Constitutes both provinces or colonies. The Grand Duke (or Duchess): The head of state of the Grand Duchy of Balian. The Crown: The sovereign of the Grand Duchy of Balian., which controls the Brotherhood of Balian and the Balian Peerage and rules under the direction and advice of the Ducal Chamber . When a person decides to violently attack another member of the public, causing no lasting injuries, and does not wield a weapon to inflict such damage. This may be punished with a 50-150 mina fine, depending on issues caused. B. When a person decides to violently attack another member of the public, causing lasting injuries, but not permanent and/or does wield a weapon to inflict damage. This may be punished with a 250-400 mina or the removal of a hand, depending on issues caused. C. When a person decides to violently attack another member of the public, causing permanent injuries,. This may be punished with a 750-1250 mina, 5-10 years of exile or removal of both hands depending on issues caused. BL.01.02 - On Manslaughter A. When a person unintentionally kills another person, be this in anger, by coincidence or otherwise. A lack of intent must be proven indefinitely, as judged by the Kritai. This may be punished with a 600-750 mina fine, decided by the discretion of a Kritai BL.01.03 - On Murder A. When a person intentionally kills another person, without the premediation of it. It would require proof or reasoning that there was no premeditation, which a Kritai would judge. This may be punished with a 1250-1800 mina fine, a 20 year to indefinite exile or removal of a limb. B. When a person intentionally kills another person, with premeditation of it. A Kritai will judge whether they believe it was premeditated or not. This may only be punished with death. BL.01.04 - On Mutilation A. When a person removes a body part short of a limb, organ or eye, or causes other permanent damage, with intention. This will be punished with the equivalent mutilation or a 300-500 mina fine. B. When a person removes a limb, organ or eye, causing permanent damage, with intention. This will be punished with a 1000-1750 mina fee, 10-30 year exile or equivalent mutilation, decided with the Kritai’s discretion. BL.01.05 - On Kidnapping A.When a person without legal reasoning, takes another person and confines them against their will. This will be punished with a 750-1000 mina fine, exile for 5-10 years, decided with the Kritai’s discretion BL.01.06 - On Defamation A. When a person would distribute false information about someone else, without the intent to damage their reputation. This will be punished with a 50-150 mina fine. B. When a person would distribute false information about someone else, with the intent to damage their reputation. This will be punished with a 500-750 mina fine. BL.01.07 - On Impersonation A.When a person assumes the identity of another person, without a reasonable excuse or a prior agreement between the two people. It will be punished with a 100-200 mina fee. B. When a person assumes the identity of a peer, soldier, government or public official, without a reasonable excuse or a prior agreement between the two people. It will be punished with a 400-500 mina fee. BL.01.08 - On Torture A.When a person inflicts injury on another while they have captured them. To do this within legal bounds, one must have the expressed permission of The Magister of The Grand Duchy of Balian. This may also be done when concerning an enemy of the state. This will be punished with a 650-750 mina punishment BL.01.09 - On Malpractice A.When a medical practitioner neglects the care of a person in need of medical care, be this refusal of treatment, failing to adhere to medical procedure or otherwise. This will be punished with temporary or permanent revoking of medical licence and a 300-1000 mina fine, dependant on the severity of the case. BL.01.10 - On Theft A.When a person steals the property of another, of the value of up to 400 mina. This will be punished with the returning of the property and a 200-350 mina fine or, if the return of the property is not possible, a 400-500 mina fine or 2-5 year exile. B. When a person steals the property of another, of the value of over 400 mina. This will be punished with the returning of the property and a 600-750 mina fine or, if the return of the property is not possible, a 800-1100 mina fine or 5-10 year exile. BL.01.11 - On Breaking and entering A.When a person makes their way into another person's property without expressed permission, this includes a search of a property without a search warrant. This will be punished with a 200-350 mina fine and temporary suspension from one's force, should it be necessary. BL.01.12 - On Forgery A.When a person intentionally fakes a legal document