The Union had never run more smoothly. Not only had everything seemed more grand, but states across the continental once U.S had actually been urging for re-unification. Although the United States does not act on these people's wishes yet... the pride in their former country is encouraging to the United States government. In Washington, a facility is arranged for the NCR-American meeting. It is made comfortable, yet dark and gloomy. The lighting is dim and several maps of the world litter the room. General Patterson receives the NCR envoy and things are expected to go somewhat efficiently. At least, he hopes so. ((Will be done through PMs))

The Union Pacific Fleet starts working on expanding America's older Railgun technology projects. Not as caught up or developed as the NCR, they don't expect to finish the project and match the progress the NCR as already made. However, they have extremely advanced prototypes and designs useful to any nation with the desire and means to create one. It would make for powerful trade negotiations.

Military factories that have redone the American miltech industry create dozens of infantry vehicles and GI equipment. Conscription continues at maximum effectiveness, and rates are steady and go as planned. Most of the U.S budget goes towards defense, as infrastructure is no longer a worry.

 

The United States also works on upgrading the U.S.S Nimitz - the world's largest Aircraft Carrier - in the Pacific Islands. The name of the island it is held on is not disclosed, and upgrades/repairs are expected to take a few years to finish. Project RHINO, once completed, would be beneficial to this project.

The United States accepts the trade offer from the Australians, but are wary of the entanglement of alliances. Although the Union regards the CSA as a great ally and trading partner, it is suspicious of the NCR and the Commonwealth of Afrika. The Republic of India

 

President Anail's time as president had come to an end, a long run after 12 years in office he finally decided it was time for India to have a new man at the helm. This man was a radical young man by the name of Avatar Tandon, he was a devout Hindu who looked to take back the rightful claims of Indian land! 

 

The Bangladeshi military is moved about 60 miles east of the Pakistani border they keep their wargames going in preparation for an upcoming invasion of Pakistan so that rightful Indian clay may be reclaimed. 

 

With that Tandon, had a problem growing within the rural areas of India, starvation which seemed strange to Tandon since India was being supplied with mass amounts of food from the Caliphate and the CSA. The Islamic State of Turkey

 

 

The sound of industrial factories and war chants rocked the nation, war was coming. Production was increased heavily to meet the future demands to replace and offer a surplus to the front-lines. Weaponry and rations are focused on entirely as the government prepared to answer the call and prepare the infrastructure for the future. With factories answering, now the government turned to the people. Full mobilization is called up within the nation. More than a million men are drafted forward and sent to training camps to be prepared for a war which could potentially grow to multiple fronts.

 

The Bulgarian Crisis

 

It had only been months since Turkey had utilized its superior naval assets to force the back-down of the Greeks. However it seemed that over the time since the confrontion the Greeks had sought to increase their influence to be on par with that of Islamic Turkey. This would not be allowed. A public declaration is declared, proclaiming Bulgaria is off-limits and a missive is sent to the Bulgarian government ((Need a mod.))

"To the esteemed government of Bulgaria, we the Turkish harbor no hatred towards your people. The so called Republic that sits on your doorstep has truly shown its true colors with its attempts at Imperialism. To call it a safe-haven against the growing world threats is a fault you should not blunder to as the other Balkan states have foolishly done. My troops shall show hospitality and honesty as they approach your cities with full respect towards your beliefs and culture, do not fear. Our quest is not conquest like that of the Greeks but rather the protection of the culture and freedom your people possess. Eight squadrons consisting of the famous Turkish TAI TFX which had proved its superiority during the height of the middle-eastern war against Saudia Arabia and multiple other middle-eastern nations are deployed to preform tactical bombings upon the first and second mech squadrons deployed to thrust into Bulgarian territory. The additional benefit of the Greek's not deploying any aircraft of sorts to cover their advance allowed the Turkish Air Force to maximize their full potential with little to no resistance. Bombings are centered on supplies and advancing armored vehicles, large gatherings of infantry, and the supply lines behind the Greek lines. The shriek of the Turkish Air-Surface missiles was devastating as it easily shred through any armor and infantry is came into contact with or happened to be within the zone of the explosions. Their advance would be devastated.

