On a serious note, this is sort of how it is. It has to be this way. I'm not saying nepotism is good, because **** voting your friends onto the team purely for being your friend, but often communicating with staff members is a sure fire way to catch our attention. On a server with thousands of players, we can't train our eye on every single one. Going out of your way, communicating with us and actually showing to us directly why you'd make a good staff member is literally the best way to get onto the Team.

Say what you will, but that's how most jobs work. If you're friends with a current employee and are able to show the employer your capabilities, you'll likely get the job over someone who just says they have the aforementioned.

Nice meme tho. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I disagree solely because people act differently to their friends than they do anyone else. The fact of a matter you're rarely ever going to be moderating your friends, so you should pick people based on how they treat others. It's very easy to claim you're unbiased and tell your friend you are, when it comes down to it though it can be a very different case.

I think albeit mob mentality is wrong when it comes to negatively or possitively supporting someone, picking your friends is a lot less productive because it leads to an environment where there are less arguments, less representing of a community, less removals due to personal ties to that person.

I would rather personally work in a moderator environment where everyone is at eachothers necks because that's what breeds the best possible result, more aguments cover more problems. Near the end of my nod career it was just someone having an idea on a some contest or something and people saying yes.

Please also don't use the reference to workplace, Fireheart and Pandan making the GM team like a business was the biggest mistake that I've ever witnessesed on my time here, it also explains the lack of competency amoungst the GM team, because they are frankly not picked on skill, or dedication to roleplay and the progression of the server.

It's just openly admitted if you're liked you get GM. I look forward to the day when the team are rid of shills who only care about pixel power and status.
