Small Map vs Big Map

  1. 1. Do you prefer a small map (Athera/Fringe size) or a massive map (Vailor size)?

Athera was in my opinion the best map I've been on. The fact that it was small meant that there was always RP around. Although people say Athera was really clustered, it didn't have to be - all of the nations simply decided to start on the main road. But there was so much of Athera that wasn't used.

I would prefer an Athera sized map without the nonsensical King's road system. The staff team will just have to enforce stricter regulations on who gets land, and player groups themselves will have to think twice before giving a 'noble' a fort, because if we have as many unused plots as we do in now it will be a clusterfuck.

I really did enjoy the March Ash scavenger hunt event we just did, and I can understand that it won't be possible on that scale on a smaller map, but I feel the items rewards were some of the only reasons people have for deciding to explore the barrens of Axios.

I think a map that can have the main nations (Orcs, Humans, Elves, Dwarves) and smaller settlements for each should do, if needed some cultures should put their cities together, e.g. Dark Elves and Wood Elves live together, due to the fact that Ker'Nor is a fairly dead city (Basing off what I've seen) right now a lot of people have resulted to isolating themselves into their little player groups, a smaller map would benefit this and help stop people creating their own fortress of a home.

Big. In Vailor, it seemed there was always a place I haven't been

make it medium, i was a aroung for Athera and there was rp galore, but everything was cramped. with the large map there is almost no rp in major cities. if your going to make a large map, make it worth exploring, add in items and give bonuses for building in areas and attract rp there, limit building, and make peices of the map get lost over time, like a chuck of the isle sinking due to some crazy stuff that happenes, make the rp more centered without making it cramped.

I've only played Axios, is it considered a big or small size map?

A new map big like Axios will be fine

medium sized, but tbh any size works with a centralized portion of the map and equal distance to each major capital by road.

I disagree with you. I think that on a smaller map, we could have as many settlements as we do now, because it would be possible to travel between them and find RP relatively easily. Athera had a strictly regulated number of settlements: there could only be as many as there were nexus-plots. That's what made the King's road so ridiculous, in my opinion: There were like five buildings along it and that number was never allowed to grow, despite the fact that it had the active population of a city.

I'm not a veteran lotc roleplayer or anything, but I would personally prefer a map smaller than what we have now.

Fringe was way too small, Athera was barely too small, and Axios is just a little too big.  Seems to me Anthos is roughly a good size, though it's layout was terrible.  I do like the idea of having the main nations clustered more closely together and surrounding this civilized area with wilderness.  Not every piece of land needs to be divvied up and given to nations.  This means they're still wilderness to explore/do events in, but getting between cities doesn't need to rely on fast travel.
