There world of Aegis as it is known is a canvas; the painters linger far above where man cannot see, far above the clouds and in a plane where they may reach down toward the land, whereas it’s denizens cannot reach high enough to meet them. The world is based on a center-- and from it, all things took shape. The mainland of Aegis was the center of all homelands known, and it remained so as the Gods made raise of an ocean, and then the countless other lands that dotted it’s endless expanse. But as the centerpoint was ravaged by the fire of a Fallen, jealous lord, the canvas dulled; and that which dwelt other worlds, met the reality of old Aegis’.

This is the rhetoric of the ancient sages whom had cared for the first Cloud Temple in ages’ long past, but it is not meaningless-- explorations, expeditions and discoveries were put behind such bold, eldritch claims, all based on a single, unexplainable force that cleaved a land in two, far from the shores of Aegis…

Aeldin is a land of wonders, known by the rulers and caretakers of the Kingdom of Oren, the Kingdom of Mankind, as a place ruled by Horen’s descendants. Upon the foundations of this land were great civilizations built; many a brick stacked to make rise of the tallest walls, sweat shed to trek the perilous mountains, and blood spilt to keep the civilizations in question in-tact. But as ages passed, more and more was discovered about the tamed continent. Realizations gave way to the spinning of tales that reached across the sea; tales not backed by dreams and beliefs, but discovery and wonder. Tales that spoke of the Primeval Schism - that which cleaved the land of Aeldin into two admist an ancient cosmic event, and thus connected the east and west to two different worlds.

It is not known how this actually came to be; with largely-accepted reasoning being that it was merely the will of God above, who sought to keep the descendants of Horen who dwelt Aeldin connected to the same worlds as the other transient races. It is scribed in holy tomes that on the first day that man stepped upon the landmass that was to be named Aeldin, the Creator’s gaze was cast down upon them -- His omnipresent attention, all focused on the pilgrims of mankind who would herald the coming of kingdoms and kings. Five days passed, and upon the fifth, God took pity upon the sons of Horen who disconnected themselves so thoroughly from the rest of their cousin races; and thus, as if to bless them, cleaved Aeldin in two. Forever after was the west to settle in the world that hosts Asulon, Athera and all other lands, and the east to settle in the primary world of Aegis.

But such claims were merely fabrications; the beliefs of monks, priests and deacons under God. The true reason is not known, for it cannot be understood, and that which made way to such a connection of worlds could not be comprehended by the mortal mind. Too great was this truth that it was never found -- only the Schism, and the mysteries that it brings.

The path of the actual Primeval Schism of Aeldin sits directly upon the continent’s center; spanning what is to believed an unmeasured sum of several miles. Most puzzling is the fact that the geography of the land does not fit with the site of the Schism, and the most ancient maps of the Aeldin do not make sense of it’s expanse. Yet despite the obscurity that surrounds the Schism, and all the anomalies that it harbors, the Schism had been deemed a holy path - the Pilgrim’s Way as deemed by the priests, and the Worldgate by the common men and kings.

This Pilgrim’s Way is perceived as a nigh-endless desert that breathes no breeze, shares no heat or cold, and hosts no life or water. So flat is the path of the Schism that the common man would believe the distant mountains would be visible based on the anomaly's stark geography. Yet, nothing can be seen -- only a blue sky and a flat ground. Those who enter either side of the Schism always find the other, further puzzling explorers and researchers of Aeldin -- showing, even with effort, they literally cannot get lost in a desert that shows no horizon.

Among these strange cases is the fact that others can be seen traversing the expanse of this Worldgate. Many of these sightings are merely the fact that others had been making the pilgrimage of the Schism the same time as the reporters; proving that the bridge between these two worlds could be traversed with others, even those who come from the other side. However, it seems the bridge had even extended into the past and future -- in times yet untold, and times long past. The kings of the west could be seen traveling the road, but could not be seen on the side in which they traveled to. Rarely, saints of Aeldin were discovered by pilgrims and accompanied, but as they trekked from east-to-west, it seemed they disappeared in the blink of an eye. These unsettling cases led to the theory that the Schism is such a cosmic distortion that it even penetrates the planes of time and recounts the steps of men who walked them, yet those of present days would always find themselves in the same year - the same day - after crossing the Pilgrim’s Path.

It is the untold machinations of the Primeval Schism that has led to the reconnection of Aeldin to the four races who returned to the Aegisian land of Athera, and the very same for the Exodus of Anthos; the Schism allowed the continent to reach into both worlds, and thus keep Aeldin close to their cousins across the seas. To this day the Schism remains a mystery -- a holy place, a realm that is a host of legends from the past and peasants from the foggy future; and no matter the effort to strain the effort of the brick and mortar upon this cosmic center, no wall or fort or city could be raised upon it’s expanses. Men could walk along God’s bridge, but they could not take it.

(( Aeldin needs lore to realistically exist in two worlds. Here it is. ))

I will give you a quote from Cracker(pbuh) to crazyguy1916 that emphasizes how I feel about the matter.

Though useful, no point writing lore about Aeldin unless there is lore which states Aeldin even exists.

I thought it was established that Aeldin was a legitimate continent, but had no means of accessibility.

If Aeldin exists, then the point of this thread seems to be to establish how travel to and from Aeldin is possible because of the switching world retconning stuff.

Aeldin is a non-canon continent, the lack of legitimate means of accessibility is just another reason why.

Assuming Aeldin was a continent during the Exodus that means it was present in the realm/dimension/plain what have you, of Anthos and thus only accessible while the living descendants were in the Verge, Asulon, Elysium, Kalos and finally Anthos. Once the living descendants crossed over into the fringe, it returned to the realm of Aegis and Athera.

Aeldin may exist but to have access to it you'd need to develop a portal to cross into the old worlds.

Or maybe not, I'm not a bloody LM.

You can sit here saying ice-cube ores in the earth make arctic regions, but lets whip this Shi'a for doing work to integrate a unique continent in the game.

Menarra the Lore Admin said Aeldin is canon. Several GMs have said it's canon. Now some LMs are saying it's not canon? Stop contradicting yourselves and make up your minds.

If the lore is read thoroughly, then it would be understood that the Schism is the portal that allows people to walk back and forth through the two known worlds. The undefined cosmic force allows people to traverse from east to west or likewise, which means half of the continent is accessible in one world, but the other half is in the other. It is rather simple if broken down.

I feel this is a good option to keep Aeldin relevant and not swamped by any LT miscommunications and retconning. Adds good depth as well and establishes Aeldin as an important, existential gateway.

i quote myself

for easy solution to this issue

even tho i love u swgr

Suggestion: since the main issue seems to be wherein Aeldin was in the same plane as Anthos, which is now supposedly inaccessible, would it not make since if the people of Aeldin were given a chance to flee the dying land, as those people of Anthos were given, and then fled to a new land, which they renamed Aeldin again and have stayed put in ever since? Is it not possible this new land is in the same plane as Athera/Aegis proper, and is simply on a different continent, making them unaware of the presence of Athera until recently when it was discovered by merchants and the two peoples came back into contact once more, now both on the same plane, one of whom having kept their ancient continent name (Aeldin) and one making up a new name for the new landmass, Athera?