The army makes its way into Bulgaria, showing zero signs of aggression and it marches and sets its objectives in securing the three cities of Dimitrovgrad, Plovdiv, Sofiya which seemed to be targeted by Greece. Platoons are broken off from the main force and are sent into the Bulgarian mountains to cooperate with the Bulgarian military to set up defensive lines and ambushes to cause chaos for the opposing army should they continue the charge. Their thrust would prove useless as the casualties they would sustain would be far too great. Should the Bulgarians work with the Turkish army, the Bulgarians holding the Greek invasion back due to their tactical knowledge and defensive home advantage with the combined might of the Turkish Air Forces, the army deployed should see no issue making its way directly to the three cities and securing them along with the local forces that are not on the front-lines.

 

 

Meanwhile the Turkish Navy which had been keeping pressure on the Greeks since the first stand-off pushes closer with warning shots against enemy vessels and threats of blockading and taking out trade vessels should the Greeks refuse to pull out of Bulgaria.

 

 

A great sorrow is felt for the death of the beloved Caliphate who had recently passed. However it is seen with a new leader would come new possibilities.

Brazil

 

Brazil, over the past thirty years, had been rather quiet on the world scale. Still a massive trading partner in the Atlantic and a major tourist hotspot, most of it's budget had gone towards infrastructure. The old Brazilian government was majorly corrupt, many delegates for presidency being payed off or military officials selling weapons to drug cartels and street gangs. Using intrigue and brute force, most of the corruption in the one Unified Brazil was wiped away. This was all done under the PNFP party.

However, times change. It was felt that although productivity, infrastructure and solidarity between the Brazilian people was greatly improved, Brazil had been left behind economically, and militarily. Already, the CSA had claimed land in South America. Land which bordered Brazil. Land that used to belong to a strong trading partner of Brazil. Columbia. Strong feelings of discontent were obvious towards the annexation, although no official statement has been announced.

 

It was then that the people felt like the PNFP party broke the backbone of Brazil, and eyes turned to a more stern voice in control of a rising power, as much as the former political agenda had done for them. It was here that a new president was elected: an older man by the name of Luiz Silva, an ex military general and excellent mathematician. Immediately, he started laying down foundations for a 'greater Brazil', as many mandates were set to address urgent matters.

Firstly, Brazil had fallen slightly out of the view of the world, as far as diplomacy was concerned. In their time of focusing to improve the country, they had been forgotten by others. The Union of South American Nations had dissolved, which led to a rise of tensions between almost every country on the continent. Envoys are sent to Bolivia, Peru and Paraguay to offer trade agreements and free passage between the four countries ((mod)) in an effort to strengthen relations between them. Germany is also sent a continued alliance offer, as well as a free trade agreement. With Brazil's military quite far behind technologically, they are also asked whether a research agreement of some sort could be negotiated. They are promised that if the Kaiser trusts in Brazil's rising economic power, it could mean great things for the two countries. India, China and Japan are also considered to be high on Brazil's priority list for trade, also with the Panama canal being taxed so high it is not currently considered worth it.

Secondly, the Amazon was to be reaped of it's rewards that nature had offered the Brazilians. Illegal logging camps are razed to the ground, and are instead replaced by government owned facilities. Plumes of smoke begin appearing in the south west of the rain forest, as the old State of Acre becomes a rather important industrial district for the entire country. Oil prospectors search for the mineral as known sources within the forest begin to be cleared out and welled. Oil may become one of the largest industries for the country yet. Mining and quarrying also becomes a frequent sight, as copper and other resources are stripped from the previously untouched land. As for power, three new Hydroelectric dams are set to be created on three branches of the Amazon river, giving access to 'cleaner' energy.

“This is CNN reporting live from the OPEC Summit in Quito, Ecuador where the remaining free states of Angola, Ecuador, Kuwait, Nigeria, and Iran are meeting to discuss the immediate future of the organization. Prices have been skyrocketing as of late, especially with the crisis initiated by the late Caliph of the Islamic State.”

