  4. Along ways away, on a different continent, a man who once knew Amelia lights a candle in his chapel. He watches the flame burn, the wax slowly dripping down, and remembers the girl he met so many years ago. He does not cry, for her memory is too distant. But as the candle flickers and dies, he feels an empty sorrow, knowing he will never again see the beautiful, charming girl who once enchanted him. "Goodbye, Amelia."

  13. "No," says Nikolai, who happens to be enjoying a pastry in the neutral Teutonic lands while on vacation and conveneiently happens to overhear Tarkus' offhand comments "Not even close. This doesn't fit even the broadest definition of terrorism because fundamentally, these acts are not designed to spread fear or terror. Our demands are simple, friendly even. All we have asked for is an end to the blatant lies that were spread by Courland to bring their allies into this. Then we shall return the prisoners of war."

  16. Nikolai Rykov reads the letter, not with disgust or outrage, but with curiosity. He sets his quill down, penning a response "Dear Princess Sophia, I have found your letter to be of great interest, and I'm both surprised and pleased by the eloquence of your letter. Unfortunately, the contents of it do not please me as such as I have found them to be riddled with falsehoods and uncalled for accusations. I mean no insult by this, but I will take my pen to defend my liege and homland First and foremost, I express the utmost sorrow and regret for assassination attempts on your life. To assault any lady, much less a child, is a grave sin and a curse in the face of GOD. It truly goes a great distance to show the sad state that Axios is in. However, whoever this man may be, he has no ties or connection to House Ruthern. To be quite frank, I find the accusation or implication that this man was sent by house Ruthern to be grievously insulting, and the fact that it's tossed out without a second thought, as if it's common knowledge ("If one is to point out the faults of us, is it not fair to admit their own?"), to be baffling. What propaganda occurs in your capitals that such lies and slander could be tossed out so casually? There seems to be a confusion, a misunderstanding maybe? Some seem to believe that the rebellious House Ruthern are Haensetic sympathists. This could not be farther from the truth. We were no more close to Haense than the Archduke was--in fact one of our principal leaders who was cut down at the Massacre of Alexandria had fought against Haense in the Haense-Courland war, as had Count Joren's father Viktor, something that Franz the False did not. He only arrived as a claimant after the war was well and finished. Princess, I cannot stress enough that the only crime committed by House Ruthern was failure to pay a 7,000 mina fine. There was no banditry, no assassinations, no attacks, no affronts. Please keep this in mind as the war effort progresses, and know we as honorable men of Axios will always protect you, the innocent. This war never should have come about, but since it is so obviously unavoidable we will do the most we possibly can to ensure that no innocents are harmed, that no child or woman's blood is spilled. With regards, Nikolai Rykov" ((nice post
  17. "Preserving the peace =/= murdering children for refusing to pay 7k. Really don't get why that's so hard to understand."
  18. rp fighting is actual cancer 99.9% of the time like i love a good rp fight but sadly players on this server are neither mature or intelligent enough to partake in them well. Can you imagine doing that with 16+ people? It'd just a powergaming ******* mess

  20. "Wise of His Holiness to illustrate the secularist and anti Church behavior in the 5th Empire. Should dissuade some ignorant fools from trying to claim this as a sign of imperialism. Not that there'd be anyone stupid enough to make such an idiotic claim anyway..." says Nik
  21. "Her head was crushed but all she has is a scar to show for it.. are you mad? How does one have their head crushed in and still survive? Is she an undead? What manner of dark magic are you speaking of that allows one to live after supposedly having their head caved in? As for the matter of Edward, there is no evidence to ever suggest that he was killed. You insist that he was but there is absolutely no reason to believe so whatsoever or any evidence of such a thing in any way, shape or form. If we killed him, he would be dead and not alive--therefore, he was not killed. I truly do not understand why the permanence of death is such a difficult concept for you to understand. And once again I will reiterate, we did not take a child to a meeting where we intended to draw arms. We did not intend to draw arms. And in fact, we did not draw arms until they were drawn on us by Frederick Staunton-Baden, and even then it was only to protect our own. Also, who the **** is Galahad. I've never heard of such a man in my life, nor is such a man employed by House Ruthern. As for the Brawms, I've not heard of this incident but there was never a condemnation of them by Courland nor did Courland ever aid us in removing them. And, there was still a Courlandic garrison in the castle when it was sieged.
  22. "Courlandic incursions referring to the Brawm rebels who murdered Duke Henrik Kovachev and were supported by a Courlandic garrison when they were sieged. The same Brawm rebels who Courland had promised would be evicted from the north. The Brawms failed to leave and Courland failed to aid in their eviction as promised. See the Greyspine Concord, term 7." (( )) "Firstly, this isn't a contradiction at all. The kidnapping of a noblelady does not excuse the murder of a nobleman, equivalent exchange does not apply in wartime situations, that's absurd. Secondly, the Princess was only captured after the Archduke of Courland lead an attack to murder a Baron in Haense without provocation or any attempt at diplomacy. The Princess was kept in a cell alive and very much unharmed until she was freed. She was kept as a comfortable prisoner in good health, supplied with food, water, and everything else she could need. Obviously it was not a kind act but it was one deemed necessary due to the obvious incursions from Courland, and the princess was never actually harmed. Also, the noble who was """"diplomatically""" sent to negotiate for the Princess' release came armed, with a party of armed men, who drew weapons on the Karlsburg guards and were promptly defeated. In fact, the son of that nobleman later seceded from Courland and said that his father did go to Haense with violent intent and that it was an act of suicide." "You were not called to terms by an ally. You aided Savoyard rebels of your own accord after they came to your throne room and requested it. You had signed no treaty with them and they were brigands rather than an actual faction. You had no obligation to aid them whatsoever. "It's baffling that people continue to insist that the noble Edward was murdered. He was never harmed. He is still alive. Should you wish, you could send a bird to him and speak with him RIGHT NOW. I simply cannot comprehend why it is so impossibly difficult to convey to you people that EDWARD ROSWELL IS ALIVE. Also, the first person to draw arms was Frederick Staunton-Baden as confirmed by every single eyewitness who was not actively participating and fighting WITH Courland. The Ruthern men only drew arms after Frederick Staunton-Baden did and in fact only after Adelwen Ruthern shouted "Protect the Count," referring to said 8 year old. And even after that, the men of House Ruthern attempted to retreat rather than fight against the Courlanders but were cut down while attempting to flee. It's disgusting how you spread such evil lies without a second thought. Truly, you are either a very evil man or a very deluded one." Responds Nikolai.