that they are aware they are legally not allowed to. This will result in barring from public office for 5-10 years and a 100-200 mina fine. BL.01.13 - On Vandalism A.When a person intentionally damages or defaces property that is not their own and is not a government building.. This will be punished with a 100-200 mina fine. B. When a person intentionally damages or defaces property that is not their own and is a government building.. This will be punished with a 500-600 mina fine and exile for 2-5 years. BL.01.14 - On Arson A.When a person intentionally utilises fire to damage or destroy a property that is not their own and is not a government building. This will be punished with a 400-500 mina fine. B. When a person intentionally utilises fire to damage or destroy a property that is not their own and is a government building.. This will be punished with a 1000-1200 mina fine and exile for 20 years up to indefinite. BL.01.15 - On Trespassing A. When a person refuses to leave a property they have been asked to leave, or goes to one in which they have been barred. This will be punished with a 200-300 mina fine. BL.01.16 - On Debt A.When a person fails to resolve a debt to another person, be it small, moderate or significant. This should be brought to The Magister or a Kritai by the victim, and they will render a verdict depending on the facts of the case. BL.01.17 - On Treason A.When a person intentionally commits acts that are intended to compromise the integrity of the state and its government through insurrectionist movements and attacks. This crime will only ever be punished with execution. BL.01.18 - On Sedition A.When a person intentionally distributes information or media, or speaks in a way that brings contempt against the state and its government, in a means to diminish its influence. This crime will only ever be punished with execution. BL.01.19 - On Contraband A.When a person possesses any illegal substances, materials or literature. This will be punished with the removal of such things and a 100-250 mina fine. B. When a person distributes or sells any illegal substances, materials or literature. This will be punished with the removal of such things and a 400-500 mina fine. C. When a person manufactures any illegal substances, materials or literature. This will be punished with the removal of such things and a 800-1200 mina fine. BL.01.20 - On Obstruction A.When a person obstructs or interferes with the arrest, investigation or prosecution of a criminal. This will be punished with a 200-300 mina fine. BL.01.21 - On Absconding A.When a person refuses to surrender themselves to arresting officers or does not turn up to an appointed court date when told to. Anyone who commits this, will be found guilty of the crime they committed. BL.01.22 - On Bribery A.When a person uses money, land or any form of a material gift to persuade a public official, army member, Kritai, Trobonian Quaestor, government official or anyone considered to have power, to conform to their influence. This will be punished with a 400-500 mina fine and barring from public office for 5 years. B. When a public official, army member, Kritai, Trobonian Quaestor, government official or anyone considered to have power, accepts money, land or any form of a material gift to conform to another person’s influence. This will be punished with immediate dismissal from office, barring from public office for 10 years and 750-1000 mina fine. BL.01.23 - On Extortion A.When a person obtains material goods, money, land, titles or influence, through the use of threat or force. This will be punished with a 400-500 mina fine. BL.01.24 - On Perjury A.When a person deliberately lies or withholds important information from an interrogating Tribonian Quaestor or officer of the Brotherhood of Balian throughout the course of any non-treason related crime. This will be punished with a 100-1000 mina fee, decided based on the crime that the interrogation concerned. B. When a person deliberately lies or withholds important information from an interrogating Tribonian Quaestor throughout the course of a treason related crime. This will be punished with a permanent exile or execution. BL.01.25 - On Embezzlement A.When a government official intentionally uses government money or materials for their own personal gains, outside of their office. This will be punished with dismissal from office, permanent barring for public office and a 1000-3000 mina fine depending on the severity of the crime. BL.01.26 - On Unauthorised Military Organisations A.When an individual is part of a private and unauthorised military organisation. This will be punished with a 400-450 mina fine. B.When an individual leads and/or founded a private and unauthorised military