  1. Doing forum things, getting ready for a huge festival at Krugmar this weekend, having a great time...

  2. [!] A large poster of parchment would be found plastered upon various noticeboards around Almaris. TO CELEBRATE A NEW AGE FOR KRUGMAR Sons, Daughters, and allies of Krug may all rejoice this day! With news of good tidings being spread across all of Almaris, Krugmar would like to announce it's own cause for celebration: A proclamation of the great hunter and goblin Yarrow'Lur as the new Rex of our great city. With this wonderful news in mind, the Rexdom welcomes all the various peoples of Almaris to join in our festivities and watch the beginning of a new era for those of Krug. We will feast, we will klomp, we will drink, we will smoke, and we will honor this new beginning with all who wish to attend! Planned Activities Include: Speeches in honor of our new Rex, As well as an opportunity to pledge Fealty. A fighting tournament, culminating in a Final Match for a cash prize of Dubty (X) Urukizh Teef, worth 100 mina in total. Feasting and Drinking at the Tavern, along with various pastimes like Cactus Green and Krugamine. A Drinking Competition, Worth the bragging rights of having your very name emblazoned on the Tavern Wall! A Chess board open to public use! Krugmar encourages betting upon matches. ...And even more! To all the nations, settlements, and towns of Almaris, as well as their fine leaders: We invite you to Krugmar so that you might pay honorable respects to our new leader as equals, or with the Spirits blessings pledge fealty to our great Rexdom. The sons and daughters of Krug would welcome such fortunate proceedings with open arms. No matter what troubles or grudges our peoples may hold, this will be a time of jubilance and respite from the tensions of politics or conflict... Dare we say it might be an offer of that 'peace' you all hold so dearly, brief as it may be. A gift of compassion and celebration from the descendants of Krug. To all those lost brethren who find themselves with the accursed status of whitewash: We will also extend this generous blessing to you. During this time, and this time only, any who wish may discuss with our new Rex the reason behind their status, and if deemed honorable may begin the process of returning to the ways of Krug kind with the ancestors' blessings. For those who were raised without knowledge of the Orcish ways, we implore that you return to us and finally begin learning of your true heritage, to once more follow the honored path of Krug and his blood. This event will take place from the 18th to the 22nd day of the next Sun's Smile! [OOC INFO: The event is scheduled from 6PM - 10 PM EST, on Sunday May 2nd of 2021]
  3. [!] A large poster would be plastered on the the tax office and notice boards of Krugmar, thick crimson letters scrawled across it's surface. Each Class is meant to represent who can own such house and its size: Class C - It is a tiny-sized house, fit for a single person with a small storage space, it can be owned only by the slaves of Krugmar, and has no associated price. Class D - An extremely small but yet comfy dwelling deep in the caves of Krugmar, made to fit one single person. It can be owned not just by any citizen of Krugmar, but any ally or tributary with express permission by the Yazgurtan. Cave Housing can be purchased for Gakh (III) Teef, with a cactus week rent of Azh (I) Teef. [!] The text returns to Kor'garr'Lurs' handwriting for a single paragraph. Class B - A small-sized house, fit for one or two under modest circumstances with a decent storage space, it can be owned by any citizen of Krugmar, or any ally or tributary with express permission not only from the Yazgurtan, but the Rex them self. Class B housing is available for H'gakh (VIII) Teef, with a cactus week rent of Dub (II) Teef. Class A - The designation for a medium-sized house fit for a small family, with a wealth of storage space and possibly a decent sized extra level, it can be owned by any citizen of Krugmar. While by far a superior upgrade to the earlier classes of housing, Class A blargs can be purchased for Dubty (X) Teef, and have an upkeep of Futh (IV) Teef. Class S - A purely expansive home fit for a large family to live in, this class of housing boasts an extra level and a huge amount of storage space, complete with multiple bedrooms and pre installed furnishings. It can be owned by any citizen of Krugmar, though it is recommended to purchase such a home with multiple residents. This luxury only has 6 total slots, each available for Dubty'agh'H (XV) Teef with a tax of H'dub (VII) Teef. Taxes are due each year or Cactus week by the month of Sun's Smile, or the end of the Cactus Sunday. Kor'garr wihl peep iv lat triez tu zkip latz duez wit Blah, ohr eny vanzi trikz. Turning a house into a complete storage deposit is not allowed, doing so will result in the house owner’s being warned for their first offense. If the situation is not resolved by the following Tax Day, then the House will be up for eviction. Basements may not be made underneath any house, nor any upgrades that would alter the default size, theme, or exterior shape of the house. If you are looking to modify the outside cosmetic appearance of your home, please consult the Yazgurtan before making any changes or risk eviction. Interior remodeling is, of course, acceptable within reason.
