THE BURNING OF THE LILACS; And Planting of the Marigolds Issued by THE WEISS HOUSEHOLD Naf zwy 14th hag i Tov ag Yermey i 516 E.S. [A depiction of the newly planted Marigolds within the Weiss Keep.] With the disappearance of the Viscount Walter Weiss, a challenge is set forth from his heir, the Lady Ofeliya Weiss. "I have told you some years ago that I will challenge you when I see that your blade has dulled. I have asked you, even, after what I’d overheard in the square before the Voidal attack if you needed assistance. And still, you have left. Come back to your family within two Saints days, father, or I will sit upon the ivory throne within Novkurskain." As I pen this missive, the lilacs that are so beloved to you, burn within our courtyard. Flames lick up their stems, being directed in a way that only these flowers alone, burn and burn well. I will have no more of ill luck for the House of Weiss, and marigolds shall take their place. Should you wish to find all in tact, as I systematically change our keep and for the better, come back and sit upon the Ivory throne. Until then, this is my Pride, Lord Walter Weiss. Signed, The Honorable, Ofeliya Fabienne Weiss, Viscountess of Novkursain, Baroness of Zvaervauld, Curator of the Crowns Jewels of the Esrova Court
  3. THE LION’S CUB Issued by The Weiss Household ON THIS 2ND DAY OF GRONNA AG DROBA OF 516 E.S. The Lion’s Pride expands. It was upon the wee hours of the morning within the Staalgrav keep, that the hustling of a harried Valet, Grayson Marshall had soon woke those of the Viscounty. He had made way down to the servants quarters with a clipped pace, ringing a bell that awoke those there. The servantry of the Weiss household, a well-oiled machine, worked prim, punctual and without mistakes. Water soon began to boil, fresh towels were brought to the heiress tower and a sound unheard heard previously keened throughout the keep. Wailing. As the blazing, yellow sun rose overhead, one of the four symbols of the Weiss household shown true - showcasing the majesty of the moment and the righteousness of the heir of the heir born. A wee babe, no more than five pounds, swaddled within Weiss blue blankets. He held his mothers olive eyes, hosting a full head of hair and a pair of lungs that he certainly got from his father. Mother and father peered upon their heir, their child, and gave him a name amidst joyous and exhausted family and friends alike. “Karl Varon Christopher Weiss.” @CasChaos --- It is rumored that the Viscountess, and newly made grandmother, banished anything of perceived ill-luck from the room. Lilacs, primarily, amongst what was removed. One would think Marian to be a general of war, as she commanded the servantry and those of the household with such fluidity. Many of the Weiss, especially the new parents, were not seen for many days - held up within the keep as the roaring of the Lion’s Pride echoed through Staalgravs halls. The Viscount Walter leading the charge amongst them in the celebrations. The child was welcomed into this world amidst much fanfare, a baptism then held, officially welcoming the Lion’s Cub into the pride. Signed, Her Ladyship, Ofeliya Fabienne Weiss, Heiress to the Viscounty of Novkursain His Lordship, Christopher Fabian Weiss
  4. Viktoria af Brasca gaze fell over the missive. She knew deep down, when she left, that he may go for the girl. A sigh left the woman, but she found she wasn't as troubled as she expected to be. Her gaze fell upon her husband, Sir Gaspard, and a smile formed - watching as he tilled the fields of the home they claimed in their self-imposed exile. The missive is folded, and tucked neatly away. Afterwards, she joins him outside with a freshly made drink for both - urging him to come inside for a break. @M1919
  5. Renata Alba, the infamous and only Infanta of Hyspia would often find herself peeking into the young Princes room. She was curious, that was for certain. Her face would stretch out, and she'd poke at her cheeks, making faces for her cousin to see. If anyone were to ask her what she's doing, she'd run off!
  6. Renata peered up towards her father, sensing that he seemed different. She couldn't put her finger o the how or why of it, she was but a child - but her arms extended out, fingers curling against fabric as she called to him. "Padre!" It was her usual request, to be picked up and set upon his shoulders, of which she ca see the world from greater heights. Once picked up, she takes in the dazzling sights before pressing a big kiss against his cheek. "Te amo, Padre!"