There is a pause in the feed as aerial shots of devastated oil fields in the Arabian Peninsula are shown, and a graphic of rising oil prices. The price of $230 USD per barrel flashes across the screen.

The image of the reporter returns while protesters march by behind him, chanting for an end to OPEC and the sale of oil on the global market.

“Many are already aware of the situation in Ecuador, but for those not up to date on global events, I’ll bring our viewers up to speed.

Here in Ecuador the oil fields that have been drilled since it was first found here are beginning to dry up. Almost two-thirds of what the Ecuadorians have been drilling, they have been selling on the global market. However, as reserves run low many at home are agitating for the discontinuation of sale on the market with the slogan ‘Ecuadorian Oil for Ecuadorians!’”

The screen flashes to scenes of mass protests consisting of peaceful demonstrations which are quickly broken up by riot police using tear gas and rubber bullets.

“As unrest grows steadily and oil begins to be rationed in the country, many demand that Ecuadorians use what’s left for their people and only their people. The government has not issued an official response and has instead called a summit of all free OPEC nations.”

“Ecuador is not the only nation which has admitted to a near total depletion in the amounts of oil left in their wells and reserves. Kuwait has openly stated that they will run out completely in the next decade and will have to rely on emergency reserves after that until they can find a new market to buy oil. Just as in Kuwait, Iran has admitted that their reserves are depleting. The situation is similar in Angola and Nigeria as well.

It seemed like all these networks were talking about was the damn summit in the middle of the jungle.

“Ye’, bud ah’m thinkin’ this a load uh bull. Nawn ub dem gunna stop sellin’, tay make too much damn money ta do id.” A more serious, concerned look crosses the mans face as he runs his hand slowly along the holster of his weapon, thinking of the bleak future.

They look back to the news, focusing in on the words of a female reporter standing aboard an icebreaker in the Arctic Ocean.

“We’re currently aboard the Nordic-Baltic Confederation’s Icebreaker HSwMS Oslo as it sales just over the northern coast of Greenland. Take note in what I just said, Greenland. I am in the Arctic Circle.”

The reporter is in a relatively light jacket while her hair rests gently down over her shoulders. She does not wear a hat or gloves and looks rather comfortable while a light breeze rolls across the Oslo’s deck. Behind her is nothing but open sea and notably, no ice.

“Had I reported her a decade earlier, I would be reporting to you while in a massive orange snowsuit. The sky above me would be white, full of snow-filled clouds while the sea behind me would be covered in massive glaciers. Here there is no ice and this weather reminds me of March weather just as Spring is beginning in my home state of Virginia.

This has allowed shipping lanes to bypass longer travel through the Atlantic and instead can pass through the Arctic Circle to reach the Pacific Ocean through the Bering Strait. This has been particularly beneficial to the Canadians, Russians, and Scandinavians who until now have lacked an abundance of warm water ports.”

A graphic shows an increase in trade routes along the new shipping lanes in the Arctic Ocean as well as the claims laid by several nation states on the area.

“There is oil in the Arctic Ocean, nearly 200 billon barrels of the stuff. That’s more than the amount of oil at the peak of drilling in the UAE, Kuwait, and Qatar. Thus begins a new rush to claim the Arctic as black gold lies just beneath the ocean floor.”

The NCR submarine rocks gently as a large robotic probe is dropped to the sea floor and begins to scan for much coveted black gold. Oil. The NCR’s Antarctic Expedition has begun. Many scientists wait anxious onboard the craft, watching the monitors with a large amount of anticipation.

“The first pings are coming in. We’ve detected something…. a little bit more now. Shifting the probe so that it rotates over the immediate area in with a 100 meter radius. Ok…. we’re getting pings, oil is definitely here….”

Suddenly, the graph springs upward and pings fill the screen as reserves are detected all over the sea floor.

“Holy ****!!! We’ve hit it! We’ve done it gentlemen, we’ve ******* done it! Uh… yes sir, I understand sir, I’m sorry sir. Please put Foreign Minister Depp on the phone.”