  4. Ooooh, That is a very, very difficult question. I am a huge fan of both Fantasy and Sci-Fi, so I have a lot of options! I guess my favorite would not just be a single book, but the start of a trilogy, with The Paradise War by Stephen R. Lawhead. It is a wonderfully crafted start to an epic involving two graduate students, time travel, Celtic myth, and some of the best character development I have ever had the pleasure to read! The Song of Albion trilogy as a whole is amazing, but this first book holds a special place in my heart with how real the main characters' reactions are to the fantastic events they find themselves involved in. Think about how it would be if you were dumped into the Celtic version of fantasy Camelot. If you prefer Sci-Fi, though, my first reaction would be to toss you a lovely little book called Phule's Company, by Robert Asprin (Coincidentally the author of the Myth series). A lovely comedic romp about the era of widespread galactic governments and the bumbling space military/police corps needed to manage them, complete with a Tony Stark-esqe riot of a main protagonist in the recently-"promoted" Captain Jester... And of course, the Phule series has 5 more books after that, each as hilarious as the first. Thanks for asking about it! Huh, haven't heard either of these before! I really like the Drum and Bass background audio in Think abt it, though I do feel like the lyrics were a bit muddy. It's a very chill piece though, despite it not being from a genre I listen to often! Full Blown Meltdown was great, very much reminding me of bands like Rage Against the Machine or Cage the Elephant with the frantic anger! I enjoy a lot of Alt rock, Punk, and the heavier music genres, so I might have to look into PUP sometime! Thanks for recommending these to me!
  5. Kor'Garr eventually comes across the flyer upon the nearby roads... despite intending to travel towards Urguan. His expression shifts into a blank, stone-like grimace as he glances over the poster, the grey orc resembling some taciturn gargoyle. Eventually he gives a weary sigh, head shaking as he lets the paper fall to be carried away by the wind once more. "Nub evin azh chanz tu lurn dah weyz uv Krug." Muted footfalls resound from the dirt path as Kor'garr'Lur departs from his path towards Providence, shears and pickaxe upon his hip.
  6. Kor'garr'Lur peers at the missive, his crimson eyes focusing intently on the paper under a furrowed brow. A grey hand slams the paper down upon the bench beside Krugmar's forge, revealing the soot-stained Orc's wide grin stretching between his thick tusks. "Krug'z ben invited, agh diz peepz lyke ah chanz uv Wagh zoon... Kor'garr kannub pozziblee mizz owt ohn diz!" He pauses for a moment before raising a dirtied fist up to the chin of his heavy underbite in contemplation. "Kor'garr wundurz iv dey wihl wunt eny wehpunz..."
  7. I really like the idea of Events for new players as a way to bring them into the community with a great first impression, and wholeheartedly support it! One minor worry I do have is the "then what?" bit. After that first event, how can we keep new players interested with dynamic roleplay and avoid their next 2 weeks being SOL/campfire RP? Going one step further, how do we prevent that new player event from feeling like a bait and switch to draw them into being a resource battery? I would really like to see more local events that give characters, both veteran and new, a reason to step out of the city plaza and interact with the beautiful world that is Almaris... Of course, there is one massive issue with that. Dynamic roleplay requires movement and change, things that are very much stifled by the focus on activity ratings for capital tiles. Why would nation leaders send guards out to patrol the surrounding lands and find neat events if that means those players are not passively AFKing in the region that decides whether the whole settlement exists or not? Why would a worker explore the breathtaking world around their city when their NL would just see that as wasting time and point them right back to the local mine? Everyone here wants more dynamic roleplay and more events, but without removing the shackles to our nation tiles I fear even the highest quality events out around Almaris would go ignored, and so the wonderful first impression proposed in the OP would be replaced with the bitter monotony of grinding. TL;DR. Keeping new players requires dynamic RP, dynamic RP requires a change in how we view player activity, please make it enjoyable and encouraged to not huddle around the nearest campfire.
  8. Hey there everyone! I've been on the server for around a month now, and wanted to start an AMA as a neat way of reaching out. I have passions for music, anime, D&D/RP in general, Sci-fi, and tons of other neat stuff, so feel free to send a question my way! You can also OOCly ask about Kor'garr if you want!
  9. Having a great time as Yazgurtan of Krugmar, getting ready to roll out some new projects!

  10. Hmm... maybe they could be given choices relating to their application? A bit more work, or just having portals for all the major settlements. So. Much. Yes. I would very much like the quest idea to be expanded, maybe even with some basic RP items? Could just be some custom food or a cultural item, but that might be a nice way to introduce custom items to new players. I know I struggled (still do) with obtaining decent RP items and understanding how to edit/create my own. Overall, I feel a quest guide/info book in game would be a great help for new players with understanding the more confusing elements of our server.
