  1. It is a clause for potential future situations. If a player is deemed to be misusing the tome then it shall relocate, likely through another event. Misuse, is entirely situational. Regardless of how presumptuous players admire to be, the books are still being spread across the playerbase. I really hate that the main problem with these books is that they'll "end up with tiny groups", as if somehow you just have some greater knowledge that that is the case. The first book that's being released is actually being released to one of the four main races in general, but for the sake of the event I'm not going to go into specifics.
  2. Naturally god-like entities are going to be used frequently in lore, they have power, power leads to potential. I struggle to think of many other ways we could be introducing these tomes if not from the greater entities of the world. I'm running the plan to implement the tomes across the server so my explanation is going to be brief as not to spoil it, but every concern mentioned here plus more has already been expressed and deliberated over, I'm going to ask you don't do the norm LoTC thing and bash something into the earth before it's even begun. But to clarify: - Most the tomes will be introduced through events accessible to many. They aren't going to be limited to certain groups and in the instance that they are, it is to give that group some influence usually only achieved by an abundance of players (such as the necronomicon, which allows for the summoning of an army, allowing for significant political and RP influence over large nations that would usually disregard the smaller groups.) - No, it will not be aimed at just the magical community. In fact, about half the books are aimed to not be in the hands of the magical community, which given that they are magic books is significant. - This lore's background exists for lore's sake beyond anything else. What the players will be receiving and the events that will be following, will be distant from Aengudaemons all together, don't use this as an opportunity to bash Aenguls and Daemons when in truth they are only the background, nothing more. I know that's an easy point to argue against but it's what you guys do with the books that's going to become prominent, this is about you, not Aenguls and Daemons. - Once again, while bringing up points of concern is fine, I don't intend to act upon anything until we've started to see these tomes in effect in-game. The simple truth is I'll respond to action, not 'foresight'. If it fails, it fails. We're not professional writers and game designers, failure is always a possibility, we're a server of experimentation so I'm asking you to see this through before you jump to the "I hate it" or "I love it." For the above reason I won't be responding further. Let's see how this plays out.
  3. The Nine Tomes Of Power The Seven Skies did once more applaud, the council of Aenguls and Daemons had come to an agreement, an event seldom heard of within the realm of the eternals. It was no lie that each wished for a blessing upon the world, each desired something of mortal kind and their selfish deeds had caused the descendants no end of suffering and torment. Thus, a change, and a gift. The deities that had most affected the mortals would imbue a fraction of their power into a tome, and release it to the world as an act of charity, a single instance of kindness. But what was to be a simple, noble gift would surely become something with a less kind outcome, for the Aenguls and Daemons still desired for these tomes to carry out their will on the world, but it was up to the descendants on how they should be used. Each of the books are entirely indestructible and can’t be copied. Should the holder of the tome be unworthy to bear it, it is possible that it will vanish from their clutches and appear in the grasp of another. [[The books exist to hand players the keys to events. Each one will require staff intervention to execute properly, but when the events occur and under what conditions will be down to the players themselves. The books will be distributed through a variety of ways. Some will be hidden across the map, others may be introduced through events. Some of the books already exist within the world and are now being awoken, but most will be introduced very gradually to the playerbase. Happy hunting.]] The Planar Dictate The Planar Dictate was a book originally given to the descendants by the Aengul known as Gazardiael but was confiscated by the enigmatic entity known as the Outvoker and was lost in time after complications regarding .raSmoT the Mad, leading to its backwards placement in time; the Outvoker and .raSmoT had stepped out of time to intervene, as the book’s power was judged to be too great. Slipping backwards in time thereafter, .raSmoT the Mad rewrote Gazardiel’s tome of power to be what it is now, the Planar Dictate. The book has since been found already, nearly two centuries prior to the rest of the tomes, but it has yet to be opened. By no means could its finder pry the pages open until now when the other tomes have shown themselves -- the very day it was originally let out into the world, before the Outvoker had meddled with the situation. It now exists as an anchor to the planes that has a variety of functions, but its primary one is that it grants the reader mastery of traversing the mortal planes - it unlocks the function to open portals across the realm, allowing for the instant travel from one location to another through the voidal art of Arcane Displacement. The Planar Dictate exists as the ultimate authority on traversing the planes, and upon its opening, it shall be reawakened, and a ripple effect shall occur that shall wipe out any attempt to recreate the portals of Old, like those designed by the wizard .raSmoT the Mad and thus erasing all Descendant-made portals. The Dictate is constantly in a state of change, it's complicated wording and mysterious symbols may be worked out by any dedicated scholar to be constantly recording the movement of bodies about the planes, be the servants of deities or even the deities themselves - The Planar Dictate records it, including when and where it occurred. However, its intricate recordings come as befuddling for even the grandest of scholars and reliable tracking comes as an extremely difficult and confusing ordeal. With lengthy study into The Planar Dictate’s writings, the reader may even be able to experiment into breaching the mirroring mortal plane on the other side of the world, and perhaps even into planes beyond the mortal ones entirely. (Note this does not remove Aengudaemonic portals or any others not created by the Descendants of the current age.) The Book Of Dragons A tome need not be made for the slumbering Daemon of knowledge known as 'Dragur', for he had made such a thing many years before his fall, alas its name was lost to history and its location a thing of mystery, only rumour remains of Dragur's lost tome ; The Book Of Dragons. The Book Of Dragons allows for the holder to both commune with, and control dragons. It is said that a Dragon may only be controlled by use of its true name, which is only ever known to the Dragon itself. But the book will show the reader the dragon’s name, and allow for them to command its every move. The book functions upon Drakes as well as dragons, but it is limited to Lesser Dragons. The book’s power may not nearly overwhelm the whim of a Greater Dragon; a Dragaar or a Drakaar. When encountering a Dragon, opening the book will reveal its name upon the pages, and upon being spoken, the Dragon will be bound to the wielder of the book, but only by holding the book may one hope to achieve being able to command the Dragon. The name not need be repeated after it has been spoken, it will be recorded upon the pages of the tome, never to fade even after the Dragon’s demise. The Guardian’s Grimoire Gifted to the Descendants by the Aengul known as Xan, this particularly powerful tome possess the ability to generate a shield around an entire city, impenetrable to all attack. However, the shield takes some time to prepare - the entire book’s incantations must be ready aloud exactly as they are written in order for the spell to be successful. Its function in quick raids would be quite useless, it is designed to prevent against major attacks on a settlement. To be sustained, the shield would require the reader of the tome to constantly be reciting the incantations, written in a language alien to our world. The shield will never falter while this occurs, but it will prevent both mortals from entering, and from leaving, even the very air would become thin as those trapped within are left with dwindling supplies - a settlement could not exist with it consistently shielding them, although saying this, anything corrupted within the shield will be progressively damaged (the taint has a significant chance of dying off, revealing the purified form beneath.) And anything corrupted touching the shield will suffer surplus damage, if not death. After its use, the book will become dormant for several years, when it is able to be used again the white gemstone upon its cover will ignite with light. The Necronomicon The Arch-Daemon Iblees caught wind of the meeting and the plan to gift the descendants. Angry at how he was left out, he’d surely enact revenge by joining the other Aenguls and Daemons to bestow them with a gift, but his would bring nothing but pain and destruction. The Necronomicon is imbued with a powerful portion of Iblees’ necrotic power, its direct purpose is to perform a mass-resurrection of the dead, allowing for a horde of undead to be summoned after the books long incantation is spoken aloud - the use of this book on a city would require a warclaim. After its primary purpose has been filled, the book will go dormant for several years until its power is restored to perform another onslaught. The book also contains the history of the Undead, including the names of notable figures in its past. The Book of Souls Gifted to the Descendants by the Aengul known as Aeriel, the Book Of Souls contains the names of all the dead. Every soul that has passed on from the world has their name recorded inside the book, and with each death it does magically update itself. The holder is able to read a short incantation detailed on the first page of the book, followed by the name of one of the deceased (note, the soul must have been an actual character that was played), to temporarily bring them back to the world of the living as an apparition. The descendants may commune with the apparition for whatever purpose they desire, but the deceased will not know of the events leading up to its death. After a day has passed, the soul will return to the Soul Stream