"Kathryn, let us ensure our schedules are clear," John Casimir said, conversing with his wife during a respite from their shared duties. "We shall mourn not merely the passing of a king, but a good man." @MapleSunflower

As the days wore on since the late King's passing, the Lady Palatine seemed to dread that ceremony--the day that would see Marius to his final resting place. For that would mean her nephews and nieces were truly orphaned, a fate she would not wish upon even her worst enemy.

Ever still, she persisted in her work. She could find rest when she was dead.

The official royal letter was carried far by an emissary of Haense and eventually the young attendant reached the distant dunes of the Orcish Peoples. This was his first major assignment he had been given and he was eager to please the new Haensetian king if possible, after all, it might just net him more Krawns. In the heat of the dunes, humans had to wear lighter clothes and shawls to hide their pale skin from the harrowing effects of the midday sun. What the attendant hated the most about this particular trip he was consigned to was that the weather itself could not make up its mind. During the day the heat was overbearing and during the night it was almost as cold as the Northern winds.

At last, he reached The Annex within Lurakahn after many days travel and presented the letter to the eager Khan of the Steppes. The blue orc sat atop the Seat of Daahd, his beefy legs spread wide as his darkly-colored armor and the black bear pelt around his shoulders leered down at the human from far away. In the days of Daahd'Lur, the castle's banners had been red and black, but with the ascension of the former Dom Targoth, it had been swapped to blue. Even the candles were blue! What was this absurd fixation?

However, the attendant knew better than to vex the Lord of the Orcs himself. If Wood Elves were savages, the Haensetian conceived that agitating a thick-skinned desert-dwelling goliath was the last thing to cross his mind.

"Yes Umie," spoke the Orcish Rex. "I shall see the Prince become King, the Spirits are appeased by your honor in carrying this message. The great Rhak'Dom shall pay homage to the Men of the North on his Pinkielands tour."

The attendant was surprised to find he was given ample food and broth in return for the message as well as a hefty tip. In the Annex, many Goblins peddled their wares to unsuspecting foreigners, while a small skeleton crew of Uruks lined the walls, awaiting the forever war that would never come. Was this the city of Lurakahn?

The human shrugged his shoulders and accepted the hospitality gladly. After all, a man back home could rarely say he'd been spotted at the edge of the world. Much less could a man say he survived being in the presence of the Gortslayer himself.
