since I live out in the dangerous countryside swarming with monsters) that not only am I broke, but I have no "easy" way of getting it back? I know 3.0 is coming soon, and I am excited, but what about the now, the life my guy lives now.

So I have a mina note with 1,000,000 written on it, can I get that changed into 1,000,000 emeralds, and get that changed in 500,000 diamonds.

you must have missed the part in the post where you CAN NOT go from emeralds back to diamonds.

Do we have a guarantee that this is the final money system? I'd not like to start using it only to be screwed over again in a week or two.

How dramatically will this raise the value of mina?

I can't expect many would do that meager exchange unless the value of a mina is about 50x what it used to be, I sell bread for 3 mina, that'd be 3 gold bars per loaf :P

And with much mina down the drain from lost notes, (~50k for me) there won't be much around until it starts to flow in from the hunters.

I suppose it'll be a challenge to run my shop for a while, but at least I won't have to worry getting my money deleted when I sell stuff anymore.

Horrible idea. Make a new nonphysical currency, make mobs drop minas again, make text based autoshops that arent exploitable.

And the server will flourish just as it did during the times of Aegis.

Right now its virtually unplayable and that makes me sad.

Edit: to clarify- for those who havent been around since Aegis- thats how things were back then and it worked well. Even though the skills plugin didnt work back then... dont get me started on the situation with that though.
