Rhewen 348 Popular Post Share Posted June 23, 2021 On the 18th of The Amber Cold, and the 29th year of the second age. Deep beneath the city of Luciensburg, in the unending tunnels of the Ratiki, one cold blue eye closed its lid forever. And with it’s closing, a soul was sent up to Dungrimm to be weighed in the halls of Khaz’A’Dentrumm. In his final hours he pursued a righteous battle, as he had done his entire life. What he received was a merciless execution, in a fiery blaze of glory. Rhewen had heard tales of the infamous Rakki beasts, and knew of the rot such creatures could spread into the borders of his nation. Though such vile beasts would not be the ones to claim his life. Even as three rat-crafted bolts were lodged into his body, he stood as tall as he had on the walls of Khaz’Nogak. His hand never left his axe as he saved his great grandson and fellow companions from the burning monsters which pursued them. In a flash he was surrounded by fire, molten rock spewing about him as burning spiders leapt at him in blinding light. Still he charged, as the skin left his bones and his beard burnt to cinder. Cold blood had flown through his veins for centuries, in this flaming tomb he remembered the mountains of Athera, and Vailor, and the icy wind that blew over the slopes there. With every step he took the mountains faded from view and were replaced with the hellish cavern. In one final swing of his axe a spider was struck. But he could not swing even once more. With a burning sigh he fell to his knees, knowing that his grandson was safe, and the others would survive after his folly. He rested his head upon the head of his axe, and expelled his last breath. A Dwed who exemplified what it means to be both a Frostbeard and an Urguanian, Rhewen’s memory will live on for centuries to come. Terry 1859 Share Posted June 23, 2021 Ulfric stood strong when he heard the news, remaining emotionless for the most part, in front of his fellow kin. He gave worthy bear-hugs, smiles, words of encouragement, and a promise to those around him. "Teh t'ose thengs t'at took Rhewen from teh dwedkoind todeh... Prepare yerselves... fer teh Azwyrtrumm are comin', an' teh end ov yeh disgustin' existence comes wit' et. Narvok oz Urguan, Narvok oz Rhewen!" When Ulfric made it back to his home, he collapsed. Full of dread, regret, sadness, and rage, he made a personal promise to see those that killed Rhewen exterminated, once and for all.
mateolog 1551 Share Posted June 23, 2021 Baldin wonders if he will see Rhewen again in life or if he will have to wait for the sweet release of death to see his friend again. Baldin would take a puff from his pipe before exhaling "time shall tell..." hed state.
Treaty 1349 Share Posted June 23, 2021 The typically cheery nature of Azkel would have faded upon hearing the news, his soul now empty with the loss of his biggest supporter- his father. Having not left his house for the past Stone Day, it is unsure if he will ever return to his old self, or if this loss is enough to cripple an already broken dwed.
Shorsand 1745 Share Posted June 23, 2021 (edited) "I should have barred the dwed from entering those halls." the Burgomaster says to a random Checkpoint Guard. "But he insisted he needed to see it for his own eyes, he wanted to see the evils that lurked below, so that he could report to his kin in Urguan and rally for aid. I was one of the last to see this ancient dwed alive. Luciensburg is indebted to clan Frostbeard, and his death will not be in vain. We will quell this tide of vermin together, mark my words." he concludes to the Guard, who seems to have dozed off while the Burgomaster spoke. Vangroth 39 Share Posted June 23, 2021 Cleaver merely sits in silence upon hearing of his father's fall, grinning moments later "Tha' me pops. N' mattah how ol', he died jus' like he promised. Axe een hand, choppin' shoit een half." he'd reach for a nearby tankard, raising it one final time in the honor of his legend of a father
SimplySeo 5270 Share Posted June 23, 2021 "An' so passes another legend of yore, and another ancestor feasts with tha' Gods in Khaz'A'Dentrumm." Jorvin Starbreaker says mournfully. "So few remain of that great generation, ah'n e'aer fewer with the passage of time, and the time is coming soon where we must take up their mantle, let us hope we prove half as worthy in the eyes of the Gods! Narvak oz Urguan, Narvak oz Rhewen!"

