  1. [!]A note makes its rounds around Almaris. Written in scratchy handwriting, without much effort seeming to be placed into its contents to look nice.[!] I am looking to take on one singular student in the Arcane Arts. You will learn a total of six different forms of magic, or pseudo-magic, in your time spent under me. I will not be taking more than one student on in this given century, and the process of learning will take several decades of intensive study. I am looking for someone of the minimum age of fourteen to the maximum age of thirty. I do not care about your gender or your race, but first consideration goes to those of ages sixteen to twenty. You will live with me during your studies, acting as a servant when not in your lessons. If you are a parent wishing to send your child to me, understand that until the completion of their studies, I take full custody of them and all decisions related to them. You can have them back after. They can visit and spend time with their family just fine. Life will not be glamorous. Most often you will live in a small home, cooking and cleaning and learning other life skills - other times sleeping beneath trees or in wet ditches. Your learning is not restricted only to the arcane, but all worldly knowledge, and many rituals not specific to one form of magic or another. You will not be a Mage, but a knowledgeable Wizard a cut above the rest. I assure you that. If you are interested, contact Lefkos Amethil. Most readily found in the Dwarves of Hefrumm. Alternatively contactable through delivered notes or Celia'nor. (( Bones | Will#6969 is my discord))

  3. [Amendment]Water Evocation: Hail Storm Edit Purpose: Hail Storm is the only spell Water Evocationists gain at Tier 5. In writing a small amendment to Fire Evocation's Tier 5 spell, it has been raised to my attention that most of the evocations suffer similarly from incredibly weak Tier 5 spells. My proposed changes to this spell are as follows: The removal of the line stating that the spell can't kill anyone that isn't already severely injured. It notably still cannot kill someone on its own and has taken on a more utility-standpoint in this edit, but it now follows a common sense rule of additive injuries to those who are already harmed/being harmed by other forces while in the storm. The addition of a set of details on how much damage the spell does. Less vague. The ability for the storm to slowly move once cast. Reduction of mana cost to a general tier 5 spell, rather than one's entire mana pool. The ability to continue channeling the spell at the cost of the rest of one's mana pool. The addition of details on how abjuring effects interact with the spell. Original Version: Start: Hail Storm [C] End: Once this spell is cast, the mage is barely able to cast for the rest of the encounter. Edited Version: Hail Storm [C] - The most devastating and powerful attack of a Water Evocationist, incorporating all which they have studied and learned into a single spell of unbridled fury of ice and water, laying waste to their foes if used in a proper manner. Mechanics Redlines
  4. Users of those given magics are more than welcome to make their own amendments. I might take a look at a point but I only practice fire evocation, and it was already noted in story discord that it's relatively up to players to make these amendments. If you propose sweeping amendments to all evocation t5 spells, that sounds like a job for the story team and not me.
  5. [Amendment]Fire Evocation: Flaming Tempest Edit Purpose: Flame Tempest is the only feature Fire Evocationists get at Tier 5 bar Combustion, and it's in a pretty dire need of a buff. As the pinnacle of fire evocation, it should be at least feasible enough to use in certain circumstances. The idea here isn't to make the spell overly strong or powerful, but at least not unusable as it is in its current state. A list of the proposed changes are as follows: Total Emotes to Cast: 7 -> 6 Removal of the redline marking it as impossible to kill anyone who tanks the full duration of the spell unless they are already heavily wounded. This defaults the spell to the normal rules of Conjured Fire listed prior to any spells in the fire evocation lore. The spell already functioned like this, but with the prior implication that it just ceased harming someone at a certain point. Mana Cost reduced to a normal T5 spell instead of nearly all of one's mana pool. Addition of the ability to add combustion to the spell, doubling the mana cost to all of one's mana pool. The addition of details on how abjuring effects interact with the spell. Original Version: Start: Flaming Tempest [C] End: This spell will never outright kill someone unless they remain within the storm and are severely weak/wounded prior. Edited Version: Flaming Tempest [C] - By concentrating all of their knowledge and power into a single spell, a fire evocationist may create a devastating storm of flame and smoke which may inflict great ruin upon the battlefield and one’s opponents. 10. I've never before met any fans of wizard of earthsea. It's always "like the tales of earthsea from studio ghibli?" First favorite is the Lies of Locke Lamora into the Gentleman Bastards sequence Next is Wizard of Earthsea
  11. How do you make an appeal if you don't know why you were banned? A thought I've had for a long time on a lot of sudden bans

Okay but squak everyone who claims they're scared of being harassed or bullied for reporting someone 100% does the same or worse than what they got the other dude banned for.

if someone is confidentially reported by a group of individuals do you tell that person what instances got them banned precisely, what screenshots of leaked chats or dms, what vcs (of which they can all presume were with certain people)?

      Yes?

How else should the banned player know what they did. Guy cant even defend himself??

Grooming and being a sex pest is another case, but harassment is not something where the victim should be hidden.

In most cases its both parties that startled eachother until one of them steps out of line and gets reported by the "victims"

What you say is something I've spoken to others about, I agree 100%. Though I find that and the alternative of giving an explanation are both pretty shitty choices, choosing to maintain silence is the lesser of the two evils. No arguments there.

My question however, is unanswered in your reply. If your ban is not indefinite but is for harassment, what is the appeal process given you do not know the context of your own ban in this example?

