THE ROYAL HAESENI TOURNEY

In honour of His Majesty, King Andrik IV, and the Exalted Sigismund

His Grace, Sergei Kovachev, unhorsing Lord Britannus Vanir, then Master of the Joust, 1500s.

Three Hundred Years have passed since the Exalted Sigismund acquired the final scrolls of the Canon, the Scrolls of Auspice, unlocking greater knowledge unbeknownst to Man at the time. And Three Hundred Years of His knowledge continues to be preached by his descendents. Not only a Titanic figure in Human History, the Exalted Sigismund can also be credited for the events that would eventually lead to the establishment of our nation, our title of Ruska having once been under his primary control. As the 300th Anniversary comes to pass, we celebrate His Revelations, raising our lances high as we dedicate this Tourney in His name.

 

The passing of our late King, Andrik III has left us in a state of mourning, but as the war continues, we will not falter in our quest to acquire ourselves a better and safer future for our generations to come. So we look forward with great anticipation for the Reign of Andrik IV, son of Andrik III. Long live the King.

 

Additionally, His Majesty sees fit to restore the title of Champion of Haense, a once prestigious title during the golden age of Haeseni tournaments. Untold privileges befall upon the victor of the melee, who is dubbed personally by the King as the Champion of Haense. In rare occasions have tourney participants also been Knighted by past Haeseni Kings for their valour and martial prowess.

 

Adjacent to the Field of Combat will be the Archery Range and the Festival Grounds. During this Tourney, Haeseni craftsmen and peddlers will be able to present their wares to the crowds. A matchmaking booth will also be present at the event.

 

Following the conclusion of the Tourney, the King Andrew IV and his consort, Queen Maya of Muldav, are to be coronated within the Palace of Ekaterinburg. All are invited to take part in this momentous event, as well as the tourney.

The Haeseni Melee

The most common test of strength for the Haeseni is the melee. Two combatants set upon each other within a ring as the crowd watches on, ending only when one yields the victory to the other. The execution of one’s opponent is highly frowned upon, resulting in the imprisonment and trial of the charged. The victory of these duels is then granted the Champion’s share of the prizes, as well as the title associated with it. Three Thousand Minas is afforded to the Champion, although a 100 mina entry fee must be paid in order to partake in the melee.

 

The Haeseni Melee also comes in another variation; 3v3 Team Battles, where the aforementioned rules still remain in place. Three Thousand Minas is afforded to the victors of these melee, as well as the title, ‘Defenders of Haense’.

The Joust

While a more traditional Imperial lifestyle, the Joust has nevertheless been adopted by the equestrians of Haense as they prove their worth on horseback. This event is reserved solely for the Gentry and Nobility of the Empire. The Victor is afforded the title ‘Master of the Joust’, dignifying their skills with a lance, along with a prize pool of Two Thousand Minas, although a 100 mina entry fee must be paid in order to partake in the joust.
