  1. hello, I saw you in Haense a couple of times doing guard work I recently did some RP with my friend Kaiser where our elves were having a discussion on their royal upbringing and what they believe in. but because they were from basically two different generations of elves, one was older and the other was quite young still, they had a hard time getting along despite having similar ideas with one another and it made for a pretty cool dynamic there's another one from my warlock character. some time at the end of last year I was in charge of one of the covens, but went on a couple month hiatus. when I came back, it was pretty much entirely changed, had new leadership and a bunch of colorful new people who subscribed to ways of thinking and ideologies my character did not, so he and his daughter (who shared his sentiment) declared war on this new coven, albeit partially out of spite that he no longer had a claim over it. it lead to some pretty cool RP, especially considering the leaders of this coven were once his closest friends and family
  2. "This is not a call for Malin'or, this is war propaganda as it is a recruitment post for the alliance of a small company of elven mercenaries and the new Rexdom. His claim to the Malin'or title is completely unrelated and has no bearing on the implications of this missive." An elf of the Ilmurin Vanguard tells Glynfir in passing.
  3. petty theft sucks rn and is probably one of the most unenjoyable and uninteractive types of "RP" to receive on the server, so you can't even really blame people for wanting better ways to defend against the 2am dollar-store bandits who smash ur windows and leave signs everywhere. people do /smash on windows they can't even parkour into just to be annoying. if petty theft had more of an interaction dynamic then I'd be more forthcoming to making it easier to break into places, so for now I vote for iron door equivalent on both types of doors and yeah I understand that generally people aren't going to be breaking into places that are known to have people inside, but the issue is that it provides 0 RP in most cases other than an annoying window to fix. if you're an outlier and you actually use petty theft for a reason, that's great, but most people do not. would love if petty theft was reworked to be more RP friendly

  5. On this day four years ago, the honored Luraki people declared WAR upon the Vikelan blight in response to their wanton desecration of the southern rainforest in the name of their nobody-noblemen and walls that protect mere grassland and withered fields. Not long after, an elvish company known as the Ilmurin Vanguard would join the orcish warband at the behest of Autarch Daahd’Lur. At first, it was a modest promise of territorial acquisition in exchange for our arms, a reluctant pact to spill blood with those who were known to spill ours in bygone days. It was a contemptuous accord between our peoples, one we pursued by way of a common enemy. Reluctance grew into tolerance, and from tolerance bloomed kinship. The elvish and orcish companies aimed their blades not towards one another, but towards the Vikelan Queendom. They came to depend on one another in a way unprecedented and unseen for many decades, and it was no longer a pact of begrudging tolerance, but of trust and respect. Now, the Ilmurin Vanguard and Rexdom of Lurak stand unwavering alongside one another in reverence. While the Vanguard pursues a kingdom by which Elvendom can be found, the Rexdom seeks to rekindle the culture and spirit of their fractured people, and it’s in this unity that an age of prosperity can be had for the descendants of Malin and Krug. JOIN THE FIGHT. Signed, Galahad Nullivari Prince of Malin'or, Commander of the Ilmurin Vanguard

  8. TO THE SYLVAN DUCHY OF BRABANT 12th of Malin's Welcome, year 188 S.A. To Ser Sterling Whitewood, Duke of Brabant, In light of our successful advances upon the Vikelan jungles, and consequently the ivory woods familiar to your people, it's only appropriate that audience is shared between our realms as to discuss the relations thereof. We shall meet in neutral territory, the southern desert, where your safe passage shall be promised and guaranteed. Write to my envoy that we may discuss a day and place to speak. Signed, Galahad Nullivari Prince of Malin'or, Commander of the Ilmurin Vanguard
  9. my take on cleric healing is that they should only be able to heal wounds inflicted by darkspawn (be it via magic, enchantments, summons, etc). it helps define tah's niche as one of purity instead of being a "jack of all trades" of healing RP, and also contributes to the idea that there are certain magics that are more useful than others or more needed in certain environments than others. if every magic on the server could do the exact same thing, then it'd be pretty boring is what I'm getting at

