[!] The Franciscian Order rallies to defend the Canon faith.

The question of a nation’s survival and the defense of its homeland must be answered by its ability to protect itself. That ability is resonant in its people. Countless tales enumerate the brave Hyspians of yore who have laid down their lives in defense of their culture. The Fransician Order is a product of that historical passion for the Hyspian cause. That passion shall be honed and refined to preserve and protect the Hyspian Crown, her people, and the Canon Faith.

After many years of reliance on the Crown of Haenseti-Ruska for the protection of her people, it has now become imperative for Hyspia to take up her own arms once again. Therefore, it is by decree of the Viceroyal Crown to introduce a reformation and reorganization of the armed forces into an unyielding structure; to be used as a model for the rest of Hyspia’s continued existence.

[!] A Franciscian knight being sent on a quest.

The order relies on three tenets of faith and loyalty to demonstrate exemplary comradery amongst its members. All members must abide by the three core tenets.

“Love thy Faith and thy Nation.

An insult to a Hyspian is an insult to all.

Follow thy Oath and never stray afar.”

The duties of a soldier of the Crown are numerous. The main duties affirmed are to protect the people, bring honor to the Crown, and to achieve personal glory on and off the battlefield. Soldiers are expected to act in a manner that reflects the Order’s moral code, whilst never violating the basic moralities that a soldier may hold. Every man and woman that serves in the military is expected to keep a strong ethical code and follow orders only when they are morally sound.

With martial prestige as a soldier comes martial responsibility. The regiment requires its soldiers to participate in intense training to ensure only the most disciplined and skilled are representing the nation. Every soldier is trained to follow orders in combat and any violation of this could result in loss of pay, or even loss of rank depending on the severity of the situation. Actions such as supporting an enemy of Hyspia, or an enemy of Canonism as a whole will result in an immediate court martial, loss of pay and rank, possible blacklist from the Regiment, or even execution if found guilty.

Oaths and Traditions

To be oathed is a centuries old tradition in which each member is tested upon their personal becoming.

To truly be an asset and of sound prestige within the Order, each recruited member must face a fully grown bull in the ring. In the event however that they have proven themselves through heroism or displayed their steadfast loyalty in the  protection of Hyspia, they may be exempted.

Once an initiated soldado has taken on the bull they are then moved on to the duel.

Only the upper ranks of the Order may conduct the oath. With this in mind the initiate in testing will be expected to duel an upper ranking member of the Order.

To win or lose is less valuable than the true purpose of this test: to see where the skill sets of the recruit lies.

A true testing and show of strength however may lead to a quicker promotion. It is at the will of the Viceroy or the Colonel to decide such.

The Oath

“I, _____, do solemny swear to uphold the honor, integrity, and stability of the Hyspian Crown. I shall uphold the Laws of Hyspia, uphold the three main tenets, perform my duties to the best of my ability, and I shall protect the Viceroyal Family and all Citizens of Hyspia.”

Trials of Chivalry

To become a credible knight in the Order, one must embark on a set of trials that will shape and carve them into the most perfect, trustable, form of intelligent-warrior-philosopher. These trials are meant to test every aspect and facet of the knight in question, but the Order is also under the belief that every knight should have a choice in what they see most important to their upbringings - decision making is a key trait in such a figure after all. That is why the trials will be based off of a points system with only one required trial that everyone has to complete. The text below categorizes Trials as well as puts a value to their worth; each trial may only be completed once, and each squire has to complete at least 1 trial from each category before doing a second one from another. In order to qualify for the final trial, one must accumulate 10 points worth of trials. Of course if a squire thinks of another adequate form of trial that will gain them points, that is fine. It first must be passed by their knight as a trial worthy of praise and showing off their trained attributes.

Trials of Piety

A knight must show devoutness to the church of cannonism, and a healthy one too. Above everything is the crown and nation of Hyspia - religion takes a close second. Don’t be mistaken though. A knight without spirituality is no knight at all.

Trial types

Fell an unholy creature in the name of Hyspia’s church and provide proof of kill (2pts)

Embark on a holy pilgrimage in which they gain blessings of all the cannonist nations - bring proof of blessings back to the crown. (3pts)

Provide a substantial donation to the church and get a document that proves their pilgrimage.

