  2. A veiled mali'ker found solace beneath the ancient boughs of the memory tree, its canopy concealing the night sky above. Yet, his gaze still managed to find the minor crevasses in the foliage the moon managed to pierce through - and with a tender gesture, he'd lay a hand upon his chest and mumur a hushed invocation into the tranquil air about the sacred space. A beat would pass thereafter the prayer, the ker staring quietly at a lit candle- which flickered in tandem with the incense that burned beside it. Turning with a measured demeanor- which had been done with thought as to not disrupt the serene space- he collected a handful of the sacred water that pooled at the tree's roots. As it would pass his lips, the veil of time parted before him, unfurling the tapestry of life he had seen previously first hand. Fifty years gone by in a fleeting moment, yet within that brief expanse he measured certain memories with careful exprobation. He'd peer then at the missive he had been clutching throughout the duration of this mournful ritual- one that had been penned to a Mirasul of Clan Val'taelu. The 'ker would break the silence only then, speaking aloud: "Koltira continue to guide me. I have another stop to make before returning home."
  3. A SQUIRE'S THESIS ON CHARITY Published on the 12th of The Deep Cold, 1976 "So I am the Most High, and in pursuit of my Virtue, I bid my faithful this: You shall not desire the wealth of this world, nor the wealth of others, but the wealth of the spirit." (Virtue 2:10) - "I am the Lord GOD without peer, and My abundance is the holy abundance, and My wealth is the virtuous wealth, and all the blessings of the Virtue shall fall before the righteous who share it." (Virtue 2:11) Within the holy scrolls a numerous amount of virtues are outlined, each leading back to a singular guiding principle that directs the children of GOD away from the pursuit of material wealth and success and instead towards the embracement of GOD’s wealth of spirit. In this humble treatise, I shall embark to showcase my exploration of this noble virtue of charity which I have come to believe is the cornerstone of righteous living in our tumultuous era. As we navigate the challenges of life, we are called to heed to teachings of holy scriptures and the wisdom of our forebears whom found the greatest joys in acts of compassion and benevolence. Take for example the Venerated Queen Amaya who dedicated her life to charity for her people or King James I of Aaun whose court was well known for its religious vigor and charity to the people of the capital. Through discussion, the essence of spiritual charity and its profound importance will become apparent in our quest for eternal salvation. Spiritual charity, as understood by the wise and pious of our time, is the sacred act of extending compassion, kindness, and benevolence to our fellow Descendants, inspired by a deep reverence for GOD and a profound love for all of his creations. It transcends all concerns and material wealth, reaching into the depths of the human body to nurture virtues such as humility, empathy, and selflessness. The Supremacy of Spiritual Charity Amidst the myriad virtues extolled by sages and scholars, spiritual charity reigns supreme as the crowning jewel of human goodness and piety. Unlike fleeting riches and worldly honors, the treasures amassed through acts of spiritual charity endure for eternity, enriching both the giver and the receiver with divine grace and blessings. Reasons for Its Supremacy In an age marked by strife, suffering, and moral decay, spiritual charity emerges as the surest path to divine favor and eternal bliss. It is through the practice of spiritual charity that we embody the teachings of our faith and fulfill our sacred duty to love and serve our fellow beings. By turning our hearts towards the divine and imitating His boundless compassion, we find fulfillment and purpose in the service of others, knowing that our deeds are pleasing to GOD and worthy of reward. How to Follow This Virtue To follow in the noble virtue of spiritual charity, one must cultivate a heart filled with love, compassion, and empathy for all creation. This entails practicing acts of kindness, generosity, and forgiveness towards our fellow beings, regardless of their station in life or circumstances. Such examples could be as simple as giving out extra bread during the winter colds or complimenting a fellow traveler's cloak. By embodying the virtues of humility and selflessness, we emulate the example set forth by the saints and martyrs who came before us, paving the way for favor and salvation. Conclusion Let us heed the call to embrace the virtue of spiritual charity as the highest expression of righteousness and piety in our time. In a world plagued by sin and moral decay, let us strive to cultivate hearts rich in compassion, kindness, and goodwill toward all creation. By embodying the teachings of our faith and extending love and mercy to our fellow beings, we secure our place in the Seven Skies, where we shall dwell in eternal bliss and communion with the divine. SIGNED, The Honorable, Leufroy Otto von Reuss, Count of Revedin
  4. Deep within the recesses of the Underkrug, the imposing Skorkon'Ugluk sharpened its claws upon the stones. It opened its lips and spoke in the elder tongue of its clan, "Hakathza-Karz. Gulathza-Hari. Ha-Qarkah. Ha-Karazept. Ha-Uruk."

