Shmeepicus 4217 Share Posted December 18, 2021 A Truce Broken The Lord Ivan var Ruthern sat still within his room in Kositz, wondering to himself: How do I tell the Grand King what tragedy has befallen me on the eve where we agreed to peace? I can not condemn him, for he was not responsible for the actions of his ill-decisioned kin. It was not the Grand King who had ordered the Irehearts to cut my tongue from my mouth. I can only hope that he hears me, that he respects me, despite what transgressions I may have bestowed upon him in months prior. "To His Majesty, the Grand King of Urguan, I wrote to you, not three months prior, begging for peace for a celebration of our holidays. A celebration of Tuvmas, Dwedmas and Krugmas. You accepted my plea, a most noble display in my own opinion. I write to you today, not to shame you nor undermine your position, as you were not present to oversee these matters that I speak of. I rode with a Dwarf, bearing those facial markings that one could not mistake for anything other than an Ireheart. I escorted him through Providence, yet I was transgressed against. Ulfric, you are a man for whom I respect dearly. I remember those hours, months ago where we had a long conversation regarding the war and the sadness of it. I have a profound respect for you, as well as a number on your council. The Ireheart’s are those I have grievance with, for their brash, insubordinate ideals are a cancer that plagues your Kingdom. I sat in their halls today, under a white flag, a flag of truce, only to be met with hatred by all but one Ragrin Ireheart. I came with him to Urguan, to discuss the case of a potential grievance committed against a mere child, and one who I'd heard referred to as Bakir entered the hall, quick to strike against me. I desperately tried to explain my situation to him, that I was here only to help serve justice against one who would harm a child, that I was there under your own blessing and that my intent was not one of malice or spite. I was there, genuinely to assist you and your own kin. My pleas were not listened to, as he struck me. I drew my sword, laying it down before him and was thus unarmed, I asked if I could leave, peacefully, my weapon laid before him as I stood. He refused. A group of these men came down into the hall, drawing blades upon me, one man under a white flag as I had stated before. They called me scum, a filthy Orenian and said they did not answer to you. Yet, I had shown my good will, my intent for peace as we both had intended, yet again, they did not listen. The Dwarves who bore green marks dragged me before their pit of combat, thrusting sword into my hand and there I was felled, having already been weakened by blows delivered by their so-called “Clan Leader”. Once more, they dragged me out of the pit, making a mockery of me despite my attempts at a singular day of peace. I pleaded again, “Lord Ireheart, this day is a day of peace, signed by your own Grand King, would you dare to go against his wish?” His response was that the hall was his, his command was his own. These are your own supporters, the folk YOU call to war? If not for the ex-Grand King Levian’Tol as well as a number of council members, I fear my life would have been forfeit. My tongue was cut from my mouth. It is for that reason I write to you rather than speak to you face to face. For I can no longer speak, that most precious means of communication was taken from me, the Ireheart’s cauterizing my tongue to ensure it could not be reattached. Yet, somehow, that is not where it ended. They dragged me from the gates of your city, dragged me, they did not allow me to ride the steed which I had accompanied Ragrin upon as an escort.. and when I arrived at the tavern of our original agreement, to celebrate this holiday together, they threw me upon the ground, my nose and wrist broken, my tongue cut from my mouth and the flesh ripped from my knees. They grasped me by my scalp, by my hair and held me before the place that we had both agreed peace was to be upon, eventually thrusting me to the ground when the most honourable Ferrymen stated they would not stand with them. My respect is eternal.. and I believe it will never fade, regardless of what the outcome is on the battlefield. You spoke to me not like a King, that day, but as a soldier, acknowledging that the war would not be a pleasant one. Ulfric Frostbread, Grand King of Urguan. I believe I hold more respect for you than the men who have sworn to defend your word and honour, as was evident when those who fall under your Kingdom dishonoured your own pact today, disavowing your own word and proving that they can not hold to oaths you had signed with your own name. Please, Ulfric, punish them for their transgressions, for I was there on your promise. If not for the promise you made of peace, I would not have been there at all." Sincerely, Lord Ivan var Ruthern Spoiler @Elite_Snipes_ @cappor @kindEmperor @Orlanth @Cataleann @Willstertheking2 @UnusualBrit Thanks for the good RP folks, o7 was a pleasure
MailC3p 2412 Share Posted December 18, 2021 Baron Arthur looked over the missive in his bed after his wife fell asleep after passing presents for Tuvmas, he sighed as he read the title, he looked over at the ireheart banner hanging on his wall that he got from a small skirmish "dwarves dwarves dwarves, seems like they cannot swoop so low to seek violence for even one saints day"
Da_Emperors 1987 Share Posted December 18, 2021 The Prince of Providence would move a pawn forward to his Uncle Ivan var Ruthern. He would know the tragic nature of what the Ireheart’s conducted. He continued to play the game with his Uncle as his thoughts would rest to himself – “You broke a truce – you are oathbreakers – you have sinned against all that is proper – and the action shall be repaid – Yet, I must wish the Grand King see reason, if my Uncle Ivan can respect the man so shall I.” The Youth moved his Knight forward to pressure his Uncle’s own. He smiled lightly as they continued the game of Chess. The Bond between them grew as words were not spoken.