  11. I enjoy this passage especially because ironically it feels like it invokes a more realistic reaction to "danger" on lotc than you see from ppl in most encounters. more often than not people have spectator syndrome whenever danger, combat, or some other form of conflict arises, and lycans having the option to engage or flee forces the player to be proactive in their RP instead of passive skyrim NPCs watching the brawl in silence
  12. hello I've been asked this a couple times in the past so I just thought I'd explain how I upload mine because I'm not a gatekeeper and I enjoy looking at cool forum profile pictures there might be an easier way to do this but this is just how I do it myself. it's pretty simple step 1: find your image I get most if not all of mine from pinterest. there's a lot of really cool artwork on there that I recommend checking out. if you use pinterest and want to get a higher quality version of the picture, right click on it and hit "open in new tab" before downloading as a png, jpeg, etc. you can also go directly to the website attached to the image caption as well step 2: convert to .gif file images need to be converted to a .gif file before being uploaded to your forum profile. it's super easy, there's a lot of free websites you can use for this, but I find that GIPHY works the best. if you use GIPHY, you may need to add some kind of visual effect to it in order to be able to upload/download it as a .gif file. but if you don't want any effects visible, you can just select something like an animated sticker and make it small enough or drag it out of the image entirely to make it unnoticeable. like this ezgif is another one that I've used in the past. this one doesnt require you to add a motion effect and simply converts your files to .gifs, but sometimes doesn't work when trying to upload to the forums? not really sure why. use as needed I suppose, sometimes its a bit of trial and error. link below step 3: upload to your forum profile once you have your .gif file made and downloaded, just upload it to your forum profile. make sure you crop it as needed by dragging it to the top left or right corners tl;dr just convert to a gif file. congrats, you can now ratio people on the forums with style

  16. Galahad Nullivari soon issues a missive of his own shortly after the Vikelan Magistrate. I recall a time when my ethics were tested. I was younger than I am now, a boy who hadn't yet stained his blade and tried his might. Though it was not I who suffered bodily scars that night it happened, I remember it more than I'd like to. That night, I pondered the dichotomy between the bond I shared with my kin, and the blood I shed with my family. Now, I stand on the cusp of hallelujah, something daring and promised and close, like a ship you can see cresting the horizon. But I'm reminded that these upbringings are ill-had without consequence. My people, as is their wont and right, question the ethics of this war. Their inquiries are not born from disapproval or treachery, but the need to understand. It's in our nature to ponder and surmise. In contrast, your questioning is not one of philosophical exercise, nor one I can easily dismiss. You question out of sun-blistering hatred and visceral fear. I understand. It would be cruel and dishonest of me to ask that you do not weep for the displacement of your people. Yet, I find there are parallels to be drawn between what was said by my people, and the Vikelans who fail to comprehend the essence of this war and instead deny reality. That night, as we sat bundled around a little bonfire in the north, it was asked: Are trees truly a thing worth waging war for? Wars have been waged for less. It's a question both sides of the war have and will ask, yet the answers are like night and day. Orcish theology is no such thing to discredit as you do, lest you further discredit yourselves as atheistic heathens who once cried for the protection of the Canonists. You may do that, or choose to be a people with even a semblance of principles. So, which are you? Galahad Nullivari
  17. "Will they ever surrender?" softly wonders Galahad. "These situations beg the question, whether it is brave or foolish not to. Knowing the ideals of the Vikelans, I'd suppose it's the latter. They're like a peacock who pretends to be something proud, something worth admiring. But we know better. They do not."
  18. this is exactly what I was thinking. making it so you need an rp "reason" to suspect a place of having a hidden door means the only way you'd be able to know of one is by hoping someone from that place willingly tells you, or tell someone else who would tell you, in RP. your ability to discover is contingent on the people you're trying to pursue. it's why I disagree with people having been given infracs in the past due to correctly suspecting an area had a hidden door by right-clicking until they found one, because that was somehow "metagaming" despite it being possible to discover one by accident or without knowing of it OOCly prior. hidden doors arent secret contraptions in-RP, they aren't knowledge locked, everybody knows they're commonly used, and if people use that common sense factor to discover one despite not being directly told of its existence, what's the issue?
  19. I voted for the wrong option but this is exactly what I was thinking. making wood and iron doors have 0 mechanical difference doesn't affect anything other than visuals, and it'd be nice to be able to actually use wooden door varieties as for redstone doors, I've always been of the opinion that they're extremely unbalanced and that they aren't even necessary for creating secret entrances. encouraging people to default to vanilla MC "secret doors" not only requires 0 tech work, it encourages creativity, and would be infinitely more balanced than what we have right now. and even people who have legitimately discovered hidden doors by right clicking until they find something have gotten in trouble in the past, meaning the only way to discover one is by being told of it in RP. which, good ******* luck lol. otherwise xarkly made a good post on this so I'd just be parroting everything he said key and hopper locks 100% need to go though alternatively why can't we just put a limit on how many redstone entrances regions can have?
  20. inferi are definitely a piece of lore that's needed some love, glad to see this out. hopefully this will make them more interesting to both engage with and play as a CA, as I think they have a lot of potential for storytelling that just unfortunately got neglected and nobody really had the energy to tackle
  21. I think this should be clarified/reworded to specify that while it can't stunlock, it can certainly halt any oncoming attacks. if I'm able to get a malflame spell off and actually hit someone trying to chase/attack me, they shouldn't be able to continue chasing me, their immediate move should be to try to put it out or run to the nearest water source. otherwise what's the point of malflame being regarded as the soul-burning, worse-than-fire magic?
  22. most people upload their image into discord and paste the discord link, works fine for me. if that doesnt work u might have to reach out to forum tech