  6. The King's Cupbearer, Milena vas Ruthern, pondered upon the contents of that public letter in relation to that mysterious trunk of free parchment offered in the name of her family beside the city's aviary. As of yet, her ducal sister and their father had yet to uncover the individual responsible for its placement. "Let us hope the trickster does niet get us into trouble before they're caught," The gloomy girl remarked to herself.

  8. Sigmund Ludovar seeing his papej signing on the missive, he'd nod in approval. "Ai! I agree for this bill! And Ludovar shall stand upon this hill for it!"
  9. "I am Henrik-Otto Ludovar, and I approve of this message." He'd say with a smirk.
  10. Letter to the Royal Duma: ON THE MONOPOLISATION OF PAPER KRUSAE ZWY KONGZEM VA BIRODEO HERZENAV AG ELDERVIK, In the pursuit of maintaining the sovereignty and integrity of our beloved nation, it has come to our attention that certain commodities, though seemingly innocuous, hold the potential to impact the stability and security of our realm. Chief among these is the trade in paper, a humble yet indispensable resource that forms the cornerstone of our administrative, cultural, and educational endeavours. We propose legislation that restricts the sale of paper within Haense, reserving this vital commodity exclusively to the Crown and its council to cultivate and sell. This measure is not one of arbitrary control, but rather a safeguarding of our nation's interests and a strategic manoeuvre to ensure the responsible management of this resource for the benefit of all our citizens. The rationale behind such legislation is multifaceted: 1. Security: Paper, in its various forms, often contains sensitive information vital to the functioning of our government and the protection of our citizens. By centralising its distribution under the auspices of the Crown and its council, we mitigate the risk of unauthorised access and safeguard against potential breaches of confidentiality. 2. Quality Assurance: By monopolising the sale of paper, we can establish and enforce rigorous quality standards, ensuring that all paper used within our borders meets the requisite criteria for durability, archival stability, and environmental sustainability. This not only enhances the efficacy of our administrative processes but also reflects our commitment to excellence in all facets of governance. 3. Economic Stability: By controlling the supply of paper, we can stabilise market fluctuations and prevent speculative practices that may lead to artificial scarcity or price gouging. This ensures that paper remains affordable and accessible to all sectors of society, thereby fostering economic equity and social cohesion. 4. Cultural Preservation: Paper is not merely a utilitarian commodity but a vessel for the preservation and transmission of our cultural heritage. By entrusting its distribution to the custodianship of the Crown and Its council, we affirm our commitment to preserving and promoting the rich tapestry of Haeseni culture for future generations. In light of these considerations, we urge the Royal Duma to deliberate upon and enact legislation that formalises the exclusive right of the Crown and its council to sell paper within Haense. This measure, far from being a constraint on individual liberties, is a proactive step towards ensuring the prosperity, security, and cultural vitality of our nation. IV JOVEO MAAN, HER HIGHNESS, Stefaniya Barbanov-Bihar THE MOST HONOURABLE, Henrik-Otto Ludovar, Margrave of Kvasz JURASZ VE KOENGZ DUMA “KRUSAE ZWY KONGZEM.” EA BYK ZWE ZANYOTSKER ZWEER EA TER PETRAVEZKER. “I WOULD HAVE PERISHED HAD I NOT PERSISTED.” INTRODUCTION To protect the state of the treasury of the crown, this bill defines those who perform the wrongful act of selling paper within the nation of Haense to be thieves of the Crown. Addition Section VII.VIII will be added to the Haurul Caezk. It shall read: Ch. VII. “Regarding theft, trespass, and general menace” VII.VIII. Let he who wrongfully administers the distribution of paper upon Haeseni land be guilty of theft. Introduced in Duma by Stefaniya Barbanov-Bihar and Henrik-Otto Ludovar in 529 E.S
  11. Carlos Salazar smiles upon reading the missive, before eagerly starting to Prepare wedding gifts for his brother Joaquin and his soon to be sister-in-law Gabriela. "I'm sure this will be a Joyous Occasion!" He then stands up to go check on the cattle to make sure none of them escaped as that seems to be happening a lot lately. "The cattle better not escape during the wedding; I don't want to miss anything"
  12. "Huh. Cool." Nicolas said as he read that he had been invited while at work in the fields. Nicolas didn't think of it for too long though, as the hot sun demanded that he keep on going with his labor before he burnt his skin too badly. "I wonder if they would like some fresh vegetables." He said as he swung his scythe against the wheat he was harvesting.