The submarine’s second officer grabs the telephone as the sub begins to surface, hoping to please the Foreign Minister.

“Mr. Foreign Minister, we’ve done it. They were right. There is oil down here. But what do we do next? Should we inform the rest of the T.R.A.C? Or will we keep what we have for ourselves?”

At Oxford University, the Aeronautical Department reports an astounding find. They believe there to be an abundance of natural resources on the Moon, Mars, and the Jovian moons. Many believe that oil good be on each of these celestial bodies, but especially abundant on Mars and the Jovian moons.

The Oxford Professors note in the report that they would encourage the British government to take to the stars if they wish to meet their energy needs. They believe that there is a future for mankind in space, if they choose to make one so.

The Japanese Lunar Landing goes as planned with thousands taking to the streets in celebration of the event in Kyoto and Tokyo. This could not be any better for a nation that has bled for so long. Malaysia also joins the Japanese Prosperity Sphere out of fear of being attacked.

Railgun research in Japan goes horribly as they realise just how hard it was for the NCR to create. Especially when the Japanese are trying to essentially start from scratch and reverse engineer an American weapon.

Bulgaria is in turmoil as it is attacked by Greece while simultaneously being defend by the Turks. However, the Bulgarians fear that the Turks will use this war to establish dominance over the region and that they would again become an Ottoman vassal, so in a strange twist of events Bulgarian forces begin to turn away from Graecian troops and instead target the Turks, hoping to push them back into Thrace.

Bolivia, Peru, and Paraguay accept the Brazilian offer of trade agreements and free passage between the group of nations hoping to return to economic prosperity experienced in the region earlier in the decade.

The Italian Empire

 

The Emperor groaned in his throne as the senate bickered before him. Many were urging the use of legions to suppress the southern revolts, many frankly didn't care for the Corsican independence. As the shouts grew louder and more violent, the Emperor shakes his fist, silencing the men. He did not want this Empire to fall as it expanded. Hungary's civilians were suppressed... for now. He has his most trusted men. 

 

Reaction to the Italian Rebellions:
-Each major province is granted its own legion, however the larger standing army is granted to the Senate to be controlled for state affairs

-A Panel of Governors is elected, the governor of each province reports to the city of Rome and the Senate with any concerns of its peoples

-The Governor controls his military, if he displays any corruption he is dealt with by the federal legion

-The Corsican rebellion is left alone, Italy wanting to first solidify its newest province of Hungary.

 

The Governors take over recruiting.

 

Internal Actions:
-All PROVINCES are given a large sum of money, to be decided by the Senate to work on their own improvements, reforms are passed to give governors more power over their own states. Every capital city on the Peninsula is connected by a new and improved highway, work will take about 2 pages. A spy network is developed throughout the Empire, hoping to catch rebellions and revolts before they occur.
 

 

 

The Emperor himself attends Brazil's party, wanting to gain an ally in Southern America. A high ranking Senator is sent to the dinner in England, but with a personal bodyguard of 500. The Republic of India 

 

President Tandon looked cheerful as he got news of the submarine arriving at the designated landing zone, the submarine is unloaded with building supplies and scientist as a base of operations begins it's construction, Tandon also sent out a team to scan for the oil in Antarctica that he had been learning about for some time now. 

 

Antarctica was like a new building ground for Tandon his plan to build a top secret research facility began construction, this place would be hold a project that would be only known as top officials as "Ghandi"  (( 30 pages mod approved))

 

The troops near the Pakistani border are moved around to cities to help subdue the ongoing riots in India!

Things were silent from the Iberian Government. They discussed how they would obtain oil. The House of Chancellors and the King came to an agreement. 'We either fight for oil or we start our own research a new substitute.' King Afonso said. Most of the House agreed, so their three most known Universities would start researching it after they've been done with the new weapon systems. The Universities of Bandajoz, Madrid and Coimbra now worked on a way to find some of substitute for oil. The new weapon and bullets they've researched had also just been finished.