and it may never be called upon again - a single soul may only ever be returned to the mortal plane once, so that its rest may remain mostly undisturbed. This act of returning a soul to the world may be performed once every year. The Eternal Arcana As homage to the fallen Aengul, The Eternal Arcana was reforged from the remnants of the Wandering Wizard’s power, acting as a spellbook to magics previously thought to be beyond mortal control. The tome’s spells are cast through chanting their incantation, and are as follows: Solitude of the Sky: This spell can be cast upon any object or structure, and grant it permanent levitating capabilities. However, the spell is limited to a one time use, it may only ever be used on one structure at a time. To use on another structure, it must be removed from the first. Orb of the Whispers: A floating orb of light can be summoned to deliver messages and warnings across the world. Once summoned, it will persist by the caster’s side until it is dismissed via the same incantation that summoned it. Song of the Clouds: Creates a violent thunderstorm around the mages location, it is unable to be controlled beyond that. Lament of the Daemons: Casts a meteor shower down upon a large area, but takes a significant amount of time to prepare. Only to be used during warclaims. This spell has several years of cooldown. Wisdom of the Aenguls: Allows to the comprehension of any magical relic, device or artifact by reading a short incantation. The Book of Spirits The Book of Spirits was placed in the Orcish desert by the Daemon Apohet. The Book is made with an investiture of Apohet's authority as Lord of the spirit realm and father of the spirits, which would allow a user to have any spirit perform a task at the user's whim. This is however dampened by Apohet only limiting the Book's to function only with Ghorza, Spirit of Travel, Movement and Fortune. Fortunately the ability this spirit does grant is of great utility, and when summoned Ghorza will create for the user and a large host of warriors a spectral ship, manned by his lesser spirits of travel. The power of the Spirit is so great that mortal artifices are unable to halt the advance of the ship and its passengers, and essentially allows the user of the book to travel anywhere on the mortal plane without regard for the limitations that face regular mortals. This tome can be used to bypass city walls, but can only be used outside - it may not enter buildings or travel through terrain. The Tome of Purity The Tome of Purity was a book created on behalf of Tahariae, sealed within it a small portion of his power. This book allows one to heal large wounds that would cause mortal death otherwise and has an insane level of ability in the medicinal art. It allows a descendant to create miracles with ease, however a miracle can only be committed once over several years. (2 weeks) Using the tome requires one to recite an incantation of the Aengul of Purity Tahariae. It grants the ability for a person to heal someone, regardless of how long the injury has persisted. It also cleanses any taint from the wound upon the body, completely purifying the one who is the recipient of the tomes power. This means that the tome is capable of healing wounds that are both tainted or normal, including mental illness or otherwise mental abnormalities. It’s power is known to extend to the domain of even reattaching large limbs, and can be used quite efficiently once activated. This however does not heal any curses or otherwise by other Daemon-Aengul entities and is intended for the healing of tainted/or mortal wounds, as well as illness. Scriptures of Time The scriptures of time were gifted upon the Descendants by the Daemon and creator of the Kharajyr, Metzili. The tome is imbued with the power to allow one to access a pocket realm or dungeon to be used as a personal home. This power allows one to create an anchor, but requires one elven day to successfully create it. In this time, an incantation must be uttered to which the tome will begin constructing the anchor from its pages, where the book is left to construct it. Without guard, a person can interrupt this process by taking the scriptures during the process of creation. This anchor can be moved once created at the will of the holder of the scriptures, and the entrance is dictated by the ownership of the relic. Within this pocket dungeon would be the annals of time up until Aegis, and would allow one to see the answer to a controversial or otherwise clouded event in history. This ability would be seen through story painted upon ever changing walls, vibrant images that would be plastered throughout the halls of the Dungeon. Using the tomes magnificent power, one could harness the scriptures to call upon an event in history that would be in question, showing the details of the events that actually had occurred without doubt. These scriptures would be unable to show events relating to scrying upon other Aenguls or Daemons. The power could only be used once every elven month as to allow for the powers invested within it by Metzili to charge and gather itself once more. (Showing anything post-players would be impossible, and the images would cease dating that far back) Writers: Wretched https://www.lordofthecraft.net/profile/31523-benbo-wretched/ James https://www.lordofthecraft.net/profile/22011-james/ Zarsies a tiny, tiny bit.