  8. THE LION’S UNION Issued by The Weiss Household ON THIS 16TH DAY OF Jula AG Piov OF 515 E.S. Ar A depiction of Ofeliya Fabienne Weiss and Christopher Fabian Galbraith. Trials and tribulations pocket throughout anyone’s life, proven so with those born into the ongoing war. Strife, it bled and bleeds still throughout the cobbled pathways and alleyways of the couple's respective nations - and yet, amongst it all, they found each other. A simple greeting in the tavern turned a stolen day at Lotusgrad, the duo having rowed across the finish line through crystal blue waters. Their laughter rung free, and they grew closer, finding comfort in each other's company. From laughter brewed camaraderie, and the trials of war became trials of courtship. It was hard, difficult, but when was anything anyone ever wanted in life easy? Challenge offered and challenge met. It is with this, that the Weiss household announces their heiress Lady Ofeliya Fabienne Weiss impending nuptials to the Lord Christopher Fabian Galbraith The wedding will take place within the Edvardian Basilica within the Kingdom of Hanseti-Ruska, to be followed by drinks within the tavern. 9. Ofeliya Weiss soon heard the news of her cousin. She'd spoken to her a few times, and has begun to grow fond of her - she'd been so busy too, she wished she wasn't. She should of went to the sleepover.. She never got to give her the promised pink sapphire necklace either. Another person taken so soon from the world. When would it end?
  10. "Oh, Vicente, maravillosa!" The woman placed a kiss against his bearded cheek, as their three children ran rampant about. "You deserve it, mi amor."
  11. Ofeliya Weiss listened to her sisters song, and later when upon her lonesome in the keep, she too sang it. Such a beautiful song!

  14. THE ABDICATION OF BRASCA Issued by THE BARONY OF BRASCA It is with a clear conscience that I, Viktoria Helena af Brasca, declare my abdication of my title as Baroness of Brasca to my eldest son and heir, Jan Gaspard af Brasca. Years have passed, and amidst the turmoils of war, the time has come for my progeny to grasp the horns of the bull for themselves and step forth onto their paths, in either which way it takes them. Remember your history, my children. And make history anew. Signed, Lady Viktoria Helena af Brasca
  15. Ofeliya Weiss gave a general courtesy read of the missive, pausing heavily upon the first mention of gemstones. She was lost, then, having an entirely new aspect of gems to study into and made a mental note to change out what jewelry she wore frequently so she did not imbalance her humors!
  16. Renata Alba, newly-born Infanta of Hyspia wailed and wailed . . . and wailed. She was none too happy being awoken from her slumber, cheeks flushed and tears never-ending. The child will certainly offer her parents no quarter!
  17. THE HEIR TO BRASCA Issued by THE BARONY OF BRASCA Fifteen years ago, under the reign of the late Baron George and Viktoria af Brasca, the Barony of Brasca witnessed the joyous arrival of their first children. It was a time of celebration, and amidst the festivities, a decision was made. The heirship of the household would be of a meritorious nature, to be determined when the youngest reached the age of fourteen. Today, the Barony of Brasca takes pride in announcing the heir to their household and all that it encompasses: His Lordship, Jan Gaspard af Brasca @TheHunter38 In the fifteen years since his birtth, Jan has grown into a young man of promise. By no means has he been perfect, facing many challenges along the way but he has demonstrated a commitment to change, the upkeep of his family and a genuine care for his household. We look forward to the continued growth and success of Jan, to see where he may succeed and fail alike in the tasks forth, as he goes on to carry forward the esteemed legacy of the Barony of Brasca. Signed, The Honorable, Viktoria Helena af Brasca, Baroness of Brasca, Castellan of the Courts of Winburgh
  18. Viktoria af Brasca writes down the Hungry Hungry recipe to use for later, though she may modify it as needed. At least she finally knew a recipe approved by her allies that she can provide when they visit in Veletz!