Trials of Diplomacy

Any knight of the order must be skilled in communications with Hyspia, and other allied - sometimes not allied - nations. This trial will depend upon multiple factors since it really depends on what the other nations need during that moment. This trial will likely count for 2 points required for the final trial.

Trial types

Attend a diplomatic meeting between the crown and another nation as an ambassador - contribute to whatever this might be in a meaningful way. (1pt)

Fulfill the needs of another nation after seeking out a person in power and obtaining a quest and bring back a note from said nation’s leader/person in power that proves their aide.  (2pts)

Fulfill the needs of another nation based on a task given by the crown and bring back a note from said nation’s leader/person in power that proves their aide. (1pt)

Attend a diplomatic meeting between the crown and another nation as an ambassador - contribute to whatever this might be in a meaningful way. (1pt)

Trials of Honorable Combat

As a knight, not only should they be filled with a vast wealth of knowledge - having an in-depth knowing of the Hyspian Culture and some of the other nations surrounding it - gaining a unique philosophy that is aligned with Hyspia’s most prosperous future - showing care for their spiritual health, which means having a healthy relationship with Canonism. It is any squire’s duty to prove their body and combative prowess is up to par with the rest of their attributes. It should come easy to them; very easy. By this point of their training, if their knight and military experience has done all it was meant to, they should be more than capable of fighting honorably and righteously for the crown.

Trial Types

Gain Heroic merit from the crown itself for an experience of combat directly from the field (3pts)

Fell an enemy of the state through a duel (2pts)

Fell a creature that is a threat to descendants [this and the unholy creature felling trial do not go together. They must be done separately](2pts)

Trials of Culture

Hyspia above all else is a knight’s most sacred and devout duty. In order to truly become capable of serving this nation, one first must prove their knowledge of its vast history.

Trial Types

Undergo a testing from their assigned knight on the Hyspian culture (2pts)

Host a cultural event for the nation of Hyspia to enjoy. The event must tie into Hyspian history (3pts)

Trial of Fealty

(The last trial one must complete after accumulating a total of 10pts.)

In order to prove one's complete and absolute undying loyalty to the crown, a knight must complete a task given directly by the crown - this task can be anything the crown deems worthy, but above all, it must be a daunting and truly trying test of everything that knight has worked toward.

The Ceremony

Upon the completion of their trial, the squire shall go through a pious ceremony to be officially ordained within the Order. The ceremony shall be held within El Palacio de Girasol and shall be hosted by the Viceroy.
All squires who adhere to the Canonist faith or who wish to convert to Canonist must also go through an orthodox baptism, to cleanse their previous sins and to further purify themselves before GOD.

Releasement of Position, and Traitorous Actions

Honorable Discharge

If one was to suddenly become incapable of serving the Order, or had been deemed incapable of doing so, the Crown has access to managing the status of their duties and title. An honorable discharge implies one’s title will stay and keep the weight for how much they have done, while relieving the said person in question of their duties. Some possible reasons for an honorable discharge might look as follows: Aging out of service, catastrophic injury from heroic combat in the name of the crown, those the crown deems worthy, any knight rank. Being granted an Honorable Discharge allows a knight to keep their title as Ser.

General Discharge

An Under-Honorable Discharge is a category that acts as a way for a soldier to ‘unenlist’ from service without facing any consequences or punishment. Another reason this type of discharge is used, is for someone that is deemed as inactive or not of enough service to the crown. In order to qualify for an under-honorable discharge, they have to have served at least 5 years of service - any rank qualifies for this. Once they are Under-Honorably discharged, they lose all titles but face no punishment. Being granted a General Discharge does not allow a knight to keep their title as Ser.

Dishonorable Discharge

One who has fallen victim to a dishonorable discharge has sullied or betrayed the crown from a very mild, to a very large degree. Any titles they have at that moment will be stripped from them and likely will face a small fine, punishment, or even execution. Such consequences shall be in respect to their culpability and guilt. Some punishable deeds for a dishonorable discharge are Murder, Fraud, Desertion on field or to the crown, or treason. Being given a Dishonorable Discharge does not allow a knight to keep their title as Ser.
