Le Prix

de la Publicité

Mes Lecteurs,

As the columns of before pass on and the new events roll in, it is my duty to provide the public with the most needed knowledge of the empire. At least, the information that everyone is dying to hear. So read on, and see the truth revealed in the writings below. And if you too would like to reveal the truth of those around you, write a letter addressed to myself:

Madame Vérité.

THE DUALITY OF THE DUKE

Mon dieu! Before Astercalia had its start, the prince had his hands deep in drama when Duke Joseph d’Azor had his emboldened daughter come before court and claim the place of the future empress. We all remember his immediate resignation following that and know that this is some plot by the Azors to attempt to regain relevance that they once had under the late Count Ledicort d’Azor. Perhaps this is the saving grace of Duke Joseph’s marriage, by grabbing at the imperial throne that he was so close to as Archchancellor. Qui sait? Lady Lucia Annunziata could simply be a snake in the grass herself or a strong candidate at the future Emperor’s side. She did, afterall, point at Lady Ioanna herself and say, “You’re standing in my spot.” Oh, assez audacieux, she is!

SECOND-BEST SPONSORSHIP

The publications of the debutantes and bachelors in the second dated Astercalia alarmed quite the message, the dryness of the participants posed a query; with the lack of ‘eligible Ladies and Bachelors’ who shall the future and current peers wed? The lack of suitability amongst the list of participants as half of the debutantes are of common birth. However, the list of bachelors have more variation with the houses to which they originated from. Will the illustrious ‘noble lines’ be mellowed with common blood soon enough?

Princess Lorena Theodosia of Furnestock

THE CURSED PRINCESS

The last member of the imperial family and one who is cursed without a doubt, as the courtiers say. Not even a single bachelor will dare go near Princess Lorena Theodosia, even if she is a to-be titleholder and a mainline imperial princess. No wonder, as she was born not longer after the penance walk of Emperor Philip III and Empress Anastasia I. Servants have been seen around the palace, dead, after interactions with her as well. Mon dieu, what is it with this imperial child? Even I would caution safety around her cursed presence. Perhaps even the Aster Sightings that have taken place are relating to her presence.

THE TRAGEDY OF ASTERCALIA

The dinner before the debut led to nothing but bloodshed for the lords and ladies of Astercalia as it was interrupted by the Ferrymen invasion.  A particular sadness has washed over society with the falling of John Aurelian mere months after his marriage to debutante Katerina Angelika as he fought valiantly for the empire. His significant loss has left the jewel of Sarkozy widowed whilst pregnant, leaving her to care alone for the children of John. In the height of the social season no less, will she debut as an eligible debutante or will she remain faithful to the vows which she had made to her late husband? We hope that the debutantes of this season will come together and show some support for this poor woman, instead of being reclusive and uncaring for their fellow courtier.

A BLACKSHEEP AND BLACKVALE

Never has Princess Anna Ulyssa seemed to fit into the imperial family for all the prestige and grace that it withholds, pranking and playing around without note to the much needed etiquette that she lacks. And when she did start to inch towards acting like a royal, she disappeared and came back to cause a bit of a stir amongst eligible suitors in the palace. While it seemed like Princess Anna Ulyssa was betrothed with Lord Anton Draskovic, those rumors don’t align with the views of the princess herself! She was caught flirting with Willy Horen during imperial court, and also with other bachelors around the palace.

Lorena Theodosia pinched the bridge of her nose in utter disgust of the libel written upon the page. The Princess who was not cursed whatsoever trotted over to the Barony of Pompourelia, meeting with her eldest sister with a frown firmly placed on her lips. "Catherine, look at this utter nonsense." The young Novellen would say with a huff, clearly and audibly annoyed at the lack of realization of the public.

"My, my, my! What drama unfolds in the Imperial Courts" The Arcane Tailor remarked as she sipped her tea from her quarters in the Aster Hall.

Joseph d'Azor smirked as he read the papers within the confines of Azor. "My daughter knows what she wants..." He spoke simply with a puff of breath sipping a flask as he set the papers aside. "She has her duty, as do I, as do we all. Truly the jest of papers is interesting..." The Duke laughed reading onwards the fictitious literature.

Katerina sat alone in her bed, crying onto Odessa's shoulder. "It's just been a month since he's been gone, and they're already writing about it and pushing me to make my debut." She thinks about her child as she looks down at the rings John gave her. "They should be ashamed of themselves."

"I'm going to kill this 'Madame Verite' for spreading such blatant lies about you!" The Duchess of Westmarch remarks to her sister, tossing the flier away before continuing to practice the swordsmanship that Arthur of Caermad had so carefully taught her on a dummy in the courtyard of her family's keep. @Azie

After seeing the gossip column spread, Empress Anastasia made way for her daughter Lorena’s imperial quarters. “My dear?” She called out for her from beyond the door, “You are not cursed. Merely, hmh, unfortunate on the matter of timing. . . Yet that does not hinder you now, does it? You are still strong, you are still a Novellen and your blood is that of the many great rulers of our empire.” Perhaps the column was not so wrong, yet as a mother seeing such said about her daughters left her unsettled.

"Not being involved in this is so much better." Remarked Amie Halcourt, Chloe de Rosius, Maria de Rosius, and even from the seven skies Elizaveta Ruthern and  Agnes de Falstaff TOTALLY agreed.

Though Chloe was the one to really get into the columns. "I hope our debutante is doing OK Elara, I hope she comes to see us if she anything troubles her. Should I send her a bird? I might!"

"They forgot the part where Philip III was secretly bedding the King of Urguan!" Exclaimed a rather annoyed Ser Trent Tricepts as they read over the missive.

Diana Vuiller would of laughed to her heart’s content over the missive regarding her brother, “My, well… our Father was quite the man but such generation is gone, hm? Let us live our own lives!”

Sir Joseph Sarkozic would blink about his sister being pregnant; although, a sip of a Carrion Black cleared his mind a tad. "Well, while his ideology as a politician was that of a Sanoist; I suppose the man did not get executed for that, but for past actions done against the Haenseni. Nonetheless, his name will be remembered. With that, Joseph put on his armor and so let a Lechian servant in the Barony of Pompourelia write a letter to his sister.

"Dear sister,

It pains me to hear of your loss, something that could have been avoided if we secured the surroundings of Providence. I can see how this can be a disaster for you; whilst you carry the child of the man who you loved.

As far as this child is concerned; with the passing of John Aurelian, this child shall be known and recognized as a Sarkozic. They are now recognized to be apart of the Sarkozic Household and remain as such.

Signed,

Sir Joseph Sarkozic,

Baron of Pompourelia, Duke of Westmarch

Patriarch of House Sarkozic

Princess Catherine Anastasia,

Duchess of Westmarch, Baroness of Pompourelia

Matriarch of House Sarkozic"

“Yet another woman swooned by Willy Horen. How could this happen?” Derfy VII shuddered.

"These papers are not only disgusting and hurtful to those involved, but also cowardly." Laurentina turned to her husband. "If we find the author, we will have them beaten and their tongue torn out. It is only right so that they may no longer spew vile lies and misinformation. However knowing the cowardly snakes living in the courts, it is quite apparent that they will just vanish back into nothingness once the Astercalia is over."