  11. As a new player myself, I am very happy to see these opportunities for change being taken! I was very lucky to receive immediate attention from a faction leader my first day on the server, but a lot of things lined up just right to quickly bring me into the Krugmar community. I understand many other players may not have it so lucky when starting out. Some worries I do have fall upon whether the player's choice of portal will align with their original character application, or if there is more flexibility in the system. For example, What if Kor'garr the orc accidentally entered the Urguan portal? Another is the already mentioned concern of promoting more stagnancy in the server-wide politics, though it could be argued the direction of newer players to very well entrenched communities is in itself a bonus... I simply hope this will not have a detrimental effect on smaller communities attempting to grow. Finally, for cities with sprawling road to arrive from the waypoint a la Elvenesse... Maybe there can be more directional signs made, and a "chain" of compass points instead of just showing a straight line to the city? More to code, I know, but I don't want any new players to quit because a compass sent them halfway up random mountain 74-B. Either way, Great work! I look forward to seeing this implemented!
  12. Kor'garr strides to the forge, a grim smile stretching between his tusks as he lifts an armful of raw ferrum. "Kor'garr iz gunnah vlat dem awl iv' datz dah wey dey wunt'z et." The forge is stoked to a roaring heat, sweat dripping from the metal-worker's brow as he begins to craft instruments of war for his brethren with a cold gleam in his crimson gaze.
  13. A La 5E D&D, I see mechanics as useful ways to streamline the process of RP storytelling. While CRP is great and all, having two dozen people spamming emotes in #s would become a confusing mess, and this is where we can use Block Game to provide a more enjoyable experience and method of progressing the roleplay. With that said: I for one would like those mechanics to be as well thought out and balanced as possible, so that using Block Game to help with RP is not only possible, but enjoyable!
  14. Kor'garr holds the crumpled piece of parchment in a steady grip, his crimson gaze staring unflinchingly at the message of feasting and celebration. A thin smile stretches all-to-tight between his tusks before the grey orc gives a resolved nod. "Grog, klompz, agh zhiniez. Yub, dat'z wut dah Rex wuld wuntz." A small blotch on the bottom of the missive rests distorted from moisture; a single droplet of liquid had fallen down from the grey ork's chin.
  15. This sounds great! ...When do we start?
  16. Why are we all freaking out about this? Just download more ram, SMH.
  17. First of all, thank you! Ohhh dear. I have no clue what to put for a favorite song, so I will just go ahead and list a couple. "Rime of the Ancient Mariner" from Iron Maiden's Powerslave album is an excellent take on the original piece in a heavy, powerful metal spin. If you are more of an electro/alt fan, Robert Delong's album In the Cards has a great variety of meaningful songs, and his lyrics are very thoughtful. Going from alt to just plain weird with the electropop genre you can try out AJR, with The Click being my personal preference compared to their newer stuff... On the other hand, dark and heavy Cellos-plugged-into-Electric-guitar-amp goodness is all over Apocalyptica's Shadowmaker... I could go on and on if you have any genres to ask about, honestly. In terms of instruments, I have played the Cello for 13 years, done marching band with both drumline (Marching percussion) and front ensemble (Xylophones, synths, etc;), and fiddled about with Guitar for about 7 years. I also enjoy messing around with piano, though I dont have actual training with it!
  18. Kor'garr would nod thoughtfully in response to the elegantly flowing stanzas, his crimson eyes gazing into the empty air. "Hmm... Kor'garr tinkz it zoundz 'hozh..." The orc glances down with a shrug, before tapping beautifully inscribed pages with the fingers of his good hand. "Butz wut'z it blahh'zin? Kor'garr kannubz reed diz."
  19. Kor'garr would smile softly at the news, re-wrapping the cloth bandages around his left arm. "Yub... Kor'garr grukz iz 'hozh tu 'az peece wit da twiggiez lyke Zoluz agh Miz... Agh at leezt dah tribyootz frum nub'hozh twiggiez." The Grey orc would then give a soft chuckle as he steps back into Krugmar's forge.
  20. Hello! Just wanted to drop a quick note introducing myself! As stated above, I am myself, a new member to the server and forums. My first persona is that of Kor'garr, who you have probably seen getting terribly lost somewhere around Krugmar, Elvenesse, or Talon's Port. If you all have suggestions on where I should take a look for tips of any kind, have invites to places, or just want to drop a quick note saying hello, I would be happy to hear it! In the meantime, a little more about myself. First, 21 Years old. I'm an avid music lover and musician, I have multiple amazing dogs, and I enjoy curling up with a good sci-fi or fantasy novel on slower days. Oh, and Rum. Rum's good too. Glad to be here interacting with everyone, This has already become the best Minecraft community I have had the pleasure to enjoy so far!