Caelria 2618 Share Posted June 23, 2021 Joseph Brandt recalled the Dwarf's valorous and brutal sacrifice for days after the incident had occurred. He would awake in the night to the pitted screams of the Frostbeard's body overcome with the burning pitch of molten stone, and relive the moments where the bolt meant to mercifully end the old warrior's life flew wide and snapped across the brittle stone. On one particular night like this, mixing the cleansing mandragora afforded to him by the Owynist clinic in Luciensburg in with hot water and swallowing hard, he gripped his own scarring wound in memory. Though not received in the undercity of the Ratiki itself, and instead on the fields above before the doomed foray, it would serve as a brutal reminder of that day until his last day.
BDanecker 858 Share Posted June 23, 2021 As the news of his fellow Clan Lord came to the golden dwarf, his expression fell as he sat in the opulent halls of his great Elder Clan. A number of thoughts flew through his mind, but there was one that was most prominent in his accute mind; death is impartial. He was rather dismal at the realization, though he found he should have came to terms with it sooner. He thought to himself of how the greatest Azwyrtrumm was slain by rats and spiders, whereas a Starbreaker who was just once king had slain a deity. It made no sense, but the disparity itself was enough to understand, as Dorimnur racked his brain against the concept. There was nothing Rhewen could have done different, and Dorimnur sure hoped it was the way Rhewen wished for his death. For not all dwarves are lucky enough to determine how they die, but all are fortune enough to choose how they live, and live Rhewen did.
Willstertheking2 1101 Share Posted June 23, 2021 Levian'Tol Grandaxe would hear the news as he moves away from Mervel Frostbeard. A soft sigh escaping him as he slowly makes his way home. The hollers of rage from Azkel Frostbeard sounding throughout Urguan as Levian'Tol's door shuts behind him muting the noise. The Grand King would stagger through his home before collapsing before the fire. He knew Dwedmar would die during his reign, especially ones he ordered into danger, but not him, not Rhewen. He took the crown off his head, the light of the fire dancing on it as he just stared into it the gem.
Durhuk Frostbeard 3 Share Posted June 23, 2021 As Durhuk sat in the clan's council room. " Oi wish Oi couldda fought with ya... Ol' man." The dwarf would whisper, sitting there, remember the time he spend with the old man, The best he got was when he was taught had to kill off a polar bear, His arm still in the red blanket, wrapped like a sling from the injury. Surely durhuk had not known him for long, yet the ol' one still did a huge impact on the young dwarf.

LuneAria 169 Share Posted June 23, 2021 Asvi Frostbeard returned to the city the next week, lowering her haul of freshly skinned pelts from her ram. She searched for hours to find her great grandfather, but he was not in the square, nor in his villa, nor the tavern, nor in the clan hall. Dread rooted through her heart that long day, till through word of mouth it finally bloomed its awful, bone-chilling petals. The moutain halls are empty without his laugh, yet should one escape to open air they will meet yet with the eery quiet of the woods. The trees hold their breath here, the wild beasts have been ravaged by the sorrow and the axe of a Frostbeard daughter who knew the tales of Grand Emperor Rhewen and had the honor of poking his gloriously bald head. He will leave his imprint on every generation of our clan into eternity. Every dwed will know his name. Narvak oz Rhewen, the greatest great grandfather to ever live.
SoulReapingWolf 2258 Share Posted June 24, 2021 Upon hearing the news Magni would begin weeping. Perhaps his encounters with the Shirtless Emperor were few but Magni saw him as a grandfather. Wishing to become an emperor himself in his younger days the young beardling would take off his shirt for an entire year to show his mourning for the Grand Dwarf that had been an example of greatness since the days of Aegis. "Narvak Oz Rhewen, may ye feast en Kaz'A'Dentrumm sum day A'll join ye up t'ere an tell ye all t'e tales o' me grand loife an 'eroic deeds inspired by yers... ye will always be t'a Shirtless Emperor" Magni would then leave to Azkels house to offer him a drawing he had made of himself by Rhewen's side when he was younger. "A be vereh sorreh fer yer loss Auncle Azkel"
