Hopefully the communities concerns are being addressed now.

This server is nothing like it was in it's first 2 or so years. I would happily trade all of our newer players, or changed players for all of our older players in a heart beat.

The recent changes to the server in general have nurtured new players into the mentality that they should be entitled to these villinous actions, which they shouldn't. And to those who were here long ago as well, you should all know that when the VA system was implemented, the server wasn't this fucked up. It was a far better place, and the wrong doers, or people who got away with it were few and far. That just means the staff have to learn from that mistake, as to use the BlackList aspect and punish those who don't abide by their agreement in the VA.

Though, I would love to Point out Jistuma's post because everything he addressed is also very important to this.

I'll correct myself and redirect what I said about most players being sick. There are a great number of people who only rely on banditry, of the lowest level of roleplay, with the lowest level of interest or care for the server. Meanwhile, MOST of the server, a great number of them are actually productive to the servers lifespan and doing good roleplay.

It's that minority, or... well I guess it's bigger than a minority, that's poison to the server, and poisinous to new players.

Man, you need to realize that the community has changed and that shitting on the people who are now a part of it is unproductive and uncalled for. You need to be nicer, although I think you should probably leave if you dislike the server so much in its current state.

I feel option one or two would be best if what was above was the only option pool. I feel the best way would to be a compromise with replacing VA/MA applications with a blacklist. And then have small teams monitor the blacklist instead of GM's. I understand you guys have a lot on your plate, but if you are truly observing roleplay and see this. Your reaction shouldn't be "This system is broken and needs an overhaul." It should be, "This guy or gal needs to be blacklisted from this RP." It is better to have the small group suffer than pulling the whole community into something they do not want!!!

There is a lot of dust that has been blown everywhere from this event and I really hope that it settles down the way the majority of the community wants it rather than ruining a perfectly good crop.

Once you're all done getting past all the **** talk that you drove me into after I stated my logical arguments.

The current issue at hand is that players cannot be trusted to perform villainous acts, because they've performed such acts at a very low level of roleplay standards, and have no character reason to do so. The fact that there are far too many people commiting villainous acts, and it has to be moderated. In which the VAT work perfectly.

So far everyones arguments have been that it didn't work in the past because of a VAT that didn't do their job well enough, or people who were the same kind of people to do random, stupid criminal acts got VA's accepted anyways does not immidiatly relate to the issue at hand. The VA will shorten the number of people commiting those acts, and after time has passed, players can then pass judgement on how the VAT are doing, and if there are people who are still a threat to the server in terms of ooc nonsense driven by low level banditry roleplay.

Or they can implement the systems, "And" focus on blacklisting people who didn't deserve, or shouldn't deserve MA's or VA's.

I think the magic system is a different issue, so I'll just go into my opinion on villainy, as a villain, and taking in everyone else's opinions.

Being a villain is fun. My best characters are villains, and I think it adds a lot to their complexity, their motives, and their development.  Certain things considered "villainy" however, should not be counted as such. Why do I need a VA for a split personality? Why do I need a VA to be insane, or to be a psychopath? If we absolutely had to keep the VA system, it should only be for things like murder, kidnapping, and torture. But even then, someone's writing ability is not indicative of their RP ability. In RP there are other people that have needs and wants, they aren't made up characters you use in the open answer questions on the app.

I wouldn't say the system was fine before, but this seems like a bunch of hoops to "prevent" poor villain RP, when you guys just could have punished poor villain RP. Blacklists are good if you use them. Blacklists are great in fact, as I think being reactionary rather than trying to prevent RP with the VA's is better overall for for the server. As it doesn't punish people who haven't done anything, by having them work on an app. It boils down to the staff needing to utilize the blacklist system properly, and take a stance against poor villain RP. I feel like the community's ability to report these sort of things, ban reports, are largely overlooked. Simple ban reports take quite a while to process, and even then their verdicts may not be satisfactory. It should not be considered "out of the way" for a GM to go back and look through logs if a player did not get enough screenshots. And if the blacklist system was put into place, it would be on players as well to properly report poor RP. But I doubt that will be a problem. Just my 2 cents.

There wouldn't have been an issue with villainous RP if the quality standard was upheld and enforced by moderators in the past.

Link to ban report showing bullshit villainy

Remember this? This was going on for... Eh, probably safe to say nearly a month. After several modreqs, several GMs actually floating around and watching this unfold day in and day out, to the extent that it was something that had to be dealt with hourly, do you know how it was finally resolved?

A GM had to have his own RP interrupted by the meta-raid team, to do something about it.

This is just an example of how villainy RP declined, but not only that, also how the staff let it decline.

Now instead of actually moderating you've established screens for players to go through instead.

With this in mind, the 3rd option is the best one to me.

This is so typical of the GMs.

Option 1. A new staff team should not be created when there is already a position upholding those duties: The Global Moderator. quite frankly I never saw Villian RP as an issue and now it is an issue because this new system limits what a player can do. This sort of the thing is called an OOC barrier that led to the dismantle of the original system. "Do you have a VA for that" is all you will here as you go through possible character development RP or you could be following orders, or by provocation. The blacklist was a fine system and it was failed by you, the staff team.

On an unrelated note, the Undead's undoing led to these OOC barriers created by the Antag Managers, so what I'm trying to say is that this system will inhibit RP rather than enhancing it.

tbh I hate the idea of "villains" who need "apps." Characters are not black and white. They do good and bad...very few people are entirely villainous or good, and some characters can act in a villainous manner with good intention/or are turned to villainy in the moment due to desperation etc.

It just creates another ooc barrier.

edit:Just realized how late I was to this thread lol.

I do not think the staff is addressing the issue correctly, I do not see the need for VA’s

I honestly do not know about MAs as I haven't seen a magic user yet.

What I think the server requires is toughness from the staff team.

You  are facing a decline in quality roleplay because the server seems to allow the following.

  • Trolls to be exact Toxic trolls - People that have nothing better to do but log in to the server to troll and pvp they do not provide any sort of decent roleplay.

  • Memers I do not understand this new concept honestly but the staff said no to it but I still see it ingame and I do not see the staff banning people for it.

  • The requirement of hard evidence to ban alts - we used to ban on suspicion or knowing via ts or wtv method..

  • Fear of lash back because of banning trolls

  • Fear of being targeted by DDOSS

The solution is simple BAN ban ban.

If you want to have quality roleplay ban the toxic trolls, perhaps you won't ban all of them but.

There are specific people in certain groups that if you ban them you cut off the head of the snake.

I do not understand the staff fear of lash back since the staff used to ban leaders of groups for the action of their members.

I shall give the example of both Mirtok and Coaster while none of the two are trolls or toxic. And wether I agree with there bans or not, they still got banned for the actions of people in there group that were toxic to the community.

The staff needs to become tough and start banning people you do not require VA’s it won't even solve anything. You require the trolls fearing to be banned so they shape up their act.

If I was a staff member I would not stand for people trolling in roleplay I would first message the trolls and if they continue they would receive a ban nor would I care about the repercussions.

The toxic trolls are widely known to the staff members, use lbchat or follow them ingame take screens over the toxic behavior and ban them its simple.