  21. Kor'garr would drag his finder over the finely written script, muttering to himself in attempts to better understand the advertisement. "Hmm... Traydez... Zelling tingz... Kor'garr kan gitz moar teef fur grogz and grubz... Oh! Meybe da grubzomanzah kuld taek 'iz famuz ztewz!" The orc rushes off to tell the Grubgoth of a new opportunity.
  22. Kor'garr squints at the paper, his heavy brows furrowing while he struggles to perfeive the message. "Kliff jumpin' iz loike uh 'hozh toime, 'avent dun that in 'eers... Grog-werkin... Oi, Wroightin wit free grog? Zoundz loike Kor'garr shud tayke uh tripp!" The grey skinned ork looks around for the nearest map, to find the location of Talon's Port.

Kor'garr was not unused to the realities of a nomadic orc tribe as a kub. His father, Dreck'garr, had been crippled from a klomp in his own kub years, but continued his mettulwerk for the tribe despite the lack of limb, and his momo tanned hides for the tribe whenever she wasn't wrangling him or one of his several bruddahs. Meanwhile he got all the food he could, and a little more, through struggling in the dirt with the other kubs until everyone in the pile was black and blue all over and the grub was gone. And of course, as was properly orky, he used his bare hands! None of that ztik rubbish. If that meant he passed on sharpening the zults every now and again to grab an "extra" snack from one of the others, or toned out the horned elders prattling over "soon to return glory days" of the Iron Ugz? Well, that was life, and life would continue the way it had for the tribe ever since their ancestors left the city of Gund'kothz; travelling, hunting, raiding, and klomping. At least, until Kor'garr's 22nd year. "Bloddy git, i'z nevah needid tah graab a'h zoggin zult fer i'z klomps... zoggin zult, zoggin' bruddah, zoggin feorc..." His elder brother Zalor'garr needed one of those same blades for yet another Honor Klomp, this time over a feorc for the season. Seasons of careless maintenance, a moment of absentmindedly grabbing the nearest blade... Kor'garr watched as one blade shattered, and the other, polished to a keen edge, swept down until it struck the red-stained earth. There was no honor in such an end for Zalor'garr. A faulty blade, just as broken and jagged as the feelings of shame piercing Kor'garr through, is no warriors death. Fevered dreams in the night, scornful glances over grub... Kor'garr understood. both the spirits and his clan laid such a dishonorable showing at his feet. Only three years later, a chance for him to regain his honor came with the smouldering tide of inferni. The most grand of last stands, a way to redeem him self! ...one that turned to naught but ash when Dreck'garr sacrificed himself, blocking an otherwise fatal blow during the fierce battle Kor'garr survived. Twice now, the death of a clanmember would weigh upon his frame. A voyage over the seas, one without words. the grey Ork found himself on unfamiliar shores, newly discovered lands known as "All-Maw-Riss", stepping away from the gangplank of a rather unscrupulous cargo vessel, Kor'garr found himself without direction. One more fitful night of rest amongst the supply crates led him to a conclusion. The spirits did not welcome him around a clan. On his own request, the shameful uruk was declared whitewashed, and left to discover himself in the dead of night. Many seasons passed. Kor'garr's frame withered, food never so abundant as those days with the clan. Yet he endured. Shores turned to heated dunes, sea mist to biting grains of sand. Yet he endured. Desert turned to mountains, clear moonlit skies to clouded snowfall. Yet he endured. Peaks ran down to valleys, frostbitten forests to sweltering jungle. Yet he endured. Crowded campfires and Honer feasts became a distant memory amongst fitful rests and the challenge of fending himself from 'owlur and nubded alike. Yet still, he endured. Only then did Kor'garr, after gal'rut (ten and six) of isolation, hear whispers in his sleep of a far off "Rexdom o' Krugmar" announcing possible forgiveness to the whitewashed. Only then did Kor'garr, zagal agh dub (forty two) years of age, imagine in his dreaming mind's eye the silhouette of an unbreakable zult, one that would be worthy of blessings from Gentharuz himself. His speech had grown stagnant and stilted, a once passionate face weathered and stoic, and his formerly formidible height halted at a mere 6'8. How long, Kor'garr wondered to himself after he woke, had he been without bruddahs to call "clan"? ...No longer, he decided. Hardened and cold like the precious ore he wishes to forge, Kor'garr will endure. No longer, however, will he tolerate enduring alone.