  19. The Lady Brasca enjoys Sir Gaspards speech immensely as she often did! "Run e run, but who will save vy now?" Viktoria produced a newly made blade, proffering it to her eldest son. "Moy make them pay, Jan. E then moy celebrate."

A STUDY INTO HAENSETI JEWELRY MEANINGS THROUGHOUT THE AGES: Bejeweling Kokoshniks Issued by Lady Ofeliya of House Weiss Naf zwy 4th hag i Gronna ag Drova i 510 E.S. [A depiction of the classic ladies Kokoshnik.] Over the ages of our Kingdom, the courts under each Queen have drafted and published their missives. This study that I am writing looks into these published missives, and more specifically, the ones on Haenseti jewelry, its meaning and its restrictions throughout our class system. In studying this, I have found contradictions and parts that coincide alike but I am proud to say that a majority of it coincides, and builds upon the previous missive, even many years apart. With thanks to the Royal Courts Compendium, it has allowed me to gather much of my research material which will be tacked onto this for reference as to my work. To start with in my paper today, we look at the first missive under Her Royal Majesty, Queen Annika, ‘Haeseni Culture: The Resurgence of Ruskan Fashion’. It speaks on Kokoshniks being worn by all classes, and gemstones representing the status of the wearer. Pearls, in particular, are specifically mentioned in that only Royalty and upper-ranking Nobility may have them on their kokoshnik. Expensive jewels will be seen upon the royal and upper-nobilities kokoshniks, with fabric kokoshniks being reserved for the lower nobility and commoners. Interestingly enough, to wear a kokoshnik outside of your status, whether a commoner donning an extravagant kokoshnik or a royal wearing a fabric one - it is seen as disrespectful and degrading to one's status. In another missive, written by Her Royal Majesty, Queen Emma, ‘Moda i ve Kort: Kokoshniks’, it speaks further on kokoshniks. Much like above, pearls and status are specified but rather than simply allowing the upper-nobility to don pearl kokoshniks, they are not allowed to unless they pick a lesser metal to use with it. It speaks further upon veiled kokoshniks being disallowed for Countesses and lower nobility, though allowing Countesses to attach beads to hers so as to differentiate her status. Special rights are afforded to heirloom kokoshniks and a Dowager's kokoshnik, in which heirloom kokoshniks can be worn during appropriate occasions, even if not befitting of one's status. A Dowager must go back to their old style of kokoshnik, by way of status, but are granted a string of pearls to don upon it. Though, it is best to keep in mind not to don a kokoshnik when in mourning, as is outlined in Her Royal Majesty, Queen Amadea’s missive, ‘Moda i ve Kort: Mourning’. Regardless of one’s status, kokoshniks are seen as extremely inappropriate when in mourning. As seen in these varying missives, status and etiquette is everything in the world of kokoshniks. From the very fabric and embroidery you may use, to the gems and how many may be had under what status, it showcases the culture and background of the Haensetis kokoshniks overtime. --- In conclusion, I would like to thank my Mamej for looking this over when I was done and helping me with the bigger words used. I love you a ton! [!] Attached below are the missives as referenced in order. A STUDY INTO HAENSETI JEWELRY MEANINGS THROUGHOUT THE AGES: Amethyst and Pearls Issued by Lady Ofeliya of House Weiss Naf zwy 10th hag i Gronna ag Drova i 509 E.S. [A depiction of the young Lady Weiss and her studies.] Over the ages of our Kingdom, the courts under each Queen have drafted and published their missives. To start with in my paper today, we look at two previously written missives, the earlier missive written under Her Royal Majesty, Queen Emma's reign, ‘Moda i ve Kort: Gemstones’. It touches on gemstones and their respective symbolism in the courts of Haense, speaking on varying jewels that have not been touched upon further in newer missives. What I am most interested in is the jewels that have been touched on since. Our first gemstone is the amethyst, in Her Majesty's missive, it speaks on it not being common within the nobility of Haense and instead being used more primarily by scholars and scientists as a symbol of their work and devotion to scholarly arts. Touching further upon this, it speaks of the stone being known for bringing clarity and wisdom alike. In the second missive, published under Her Royal Majesty, Queen Amaya's reign, ‘The Haeseni