WT Update Log - January

Hello, and welcome to the January WT Update Log. We'll be going over some of the changes to the team's roster, updates on long term projects, and even updates to the Wiki's software.

I mentioned in the last update plans to renew the project of copying all of the Lore on the forums onto the Wiki, and I am happy to say that that was not just an empty promise. Work on the project has restarted, to much success: over the past two weeks, twelve pages had been completed and currently being looked over by the Lore Team. I know that might not seem like much in the grand scheme of things, but over these two weeks have just about crossed out two subsections of the Lore subforum. If that keeps up, I believe we can get at least four subforums finished by the end of this month.

With these changes, there are a total of 12 members on the Wiki Team. I would like to thank all those who have left for their hard work, and welcome with open arms our new arrivals.

As some of you might have/hopefully noticed, the Wiki was down for a while on Tuesday. That is because the software was being updated, for the first time since Tahmas set it up in December 2015. Most of the changes were security updates such as making it so that I can't just reset someone’s password whenever I want, but a couple of changes that you might notice are that there is now a section in the editor that shows you what specific changes you have made to a page, and the overall look of the editor has been updated. Unless there is a major breakthrough in further updates on the Wiki's software that would be 100% needed (i.e. patching of major security risks), this will probably not be happening again for quite some time, so you only have to worry about our 'scheduled' Saturday Shutdowns.

For those who have not seen, the Wiki Team is hosting a contest to see who can create the most informative and eye appealing article for a geographical location on Atlas. Please see this post for more information.

The Wiki had an overall increase in activity for this month, with an 11% increase in the number of contributors this month, jumping from 36 to 40 people who have contributed to the Wiki over the past month, and between all of the active users on the Wiki, 877 actions (an action being essentially any change to a page or things such as creating accounts) were performed on the Wiki. However, the number of pages created this month has decreased by 20%, going from 35 to 28 pages. This should come as good news to many of you, as in the last update we showed a lot of pages that were started but never finished. Many of the pages created this month have been filled out beyond a bare skeleton.

And that's it for this month. See you next time, hopefully with even brighter news and maybe even graphs!

How Devvy continues to thrive on various teams I'll never know. . .

Either way, good work all. How does one go about contributing to the wiki without joining the team?

EDIT: Feel like saying this is necessary, first part is a meme. Devvy is cool.

Just PM me or another Wiki Team member on Discord, the forums, or in game with the username you want for the Wiki and either an email or, if you'd rather not give that away, a password we can put in that you can later change.

Non-team members can edit and even create pages just like we can, you don't need us to post or approve it for you like some seem to think. Just pick a topic, figure out the formatting, and off ya go on an editing adventure.

Only moderators can delete pages though or create accounts for people.