organisation. This will be punished with a 1000-1500 mina fine. BL.01.27 - On Duelling A.A duel may only occur as an honour duel between nobles, where they settle personal disputes in this manner. The Magister or Grand Druke must authorise such before it can take place. If this doesn’t occur it will be treated as any other crime. BL.01.28 - On Blasphemy A.When a person speaks in a sacrilegious manner about God or the teachings of the scriptures. This will be punished with a 400-500 mina fine and/or 1-2 years exile. BL.01.29 - On Heresy A.When a person intentionally teaches others about the teachings of a false deity. This will be punished with a 750-900 mina fine and/or a 5-10 year exile. BL.01.30 - On Devilry A.When a person preaches for, worships or partakes in rituals of devils and demons and other devilish faiths. This will be punished with a 1000-2000 mina fine, 20 years to indefinite exile or death. BL.01.31 - On Witchcraft A. When a person partakes in magery that would be considered evil and/or dark by any sane person. This will be punished with exile for 20 years to indefinite, execution or a 1000-1500 mina fine. BL.01.32 - On Fornication A.When an unmarried person fornicates with someone else. This will be punished with a 400-500 mina fine. BL.01.33 - On Adultery A.When a married person fornicates with someone other than their spouse. This will be punished with a 700-900 mina fine. BL.01.34 - On Consanguinity A.When a person fornicates or fosters a romantic relationship with someone closely related to them, such as parents, siblings, aunts, uncles etc. This will be punished with a 600-750 mina fine and exile for 2-5 years. BL.01.35 - On Miscegenation A.When a person fornicates with someone who is not the same race as themselves, such as a human and elf, or orc and dwarf. This will be punished with a 800-1000 mina fine and exile for 5-10 years. BL.01.36 - On Concealment of Identity A.When a person hides their face to a Brotherhood of Balian soldier or Tribonian Quaestor when they were asked to remove it. This will be punished with a 150-200 mina fine. BL.01.37 - On Vigilantism A.When a person, who is not part of the Brotherhood of Balian nor a Tribonian Quaestor attempts to apprehend a criminal or carry out their own justice. This will be punished with a 300-400 mina fine. BL.01.38 - On Disturbing the Peace A.When a person causes problems and an uproar that affects the common peace of the state. This will be punished with a 200-300 mina fine. BL.01.39 - On Harmed Sovereignty A.When a person commits any level of assault on the Grand Duke or any of their Ducal family. This will be considered treason and punished with only execution. BL.01.40 - On Conspiracy A.When a person works with someone else and plans to commit a crime. This will be punished the same way the crime that was conspired. BL.01.41 - On Incitement A.When a person encourages another or incites them into committing a crime. This will be punished the same way the crime that was incited. BL.01.42 - On Attempt A.When a person attempts, but fails to commit a crime. This will be punished the same way as the crime that was attempted. BL.01.43 - On The Draconic A.When a person is considered to be Azdrazi or in any other way draconic. This will be punished with immediate death, a trial is not required when it is obvious that a person is draconic. BL.01.44 - On Minors A.When a person is under the age of 12, they will not be prosecuted for any crime at all. B. A person under the age of 16 will not be able to consume alcohol, and those that procure them alcohol will receive a 100 mina fine. BL.01.45 - On Discrimination A.When a person uses another’s race as justification for violence, theft or anything else that may be seen as an attack on them. This will be punished with a 100-150 mina fine. B.When a person uses another’s religion as justification for violence, theft or anything else that may be seen as an attack on them. This will be punished with a 100-150 mina fine. C.When a person uses another’s gender as justification for violence, theft or anything else that may be seen as an attack on them. This will be punished with a 100-150 mina fine. D.When a person uses another’s sexuality as justification for violence, theft or anything else that may be seen as an attack on them. This will be punished with a 100-150 mina fine. BL.01.46 - On Religious Rights A.Any person in Balian may practice their own religion, however as stated in BL.01.28, they may not preach it to others. BL.01.47 - On Bee Protection A.When a person kills a bee with intent. This will be punished with a 50 mina fine. BL.01.48 - On Civil Offences A.When a person causes physical damage to another. The punishment for this will be decided in court, but may not exceed the cost of the