A departure, and a dissolution

The child of Velulaei wavers

To the Ashen Folk of Renelia,

All reigns come to an end eventually, and so must mine. Many years ago I was known as Mortal King, then Archon, and now simply Ailmar. Throughout the years many have found enjoyment in my misery, and thus at last I tell them: you have won.

The fallen of Vira’ker, who started a war for reasons still unknown to me, you have won. You never failed to kill us, nor to genocide our kin; but you have managed to break me. Lies, slander and bloodshed are all you ever resorted to. You needed bandits to fight your wars. Rhys and Zaos never dared show your faces to me, for you are and always will be remembered as cowards. You failed to kill us, but it matters little in the end, for you have won.

Rhaella Ashwood, the woman I once loved, you have won. I trusted you, and you were the one to truly give me warmth in my cold life. You abandon my comatose body, my sons and your sisters. You move to a Shade infested den and then attempt to kill one of my councillors. Why you have resorted to such is beyond me Rhaella, but it matters little in the end, for you have won.

The Warhawkes of Aegrothond, who spread nothing but lies of me and my kin, you have won. Why any of you hold onto the belief that I once genocided your kin is beyond me, for you fail to realize there were Warhawkes living in Renelia, many years ago. You fail to realize your kin has never been harmed within our walls before for being Warhawkes. It matters little in the end, for you have won.

You have all won, you have won in breaking my will, my drive and my love for my people. You have managed to push an already broken man over the edge, and for that I applaud you. There are still those that remain close to my heart, and even after I depart I will never forget about you.

Everything must come to an end, and so must Renelia. It is therefore that I, Ailmar Velulaei’onn, Archon of Renelia, declare the Renelian state to be dissolved. Its titles are no longer valid, and whoever feels the need to use them or claims them otherwise is an imposter.

I will remain within the palace of New Magara’lin until this city falls into ruin. It will be my final resting place, and none shall take the city for as long as I wander within its empty halls.

Signed,

Ailmar Velulaei’onn

The last Archon of Renelia

The following letters are sent out to specific individuals, and are not known to the public unless the individuals reveal them themselves.

To Aroen and Maln,

Only one of you is still with us, but it matters little to me. You were my mentors, and the two of you made me who I am to this day. Our Clan is divided now, I truly wished it would have been different. I can only thank you both for what you have given to me, the lessons you taught me and the memories you have given me. One day we will meet again Aroen, and I look forward to that day.

Your brother

Your son

Ailmar

@Malinor @edelos

To Vaeril and Veris,

My sons, who still are the closest to my heart. I miss you both, and I truly hope all is well. You arrived in my time of need, and were there for me when I needed you two the most. I hope someday we may meet again, and I hope you both know that I will always be there. If you need anything, I will be there for you both.

Your father

To Aiyana,

Life was never fair for you, and I have not been as good of an uncle as I should have been. Many things happened that were wrong, and I hope you will one day forgive not only me, but the rest of the family for what happened. You are strong Aiyana, and I truly hope that you will find peace with those that surround you. I wish you and Chloe all the best, and if you ever require my aid you must only ask.

Your uncle

Ailmar

@ThatWeirdGirl

To my council,

I have failed you all. I fell short in guiding you, and for that I can do nothing but apologize. If you all wish to abandon the city, then you may do so. I will not hold anyone here any longer than I have to, and all I want is for you all to find a purpose in life. All of you are strong, and I am proud of everything you have become. Wherever you may go, know that I have always held a deep amount of respect for each and every one of you.

Your Archon

Ailmar

OOC:

The past few months leading Renelia have been an absolute pleasure. I’ve met some amazing people here, and I’ll always think back fondly of most of my time being a part of, and leading this community. Sadly however, certain individuals felt the need to take ooc into rp, and resorted to behavior that has greatly hurt the drive and motivation myself and others had to continue on.

This does not mean I will be leaving the Dark Elves, or the community that was built up through Renelia. I will be forming a new group, aimed to keep the community that was already established alive, and to provide players with a good roleplay experience. Posts on this group will be made during the coming days, so if anyone is interested in making a Dark Elf with us, or join us on their Dark Elf feel free to message me (qɹɐɯ#9406) on Discord! This group consists of players who were with Renelia in the past, and can also be considered a rebrand/fresh start. There will be a completely new culture, a new build and lots of other things.

It’s been a good ride with Renelia, and I’d like to thank those that helped make it possible. What started as a Wood Elf refugee camp with an unfinished build turned into something I, and hopefully many others truly enjoyed. It is a shame certain people resorted to behavior that was immature and generally shitty, but I’m excited for the future with this playerbase.

Ps: **** you to the people that decided to ruin the fun of others out of ooc spite.

Aiyana stood in her small apartment, leaning heavily on the desk where her letter lay. After all that had been done and not done, the last of her family ran. The sickly woman sunk bitterly back down onto her bed, wheezing for air.

Vaeril Velulaei’onn sits back, regretting the clashes he and his father had upon their separation. He would send back a gift; a simple laurel wreath, the sign of a truce. . .

The wagons pulled out from the city. Guilt stung a Mali’kers heart. Making a mental note to return in time to check upon the ‘ker. May he find his peace. To her, Ailmar had been a friend in foreign lands. Apart of her wished he’d find a safer place to live a quiet, happy life. This was not the end, it never would be. May her name rest well. A small group of caravans link together. A new age started once more. Qudlia wonders what Ghorza has laid before her, and her kin.

A dark elf stood within the dark chambers of the palace. He had never been around much. The young man folds his arms across his chest, narrowing his eyes. “You’ll need to leave at some point. We should head home. Take what we have left. And await our next life. Relax, and rest uncle.”

Twilight sat at her desk reading her letter, burying her head into her hands as she shook her head. Renelia having been her home fore the past 38 years or so. The woman then moved outside to the small cave to sit in the darkness with bat and just vent.

“Rhaella Ashwood” Would look over the letter.. her face contorting in confusion for a moment as she responded with “I did only two thirds of what he claimed... to be fair”
