The absence of a rule six, and 3 rules 8's is making my OCD go crazy.

After a day's worth of testing and discussion, the staff team has found a noticeable issue in regards to horses. As mentioned in many general feedback threads, the state of horses is imbalanced at the moment, given that post-patch horses are far inferior to pre-patch horses. While post-patch horses muster around 10-12 speed and 25 health from a legendary breeder, pre-patch horses can have 20 speed and over 150+ health from the same skill set, making it a very unfair advantage that cannot be replicated in the current nexus environment.

Thus, we are going to prohibit horses from the warzone and see how that impacts the conflict. Anyone caught using a horse may face punishment.

The only breeders with notable horses are Travista, and Ioannis, as well as some random others, mainly those two. Both of them are on separate sides. Both sides have perfectly even chances to get any kinds of horses. So...its pretty ******* dull.

PS: I don't even own a horse

I don't think anyone on the Dwarven side uses a pre-patch horse. So I don't really believe that it is an issue. The real issue is that Oren doesn't have good breeders, atleast compared to the other factions involved. Isn't that a convenience. I love this server but what is the RP reason behind not being able to use a horse while riding through a warzone. There isn't any. I can only speak for Dunamis but we all have Ryno/Ioannis's horses, that are aengulic breeders.

Can't agree more, plus if we wanted trench warfare why are we gonna use horses in trenches? What's the point

The issue seems to be that the nerf hit legendary to veteran breeders the hardest while doing little to nerf Aengulic+ horses. I'll cite a conversation with Spookyleann, a legendery breeder, for example

[12/10/15, 8:54:33 PM] Cracker: you only breed horses that are 20 health?
[12/10/15, 8:54:47 PM] SpookyLeann: Sometimes 50 but never seen anything higher
[12/10/15, 8:54:56 PM] SpookyLeann: 50 is rare for me
[12/10/15, 8:55:09 PM] Cracker: what is the average
[12/10/15, 8:55:35 PM] SpookyLeann: 25

The issue is not that one side has more OP horses than the others; after all, the Orcs are fighting with Oren, and they have a Daemonic breeder in travista. The issue is moreso that breeding has such a high skill creep that it is imbalanced between the two tiers of Legendary and Aengulic. I understand it may seem frustrating, but all this is largely just for bragging rights, there's little to be lost here and the staff can learn a lot in improving PvP by experimenting with what is allowed and what isn't.

As for RP reasons why, you can argue that the the countless trenches, uneven terrain, and terrible weather would mitigate a horses' combat ability. While that's not the ideal justification, there's countless precedent of where we balance the game over accommodating for every RP niche.

Yeah, there is a clear discrepancy between horses between angeulic and legendary in breeding at the moment. Angeulic and Legendary have never been different in game, and that can be seen in every skill, such as black smithing which only reduces a small % of weight in armor when achieving aengulic.

there is literally no counter to these cannon-mounted segways (mc horses)? help!!!!

By the way. Studded leather isn't real and it doesn't make your arrows more effective. I hate it so much. Also infinity bows make woodworkers a bit less useful.

Being a legendary breeder myself I have had no trouble making horses with 18+ speed and over 120 health; the reference horses you were breeding with must have been vanilla horses that were spawned in, in which case comparatively low-stat horses makes sense. Any legendary breeder with "pre-patch" horses should be able to breed horses with stats similar to or even better than the parents.

tbh, removing/nerfing horses away takes a huge advantage away from the dwarves, one they obtained through playing the game as it was designed. The change essentially undermines the roleplay and the effort that the dwarves put in to this war and that makes me sad.

I also gave galendar a ton of shitty vanilla horses during the adria revolt, which might cause spookylean's horse woes. Horse statistics are, to some extent, hereditary, right?

rip.