  12. So I got excited for Stendhal as I love being a librarian, but I was disappointed; you need 1.18 for the feature to copy published books. However, it encouraged me to get off my butt and start looking. The Textbook mod for fabric does not offer nearly as much as Stendhal does. It offers one feature only, but it's beautiful: It allows you to hit export on any book, published or not, and you then can save it as a word file and keep(or drop) the formatting. You can then hit import with a book and quill, and bam you've got it again. Those pesky Copy of Copy books are finally beaten.
  13. Username: BonesOfTheEarth Discord: BonesOfTheEarth#6969 Skin Reference: You have it over discord! Alex or Steve model: Steve Skin details, if any (the more, the better): A real chad. I mean, just as close as you can get to the art; though the scar on his face there should be larger and a little more faded, more like a very minor discoloration of the skin. Gray eyes.
  14. Any skinners looking to make $$$?

Seems everyone is always booked in their coms discords nowadays and I've been trying to get one skin made by anyone for 2 months now! Very sad :c

  15. Looking for a skinner who can do some solid male elf shit. Will pay in $ cash $

  16. The orc stuff doesn't make sense to me. It feels important that they age a little faster. Being 12-14 and "coming of age" just makes sense for them. I'm not talking about anything ftb related dont care didnt ask not my problem please dont be a creep ty Everything else is 👍 though nice stuff Edit: u forgot snow elves :)
  17. What all does creating a new map entail?

I've seen people pull out a decent looking worldpainted map in something like an hour. I don't imagine the standards of an LOTC map could ever compare to that, but I'm very curious how that turns into a year or more instead of an hour.

The closest reasoning I can think of is pre-built structures taking a while? That would make sense but most pre-built structures never get used in place of new ones put in as-needed. I'm mostly just curious I frankly don't care about this whole 'hurr durr end almaris early' talk

    1. Laeonathan

      Laeonathan

The worldpainting isn't the issue at all. Junar and Florensics did that in 2 Months. Gotta keep in mind, especially Florensics painted on a whole different level. What they prepainted was incredible. My favourite is still the Mesa biome.

But: You need good painters especially if you want more then what for example I can do.

The difference between the 'rough shape' that could be used as a map and what you want is the thing. If you want to create cool high-fantasy landscapes like Junar and Florensics did, it takes weeks and months.

If you have the map painted out perfectly you could hand it to the nations right away, they can do their prebuild and staff works on the structures right away, add the paths etc. Expect prebuild to take 2 months.

      BUT.

The whole planning phase also matters. The community, all the staff teams are also involved. This makes stuff more complicated: Communication. As well as motivation. Just because we could do a new map in 3-4 months in theory, doesn't mean it's likely to happen. You need to find people who consistently work on it. An active leadership. A big enough team.

      So short form:

It's a combination of communication accross timezones with many people, motivation and the actual building process, writing the world lore etc...

From my experience, building ruins and other atmospheric things is what takes up most of the time spent building. When we skip this process it takes MUCH less time to produce, but the world doesn't reward exploration much from the get go.

  21. We can see when people post private bits like this. Of course if I click on it, I get "error: topic not found" or whatever, but say I know who this person is. If I know anything about the individual and who they might have beef with, I could very likely tell exactly who they're reporting and why(Especially, if say, I'm the one being reported). Kind of redundant to have private stuff innit? I'm just using this screenshot as an example. More commonplace occurrences are with magic/creature apps being hidden to reduce metagaming but people can still clearly see one was made. Just a small thing I think should get fixed, thanks for coming to my TED Talk

needs to be a system in place to create some sort of mechanical, expensive value that would accurately represent the costs of these atronach/automaton limbs since nobody can be trusted to roleplay it properly and instead just "makes" them out of thin air.

  23. Someone is following you in roleplay. You ask them to stop stalking you. They continue to follow you. You give them one last warning to back off. They don't say or do anything, and just continue to follow you. You attack them for your own safety. This is on a public road.

Are you the defender, for giving good warning and fighting out of concern for your own personal safety? Or are you the attacker, simply for swinging the first blow?

Edit: In Towns and Cities, stalking is(for the most part) a crime and you would have Defender Default in those cases. On the road, where there is no law, is where I ask.

  24. Any time I've pushed to get a predator banned, the admins - Llir specifically - have always been prompt and fast on it when I finally had what I need to approach them on it. But this is after months of effort on my end in both 2 counts to find hard lined proof. One of them, I can't take much credit for as I simply pushed someone else to step up and they dealt with it, but another I knew of 3 people on the server actively being groomed where 2 of them had confided in me of the case. Showing that to admins was not enough to get this person banned. A recorded video call where one of the victims detailed the whole affair in voice chat was apparently not proof enough to act. To get them banned, I had to get put into contact with someone who quit lotc in 2018 because of this person's abuse, and convince them through their insecurities of the issue to go to their old discord and provide full logs. This whole process to convince one person years gone to talk to the admins took weeks, while this person continued to groom more people - with a large portion of the server aware of the fact. I usually silently watch these posts but mr Treshure you speak to my heart when you say to act on intuition and common sense. Waiting for hard lined proof allowed one predator I know to remain on this server for years(I think around 4) with not a single thing done to stop him, while many people knew what sort of nasty, blackmailing monster he was.