damage caused. B. When a person causes financial damage to another. The punishment for this will be decided in court, but may not exceed the cost of the damage caused. C. When a person causes social damage to another’s reputation. The punishment for this will be decided in court, but may not exceed the cost of the damage caused. BL.01.49 - On Undead A.When a person is found not to be truly alive and having lived passed death. The punishment for this will be execution by removal of the head. SECTION II - Court Procedure BL.02.01 - On Summoning the Court I.The Tribonian Quaestor on the case, or claimant of a civil case, will send a letter to the Magister or make them aware of the case and their intent to pursue it legally. II. The Magister will review the letter and either approve or deny the case. III. If approved, the Magister will nominate a Kritai to oversee the trial and letters will be sent to all involved with the case at hand in order to summon them to court. BL.02.02 - On Trial upon Arrest I.Should it be deemed necessary, a recently arrested criminal may be immediately taken to court for a trial. II. This should be approved by The Magister or The Supreme Kritai before occurring, but if necessary, can be skipped over. III. Any available Kritai will oversee this case and any Tribonian Quaestor will prosecute, after being given the information. BL.02.02 - On Legal Procedure I.At the start of a trial, all shall rise for the Kritai before they take a seat, officially beginning court. II. The prosecution will make an opening statement summing up their side of the case within a paragraph, followed by the defendant also making an opening statement summing up their side of the case within a paragraph. III. The prosecution will then make 1-3 points, using evidence as a point of proof for their case. They should keep their points concise and to the point less they be cut off by the Kritai, should they believe it necessary. IV. The defence will then make their own 1-3 points, using their own evidence, or rebuttal any points made by the prosecution. They also should keep their points concise, less they be cut off by the Kritai. V. Both sides will then make their closing statements, which should again be paragraph sized, the prosecution first and then the defence. VI. The Judge will finally render a verdict after hearing both closing statements, and then the punishment will be carried out by the Brotherhood of Balian. VII. Objections are not to be allowed under any circumstances, as the Kritai will take into account anything they believe to be untoward. VIII. All trials should be documented for future reference by a scribe. BL.02.03 - On Fines I.A fine may be given out by a NCO of the Brotherhood of Balian or above, or a Kritai on the spot, as long as the crime committed warrants a fine of under 500 mina. II. All fines must be given to The Magister, who will subsequently hand the money over to The Procurator. III. If unable to pay the fine, a person will receive either an exile or physical punishment, as decided by a Kritai. BL.02.04 - On Physical punishment. I.A crime may be punished with a physical punishment e.g. removal of a hand. If this is decided upon, then said punishment will be carried out in a humane manner. II. The body part will be removed with a swift swing of a blade, it will then immediately be cauterised by fire, or any other medical procedure should a doctor be present to administer it. BL.02.05 - On Exiles. I.If a person is punished with exile, they will be given a Saint’s day to remove their belongings from the city before they are placed in exile. II. Following this a sketch should be made of the person. This sketch and their name will be posted in the gatehouse, for any guard to see should the person try to return. III. Should they return before their exile is over, they may be subject to further punishment, should it be a longer exile, fine or physical punishment. IV. Exile may be appealed, if this is the case, the person punished should send a letter to The Magister, who will then review the case and determine the course of action from there. V. A letter shall be sent to the exilee once their period of exile is over, notifying them that they are free to return should they please. BL.02.06 - On Death Sentences. I.Should a person be sentenced to death, their death will be dealt with in a humane manner. II. The punished may call for their last rites, as afforded to them by the canonist church, should they be a canonist. III. When it comes time for the criminal to be killed, their head should be placed on a block, for them to be beheaded. IV. Customarily, it is the Kritai who should swing the sword killing the criminal, however this can be wavered should a Kritai not be present. BL.02.07 - On Prisoners of War. I.Should an enemy be captured in war, their fate may be decided by The Magister, a Kritai or any officer of the Brotherhood of Balian, with a trial being overlooked due to the circumstances. II. Should there be a disagreement about how to handle this situation, the view of The Magister or Kritai will supersede the military officials. BL.02.08 - On Military Criminals. I.If a member of The Brotherhood of Balian commits an offence that is not a higher assault, mutilation, murder or treason, they will be afforded a court martial, which the captain will oversee. II. If a member of The Brotherhood of Balian commits an offence that is not a higher assault, mutilation, murder or treason, they will receive a Magisterium investigation and a subsequent trial. III. If a member of The Brotherhood of Balian is found to have abused their powers to fine lower crimes or pass judgement in war time situations, they will receive a Magisterium investigation and a subsequent trial, potentially resulting in dishonourable discharge or another punishment. BL.02.09 - On Peer Criminals. I.If a Peer commits an offence, once they have been investigated by the Magisterium, they will be trialled by The Magister or Grand Duke only. BL.02.10- On Trials of Treason. I.A trial concerning the act of treason will only ever be trialled by The Magister or Grand Duke. BL.02.11- On Defence. I.A defendant may call for their own lawyer to defend them in court should they want to. II. If the lawyer doesn’t arrive within 30 Saint’s minutes, the court will not allow for the defence to have a lawyer and the defendant must defend themselves. BL.02.11- On Repeated offenders. I.A criminal who has before been found guilty of a crime, will have their punishment increased. E.g a 400 mina fine would become a 600 mina fine. II. Should a criminal who commits low level crimes (Those who which receive punishments under 500 mina) repeat their offences, they will not be fined on the spot and subsequently be sent to trial. I have packed my bags up for a journey far away, into the deeper areas of Almaris. There, I can find some sort of cure, or at least hope to help my family. Entry II In my extensive knowledge I have gain from travelling around Almaris, I would have not known I would gain a sister, or well adopt one. As I was looking for some sort of person with a medical background, I had met the young prodigy Delilah coincidentally along the way to Vortice. War has stepped into our lives as they threaten us with raids and kidnapping our people. Delilah resides in Fenn for her studies; where it is safer. On the other hand, I have decided to stand my ground and stay at Elysium, in hopes that our kingdom is strong enough to keep the Orcs at bay. I watch over the walls, always anticipating death at our gates. Entry IV Uruks. Crude in nature and powerful in battle. They had somehow gotten into Elysium while I was away gathering more herbs. They side with Krugmar. What crazy racists they show to be. I used the citizen tunnels to quietly get in, spying on them as they lurk the streets of our home. Seven in total I have seen. How could a handful of them get in when we had guards on every post? I have heard their prideful yells of how we are cowards, how the guards ran away, and how they would not let anyone in; mostly because they did not have the key. Renewed Hospital of St. Amyas Code of Conduct As of the 9th of Snow’s Maiden, Year 75 of the Second Age As of Wzuvar ag Byvca, 424 E.S. On Medical Personnel: Surgeon General: The head medic of the hospital and in charge of everything relating to health and recovery of all citizens and allies of Hanseti-Ruska. This includes: running and maintaining the hospital, educating all apprentices and practitioners in the ways of medicine, and assisting in BSK operations as either a combat medic or a field doctor. Deputy Surgeon General: The second in command to the Surgeon General and appointed as they see fit. Their duties are to educate practitioners and apprentices while acting as the Surgeon General while they are not currently present. Physician: A medic that has completed the training and passed the exam given by the clinic management. They may practice medicine within the Kingdom of Hanseti-Ruska and accompany the BSK on operations where the medic corps is required. Apprentice: A medic that has not completed the training and/or has not passed the exam given by the clinic management. They often assist physicians with patients to gain practical or theoretical knowledge as teaching, and many gain the opportunity to treat patients when physicians are unavailable or occupied. An apprentice may only perform on patients with injuries they have been fully taught in. An Apprentice may not perform