Taketheshot 3834 Share Posted December 18, 2021 The Lord Privy Seal read over the missive with a long sigh as he looked up, watching Haeseni, Dwed and Ferrymen alike run about the streets of Providence to play in the snow. "Trusting their words... we were foolish, to expect them to keep their honour... such was a mistake on our part."
Eryane 3698 Share Posted December 18, 2021 ”My brother is one of the most honorable men, one who always upholds his word, and they cut his tongue out, torturing him, in a time for peace,” recalled the Empress Anastasya regarding the day’s chaotic occurrences, after the somewhat peaceful event she had attended.“Even more so, he treated their Grand King - when we held him captive - with more respect and honor unlike any other I have seen. And they wouldn’t dare bother return him the favor, in the least bit.” Thereafter, she found a Lorraine cross to clutch on to and pray for her brother’s swift recovery. Elite Snipes 3563 Share Posted December 18, 2021 Bakir Ireheart wondered if Ivan even considered that he is lucky to still be alike. The Clan lord would prepare an Ireheart funeral for his fallen brother, his life taken by the orenians who call themselves honorable. He would turn to his kin "We shall be making preparations for a proper funeral, for our brothers and for our kin. But let this be a reminder to not only each other but to other dwarves. These orenians do not care for our wellbeing, they do not care of our honor, of the bond and blood we share. They even are outcasted by their own seer that speaks to their god! We will avenge Darir, we will avenge Ulfric and we will have glory in the fight to come!" Bakir raised his axe in the air alongside others in the room. He then continued his preparations to honor the dwed who have been wronged by the people of Oren

MapleSunflower 1889 Share Posted December 18, 2021 Primrose Gendik-Komnenos sat at the desk that was lit by candlelight, the fountain pen trembling in her hands as she herself started to write a letter. A light snoring could be heard behind her: her husband asleep. In the dead of the night, she wrote. To his Majesty, the Grand King of Urguan, We have not met in person from my knowledge, but I am a medic who works to treat all who are injured: no matter what side they are from. I am also a Baroness of Trabezon, land at Lubba's Keep that was granted to my husband and I through our friend Mika. Due to the truce of Tuvmas spirit, a friend and I decided to browse the shops for anything I could give my loved ones for Tuvmas. Seeing as the main shops were sold out of everything, we ventured further to seek out smaller businesses. We stumbled upon Ragrin Ireheart and Ivan var Ruthern sitting in the Ireheart clan hall - I had just seen them both in Providence shortly before. Ragrin and my friend seemed to be good friends, to which Ragrin informed us of his concerns related to a harmed child, to which all 3 of us let him know we were there to help him. It was only moment later when Bakir, the Ireheart clan leader, entered the hall and roared insults to us all. We tried to talk him down, but he threw the first punch to Ivan. We all stood in shock - the truce was broken. Blood was shed. No matter how hard we tried to explain we wanted to help, he refused, punching Ivan in the gut. Ferrymen and other dwarves arrived to the hall. I was urged to leave, but the last thing I could see was that Ivan, who was still bleeding and didn't raise a single finger against the Clan Leader, laid his sword in front of him to show true peace. I was allowed to leave, though no one there knows of my status nor that I am a medic except the 3 men from the original conversation. Later in the saint-day, Ivan was delivered to a truce Tuvmas celebration where ferrymen, dwarves, haenseni, and orenians alike gathered to have drinks in peace in the neutrality zone. However, Bakir arrived with Ivan, who had cut his tongue out. Thankfully, the other captured person - my friend - iced the tongue and after much delay, I was able to do surgery to reattach the tongue. However, Ivan may never be able to speak as well as he used to. I wish no disrespect on you, your majesty, but I am disappointed in the Ireheart clan leader for the tragedy that occured today. He tried to lie in front of all the attendees by claiming the Orenians had raided them, but the original 4 people stood there and knew that was a lie. Please right the wrongs done. There is shame upon the Ireheart name, and I wish it were not so. Have a merry Dwedsmas, your Majesty Sincerely, Primrose Gendik-Komnenos, Baroness of Trabezon

Cjmate 1270 Share Posted December 18, 2021 As news of the event spread, Kristofer Vuiller sighed and shrugged, "They're Irehearts. They're the lowest of the Dwarves. sergisala 3451 Share Posted December 18, 2021 Sir Charles Galbraith frowned after hearing the news: "I guess that these barbaric coalitioners do not even know what a truce is. To break such a truce when we celebrate our holidays is without a doubt one of the greatest sins that I have ever seen in my lifetime. Barbarians is what these dwarves really are!" "If His Majesty the King of Haense is truly the Fidei Defensor of ALL Canonists he should immediately condemn this Ireheart attack and break his unholy alliance with the dwarves, who are certainly behind this atrocity! God, forgive them, because they do not know what they are doing." The man shrugged, disgusted of the attitude of Oren's enemies during the war.
