  1. From within his tower, an elderly Waldenian smiled brightly as he read over the missive. It was then he called out for his wife, moving to embrace her as he spoke. "Ich am so proud of them all." Karl returned to his retirement thereafter, feeling only immense pride for his descendants and kin. @TaytoTot Konstantin looked up from the mound of paperwork within his office as the letters were dropped off. The Chancellor of the Petra took a moment to scan the letters patent before cracking a wide grin as he made his way through the halls in search of someone. "I am glad our contributions are recognized and appreciated. Father will be most pleased by this news, he truly deserves such." He remarked towards his sister, the Vice-Chancellor, as he entered her office unannounced.
  2. – THE SOLLAND SETTLEMENT ACT – Issued and averred by His Excellency CHANZLÉ KONSTANTIN VON THEONUS in the year of our Lord 1947 An artist’s depiction of a farmstead within the Solland region of the Commonwealth of the Petra, c. 1947. AS THE COMMONWEALTH EXPANDS FURTHER INTO THE LOWLANDS, It announces the promulgation of the Solland Settlement Act, hereafter referred to as the Solland Act, to open the region to settlement by those residing within the Commonwealth. Or those who seek to find a home within its lands. The realm seeks brave, adventurous, and industrious souls to establish a presence within the region. The Garmont Throne calls for those who seek to settle the countryside, and lay stake to a small plot of land upon which they may farm the fertile plains of the Commonwealth. This offer is extended to any denizen residing within the Commonwealth of the Petra, with preference given towards veterans of the River Guard, families, and those newcomers seeking to raise a family in the realm. Although named the Solland Act, this act applies to the regions of Mardonland, Nortrebanc, and Mount Catrinne in addition to Solland. Prospective farmers, ranchers, and families may choose to purchase a plot of land within the region, and shall retain the right to maintain a farmstead or hamlet in which they may reside, alongside accompanying fields within their purchased plot which they may allocate how they so desire. CONSTRUCTION OF FARMSTEADS AND HAMLETS: Construction of hamlets shall be done by the Garmont, though petitioners shall work in tandem alongside the throne to ensure that the farmstead or hamlet they shall reside in is the style they desire. The style may be altered in order to better represent those intending to settle the countryside, though ultimately must be discussed, and approved by the Garmont Throne. Inquiries as to the creation of hamlets may be sent to either the Queen, Chanzlé, or the Vice-Chanzlé in order to begin a dialogue and initiate the process. Ultimate approval of the Queen or the Chanzlé in her name is required for the establishment of a farmstead or hamlet. Hamlets and farmsteads adhere to the building codes set forth in the capital of Vallagne. Thus, major alterations and modifications, such as the expansion of the structure, or altering its shape, is prohibited without the express approval of the Garmont Throne. However, residents of hamlets and farmsteads may petition to make larger changes, and may be approved or denied of their request. The fields allotted to a farmstead or hamlet may be utilized how its respective owner sees fit, be it farming of wheat, the raising of livestock, or the breeding of fine Petran steeds. HAMLETS: Should three or more families band together, they may petition to establish a hamlet within the respective region. Additional buildings and families may be added into a hamlet according to the costs established later within the document, subject to approval by the Queen or Chanzlé. Should this occur, the establishing families retain the right to: I. Choose a name for their prospective hamlet by which it shall be referred to in documents, maps, and the like. II. Organize amongst themselves, with the oversight of the Orateur or their deputy, the selection of one amongst their number to represent the hamlet within the Garmont Assembly of the Commonwealth. III. Petition the Garmont Assembly and the Garmont Throne in regards to matters pertaining to the hamlet. IV. Petition the Garmont Throne to establish a permanent presence within the hamlet for its security. Keeping in mind the size of the realm, and the distance between the Red Bastion and the prospective regions for settlement, individual hamlets may choose to petition the Garmont Throne for the River Guard to establish a permanent presence within their hamlet, in the form of a fortified dwelling, such as a tower. In which a garrison of River Guard may be stationed to patrol and maintain the security of the hamlet in question. At minimum, such should maintain a garrison of ten men, though this number is subject to the requests of the hamlet in question, and the Garmont. Alternative solutions may be proposed and acted upon, with the consent of the Garmont Throne. SETTLING COSTS: Settlement of the countryside does, however, come at a cost. Those seeking to establish themselves in such a manner will swear fealty to the Queen, and the Commonwealth. In addition, given the crown shall be the architect of construction, the newly established homesteads do come at a cost, for the materials and labor expended in their creation. An initial payment of one hundred and twenty fifty (150) shall accompany the establishment of any farmstead by an individual, and a sum of hundred and twenty (120) for the establishment