 

 

The Gun called the T-89 Caribine Hispania now could fire a new armour piercing bullet and even older models. New manufactoring of this military grade weapon is started and infantry starts to train with it.A Non-Agreesion pact is sent to Germany along with offer for them to visit the triving nation of Iberia. The new Skyscrapper is finished, new businesses flourish and trive and the people in Lisbon rejoice. Projects in Madrid and Barcelona are also planed. Even with this new technological advancement a new religious wave hit Iberia. Propaganda like: "Fight for Iberia and do God's will" are spred across the country. Churches priviously empty now fill with the parishes, new government funded Churchs Cathedrals and general holy places are planed.More investments are put forward into Iberia for raw materials so new production lines in Iberia can be opened. In Iberia, no nations answer their call to trade with oil (that is, no NPCs). They would rather hold on to what reserves they have than trade it with those would would only seek to exploit them. This is especially the mindset in African and South American exporters. Many in Poland agitate for a push into space especially as early studies elsewhere in the world for an oil alternative have come up empty handed.

The King just nodded slowly, smiling the sun's smile. "I've talked to the Australian Prime Minister, and we're to work together on this project. Perhaps with the Irish as well, although that is yet to be seen.

Friends... we're going to Mars and Jupiter."

Seeing no more need for them to be stationed there, the British task force in Africa withdraws, returning to the United Kingdom. The Afrikan King is told that if his people ever need protection from the Middle Eastern powers again, Great Britain will gladly assist his country.

Upon hearing of the approachment of the Roman forces near Gibraltar, the British garrison and destroyers there prepare for the worst, getting ready to defend the straight from the Italians. Missiles are armed, planes fueled, and turrets loaded.

100,000 British Troops, in addition to aircraft and a fleet of naval ships, are prepared to intervene if the Italians attack the British-held straight or Iberia.

The British government asks for the Roman Emperor's reasoning behind sending an army to Gebraltair.

King William himself offers his appologies to the Emperor if he's simply holding a parade or he DOESN'T intend to attack Gebraltair but simply pass through the straight. He does, however, point out that this is a rather odd and hostile action, easily to be misinterpreted if not careful.

The British, again, request help in defending the straight if it comes to it from Pax Europa and the Iberians.

All is quiet in the small town of L'Ile-Rousse. The calm waves of the Mediterranean slowly guide an inflatable dinghy to the docks, where the crew steps to shore and walks past the small clusters of people that remain out so late at night. They make eye contact with nobody, instead going about their business.
 
The first target is at the top of the hill: the cell tower. It takes less than an hour for the men to hike up and cut their way through the chainlink fence which surrounds it. After planting explosives at its base, they once more descend to the town, and the real work begins. It is now 4:00 AM, and they signal the larger ship which is anchored offshore. Within minutes, another twenty or so inflatables are moving toward the beach, each full of armed men. The minute they step onto the beach, the cell tower is blown, the explosion far enough away that only a low boom would be heard from the town. As several groups split off to block the roads leaving the city, the police station becomes the main target for these men: they were slavers, and they would have no resistance as they collected their goods.
 
By the time the sun rises half the town has been woken up and carried out to the larger vessel. The cries of "Sacre bleu!" and "Je me rends!" ring out throughout the streets as hundreds of citizens are herded toward the sea. A couple hours later and the majority of the town, other than the ones who successfully hid, has been crammed belowdecks with whatever valuables could be found, just as the rest of the island begins to receive reports that something might be amiss. Just one of these could fetch up to the equivalent of several thousand US dollars in the Caliphate, and even more if they were illicitly sold to some shady European or Asian.
 
This was simply the latest escalation in the slave trade that has arisen centered around the slavery-permitting Islamic State. No longer can it escape the world's notice, as human trafficking becomes a major problem in the Balkans and in East Africa. Increasingly often slavers have been preying on the south coast of Europe, though not usually as brazenly as this. With the acquisition of Morocco, it is now easier for such a cargo to cross the Atlantic, which has led to a small market for those with exotic tastes: high ranking Islamic officials often keep harems, and some of them like to be collectors, of a sort. The same applies in the east, although Asia has so many poor citizens that it is less likely to be noticed.