Birthstones’, it touches on the birthstones linked to the Haeseni Zodiacs and on their meanings. Once again, we see scholarly work upon the amethyst gemstone. There are aspects to this that coincide with the previously touched on missive, and contradict alike, showing how the viewing of jewels and gemstones in Haenseti life can change overtime. In this instance, as opposed to amethysts previously, it speaks of it being associated with nobility and royalty alike. Self-sacrifice and the willingness to do something for others at the cost of their own health is touched on quite heavily, but as add-on to the wisdom and knowledge spoken of in the previous missive. Pearls throughout the ages of our Kingdom have a history of contradictions, while in parts coinciding with previous missives but the one thing to stay the same throughout the passing of time is the importance of them. In Her Royal Majestys, Queen Emma's missive touched on previously, it seems to be the time in which the usage of pearls was most prevalent. It speaks on Haenseni freshwater pearls in particular, which were in abundance during that time and thus led to them being a staple in the courts. Men and women both added pearls to clothing and jewelry, and it speaks of how it is improper for a Lady to add them to her Kokoshnik. Adding further to the cultural value, one might note that widows were known to don pearls on their wrists or necks. In a second missive by Her Royal Majesty, Queen Emma, ‘Moda i ve Kort: Koenas Brooches’, it shows that continued staple of freshwater pearls and their use. The amount of pearls varied by the ranks, from a string of three pearls donned upon the Queens broach herself in the lower-left hand corner to lesser amounts of one such pearl upon a brooch. Most interesting is the positioning of the pearls holding their own meanings, if you are to look at the provided depictions, you will find that the Queen, and those of her councils brooches pearls all dangled from the lower left-hand corner as a means of identifying who is who. The amount of pearls and where the pearls sat showcased how high you sat upon Her Majesty's council. Should you have been honored with the Queen's commendation, though, it is on the opposite side entirely - the lower right-hand corner, just another aspect showcasing the importance of pearls in that time. What I find most fascinating is the contradiction in Her Royal Majesty, Queen Amaya's writings, though I have since come to believe that as this touches on oceanic pearls - the different pearl types have different meanings of their own. As opposed to freshwater pearls associated with the meaning of loss, the oceanic pearls take on the meaning of wisdom and serenity. It goes on to further speak on how the oceanic pearls compare to the offering of sacrifices by sailors seeking favor throughout history, going on to be treasured as symbols of protection and being blessed by the sea. In another missive, published by Her Royal Majesty, Queen Amadea, ‘Moda i ve Kort: Mourning’, it keeps with Queen Emma's missive that pearls are associated with mourning. A type of pearl is not mentioned in this, instead writing on pearls - presumably but not known for fact freshwater pearls, are the gem of death and class. They are seen as a relevant style of gem that can be worn during mourning, other than the Hussariyan or Lorraine cross or jewelry of the now deceased. The only difference in missives is that this touches not only on the widow being able to don pearls in mourning, but men and women alike, as they share similar mourning etiquette. --- In conclusion, I would like to thank my Mamej for looking this over when I was done and helping me with the bigger words used. I love you a ton! [!] Attached below are the missives in the order referred to. 22. Sofia of Hyspia had soon learned the news of her dearly departed sister. She was the last of the four born to her parents, though she was sure her time would come soon enough. Amidst her grief of losing the only sibling she had come to love dearly, she buried herself in many a wine from her collection. The Dowager kept to her quarters, the only sounds being that of another bottle ordered to her.
  23. The Lady Brasca thought of a conversation she had with Sir Baldwin not too long ago. It consisted of fields and crops, plans for the future and how the blood and matter of those lost will allow it to grow better then ever. Cold fingers clasped over a gift he'd given her after the last field battle, a bloodied spyglass. "Blood will litter w fields, Comrade."