of each household in a hamlet within the countryside. These are to be paid to either the Chanzlé, Vice-Chanzlé, or the Treasurer and shall be noted and affirmed by a note signed by the official, and the coin added within the logs of the treasury. Should any special circumstance arise, the Garmont Throne may decide to alter this initial fee. Circumstances include situations such as a large family seeking to establish a residence in the countryside. Hence, the aforementioned costs are not static, and special circumstances shall be taken into consideration when petitions for settlement arise. TAXES: Each year taxation dues of fourty (40) mina shall be owed per farmstead, and thirty (30) per household within a hamlet. These are to be paid to the Tax Office of the Régismont within the city of Vallagne. A designed section within the tax office shall be created for such by the Treasurer. Any family, of a size of three members or more residing in a household shall receive a decrease in the yearly dues owed to the Commonwealth. A tax deduction of five mina per year shall be placed in effect for families with children residing in any established hamlet, to a maximum of two children per household. The Châtelain of Labor within the Régismont shall oversee and ensure that these standards are maintained, and to prevent fraudulent claims in the size of households. Should any household or farmstead lay fallow and fail to pay taxes for two years in a row, the occupants shall face eviction by the Régismont for failure to abide by the law. Furthermore, the Régismont retains the right to punish those who breach the aforementioned building code, including a fine or eviction in cases of egregious disregard for the law. BY MY CROWN AND FOR MY PEOPLE, Her Royal Majesty, RENILDE I, Queen of the Commonwealth of the Petra Her Royal Highness, Princess Catherine Arabella of the Petra, Archduchess of Vallagne, Protector of Dogs His Excellency, Sir Konstantin von Theonus, Knight of the Petrine Laurel, Chanzlé of the Commonwealth of the Petra, Hero of Faubourg
  3. Sitting upon a bench within the halls of the Vallagne, Konstantin was handed a copy of the latest declaration directly by his old friend, Aimo@ColdestPepsi. "My friend, I consider this normal for you. But nonetheless, congratulations! We ought to celebrate the Commonwealth's victory over disappearing mayors, I'd wager you shall see through your whole term, and then some." The Waldenian promptly rose to his feet as he made his way towards the tavern. They both needed a drink.
  4. Within the Icathian Company warehouse, Konstantin frantically tore up existing fishing nets within the storage containers. He knew full well what he had unleashed upon the Commonwealth through his nomination, and that he best rid himself of the nets lest he incur Aimo's wrath.
  5. THE RAISING OF VISSINGREN Issued by The Viscount of Marignan in the year of our Lord 1943. IT IS WITH GREAT JOY THE VISCOUNTY OF MARIGNAN, Announces the completion of the construction of Vissingren Castle. Located within the hinterlands of the Petran Commonwealth, the castle of Vissingren shall serve as the main seat within the Black Hills, named for the forges operated by my house to refine the ores found in abundance within the region's mines. Having undergone construction for several years now, this news warrants celebration within the Commonwealth. With the completion of construction, the administration of this new seat must not be neglected. In light of this, several appointments to positions within the Viscounty must be filled. Henceforth, the position of Castellan of Vissingren shall be occupied by my cousin, Theoderic von Theonus (@Tremerus). For many years he has served as a diligent and energetic aide to myself in both peace and war. He shall hold this appointment until such a time he feels it necessary to appoint another in his stead to the position. In this capacity he shall aid in the management of the lands of the Viscounty, an authority second to myself in this regard. A Master-at-Arms must as well be appointed. To keep the future generations of the house apt in their skill at arms. The post shall henceforth be occupied by Frey of Astor, a man whose experience outweighs even my own. Thus, Frey of Astor (@ColdPepsi) shall occupy the post of Master-at-Arms of Vissingren until such a time he feels fit to pass such on to another. The finances of the Viscounty must as well be tended, the revenues from the mine and accompanying vineyard and farmlands of Marignan must not be left unaccounted. To this end, the Treasurer of Vissingren shall be created as an office within the Viscounty. Aimo of Astor ( @ColdestPepsi) shall be appointed as the first treasurer, to aid in the management of financial matters. With this joyous news, there is also a most important announcement that must be made. Thus, the Viscount of Marignan invites those below to a feast, both to celebrate the completion of the castle of Vissingren, as well as to witness this news of great import to the Viscounty, and the House of Theonus as a whole. 6. Within his office, Konstantin slammed the doors shut as the news of his best friend's passing was delivered. The two had experienced many adventures together and had been inseparable as friends, and Konstantin had considered Adrian as a brother to himself. Now, the newfound Chanzlé felt hollow without the presence of his dearly departed friend. It was only after several hours locked within said office did he emerge, a brave face put on as he went in search of Catriona (@Zaerie).
