  1. 1. 5.0 Fast Travel

    • Fast Travel should be like Vailor, being common upon the server
    • Fast Travel should be per island
    • Fast Travel should be allowed to nation capitals only
    • Fast travel should be allowed to nations only, however is limited to an amount (Ex: 5 Per nation)
    • Fast Travel should be removed completely
  2. 2. Raid Limit

    • Maximum raid cap should be decreased (2 or 3)
    • Maximum raid cap should remain the same (4)
    • Maximum raid cap should be inceased to 6
    • Maximum raid cap should be increased to 8
    • Maximum raid cap should be increased (State your opinion/idea down below)

Fast Traveling and Raiding Limit Poll

Hello LOTC. I come to you today with a poll to see the communities opinion on two subjects regarding 5.0 and our current rules on raiding. For the staff is looking to garner the playerbase’s opinion as to take into consideration in how we proceed with the server with both fast traveling and the raid cap.

Fast Travels

This has become a big subject amongst the playerbase and staff on what we should do regarding fast travels. We would like to know how much you want fast travels to effect LOTC in 5.0, and by extension The Islands of Axios. This pertains to how much they’ll be integrated in 5.0 and how commonplace they would be among the playerbase. Whether there should be fast travels at all, for only capitals of nations or how the current system is and have a fast travel wherever is desired by the players. There are many arguments for and against this, with each having valid arguments, and the staff is looking to get the player-bases opinion on how we should proceed with them.

Raiding

Onto raiding, we would like to know what your opinion is on the raiding cap of four. While this isn't for 5.0, we still want to see how the playerbase likes the new rule. Whether you think this should be increased, decreased or left alone completely. This has been an issue up for debate, and many find themselves wishing it higher. The Game Moderation Team would like to put this up for vote as well, and see the opinions of the players under the current system and if changes are necessary in their opinion.

That’ll be all for now folks. I hope you have a wonderful time on the server, and if you have any questions or concerns please feel free to post them down below or contact one of our wonderful members of the Game Moderation Team.

Sincerely,

            Game Moderation D̶e̶p̶a̶r̶t̶m̶e̶n̶t̶ Team

fast travel should just be used to take you across the water. Have people walk a road down to a dock where the water starts, get on a boat ft that takes you the other side of the water then continue to follow the road/path to the cities or nations. Do not make it to take you all the way there, thats stupid.

Less fast travels or none at all. I don't mind a fast travel to say..A specific race's region but still have a bit away to walk to reach a city, but FT like now is just...it's so bad.

Fast travels should be limited to nation capitals. A boat from CT to the capitals docks, assuming it has one. Then it is up for the nation to invest in a good road system (for when other settlements can be set up) that is easy to navigate and detailed. It would also encourage in-game maps and travel guides, something I probably would make for my respective nation.

Fast travels that go to all the settlements and villas is silly, and removes the sense of exploration. This is important for the new map, as it is being hand crafted. There will be no large swathes of bland, boring land like in Vailor (I'm hoping). It was fun to run around Athera and explore.

If the raid limit is increased, the cooldown had better damn well be longer. Some of us don't enjoy being raided every other day.

As for fast travels, I think we need to have much less, or none at all. Either one is fine with me, honestly.

So, I accidentally voted for the raiding cap to be increased to eight. I meant to vote for it to stay at four. Don't ask how it happened.

I want a voting refund.

In regards to the Fast Travels, I think just one per island would be good, or maybe a set amount per nation. And not just main race nations. If separate nations like Aethermoor or Caliphate or whatever heck they want to call themselves make it to 5.0 they should have at least one fast travel to their capital city.

As for the raiding cap... please please please if you're gonna jack it up all the way to eight, toss those of us that don't log onto this server specifically to get roflstomped and bullied by sheer numbers a freaking bone. I don't feel like spending the start of 5.0 stuck in the mines scrambling for iron to hurriedly make us the best gear I possibly can so we don't have to worry about getting raided and losing what little stuff we have. Basic math says if you jump it to eight, its automatically going to go to pvp default with the current combatant cap for defender to no longer be default at seven. I come on this server to actually roleplay, not use the flawed minecraft-provided mechanical armor and weapons that supposedly even the playing field to pretend like I'm having a fulfilling roleplay experience. Because I am not fulfilled by clicking. I am fulfilled by telling a story. A story which cannot be so easily retold if most of it was comprised by *clicks left mouse button.*

I personally feel cracking down harshly on fast travels would encourage people to be out in the world more as most RP is limited to the immediate vicinity of said devices (ideally one big main road between all major destinations per isle would allow 'traveller' RP, as well as opportunity for things like bandits - not the worst thing ever with defender default - and trade caravans) and prevent a lot of issues present in the server today like the possibility for an army of reinforcements to be at the other end of the world in seconds when called upon either through 'legitimate RP' or metagaming, making raid parties more authentic in that they'd actually have to traverse the landscape to reach their destination, allowing breeders to have a 'point' besides fuelling cavalry warfare (which has always been laggy and avoided, especially with the current warclaim system on different world maps). It could also work well if put hand in hand with a crackdown on 'carrier birds' which have the ability to cross the world in seconds (again as fast travels allow players to) and encouraging horseback courier players that would spread news IC - again promoting roleplay.

I personally would have fast travels limited to distances requiring a boat to cross, the only drawbacks of such being that players would feel more inclined to stay within their respective nations unless prepared to make a journey... Though even that in turn could be beneficial, and certainly prevent the current issue present in larger nations like Oren which have dozens of ghost towns which would just be illogical to keep without the 'cart convenience'.

I don't have much of an opinion on the raiding rules, as I don't really participate in the part of the playerbase that raids (or is raided often).

I just voted for it to stay the same... But I don't want my uninformed vote to hinder an informed vote!

Maybe put an option for "Unaffiliated" or something? Us Unaffiliated peoples could just put for it to stay the same, but perhaps everyone who actually knows about raiding doesn't want that, if you know what I mean. Just a small point.

In my opinion, fast travel should be from island to island. It would be cool if there's a way for us to make boats/ships more interactive (boat "Monks", event team members that are dockworkers?).

I don't think there should be fast travel between any parts of the same island, unless perhaps it's literally on the other side of the island. We can promote "taxi" services, where characters with horses can rent out their horses to be used for travel?

I dunno. I think the main idea here is just to have more player interaction on roads and paths. As opposed to dozens of carts all gathered in one location that all lead to far away places. It just splits the playerbase; destroys the natural web-like network of interaction that would actually happen between cities with roads between them.

If we limit fast travel, can we also get reduced cooldowns on our Soul Stones?

Please clarify that the "to nations only" will be for nation capitals, not just any part of the nation.

This all depends upon map size.. Which to my knowledge, we have have no knowledge of.

Please, please, please let the amount of fast travels decrease. I wouldn't mind if we completely removed them, although that wouldn't personally be my first choice, it is a choice that I will happily accept.

This too, tbh.