autopsies or enter the morgue without the supervision of a licensed practitioner or higher. Auxiliary Medical Personnel: A medic that does not reside in the Kingdom and has been verified by the Surgeon General in order to practice medicine in the Kingdom of Hanseti-Ruska. Active Duty: Any Practitioner or Higher informing the Surgeon General or Deputy SG they are on active duty before giving care to a patient, if they enter the hospital of St. Amyas upon a medic being summoned or attending official missions with the BSK will be deemed as an active duty practitioner. On Defining Medical Terminology: Medic: Any practitioner or higher with sufficient training and licensing. Combat Medic: A medic trained to fight and treat the wounded while in a battle setting. In order to be a full Combat Medic, one must have licensing from the Hospital and be at least an Oathedman in the BSK. Alchemist: A person with the knowledge of the science of Alchemy. They are versed with the application of and knowledge to craft alchemical solutions. Therapist: A medic with specialization in mental health and trauma. Herbalist: A medic who specialize in the use of, harvesting and culturing of herbs in their treatment. Midwife: A medic who specialises in labour and pregnancy in women. Family Nurse/Doctor: A medic who specialises in the care of children through infancy to adulthood. Malpractice: When a medic purposefully injures/cripples/ kills a patient, causes physical or mental harm to a patient, and/or practices without proper training or proper license, that medic shall be banned from practicing medicine in the Kingdom of Hanseti-Ruska on the grounds of malpractice. Malpractice can be brought up in the Aulic courts by an injured party (wronged patient or family) seeking monetary reperations for the negligence or misconduct. Autopsy: A study of a dead being for the purposes of determining a cause of death or furthering an education of the personnel of the hospital. Invasive: An autopsy where the cadaver is cut open for one of two purposes: to determine cause of death when a non-invasive autopsy is unable to do so or to provide further knowledge of the body to the Hospital staff. Non-Invasive: An autopsy where the corpse is not cut open for the purpose of determining the cause of death. The corpse must remain intact till the next of kin or state is able to come collect said corpse. Cadaver: A deceased body meant to be studied for furthering the education of the Hospital staff. Corpse: A deceased body stored in the morgue until the next of kin or state come to collect said body for funeral rites. Clinical Trespassing: When a person not injured or a part of hospital staff is interfering with hospital operations. On The Medical Licensing Process: Lessons: The Apprentice wishing to become a full practitioner must complete each lesson in the Hospital curriculum under the Surgeon General or Deputy Surgeon General. The Written Medical Exam: Once the Apprentice has completed the training and has gotten the approval of the Surgeon General, they may then take the written exam. This exam will cover hospital policy and procedure while also covering theoretical events where medical knowledge is needed to make the call. Licensing: Once an Apprentice or applying Auxiliary Medic has completed the medical exam, they are then qualified for a medical license to practice in the Kingdom of Hanseti-Ruska after taking the oath of a Doctor with the Surgeon General. Should any Practitioner or Auxiliary Personnel practice without a license or have gotten their license revoked, they will be banned from practicing medicine within the Kingdom of Hanseti-Ruska and if caught will be brought before the court for malpractice. Should the Surgeon General or Deputy Surgeon General lose their license, they will be stripped of their position, banned from practice, and brought before the court for malpractice and gross incompetence. On Patient Care: Physicians are entitled to refuse to treat a patient if they are not on active duty. Only the King or the Lord Palatine may overrule this unless at least one of, but not limited to one, the below mentioned conditions are met: They are a Non-descendant creature Have a bad history with the medic in question Have assaulted (verbally or physically) the medic in question Have disregarded previous orders from a practitioner or higher If the patient gets severely crippled, wounded, or dies due to the practitioner refusing to treat the patient when not on active duty, the practitioner cannot be held liable if the patient falls under any of the above mentioned categories. If the practitioner is on active duty they may only refuse treatment if their life is under threat by the patient. Patients may refuse treatment so long as