  7. Venkalth sat within his hollow, faithfully awaiting the call to arms of Deadmund. The Dead Man smiled manically at the prospect of wreaking destruction across Aevos.
  8. THE DEFENCE OF FAUBOURG Penned by Konstantin Aleksander von Theonus in the year 1939. ON THIS DAY, THE FIRST OF THE GRAND HARVEST, A force of warriors, reeking of rotten flesh and death descended upon the hamlet of Faubourg outside of the city of Vallagne. At first, a metallic clanging came from the nearby woods from the plate and chainmail the attacking force donned, signalling the impending danger. Those present within the village, a small force of Marignan partisans, rallied together to meet this incoming force. Sending one of their own, Theoderic von Theonus, to alert the garrison of Vallagne and summon reinforcements as they held Faubourg. This was not without aid, however, as two mages of the Hokhmat Enclave appeared shortly after and lent their support without question, joining the defenders as the denizens of the hamlet took shelter within their homes. Shouts of “FOR HYDRA!” rang out amidst a demonic war cry uttered by one of the attacking forces’ number. A general assault upon the hamlet began then, as the two forces charged one another, the forces of the Cult splitting in two around Faubourg’s center in hopes of flanking the defenders. Shortly thereafter, a general melee occurred in the street as the Petrans attempted to hold Faubourg against the Hydra Cultists. The attack was led by what the Hokhmati mages would later describe as a Darkstalker. Cultists were met with a torrent of flame from one of the Hohkmati Sorcerers as they circled around the pillar to great effect, their advance halted for the time being by this inferno. As the battle lines were met, it was evident this was to be a hard-fought day. Neither side gave an inch of ground in the opening few moments, as axes thumped against shields and the cries of battle rang out throughout the hamlet. As the clash commenced, one figure loomed large behind the force of Hydra Cultists and its Darkstalker. A masked figure ominously stood atop a nearby hillock. As he supervised the attack, the figure began to yell out to the defenders that the ongoing hunt for the Sisters of Petra was merely the beginning of his plan. The figure went on to decry the Church of the Canon, stating that his sinister forces would topple the Church and the realms of Aevos, rendering all to be slaves to this dastardly foe. With each false word spouted, a black fog emanated from the figure’s hand, killing all plant life surrounding him. The figure’s words fell upon deaf ears, as the pious Petrans put up a spirited defence around the center of the hamlet, ignoring the words of this false prophet. It was then that Theoderic returned with reinforcements from the Red Bastion of the Riverguard. Without hesitation, these brave souls crashed into the flames and chaos on the Cult’s left flank to great effect as this began to mark a shift in the battle in favor of the Commonwealth. As the clash continued, it was evident the Cult’s fortunes had begun to wane. What began as a small force, surprised and outnumbered, now became a force as strong as the current of the River Petra herself. One by one, each of the attacking force was slain as the defenders of Faubourg gradually encircled the remaining Cultists around the very center they themselves had tried to flank. Until at last, one remained; the ever-defiant undead warrior, Deadmund. His decaying skull staring back defiantly at those who now surrounded him with abject hatred and malice. Blow after blow rained down upon this servant of Iblees, yet he did not fall. Even as he was set aflame from within by the skillful attack of a Hokhmati Sorcerer he did not falter. It was only with a final round of blows to the now burning warrior’s skull that he was slain. The Petrans stood victorious amidst the carnage this battle had wrought upon the hamlet of Faubourg, now littered with the corpses of those slain. What occurred to the being who preached of the destruction of the Church, Aevos, and indeed all Descendants is unknown. It appears he fled as reinforcements began to turn the tide of battle. As he was not amongst the dead counted shortly after. A small party of riders was sent in search of their whereabouts, though they returned with nothing of note. What we are certain of, however, is the strength shown this day. Let this be a warning, that the Commonwealth shall tenaciously defend its realm and those within from harm at the hands of those who consort with Iblees.
  9. After many reminders by his much adored father, Konstantin signed the document.
  10. The Baron of Marignan smiled as he read the missive. Although a most harrowing experience to see his youngest daughter fall from the tree canopy onto Alphonse, he felt great relief that she, Alphonse and his newest grandson were both going to be alright. "My sommerrose has not wilted. I must begin preparing to spoil yet another grandchild now." he mumbled to himself in delight.
