NotEvilAtAll 9945 Popular Post Share Posted February 8, 2023 This is the second time the elves have threatened war with the orcs and the orcs have resolved things through diplomacy. Why are the Elves, who should be reluctant to die in battle due to the difficulties of raising another generation of warriors with their infertility curse, so eager to start a war? And why are orcs, who suffer from the curse of rage, able to solve things diplomatically instead of going berserk? Elves roleplay the Orcish curse better than the orcs do. Likewise, orcs roleplay the Elvish curse of infertility better than the elves do. You never hear of large orcish families, yet huge elven families occur quite often in LoTC history. Elves are the second most active race and live in huge cities with high populations whereas orcs are confined to a single nation and have the lowest numbers out of the main 4 races. Thus, orcs roleplay the infertility curse better than the elves do. It’d make more roleplay sense if orcs were actually the infertile ones. My modest proposal is to switch the curses around. Give elves rage, make orcs infertile. Thus, elves can have all the giant families they’ve ever wanted without fear of the ST and orcs don’t have to worry about not being “true” orcs if they aren’t actively murderhobo’ing. This suggestion is only 50% a meme. Other options include banning everyone in West Hub for FailRP and making elves a CA race.

MisterBlitzkrieg 1357 Share Posted February 8, 2023 They are eager to knock orcs down a peg or two due to being old enemies or whatever. That is why they use whatever little casus belli they can get, but maybe it just has to do with Celia being mainly led by ferrymen who are pvp oriented. In other words? It's the leadership of each nation and not much else.

Laeonathan 4018 Share Posted February 8, 2023 Let's just forget that humans had an uncountable amount of wars and war-threats inbetween the two the elves had and the last actual elven war... just look at the 5 others, anyone still even remember all these threats?

Humans live very short lives compared to the rest of the races. Just like we irl, we are driven to do something grand and spectacular to ensure their name lives on by leaving their hand/footprint on the world. In noble's and royalty's case, it usually means owning large quantities of land which is tied to prestige and being greater or whatever which is why they have so many wars. They want to be known as conquerors, rulers of grand empires, and liberators. This obviously leads to more wars. As for your regular human mf? Probably raise a family and follow their life purpose idk.

And tbf, racial buffs for orcs in pvp did used to exist, I have so heard... makes some sense? ig?

Yes, the adreline factor is powergamy too but even there it doesn't excuse them, especially their lore doesn't state they are immune to pain. Being immune to pain doesn't protect you from a stab or a shattered limb. Using the excuse of your curse is powergaming and lorebreaking. Whether it's adrenaline or not, it is bad. I'm not saying the elves are less cringe or the perfect race(since they have lot of problems too) but I have noticed an annoying amount of pride on the orcs side as if it is only one side's fault.
