The First Krugmas

This is the story of the very first Krugmas. As it is known to have happened.

In the latter years of the reign of Rex Krug, a war between the humans and orcs had raged for twelve years. The humans were then abundant in multitude and the orcs, who had put aside their tribal wars to face a common enemy, were already dwindling in number. Things were looking grim. But Krug was defiant against the hoards of men and at sunset, on what is now known as Krugmas Eve, he rallied his troops for a retaliation on the following day. But the uruk barracks was bare. There was nerry a hammer nor an axe to be found within its halls.

Nevertheless that night they feasted. Perhaps for the last time. A large pine tree was brought into the camp stretching high above the tents so that all could see. When it was set on fire, the twinkling of sparks could be seen for miles. Halflings were strung up about the tree and slow roasted to delicious perfection. And somehow as night set on, the desserts of Krugmar received its only recorded snowfall in history. The orcs were overwhelmed with joy and, with plump bellies and cheerful hearts, all fell into a deep slumber.

With first morning light the eager orcs arose for battle. Their joy from the last night had faded. Ambitious though they were for the thrill of war, their doom was inevitable. But as each orc arose from their bed, what was it that lay in their doorway but a razor edged sword, or a jagged mace? In front of every tent lay a piece of shining weaponry. Massive machetes, harmful halberds, sharpened sabers, tremendous tomahawks, fantastic flails and wild warhammers. It was a Krugmas miracle.

But Krug was nowhere to be found in the camp. No one had seen him since the night before and it seemed as if he had disappeared altogether. Without their Rex the orcs carried on with the attack. Now brandishing brilliant weapons they marched from Krugmar into the heart of Oren. They approached the wall that represented the border into human lands (for at that time all that remained of the City of Oren was the pillars Aemon and Daemon) to find that the gates were open and no guards in sight. The orcs entered the town and heard an arising clatter. There were screams, confusion, humans running left and right. And there, amidst it all, with a huge club held over his head, stood Krug. He roared and swung the club down upon an armoured guard whose steel chest-plate crumpled upon impact. With a thunderous laugh he called out to the gathering orcs "ged ub here bruddahs, da hummies be flatted". As the force of orcs descended upon the town, the humans scattered in search of weapons. But every home was empty, the armoury left bare. At a loss they begun to flee, but many were cutdown in a relentless bloodbath. And before the noon of that same day, every street was decorated with lifeless bodies.

Returning to Krugmar in glorious victory, the orcs were lead by their mighty Rex, his clothes now died a rich crimson from the blood of his enemies. And to all the good little cubs he handed a disembodied head. It was a time of great celebration and the miraculous power of Krug, and Krugmas.

These days tall pine trees are decorated with fiery lights and shining decorations for Krugmas Eve. Some hang stockings in their homes or on doors in the hopes that the Spirit of Krug might come in his red suit and deliver them presents. And little boys and girls will leave out cooked halfling so that a hungry Krug might partake of a Krugmas feast.

Well, you'd be surprised. Pumpkineer and Pumpkiness did take over all ooc holidays ic back in 2011 and 2012. Halloween was the time they were most active during, spreading madness and pranks all over the land, and Christmas was the time they gifted pumpkins with cookies and other goodies stuffed inside to random individuals in the Cloud Temple of Asulon.

Being considered gods by the players really helped make those experiences a lot more enjoyable for everyone. They even got their own little army of pumpkin goblins, who were pretty much their elves.

Nevertheless that night they feasted. Perhaps for the last time. A large pine tree was brought into Sanjezal and erected in the center of town so that all could see. When it was set on fire, the twinkling of sparks could be seen by all. Halflings were strung up about the tree and slow roasted to delicious perfection. And somehow as night set on, the desserts of Krugmar received its only recorded snowfall in history. The orcs entered within the walls and could hear an arising clatter. There were screams, confusion, humans running left and right. Very nicely written, although I would change a bet of it to fit lore, here are my suggestions, Sanjezal was not around when Krug lived at that time they were just roving nomads. Also Alkhazar did not exist as well, but at that time the City of Oren did which was ruled over by Horen, also Krug destroyed the City of Horen with a huge sandstorm, and what was left of it were the towers of Aemon and Deamon. So those changes would fit very well in your story.

I knew there'd be stuff. That section of history is a bit patchy but I knew there'd be someone who knew it.
