WuHanXianShi14 0 Share Posted November 28, 2015 I often feel impact-less when I play large event monsters. The goal for me is rarely to kill off your characters, but to bang them up a lot. I have done several combatative RP events, and the only way I've seen for me to get across the point that your character should suffer major bodily harm and would reasonably be afraid of whatever I'm playing is to kill the players. It's never my intention to kill players, though, and you should know that better than anyone: you and I talked for a while about the pointlessness of constantly lethal events. That said, I wish players knew how to break more than just ribs and take cuts to their shoulders. I appreciate the feedback, though. That's just the nature of newer or lower-quality RPers. 95% of the people who RP fear or significant harm are experienced roleplayers who have shed that "RPG hero" mentality that one comes into the server with. I feel it's these people you should target in the aim of doing enough damage to make the power of your ET creature poignant. Don't try to brutalize someone who just doesn't get the point of collective storytelling, or better yet, educate them first. And Disco, as far as my original complaints go you largely don't fall under them, I've got no problem with your events (that said, I can't remember the last time I was in one of yours, stop by Laureh'lin sometime :) )

_Sug 2809 Share Posted November 28, 2015 (edited) Help us bring back the Antags! That's all! Besides that Good job, but seriously, Antags, please, Antags........ We have in game cult meetings and Ibless sacrifices and have grown fairly strong in numbers but we keep hearing LM's saying no which means no events for us but we will still try to get Ibless back! ET should help us do so! <3 Edited November 28, 2015 by Sugs
Farryn 860 Share Posted November 28, 2015 My view on the ET is 50/50 spilt.Basically. The positives. I've seen (and taken part in) a few events help by the ET since we came to Vailor and some of them have been quite good and interesting. Currently, I had some involvement with a very interesting event line revolving around a being known as the Undying One that Aerialkebab is doing and I'm actually liking how it goes (we haven't reached the end of this event line yet, although I'm wondering how this will turn out). Also, there was the event where DiscoLiquid made us kill two huge birds, heedless to say, not only was that fight intense but it was fun too. Even took part in some PVE events which were fun too. Also, the staff are friendly and willing to cooperate, especially if you want to try something out. (Me and my RP useage for Alchemy potions.) As for the negatives. I feel as though some, if not, most of the events are focused on fighting. I'm not fully certain if some ETs try and mix the events up to make them unique but most of the events I took part in have mostly been combat-based ones. What would interest me is events that focus on possibly exploring, sailing, or ingredient searching. Heck even an event where you get to camp with people taking part in the event and actually getting to know their characters more. Sure, have an odd fight or two here and there but don't make the all the events fully focus on killing one thing. Also, what I agree on with people is that due to timezones, some people may be unable to see an event or get on when an event is taking part, believing the ET has done no event at all when they have. So what the ET should do is try and spread out, being able to hold events in different timezones so people who tend to be on when the server is less active have a chance of an event. Also, target other people, like give the Khas an adventure, or give the orcs something to do. So, my recommendations are:More events that don't fully rely and focus on combat - Include some sense of exploration, travels, and encourages socializing among players.More ETs in different timezones - Allows users in a certain timezone to partake in an event if they struggle to attend one held in a different timezone (Example: GMT user unable to attend an event that's at 10PM EST time.)Focus on more than just people at CT docks - Go to Khas, orcs, dwarves, Necromancers, etc and give them some of their own events to take in. Or try and mix up the amount of different races and professions in a group during an event. My own ideas for events (just since while writing this, I got some ideas) - A possible underground cave exploration. Maybe an Alchemy based event (would love to see one of those). An event line including a possible players-getting-chase/need to escape moment. LatzMomo 2088 Share Posted November 28, 2015 (edited) I have been playing this server for about a year and a half, I love this server, I occasionally take a month break away from it, but I always come back. LoTC is tons of fun, but in all that time I have almost certainly seen less than fifteen events, yes, and I can guarantee that I haven't seen an Orcish even in over 6 months. I actively play an Orc and it honestly gets me right salty when I see that certain groups are getting more events in a month then I have in my whole time on the server. the event team needs to work with the Orcish player base and find active players; those who play multiple days of the week for hours every day that they do play, on top of this, they need to know the orcish lore and culture well and have a timezone or schedule that allows them to get on when we have the most Orcs available. Orcs are one of the 4 original and main races, though the Event team doesn't treat them this way. Another thing that would be fun is just teleport to a random player walking on the road and give them an event; Wolf Attack, beehive breaking near them, zombies, even maybe a wounded animal! This would make walking on the road actually enjoyable, and rewarding, rather than a chore, and to avoid at all costs, you could even do RP for people who are riding to somewhere to raid, maybe a blizzard, forcing them to set up a camp and RP being stuck in a blizzard, I dunno! I'm Glad to see that you're taking this feedback and actually using it, I have already noticed an ET member speaking with the Orcs about events, good luck with the changes and hopefully you guys can create tons of RP and fun for many different people! A riff on that perhaps: having an ET replace the FT on a cart/boat to a place mid-journey to the destination, where the cart/boat had to stop because of a sea creature, monster, animal, weather, whathaveyou. Stick in some RP when people least expect it in general. Might be a lot of work for only a few (potentially angry) players is a problem, but man would that be a quality touch!
