  2. If supply and demand causes tool and gear prices to crash, then even if people ain't making as much money by selling said tools and gear, their purchasing power isn't affected too much since all the stuff they'd be buying is lower in price. This is already the case for the 99% of the server that do massive Vortex grind loops every day. This is only because the Ec*nomy team seems to think the best way to make an economy function is to tie their cruddy minas economy to the geopolitics of the server as a crutch to keep the value of minas artificially afloat. As we've seen so far in Almaris that hasn't really worked. People previously criticized the staff for making minas into a commodity and resource in and of itself rather than an actual currency used for exchange, and the changes done to minas in Almaris have only made that trend worse. The best solution is to realize that the staff enforced nation tax garbage and deflationary policies were stupid to begin with and remove all of them so that we'll get something resembling the old Atlas-Arcas economies, back when warfare and diplomacy decided whether your community lived or died more than numbers on spreadsheets and taxation income. Maybe we should just abolish minas entirely I kinda don't trust staff to manage a server currency anymore.
  3. Having the economy be worse doesn’t negatively impact most people, and in all honesty I’ve never seen an LOTC map with a “good” economy that didn’t suffer from some shortfalls like inflation/delflation or overproduction. Even with Nexus it got so bad once that the staff added admin buy shops to take iron and other goods out of the economy and raise prices.

  5. I change my go-to burrow style every few months lmao.

  6. Yo gamers I'm back at it. Here's my attempt at making a burrow that looks like it's from Ardacraft. You can see the sorta style I'm trying to replicate on this Shire tour: Anyways, onto the build Me trying to replicate some of the hobbit hole entrance stuff I saw on Ardacraft (I ended up deviating from their design a fair bit) Laying down the frame for the rest of the burrow! Starting to cover it up with dirt and figure out what the heck I'ma do for the exterior burrow facade. First cover of grass, raw and unrefined. This will be polished up a TON so no worries. Making good use of the top of the burrow! Far too many of my previous builds didn't put anything major on top of the burrow, and I'm mixing things up for this one. A little farm and a scarecrow ought to do well! Adding a tree! This is how I make trees by the way. I lay out the skeleton with wood and then place a bunch of leaves all around it (as well as mushrooms and some roots at the bottom and branches from fences etc etc etc) The finished exterior. Lookin' quite fancy indeed! Same view but from above. You can see the farm and path work I did for this burrow a lot better in this screenshot. The backside of the burrow. I love making tree roots so naturally there's tons of them everywhere. All of the flowers are hand placed as well, I only used bonemeal for some extra grass here and there. Let's take a look at the interior I've built for this burrow... This is the entrance room. It is also the dining room. I probably should've made this room one block longer in hindsight, since it was hard to get a good table setup that didn't impede movement too much. Regardless, this current design is functional. Notice the use of trapdoors on the ceiling to represent wooden beam supports. Not every bit of log in this burrow has ceiling supports attached to it, but a fair bit of it does. A small study complete with a window and bookshelf. From the image above, you turn to the left to get here and head through a single spruce door. This is the kitchen, to the right of the dining room through a spruce door yet again. I really love how this room turned out. For a small, 3x3 kitchen, it really has everything you'd want in a halfling cookery. There's mushrooms, storage (even some under the floor!), a crafting table, and a fancy looking extinguished campfire to represent a food rack. The fireplace connects with another part of the burrow as well, so it's double-sided. Straight ahead from the dining room is the burrow's main hallway. There are three bedrooms attached to this hallway, as well as some added storage and roleplay flair. The master bedroom, with a clock, storage, and armor stand to keep your clothes on while you're sleeping! Normal bedroom number one. Nothing special about this room. It's just two beds and two barrels under the table with leaves on it. I got a bit fancier with the second bedroom. I'm not sure what the mushroom on fence is supposed to represent, but I like it anyways. The table in this room has cake on it as well as storage beneath it. Looking back from the second bedroom towards the rest of the hallway. You can see how the hallway shifts over a block, how the dining room and hallway are connected, as well as more detail about the fireplace shared between the kitchen and hallway. At the far left of this screenshot you can also glimpse the wood storage, just in case you need to throw another log on during the winter. Heading back to the dining room, more detail is visible, as well as how the entrance has been modified to appear as though it is actually circular rather than just a rectangular door. This is something I stole straight from Ardacraft. So, what do you guys on the forums think of my burrow? How can I improve on this style?

ive actually left the server once or twice without even noticing

just less and less it became a part of my day and moreso just a "i'll get back to it" kind of thing. Of course that hasn't happened while I've been manager, but, notably during mid-arcas (before and during Lagpocalypse) I just didn't play for three or four months, and I only really realised that once those months had passed. I realised all I was doing was just Lore work for a team, and I didn't really think as to where that work was going.

