  1. Rem screams into the sky as the brutal realization of the matter washes over her. Sinking down to her knees, and pressing her palms into the earth, she sobs heavy tears into the grass. Slamming her fists against the earth, she curses the creature that brought undue death to Lentos. Crafting for him another silver seed, Rem plants this one without a vigil. She utters no words as sun rises upon the city of Lin'sulan, only staring with a blank glare over the oceanic scene. Hurling upon herself a traveler's cloak, and fetching a pale horse, Rem rides off. "He will be the last friend I lose."
  2. Rem sits in her home on a puffy and soft chair; her form is curled into a tight ball, made larger by layers of soft blankets that surround her. Her ears droop, and her cheer shatters. The young elf pours tear after tear of innocent anguish into her hands until morn. Rem composes herself some three days later. Wee hours of dawn break, and in the ambient heat of a forge, she crafts a singular nugget of pure silver, rendered to look like a seed - a fresh start. Dragging her feet as she approaches the high hills of the sunlit Lin'sulan, Rem buries the silver seed. "Silver sunrise of radiant glow, please take my friend to Larihei, and with her purity in tow, start fresh anew a silver day."
  3. Hi! So, you've already applied - you don't need to make any more posts in the Whitelist Applications thread until your app is either denied or accepted, and if it's accepted, you should wait to be implemented! If your character is looking for a necromancy teacher, and you'd like to publicly post this knowledge, in role-play, for a necromancer or anyone else to see, you should post it here: https://www.lordofthecraft.net/forums/forum/8-roleplay/ Find the forum you want to post in, say, general role-play, and start a new topic. Now wait! Before you go ahead and start posting about necromancy or shade magic or whatever other fancy goal you've chosen for your character, I need to warn you about a few things. 1) This is not going to work out for you in the short term. As much as it pains me to say it, people are going to poke fun at you for publicly asking for anything magically related. It's become a running gag on LotC for a new player to show up and want magic, head to the forums, and post about it. 2) This is probably a bad way to start off for you! Magic can be complicated if you're just coming to LotC. There are rules about it that have to be adhered to, and not knowing these rules means you won't be able to pursue magic on your character until you grasp those concepts. In my opinion, the best way to start on LotC is to just keep it simple. Start with a simplistic, non-evil character, and go forward, enjoying LotC as a story-based platform. 3) You may grow annoyed with the server if you set large role-play goals and find that you cannot make them a reality as fast as you want. Unlike many other games, LotC does not start you off as a hero. You will start as another player, just like everyone else, and you will need to learn the ropes and how to play with others before you can start achieving goals. When you set very specific and long-term goals such as "I want to be a necromancer," or "I want to be an Ascended," you staunch your fun. Your role-play becomes only about achieving those goals, and you miss out on the development aspect of LotC's story. 4) You can have a lot more fun if you just develop a simplistic character that you enjoy playing as. Consider making a character that makes you laugh. LotC is supposed to be a fun experience, and you should enjoy crafting, playing, and developing a character with us. Continuing from here, there are several ways to approach LotC even if you still want to be a necromancer. Again, more lists! 1) Ask yourself why you want to play a necromancer! I'd take a stab in the dark and say it's because you want to play a gloomy, evil character with a lot of influence in the world, and you want to have a very powerful character. Having a powerful character is something that has to be worked towards. You should imagine your character as a level 1 villain; he's not going to start out very strong or well-known. It might even be better to say that he's a level 0 villain, as the only story you have for him is a very small backstory. 2) If you want to play a villain, start pettier. Honestly, some of the most satisfying role-play can come from the mundane. Pick a couple pockets with your character, overcharge someone on a product, or plan a smalltime heist. The story of LotC is a constantly evolving one, and you need to understand that your place is coming after four or five years of evolution. Introducing your character as a strong and well-developed necromancer will be odd. Where did this random necromancer come from? Who taught him? Suppose you still want to play a necromancer. Posting on the forums is the wrong way to start that path. Start by roleplaying a villain in a way that both you and other players can enjoy. Every day, understand that you may not be any further to your goal than the last day, but read above for why setting these goals is bad for your enjoyment of the game. Overall, you're new. That's something we don't tell a lot of new players, but it's the truth. You're new to our story, and you'll need to learn how to play it with us. We'd love to have you, but there's a learning curve. Don't be disheartened if you don't learn necromancy, you may miss all the other fun opportunities in this game if you're focused so deeply on making one type of story for your character. Best of luck on your application! Message me privately if you need any help with it. Topic moved to Off-Topic/OOC thread.