  11. Konstantin hurriedly prepared a lavish gift for his best friend, Adrian, as the news of his engagement reached him. The young Waldenian could not help but think of what Adrian had told him some years ago about his goals in Petra. A wide grin spread across Konstantin's face as he knew his friend's ambition had come to fruition!
  12. At the sight of his distraught older sister, Konstantin did something he was loathe to do, withdrawing coin from the bank. The young mina-crazed merchant promptly handed off the jingling bag to Thérèse, an equally distraught expression present upon his own face at the prospect of spending such. "We will get him back, this should help in acquiring supplies for the trip. Julius will be alright." He assured her. For once, the younger brother did not make a comment about Thérèse's betrothed.

  14. As he stacked a large pile of papers to be sent off to the Grand Prince for the final time, Karl von Theonus could not help but let out a soft sigh. It had been twenty years since he'd arrived in the then Duchy of Minitz. The elderly Waldenian felt a mix of emotions, but steeled himself knowing that this was for the best, and what his family wanted. "Ich wish them gutte fortunes in the comings years, truly. It has been ein honor." Karl said to the scribe he burdened this large stack of papers with. Gone thereafter to pack a final few mementos as he prepared to depart Kanunsburg alongside his family.
  15. From within his home, the elderly Karl von Theonus let out a long sigh as a messenger of the Grand Prince delivered a copy alongside the daily news. "It is Theonus, there is no 'i'" he rambled on towards himself in an increasingly exasperated tone. "It has been twenty years since ich came here. There has never been an 'i'!" After a moment of this, one of the scribes in his employ dragged the elderly man back to his room to slumber. His eternal battle with the plural of his family's name continues forevermore.
  16. Karl felt immense pride at yet another one of his children getting married. "About time, Isa." he murmured to himself as he skimmed his invitation. Remembering then how he'd seen the two grow up together, the elderly Waldenian felt sure his daughter would be happy in her home home with the Count of Warsovia!
  17. An elderly Waldenian smiled bright as his invitation was received. He felt quite proud as he perused the contents, gladdened that his former student was embarking onto the next part of his life. "Well done, Princeling. Well done.." he mumbled aloud to himself before preparing for the trip to Valdev.
  18. DIE ERNENNUNG DES ZWEITEN VIZE KANZLER DER HERRENHAUSE THE APPOINTMENT OF THE SECOND VICE-CHANCELLOR OF THE HERRENHAUS Issued by the Kanzler of Minitz in the year of our Lord 1928 SÖHNE UND TÖCHTER VON MINITZ, By the decree of Herzog Brandt 'the Bosnan' Barclay, ruler and Chieftain of Minitz, let it be known to all the tribesmen of our hallowed lands that a new appointment has been made to strengthen the management of our tribe. With great wisdom and discernment, I have chosen Ottomar Josef Barclay to assume the esteemed position of Vizekanzler. With his unyielding loyalty, dutiful conduct, and keen drive to betterment of the Reinmaren people, Ottomar has proven himself worthy of this honour. He shall sit by my side, offering counsel and guidance in matters of governance, and shall aid our hallowed quest of shaping the future of our tribe. Let it be understood that the Vizekanzler shall be bestowed with the authority to act on my behalf in my absence, and shall have the power to make decisions and implement policies that align with the vision of our tribe's ancestors; of Leon Barclay, of Dietrich, of Wilheim. His words shall carry the weight of the Herzog's edict, penultimate to that of the Kanzler and his actions shall be executed with unwavering dedication to the betterment of our people. As our ilk face challenges and opportunities in this new continent, let all tribesmen extend their respect and cooperation to Vizekanzler Ottomar Josef Barclay, as he assumes his duties with honor, vigor and diligence. GOTT above watch over this brave Reinmaren as he undertakes the office of Vizekanzler to the best of his capabilities. Thus, it is by the Decree of the Duke that: OTTOMAR BARCLAY BE ELEVATED AS THE SECOND VIZEKANZLER OF MINITZ, TO TAKE A SEAT AMONGST THE MEMBERS OF THE DUKE'S HERRENHAUS, TO AID OVERSEEING THE ADMINISTRATION AND PROPER FUNCTIONING OF THE HERZOGRAT OF MINITZ. 19. An elderly Waldenian frowned deeply as the news of Rosalind's death reached him. Although much younger than he, the young royal had always impressed him with her desire to do good for her people. A bottle, almost as old as he, was retrieved, carrying with it the memories from his own youth in Norland. After a few long drinks of the liquid within, the Waldenian could only state, "To Prinzessin Rosalind."