Genuinely, I'd either be long-gone or just a no-name passerby on the server if I wasn't ST. I've done leadership, didn't like that, done slave-work as steward/marshal, was alright for a good while until I realised how snaky and careless some people can be when it comes to seperating OOC and IC, and the list goes on. I love lore work, I love working on events and lore for this server and providing to everyone on that front. I'm happy there, I'll stay there.

Though I'll admit I've made a good few friends on here, even close and best friends during my darkest hour. If the server explodes tomorrow, I know my (ungodly amount of) time spent here was well worth it.

u know who u r if ur my friend and reading this post ily xox bang my line on disc i care about u

I been having fun with Luciensburg and Haense, and with some of these new event-lines popping up. I also don't play too long hours, it's much more healthy. Obviously, who would stay in a place where they lack friends? We are social creatures for the most part.

  13. IRP Name: Filibert Applefoot IGN: jumperhand3 Age: 80-something Do you live in Bramblebury?: Yes Why do you want to be a librarian?: I like writing letters and I'd love to write poetry and stories on LOTC books as well. Anything to make our library a bit more interesting))
  14. No, there's no problem having new halflings get integrated in with Bramblebury, I was just worried that this integration plugin would be nation-only and thus not accessible to halflings.
  15. I do agree that telling new players to start grinding Vortex probably isn't the best idea. Linking a new player to a full Vortex guide is probably likely to make a few quit when they can't figure out how everything operates. Probably best to let them learn hands-on and have someone experienced in Vortex show them the ropes instead. Learning Vortex is hard enough when you're being guided through it by someone. I don't trust a plugin to do that, so I think we shouldn't have the Plugin touch upon Vortex much besides maybe getting stone tools (since up to stone is vanilla crafting which new players are muuuuch more likely to not get confused by). If new players are given a quest to go hunt Vortex boars I don't think it'll end well.
  16. I have 2 questions: 1: Will anything be done about the increasing server bureaucracy and lack of dynamic RP as mentioned on this thread? It's cool to have more methods to bring players into a settlement and give them an ST event immediately, but it's likely that new player retention could still be pretty low if the clique-y RP, AFKers, and sprint jumpers all return the moment the initial integration is over without the new player being a part of any grander story. 2: (this is a personal matter) Will new halflings have the option to be led to Bramblebury? I will be very mad if new halflings don't have that option and have to pick between cities full of races different from their persona. There may not always be halflings in the village, but if you ping our @roleplay role on the halfling discord we can usually have a few folks show up. If it becomes a problem that new halfling players aren't getting integrated, you can give them a compass for Elvenesse AND Bramblebury if they pick Bramblebury so that if they don't get integrated in the village immediately, the Elves can give them some initial RP and have them come over to Bramblebury later if they want.
  17. Filibert Applefoot smiles "Oi'll 'ave'er find ah cool gif'er give yeh, Asphie!"
  18. [!] A note is found in your burrow's mailbox! A small gathering ~A typical day in the tavern~ Ever since Greta Goodbarrel resigned from Elder and left the village, it has been up to the rest of us to keep things in order here in Bramblebury. Thus, I propose we all gather up once again to keep the village nice and tidy. There are many plants that need a bit of care, vacant burrows that can be inhabited by folks who've yet to claim a burrow of their own, firewood to be chopped, and other things to be done. Before spring planting takes up all of our time, we ought to take care of these other matters. -Filibert Applefoot, resident halfling of Bramblebury. ((5 PM EST, Monday the 19th of April. It is possible that few people show up for this due to finals, but I do not mind that))
