  5. The Study of the Rhenyari Relics Published on the 6th of Owyn's Flame, 1807 Introduction Since arriving back from the lands of Ba’as, my mind has been buzzing with the stories and history of the Rhenyari, and in an attempt to satisfy these visions, I have decided to write a paper on a few of the Rhenyari Relics which I have seen or own. Rhenyari Relic of Simon Basrid Colonel Basrid’s Riding Sabre This riding sabre is made of steel and brass and was gifted to Simon Basrid when he was appointed as Colonel of the ISA. It is was made during the 18th century but is still in remarkable condition after all these years. Stories that circulate around this sabre say that it was personally used during the Second War of Orcish Aggression. The date 1734 is etched into the hilt and the proverb “I am Owyn Son of Godwin, servant of the Lord” is etched onto the other side. A cherished weapon by the old Colonel and Arch Chancellor, I am pleased to say that this relic has survived the test of time. Relic of Darius Sabari Colonel Sabari’s Riding Sabre A weathered and used riding sabre that has been out of commission for some years. This sabre was a personal relic to the Colonel and has signs of everyday use. It is rumored that this sword was used in the rescue mission of Empress Lorena Augusta and on the Sabari March - an event that solidified him as “The Colonel”. Etched on one hilt of this sword is the famous Rhenyari saying “Every man’s life is a fairy tale written by GOD’s finger.” Relics of Jasper Carrington Jasper Carrington’s Wanted Poster Well not necessarily a relic to Jasper Carrington, this is an integral part of Rhenyari history nonetheless. During a hectic time of Helena’s history, where people were being arrested for riots, barfights, and petty crime, Jasper’s wanted poster is one of the few posters that survived to this day. Jasper was sentenced to two years in prison for Sedition, Disorderly Conduct, and Violent Assault. He served his entire sentence before he ascended to nobility and to a cabinet position. A copy of the wanted poster is included below. Rhenyari Tome An aged book passed down through the lines of Jasper Carrington that predates the arrival of the original Rhenyari. Suspected to be from a scholar in Ba’as, this book contains information about the Rhenyari of the past, specifically their language, culture types, and beliefs. Relic of Jahan Basrid Jahan’s Gunner Uniform One of the last remaining pristine Gunner uniforms, this was once used every day in wartime before the ISA formed into what it is today. Used in many different climates, conditions, and missions, this uniform and the legacy of the Gunners is and will always be an integral part of Oren’s history. Below is a depiction of young Jahan Basrid in his uniform. Relic of Cyrus Basrid Cyrus Basrid’s Headband A surprisingly clean and well-kept headband that was used every day by Cyrus Basrid. The story behind the relic is that after Cyrus had the letters “VRA” (Short for Ves Republican Army) carved into his forehead, he decided to wear the headband in order to cover up the scars that it left behind. While some may think this object does not deserve to be in a paper such as this, it should be noted that there were many family fights and arguments over who inherited such a thing - though it now rests in my possession. Relics of Anthony Basrid Gazanama - Legendary star chart An old and ancient chart listing the names and displaying the designs of the seven Arcane Zodiacs, Kitran, Esa, Tephes, Nam, Mahara, Barraman, and Arsan, among other stars. These Zodiacs have deep meaning to the Rhenyari and this scroll is believed to be some few hundred years old. It was gifted to me by a family relative in Ba’as. Star Compass A portable compass made out of star steel that I acquired in my youth. Hues of green shine throughout whenever light strikes its structure. The design reminds me of an old sundial, but I assure you that it has a needle that points dead north. There are faint wear marks along the edges due to many adventures, but the instrument still works without fault A Note from the Author Hello! 6. An artist’s depiction of the House of Commons building. A Fire in Providence It was the 12th of Horen’s Calling when court had just ended in Providence. Many were returning home after eating a delicious meal when calls were heard. Quiet at first, the calls soon grew louder. I was within the crowd when the calls were heard, calls of a fire that had broken out in the heart of Providence. The large crowd surged forward as they began towards the House of Commons building and arrived at the scene soon after the soldiers had, many of whom rushed inside the building, grabbed buckets, or assisted the crowd. A multitude of shouts were heard from the working soldiers, though the crowd was quiet for the most part. Soon a few statesmen rushed inside the building, desperate to save any papers they had been working on, but it all seemed in vain. A few long moments after statesmen and soldiers had rushed in, the windows blew out, and moments after that, the ceiling collapsed. Many prayers go out to the heroic soldiers, statesmen, and people who attempted to put out the flames and who entered the building. May we never forget the day of the 12th of Horen’s Calling, 1809. -Anthony Alexios Basrid
  7. Anthony questions where these “hordes” and “crowds” of people are, and also questions when the last time they had a king was. He then walked away from the crazy man shouting to himself in the square.
