The Company of the Wolf The Company of the Wolf is a company dedicated to providing efficient and capable work for their employers. From the simple merchanting of goods to lending their swords, the Company of the Wolf are numerous and ruthlessly efficient. The Company of the Wolf completes contracts for various employers and the hierarchy is as follows: The Company of the Wolf is divided into two divisions, each with their own tasks and duties to fulfill. The Princeps The leader of the Company, the Princeps is the overall head of the company. The Princeps is involved in all matters of the company, and has an exceptional understanding of organization and management. The Princeps is to be addressed at all times either by Commander, Princeps, Tom, or simply Sir. The Legates The Legates are a group within the company that are capable of supervising and managing parts of the Company that may not be under their direct jurisdiction. This could mean drafting contracts, arranging trade deals, or providing Milites to a needful employer. They serve as a council of sorts, and advise each other on all matters of the Company. The current Legates are: Consul Deithwen Medicus Geralt Toov The Milites The Milites is the military division of the Company. They will carry out military operations such as patrolling, escorting, combat maneuvers and fulfill military contracts. The Milites has High Command, Low Command, and Enlisted ranks, and a strict hierarchy and a demand for subordination is set. HIGH COMMAND Princeps The head of the Milites, the Princeps is given the duty of managing all the military affairs of the Company. The Princeps is responsible for the overall efficiency of the Milites, and has several subordinates to help maintain the highest discipline and organization. Optio The Optio is an officer in the Company, and is responsible for many of the day-to-day tasks involved when maintaining a company. The Optio can set daily directives and has control of all the soldiers. The Optio is a perfect blend of a leader and a subordinate, knowing his place and following his orders quickly and efficiently. LOW COMMAND Castrorum The Castrorum is the quartermaster of the Company. He manages all forms of military equipment and is a skilled military engineer, capable of constructing a myriad of military structures. The Castrorum has a level head and an eye for organization, and will work closely with other logistical officers in order to ensure a truly efficient and well-supplied company. Aquilifer The Aquilifer is tasked with upholding the highest form of discipline within the soldiers of the Company. They are the prioritized man to issue all forms of disciplinary punishment, and can do so at their own choosing or from authorization from a rank Optio or higher. The Aquilifer is also required to keep the soldiers in peak condition and appearance, and permits them to schedule drills and uniform inspections whenever he sees fit. Signifer The Signifer is a junior officer within the Company. He is given the responsibility of being a Optio’s right hand man, and also now has the opportunity to command his first contingency of Company soldiers. The Signifer may be tasked with leading large-scale patrols, scouting territory, or leading outriders on the flanks of advancing Company forces. ENLISTED RANKS Triarus The Triarus are the heavy troops of the Company, and the backbone of the company’s forces. They form the main battle line and are the obedient and willing rank-and-file soldiers of the company. They have proven themselves of merit and understand the military concepts of subordination to superiors, and have a total respect for all forms of command. The Triarus may not openly criticize the commands given, but instead may request a private audience to voice their complaints. The Triarus are outfitted with bits of mail to add to their protection and “heavy” nature of the Triarus. Hastatus The Hastatus are the lighter troops of the Company, and are capable soldiers who are by now tried and tested combatants within the company. From here, they may receive advanced and more rigorous levels of training and will be expected to be in top conditions for any confrontation. The Hastatus also receives an upgraded set of mail to compliment their leather uniform. Tiro The Tiro are the newly enlisted men within the Company. They have yet to prove themselves of anything besides a general knowledge of sword-wielding. The Tiro will be heavily trained and instructed into the regimen of military life, and will be expected to be subordinate, willing to improve, and ready for the cooperation tests that come with joining the Company. Specialized Ranks Within the Milites Venator - The Venator is a specialized scout within the Company. Usually comprised of Hastati and led by Signifer, the Venatorii are mounted soldiers that are capable of scouting great distances and are expected to have a good knowledge of pathfinding to maintain a quick pace. Medicus - The Medicus is the surgeon of the Company. He is tasked both with ensuring a full supply of medical equipment and also keeping the soldiers alive during times of war and peace. Alternatively, the Medicus may also conduct training sessions to instruct the soldiers in simple combat medical techniques. Praetorian - The Praetorian is an elite warrior and a specialized bodyguard to the Princeps and other members of the Legates. The Consul will represent the Company and aid the Princeps when he is needed elsewhere. The Consul has a duty to ensure an awareness of diplomatic relations between other nations as well, to ensure the Company is kept well-learned of the political world of Athera. Censor The Censor is the scribe of the Consuls, and is responsible for most matters of organization and logistics. Capable of speaking for the Princeps as the Consul can, the Censor is better suited for record-keeping and has the primary duty of drafting contracts with employers, ensuring that the interests of the Company are considered. Lictor The Lictor is the messenger of the Company, and is tasked with sending dispatches to wherever they are needed. The Lictor works closely with the Milites, and are best known for their unquestioning attitude.
