a recent example was a few of your guys rolling up and trying to rob a friend while they were in LC.

(it was me, not Olox, sorry Mick :( ) A perfect tie in for my feedback though, haha

I 100% agree with Keith here, because some interactions with Ferrymen have been enjoyable for me and others not. Recently, Budaq and AF7 tried to bandit me while I was in LC, which was a little off to me, but they were chill with me needing to afk for a moment to help my father. They were also chill when I had brought up a mod ruling on LC banditry, so I have no qualms with their actions. I appreciate that they were being chill. Most people I talk to oocly dread banditry rp by the Ferrymen just because of poor faith interactions.

A lot of people have said how I feel for the most part so I won't add anything else, but I appreciate you making a post asking for feedback, so thank you!

tbh.

99% of the time i dont think the hate is directed at you guys. i think the term "ferrymen" has become synonymous with "pvp goon who bandits me on the road/raids my vassal with bad faith" which is not necessarily your guys fault

i think the problem is w the players not wanting to lose their valuables lal (kinda what unwillingly said), i've never had any bad encounters personally : 3

forgot to mention this when i first wrote the comment, but another problem is how people just can't seem to have fun. the idea of being bandited triggers them to a needlessely deep level and they get frustrated, hence making the encounter terrible for everyone. it's good to not take the game 2 seriously sometimes

As a long-time grunt guard player - i have had quite a few meetings with the Ferrymen. I'll try do my best & give some 'constructive' critizism & feedback. o7

Honestly, few first ones were pretty good & I enjoyed it. Brought back some fond memories of Atlas & conflicts there(Last map i played before this). But since the Coalition war, where a raids happened incredibly often i have definetly soured on the homies with ?teal? bandanas.
Now, i'm not going to pretend like i didn't develop a 'bad-faith' feel turning the time. Both the frequency, it happening when I log on late(EU) to do something real-quick & being absoloutly destroyed every encounter by ST-signed item or magic, are part of why quite a few times i've turned incredibly sour in the interactions OOC. i've not won a single encounter lol.

But to be fair - it is not all your fault as many times, when my character was fighting for his life, people who COULD join in either just stood around & watched or dipped as soon as they saw the nameplates. Which obviously added more to my spite & let it get better of myself. I understand people are super conflict averse - but i think part of it is because a culture of 'kill or be killed' has spawned. Something i don't blame you guys for but definetly something you guys can help fix!

In short: In the future, when i get blasted by you guys, please don't just make me /d40 or kill my character. I want to have RP come from my characters loss & injuries - not memory hole, thinking i might have 'misplaced' my gear & carrying on like nothing happened. In return, if i ever get manage to get a W, i will settle for cutting of your hand only o7.

I've had my ups and downs with the Ferrymen but generally I'm cool with you guys rn. I think people who are complaining about your antagonistic stance sort of forget right now that the entire server has by and large been allied with each other since the Fall of 2020 against one enemy (Oren -> Adria/Veletz -> Ferrymen) that's basically required one player group to do the heavy lifting of being "antagonists". People can complain about wanting better, richer conflict, but rn the Ferrymen are the only ones even trying to shake things up despite having to align against a server that's unwilling to do much beyond casual, non-combative roleplay.

When I joined LOTC and knew absolutely nothing about the server the ferryman were described to me as the ultimate evil by a bunnyboy. Then @Orlanthshowed up at my doorstep irl and we went on a cute in & out date and now I do not think they are the ultimate evil anymore.

On a serious note as someone who briefly ran and still is friendly with the group, I hate all of you sometimes you are the worst headache to deal with as a collective but everyone on this server is at some point. I think a lot of opposition comes from the normal things that come from the receiving end of villainy. There are some conduct issues at times but Mick has been open to communication about most issues even if we do not agree on things. I do hope you can figure something out since this map feels like you have been floating around trying to figure it out but this might be a good start.

OOC I have nothing against them other than a few failed roleplay interactions. I think maybe they could do with some more control/leadership. Or atleast someway of vetting the newer players who may not understand rp as a whole. From what I've seen some people use the faction as an excuse to rob people to make easy mina rather than develop an interesting villian/thief character. It's good to have a kind of lower form of criminal but not if they actively avoid real confrontation. I remember reading if you were gonna steal that maybe you could leave a calling card of some kind? That way it leads to interesting plotlines etc.

the ferrymen scammed me for all my cool st items and said the only way i can get them back if i fight with them. its been 2 years now and the items still nowhere to be seen. i am being held hostage against my will. when i try to leave they send me my location in dms... someone should really do something about this problematic group.

Some have touched on the ferrymen being an entity that encourages conflict and serves as an antagonist, and this is true

It could also be argued the ferrymen serve as an inhibitor for conflict - the threat of a group whose sole role for a good few yrs has been intervening in various conflicts, for various IRP and indeed OOC reasons (as everyone does), would obviously discourage a nation made up of the average player from wanting to invest in starting one.

I can't decide whether an lotc without the ferrymen would be an extreme of no conflict or lots more conflict tbh.

And purely out of interest, for those who have played longer than me, would it be true to suggest that multiple groups similar to the ferrymen existed at the same time, balancing eachother out, before the timeframe of the creation of the Hangmen very late on Arcas? What impact did this have in contrast w the current server conflict vibe if it was?

When I first met ferrymen, I was a little boy, naive and a potential victim, I was the age of 15 when I joined and started playing in oren, I showed my insane abilities in pvp (i mogged everyone in oren), even in roleplay I was a gooner on many levels, but I received nothing for my skills, and one day, I see this guy with purple nickname Mickael-HZ, he challenges me to a duel and I got killed (mr chenn set me up for my failure, i lost all my aura and reputation in oren) so orenians started bullying me more, then Mickael-HZ took me in with my friend palad1n, he promised me that we'll get revenge on oren and i'll become orenian emperor one day, now 3 years later, I am playing a character by the name of Cletus O'Fentling, a hunchback on the spectrum. i think i will become orenian emperor soon.

Despite somehow not havin more than 1 encounter with the Ferrymen with how cursed my luck is OOCLY, I'll admit the 1 instance I DID have left a sour taste in my mouth & felt bad for those who were also dragged into it.... I remember back in Kaethul back when the city was hopping, full of people selling goods at their stalls, people stood about the streets to converse, even enjoyed the tavern for the sold drinks. Yet when it came time to close up shop for the night by the owner of the bar's word shooing everyone out nicely, the Ferrymen rolled in to cause a rauckus both in RP & OOCLY.

It was attempted to try & keep the peace to strictly only in RP, with asking the group to leave the tavern as well, but some members refused to leave from behind the counter, others ignoring players' words to simply drink for the fun of it. I can't recall how many guards were called to help the situation, but despite being pushed out, they began breaking windows to get in, so the tavern keep gave in & allowed the Ferrymen to drink inside the tavern with the gates down.

This only caused more chaos as the group THEN decided to claim the tavern as their own, attempting to sell drinks under their roof & cause a mess for the owner to break down & leave at 1 point; I felt bad for the owner, but had no power to fight a group of rowdy drinkers on my own. Heck, I'm surprised none of them tried to rob me of my jewelry right then & there.

I understand they just wanted to have fun & may have gotten upset if the tavern was closing up, but it also cut the fun for everyone short when none of them would listen to OOC concerns enough to try & corral the situation. I'm not sayin all Ferrymen are downright rude & rowdy, but the lack of restraint definitely doesn't paint a pretty picture for anyone to want to join in the RP experience....