  8. Seems like there's a lot to keep track of in the red lines, especially with the pregnancy / cooldown on it, pedal harvesting cooldown, how the pedals need to be ST signed, and how they can go bad. Especially when birthed ones come into the equation, the amount of work needed & dates to keep track of by ST and players only multiplies. 120 year life span personally seems like a lot considering them can give birth at least 3-4 times during that. Also should note that you only say ST approval is needed for catching them, but not for them being birthed. Perhaps if nothing was ST signed it would be more reasonable to keep track of but then there's the problem of people spamming the pedals.
  9. A Theory on the Titanic Bones of the Kharasi Oasis Published on the 6th of Godfrey’s Triumph, 1808 A depiction of some titanic bones in the Kharasi Oasis Introduction Since publishing my paper about the Kharasi Oasis, I have been approached with a theory that could possibly explain the Titanic Bones that are found in the desert regions. This paper aims to explain the theory and the reason that I believe it is valid. The Theory This theory, as proposed by Dilvyn Deveral and discussed between him and myself goes something like this. Long ago, before any descendants arrived in Almaris, there were many different primitive tribespeoples that lived throughout the lands. These people lived and created the structures in the Elvenesse and Krugmar regions, lived nomadically in the desert, and also lived in small structures in the north. During the time that these people controlled the continent that we know as Almaris, Titans of sorts roamed these lands. It is believed that these tribespeoples - specifically the ones of the Kharasi Desert region - hunted these Titans. After hunting these large beings, these tribespeoples would then take off all the skin, fur, and flesh from them to be used for various crafts and for religious purposes. It is also believed that many of these tribes went nearly extinct close to the same time that the Titans did, perhaps from a lack of available food or resources. While this may seem like a stretch so far, there is evidence to back up our theories. The Evidence Evidence Piece One: The first piece of evidence that supports our theory is the odd writings and runes on some of the large bones. While some may claim that these scribbles were done by descendants, there is currently no translation available for these writings, which supports the idea that these writings are from long before our time. The purpose or reason for these writings is unclear, but I theorize that it was done to mark which tribe killed which beast. Evidence Piece Two: The second piece of evidence is that there have been sightings of these tribespeoples along the Druid Grove’s path. For a few years now, there have been multiple sightings of these primitive tribespeoples, and while I currently do not know where they reside or where they went, these primitive people may hold the key to what happened in the past on this continent. I would personally advise people to be careful and not resort to violence if they spot these tribespeoples, as it is important to try and communicate peacefully with them first. Evidence Piece Three: The third and final piece of evidence that supports our theory is the name that was given to this continent by the peoples long before us. Before we arrived in Almaris, the continent was once known as “The Lands of Titans”.This may seem like a small piece of evidence, it should be noted that this means these people lived in the same time period as these titans or have heard stories passed down by people who have, as they most certainly would have called the lands by a different name if they had only seen the bones. A Note from the Author Hello! I am Anthony Alexios Basrid and I’d like to thank Dilvyn Deveral for coming to me with this theory as well as with information about other natural oddities in our world. If you would like to add to, debate, or talk about this theory or others, please do not hesitate to contact me! 11. The Study of the Kharasi Oasis & Desert Regions Published on the 15th of Sigismund’s End, 1807 A sketch depiction of the desert lands of Kharasi. Introduction Since arriving in these new lands it has become evident to me that people have tended to build civilizations in the more moderate or cold biomes of Almaris. Since noticing such, I have made it my goal to explore the lands in which people have not yet touched. This research paper is a product of such action. The Kharasi Desert’s Structure While it may look like one continuous desert at first glance, the Kharasi Desert can be separated into three separate areas. The first area will be referred to as the Oasis as it contains grass, mountains, trees, and bones. The second area will be referred to as The Dry Lake for reasons explained later in this paper. The third and final area will be called the Red Desert, as the sand takes on a red hue in these lands. The Kharasi Oasis is what most would expect when they hear the word “Desert”. This Oasis mainly contains two different variants of trees. The first type of tree has a large trunk and canopies and the second type has small trunks and thinner canopies. It is to be noted that these lands are quite mountainous in terrain and also contain bones seemingly from creatures much larger than ourselves. While walking around these lands I stumbled upon a ribcage about thirty meters in length, as well as a seemingly humanoid skull some seven meters in height on the side of a mountain. It does not take much to imagine what type of beasts once roamed these lands, or what beasts perhaps do still roam these lands. The Dry Lake is an area of the Kharasi Desert which is estimated to be about twenty to thirty meters below sea level. When first entering the area, one may think that it is merely a small section of the desert - or