You’ve just arrived in a swampy, dim town. As you look around, your gaze is met with shacks and cabins. It smells of rotted wood and wet moss. You duck and step into a tattered tent, illuminated by a series of candles suspended in the air. At the back of the tent, an old hag raises her head, “What brings you to this dingy town? she begins, then pauses to study your face—”Ah, it’s you. I’ve been expecting you. Sit,” she gestures at a cushion, “Tell me your story.” ((How do you respond?)) Example: She sat at the cushion a bit hesitantly. "You know who I am? I've never seen your face before." Daria looked around a bit suspicious of the woman. Keeping her blade close by just in case. Daria's face then contorted into a confused look. "My story? You don't want to know about my story trust me miss." She looked out the tent at a dim light across the way. "I must get going now." "Oh, I just, uh…" you stutter, tensing up. You eye the crone, then back outside the tent. For a moment, the air thickens with anticipation, until…

  15. The publications of the various works by her fellow kin reached the Fawn Druid from the confines of her abode within the Watcher's Roost. Curiosity indeed peaked at such, given she, herself being a Herald of the Sage, yet found this news to her. More so then with her Brother's missive that she now sees some communication was not passed. "O-..oh dear. I remember the original writings. But while I respect Ms. Sun's viewpoint, I simply will continue following the teachings of the Sage as I was taught. Which my cousin actually told me about the conflict of the original works and this path before. Given he was not an elf." she would softly murmur towards Zaelyn.
  16. A certain blonde haired, green eyed elfess gazed upon the missive. Upon reading the missive, Ariselle gave a bright and wide smile. She was happy for Raziel and the Amethil talonnii and has seen firsthand how hard they were working. "Well done Raziel! I'm proud of you! I look forward to the future and the amazing things this talonnii will accomplish and the potential they will bring!" The elfess carefully folded the missive for safekeeping, then gazed outside her window quietly to enjoy the sunlight and clear skies.

"These words are spoken true, I grant my utmost respect for someone besides myself willing to speak out. My creed will follow no such laws of 'The Creed Pact', our ways cannot be changed on a whim." The elfess hummed "Well spoken Brother."

  22. Recently Ben asked what a true hero is. I decided to modify his question to ask two new questions. What is a true antihero? And why don't I (and maybe others will agree with me) see more antihero type personas in lotc? Why is it always super good moral heroes or super evil darkspawn villains with little middleground? Would love to hear some thoughts on this topic from the community at large.

antiheroes are just extreme heroes in fantasy tropes. you aren’t really constrained to the idea of morality and you are just normally pursuing threats that aren’t human. nuances of “extreme violence” don’t rly apply when ppl die for stealing or insulting people without thought.

Yeah, i get that, in lotc a lot of crimes are just death without thought. But why is that the standard with little change ya know? Is it too hard to switch it up or change?

    4. ScreamingDingo

      ScreamingDingo

lol, it is. Cultural roots from the last decade are hard to dislodge, so as anti hero as you get is just the radicalisation of xannites and Templars to enforce justice
