I feel as though I don't have much of an opinion due to joining the server when it was nearing the end of Vailor, so I didn't vote on the poll. I've heard a significant amount of pleasant feedback about Aegis and Anthos the entire time I've been playing LOTC. I would have loved to seen and explored those maps.

Maybe partly for the nostalgia but I enjoyed Anthos because it just seemed quieter (to me at least). The trench war with Oren and Urguan didn't start till a little while later but I always found fun rp in the racial cities and mostly everyone kept to themselves. I could go to Darkhaven and hang with the darkies, go to Leanniel and bug the woodies. There'd almost always be something in the wilderness nearby. Spontaneous little events happened all the time and were only ever so often "Hey here's the bad thing, kill it". I miss finding little nooks and crannies to explore and villains who weren't after pixels or another corpse. Walked in on a harbinger doing some ritual thing and he did some explosion of shadow thing from under his robe to scare my character off. Or when bandits did find you on the road, they were content with the fifty minas you'd throw or just a sword. It was simpler, less greedy, and as much as some people disagree, I felt like the antag was great.

Anthos > Asulon > Vailor > Aegis & The Verge (both were present at the same time) > Fringe > Kalos & Elysium (both were present at the same time) > Athera > Thales > Axios

I like Anthos the best.

Great antagonist in latter part (arguable, some people didn't like their OP pex and felt some of the wrong people got on the antagonist but I had no qualms.) I think a server antagonist keeps people busy so long as it means something worthwhile and it doesn't cater to a specific clique group and makes them the protagonist. I'd also say it kind of takes peoples' minds off political rp and makes a nice balance. What better peace maker than a destructive (even cliché) antagonist? With a good story maybe it wouldn't even be cliché. I'd even be down to join the antagonist this time around and just wreak havoc and give some excitement for folks.

Good sized map. I was only on Anthos for a few months, beginning November 2013 and ending around May/June? 2014 when we went to the Fringe. I missed out on pre-exodus. But I was there for a decent amount of time and I still didn't get to explore the whole map it feels like. Malinor looked great and was full of spooks to fight (the dark arts rpers were really dedicated at the time good rp from both sides), Oren had a nice frontier side and it was always fun trying to evade orcs getting to New Abresi since there was a lack of fast travel. There was also a few islands scattered off the mainland and the wilds and ****. I forget if the mainland was all just one continent.

CLOUD TEMPLE. I suggest putting the cloud temple at the center of the next map like they did in the latter part of Anthos and have 4 roads, each leading to one of the four RACIAL nations. Even as a former independent NL, we should be putting the primary focus on the racial nations. Independent nations can have a side road splitting off from one of the main ones hypothetically. Festivals every week or two can also be held at Cloud Temple like they did in Anthos which was a nice outlet and break from the general rp we did.

Guarantee if Administration makes a good map and provides the tools needed to create good RP then LOTC will be decent again. Believe it! :)))

That correlation does things to me. Seems like something from r/dataisbeautiful.

Does anyone have Asulon, Anthos, and Vailor world downloads? I have Athera.

I joined in Vailor, so I don't really have much of an opinion over which map was best or which one had the greatest lore.

I think, in terms of looks, Axios is amazing. It's gorgeous. I love exploring and finding the absolutely incredibly made things.

That being said, I feel like it's too large. Everyone is spread out. I liked the size of Vailor. That having been said, I think fast travel was a big part of why I feel so strongly about Vailor's size. I was lazy. I took fast travels everywhere.

I was one of the people that really rooted for a bigger map before Axios made its debut. I thought having larger areas would cut down on raids, helping people build up and have more time for peaceful RP. I was wrong. It's worse than ever, and we're so spread out that it's hard to get help. Smaller groups are hounded repeatedly, sometimes multiple times per day by the same one or two people. It's frustrating.

Also, with the larger map, it enables players who want to conquer huge areas and make their own settlements. However, these areas go dead within a short period of time, as it spreads things too thing and causes people to have a hard time finding any RP. This was an issue in Vailor in some places as well, even with fast travel.

I would love to see a smaller, well thought out map. Something with the beauty of Axios, but the size of, perhaps, Anthos? I believe that's the one I hear so much about. I think less focus on size, tiles, and land disputes would be good for the overall RP atmosphere. Instead, focusing the map on beauty, closeness, and main settlements would be more enjoyable.

I feel like the current map has more appeal to the PVP heavy, Civilization fans. For the rest of us, we're just trying to RP and survive.

I'd love to see Athera if you could share. If you (or anyone else reading this) can get their hands on Vailor and Anthos, I'd like to see those as well.

Anthos, in my opinion, was the best map, followed by Athera. Aegis has a golden spot in my heart, but we'll never manage to recreate it, so there's no point bothering. Anthos' capital cities felt very real. So did Athera's. Both of them were easy to navigate, Athera quite so. I could get anywhere I wanted to be on Athera with ease.

I've come to think maps only play a small part. The demographics of the playerbase are the more dominant, and unchangable factor. If the same playerbase and staff team had been constant across all maps, I doubt there would have been a difference.

People make the map fun, not the other way around.

3.0thos had the best layout, best nature, best everything... besides the road taverns (but even those were fun to troll).

Here's Athera:

I couldn't find the original thread that I got it from, it was in my Downloads folder from March 2016.

EDIT: I found the thread.

I guarantee you that nostalgia influences almost all of these votes. Including mine. Two years from now, when we're on 7.0, you will make a similar poll, and you'll find the people who joined during this time fondly recalling their first days in Axios.