something to be ignored entirely, but in actuality, it is the opposite. This dry lake covers somewhere from one-third to one-fourth of the desert region and may actually have quite an interesting story to it (read below). This region is mainly composed of brittle rock, sand, and sunken or destroyed boats. The Red Desert is a land directly to the east of the Dry Lake. The distinct feature of these lands is listed in the name, the red appearance of the sand, but besides the color difference in the sand and the mysterious city, this land is almost entirely the same as the Kharasi Oasis. Struggles of the Desert Traversing the Desert is not an easy task, and some deal of preparation should be done before such. I encountered quite a few problems in my travels, even with great preparation. The first problem I encountered was the lack of water, and though I did bring copious amounts extra, natural water was still unseen throughout my entire journey. I would personally advise bringing double the amount of water you’d normally consume. A second problem was the difficulty with the winds and sands blowing, specifically into my face and eyes, it is advised that one should wear goggles and have some sort of face-covering if they wish to venture into the sands. Finally, the last problem I encountered was difficulty navigating with the limited number of landmarks, and to combat this, I would suggest bringing a compass, and perhaps a set of maps. Mysteries of the Desert While studying these vast desert lands, a few mysteries or questions have prompted their way into my mind. These questions are as followed: Mystery One The first mystery of the desert revolves around the large bone pieces found scattered throughout the desert lands, though this mystery specifically revolves around the size of such. With some of these bones measuring over thirty feet, it is certainly not an exaggeration to call these beasts giants, but without skin or fur, we cannot properly access what they would have truly looked like. Mystery Two The second mystery is the dry lake - specifically how it used to be a lake full of water. I came to the conclusion that this was once filled with water because of the numerous boats scattered across the lands, and also by the types of rocks located inside of the crater. The main mystery of this revolves around how it dried out, specifically, what could be the cause of such? Mystery Three The third mystery stems from the fact that many of the boats in the dry lake are split in half or destroyed entirely. But how could these boats split in such a fashion? Were the creatures of the past truly so big that they could snap them in half as if they were nothing? Are such creatures still alive, or did the boats merely break due to their age? Mystery Four The fourth mystery the newest of all of them, and it begins with an “Aliyah of Brev”. This man has discovered a ruined city, deep in the Red Desert, and while the contents within such a city lie hidden for now, I believe they will soon be exposed. Below is a depiction of such a city. Map of the Dry Lake Above is a map of the Dry Lake, with a few distinct features noted. The blue highlights are the positions of the sunken boats, and the large circle in the middle is the structure of brittle rocks - which I suspect to be coral. One final thing to note is the red circle to the north, which is an odd pillar with a serpent design wrapping around it. I suspect this was built after the lake was drained, or dried up. A Note from the Author Hello! I am Anthony Alexios Basrid and this was one of my many research papers. I hope you enjoyed my study on the Kharasi Desert, and I plan to write a follow-up paper on the desert ruins as I learn more about it. If you have any questions, feel free to send a bird. 12. Amthalion Wick heard of the news but a moment before he finished his last drink. Pausing for a long moment, he then spoke. “I knew you since I was but a boy, and I took the Wick name for you, but it was never enough.” He sighed midway through his words, a hand soon pushing away a man that had been listening. “But I am not surprised. While others took bets at my life, you enjoyed the castle. But as people seem to find out, castle life doesn’t save you from a blade, and a blade won’t halt its progress because you hold a quill and write for the greater good.” Glancing towards the listening man once more, he shook his head. “Rest well, but there are still things for others to do here before we join you.” Amthalion then took the bottle from which he had been drinking from and promptly slammed it over the listening mans head, for he was not an elf of words but one of action, and he felt like a good bar fight was needed.

  14. The Young Lord looked over the various outfits in his room, deciding which to wear. It didn't take long before he saw an old Rhenyari garb, one worn by a renowned statesmen. Nodding once as he tried it on, the Basrid then smiled, ready for his special day.

  19. A young Basrid descendent of Jahan sat at his desk, furiously reading over some papers of work that had piled up. Turning over one paper only to read the next, his brows quickly furrowed. "No, this paper is wrong." He concluded as he set it aside to be reread later. Sitting alone in his room later that night, he remembered the earlier paper and began to read it once more. Showing a rare spark of sadness, the young scholar wiped at his eyes. "Papu... There was still so much to learn from you." He said, setting the paper aside as another tear rolled down his cheek. "I will carry on the Rhenyari flame, the teachings of the stars, the language. I swear it." The Basrid would not be seen for many days after reading the paper, and while most could assume it was due to his work, a few close friends knew of his mourning alone in his room, his longing gaze looking up to the stars and zodiacs that his Papu had once told him about.