  20. Karl gazed one last time towards the city of Neu Brandthof. For a moment, tears welled in the elderly knight's eyes as he watched the destruction of his new home. He had only resided in Minitz for but a decade, but it had been some of the happiest years of his life. Glancing about the boat he had boarded, he was relieved to see a number of his family members. The man's mind could not help but flicker back to a prior conversation he'd had with the Duke of Minitz. "In the end, what is it we leave behind?" Seeing his family, the elder knew he still had much to do for them, and the other sons and daughters of Minitz, with whatever time he had left.
  21. Karl smiled in the newly established camp in the outskirts of Savoy. It had been a grueling three years for the Minitzers. The conflict with Adria, the incursions and then outright invasion by the Mori into their lands had taken their toll. He had done his best to guide them through this in his time as Lord Regent. Now he could only hope that it had been enough as he looked to the returned Brandt, ready to return to his duty as the Erstkanzler of Minitz.

  23. DIE LANDTAGSWAHLEN VON 1923 THE LANDTAG ELECTIONS OF 1923 Issued by the Lord Regent of Minitz in the year of our Lord 1923 SÖHNE UND TÖCHTER VON MINITZ, As discussed amongst the Reinmaren at the Seventh Brandtian Moot, it is now time that the Burghers and Tribesmen of Minitz participate in the election of their Mayor and Lawmen respectively. Thus are the names of those who have nominated themselves for the positions of the Landtag. The positions of Lawmen and Mayor of Neu Brandthof must be filled. With multiple candidates for the positions, this necessitates a vote on the part of the Burghers of the Duchy of Minitz, to be overseen by the current Bailiff, Sir Ludolf Barclay. Each position elected shall be held for a total of four years, with the candidates thereafter able to run for another term should they so desire. MAYORAL NOMINEES: (i) Annette von Theonus (ii) Flavia Ramnessei Stroheim The importance of the position of the Mayor of Neu Brandthof is one that cannot be overstated in it's importance. They serve as the voice for those Burghers of our realm who do not sit within the Landtag as Seated members. As such, the Mayor provides them representation within our institutions and the ability to have their voice heard at our moots. LAWMEN NOMINEES: (i) Sir Peter von Stroheim (ii) Theoderic von Theonus (iii) Magnus von Theonus Of these three candidates, two will be elected to the position of Lawman of Minitz, serving directly under the current Lawspeaker, Sir Maxwell. Their task is of great importance, as they aid in maintaining and amending the Kanun which deals with the laws of the land of the Reinmaren. Let all those of Reinmar who are to vote be given a FOUR Saint’s Days from this publication to write their votes, the Burghers of Minitz who own property to vote for their Mayor, and all the tribesmen to elect their Lawmen. Voting Form Here GOTT MIT UNS, His Excellency, Karl von Theonus RSTSR, Chieftain of the Theonus Tribe, Thegn of Einmont, Patriarch of Theonus, Kanzler of Minitz, Lord Regent of Minitz His Grace, Brandt Wilheim Barclay Herzog von Minitz GMSTSR, KBS Duke of Minitz, Margrave of Vanderfell, Count of Neu Brandthof, Viscount of Tucay, Baron of Boriënwald and Brandthof, Lord of Durres, Protector of the Aaunic Heartlands, Chief of the Minitzian Reinmaren, Lord Vandalore
  24. DIE WAHL DES FÜNFTEN KRIEGSHAUPTS THE ELECTION OF THE FIFTH WAR CHIEF Issued by the Lord Regent of the Herrenhaus in the year of our Lord 1923 SÖHNE UND TÖCHTER VON MINITZ, With the prior election of the new Warchief of Theoderic’s Warband concluded just over a year ago, it has been necessary to formally announce the winner, and thus new Warchief of Theoderic’s Warband. The many Sons and Daughters of the Warband cast their ballots, with one candidate securing a clear majority over his peers. It is the honor of the Lord Regent to formally announce that Hauptmann Cisyn Grima has been elected the new Warchief by his fellow soldiers of Theoderic's Warband. An experienced member of the Warband with over a decade of fighting for the Duchy under his belt, the Reinmaren people will be well served by him now as the new Warchief. With the election of Warchief Cisyn Grima, it is hoped the Warband shall continue to thrive and vigorously protect the inhabitants of the Duchy of Reinmar. Thus, the election of the fifth Warchief of Theoderic’s Warband is at an end, and the result made clear for all in the realm to see. May the Lord above watch over him as the new Warchief undertakes his new duties and responsibilities. 25. The Lord Regent of Minitz signed the Lorraine as the missive reached him. "The könig is dead, long live the könig.." He mumbled to himself, gone to light a candle in the church of Neu Brandthof thereafter in the deceased king's honor.