Mephistophelian 977 Share Posted November 28, 2015 (Yeah, I did get a bit carried away. If you want my feedback, read the first paragraph only.)Not every event has to be about combat, or something overused. Aerial, I will use you as an example, if you do not mind. Recently, I had an event with Aerial where a creature was stumbled upon and tamed. It was fun, not particularly dangerous and was, importantly, character building. My character gained knowledge, lost a body piece or two and all-round developed from this experience. Heck, it even lead to him going to get a new runic replacement from a dwarf, and thus making a new ally. Was it a big event? No. Was it one where the player had to overcome odds to 'win'? No. Was there any 'winning' anyway? No. It was organic, had no specific end and was enjoyable. I believe the ET should do more of things that aren't spectacular or otherworldly, because it eventually becomes dull. "Oh, another gryphon attack?".I leave you with an event idea that could be a bit of fun: A sword is found buried into the hide of a bear the players had just killed. It has initials carved into it. Those who find it will discover it in good shape, so it is very evidently new. They can either choose to take the sword (in which case they have a normal sword with initials that aren't their own) or go out on an adventure to return it! They can ask around, trying to find the holder of those initials. Meanwhile, the ET (who has been RPing that person as, perhaps, a traveller moving through the lands of the descendants) is out there making his character known. What results is a cat-and-dog chase across the realm, following the trail of this man with odd initials. At any time, the player (or players, presuming he brought friends along) can give up, and still have a good tale to tell IC! Or they can eventually find the man, who thanks them graciously! In return, he offers them the location of, as he calls it, a "beautiful resort!". This could lead to a whole new event line in a build location. Yes, it may take a few days and require ETs to be on at the right times, but that is why you have ETs in many time zones! As for the initials man...Well, he could go on losing stuff, being the forgetful klutz he is! There you have it, a totally 'normal' event, by the usual sense of the word, which could lead to a good deal of fun.
Crowbill 493 Share Posted November 28, 2015 I kinda feel the event priority of the races goes in circles and circles and circles and circles (monkey why, monkey why) because I remember dwarf literally wanting to murder ET for events. I mean, we are currently fine with events seeing as we have the blessed Bird around. But yeah, gib some events for orcs, they are the ones currently filling lonely. I mean if you need materials for events, can't you just ask the upper knowledge orcs for ideas?
The Fact Core 511 Share Posted November 28, 2015 The Event Team should do more Events together with the players. Also work with the LMs again, there is so much lore and even the most tiny bits need some attention. Otherwise, everything has been said. Do more events, do less "kill, crush, destroy" events and more stuff to support roleplay. Support the playerbase and their characters stories, example: The necromancers want to summon some bad bad spirit, get one event team member to assist them in that. No, I don't think there are enough antags.-How are the quality of events that you see? They're alright when I see them. -What changes would you recommend for the ET?Be more open to recommendations, do more events or even little events. Ricky 321 Share Posted November 28, 2015 (Go on then)How do you feel the ET is doing as a whole? We deliver many story events. But we do have some reliance on PVE/RP fighting at the moment. Spontaneous random menial task events are something I believe we can do, puzzle ruins are perfectly within the builder’s capabilities but honestly they would have to be very hard puzzles/ challenges considering going to that effort for them to be insta solved by some freerun pro is wasteful of our time. -How often do you see events? Do you feel that there are enough events?Every actor makes an event a week. We also have certain people we do not do events for to be honest, because if you're going to be a **** over lore or you spit your dummy if you don't get your way we're not going to play ball with you (not naming anyone...). You can't win everything. Whether this event a week policy could be a storyline event a week/ 2-3 random menial tasks/ simple pvp events a week could be an option in my opinion. (Basically I'm promoting, go to a spot prepare and defend events, daderic god style quests that be set up in an afternoon and then just do some menial silly tasks, some tasks that are just there to take the piss and random areas and puzzles as well as all that we already do) –The ET is so serious event wise tbh-How are the quality of events that you see?Well I am building for many storyline events and all of these are well thought out and made to a very high standard, if anything people committing to going into all this detail and not just going at it on the fly is the main problem. -What changes would you recommend for the ET?Just more spontaneous events and events for a certain standard. Cpt_Noobman 1954 Share Posted November 28, 2015 The ET as a whole seems to be very out-of-whack. I see very few events, and most of those lack severely in quality. However, a few ET members do an outstanding job, most prominently Riverbird/Seb. I enjoy his long-lasting and intriguing event lines. Plus, he can build. Get more people like Seb, creative and dedicated. Also, this map offers extremely little lore-wise, and it seems it contains no lore at all. Create lore for the map, even things like native species, and geography, and give your ET's something to work with.
Neri 3590 Share Posted November 28, 2015 DelaneyG contacted me about an event recently, which was a pleasant surprise. Besides Wiseacres he's the only ET member I personally have seen do anything within the human nation.I blame the bureaucracy. Seems like a shitton of red tape is involved in making events.