they are fully conscious when the attending medic arrives. Only the Koeng or the Lord Palatine may overrule this should they or the Surgeon General informing them deem it necessary. Another descendant or next of kin may not refuse on behalf of the patient if said patient is unconscious. On Morgue Procedures: Entry into the Morgue shall be restricted to the Surgeon General and Deputy Surgeon General. Practitioners and the Lord Palatine may request permission, but this permission must be acquired each entry into the morgue. Apprentices and Auxiliary personnel may only be down in the morgue under the watch of the Surgeon General or Deputy Surgeon General. Proper Care of Corpses and Cadavers will be left to the Surgeon General and Deputy Surgeon General. Each corpse and cadaver will be stored for 13 months before being cremated. This is to prevent a viral pandemic to break out. If the corpse does not have family or the family has not come to collect the corpse, it must be burned. Lessons can be held in the morgue for practical skills. These lessons shall be held by the Surgeon General or Deputy Surgeon General presiding. Only Apprentices and other hospital staff may be down in the morgue if a lesson is taking place there. All others will be asked to leave lest they be charged with clinical trespassing. Cremation will take place when: the corpse has not been collected after 13 months and no family or the state has stated otherwise after being contacted or the cadaver has not been used in 13 months to prevent disease from spreading. Reports will be written by the Surgeon General or Deputy Surgeon General depending on which office is doing the autopsy. The family, State, and Hospital Management shall have access to the autopsy report should the need arise. All of the policies above are to be held by the Surgeon General and the staff under them. No doubt both caused by my dismal conditions. I try to scheme a way out, but my mind is equally as empty as this cavern, now that no other descendants nor monsters roam it. As a group of Mali'aheral continued to work away at a heap of debris, the unstable sapphire mine they stood in would rumble, pieces of the cavern walls and ceiling crumbling down as they chipped off pieces of the bottom. “Is it falling there, too?” “It is!” “Ve can’t leave him!” Hræthån growled, “If we continue to mine, we’re all going to die, including him!” “Just — go!” Elarhil Sullas gave the muffled cry out, agonizing to be witness to, “The death of one Mali’aheral is better than three.” “The death of none is best!” Soris shuffled towards the stairway, peering toward the water. “We could go higher, is there another place we can get him out?” Questioned Okarir’tir Edgars An’asul. The stairs shook as the structure of the cave was compromised. From above, rocks began to cascade. "Please!" Elarhil pleaded, curling up besides the pirate skeleton that rest in his otherwise solitary hollow, as sand and water flooded in. Hræthån grumbled in anger, "SHIT!" He roared as he begun to hammer as quick as he could at the sandstone. Soris snapped her attention to the ceiling, dropping the shovel as she brought both hands to her helmet, holding the sides, "Shit, shit." She cursed, before turning towards the others. Hræthån grasped then that he would have to take a different approach. He turned to Edgars and Soris, "We have to get out NOW!" He shouted, "We can come back later, when it's safer!" Wide-eyed with alarm, Elarhil nestled further, "Ti, Hræthån! Please GO! You'll kill all of us!" He choked. "Alright, time to go!" Scout Pamphlet, Vol niut – The Sapphire Mine Issued 9th of Malin’s Welcome, Year 74 of the Second Age Theme Last elven day, a band of brave Mali’thill descended into an abandoned sapphire mine that was discovered North East of the Haelun’orian isle; What awaited, was altogether an unknown. Here are the findings of Okarir’tir Edgars An’asul, Anara Elervathar, Hileia, Stelios Kekemos Hyptos, Valazaer Calith, and myself, Okarir’mali Elarhil Sullas. We could infer that the last descendant visitors to the cave were a crew of pirates. Their forsaken ship docked close by, a code found upon the vessel allowed us to enter the mine after decryption. Maneuvering through the cave formation was in itself a task. The walls ooze a luminous lime green slime, adherent to touch, it has the possibility to entrap an entire Mali. That which blocked our path we singed by handheld torches, allowing us to proceed. While it had been evident descendants had not entered for quite some time prior to us, other creatures inhabit the area still. A colossal coconut crab, disturbed by our presence, put up an arduous defence till the creature could no longer — retreating to a crack in the wall. Curiously, frequent throughout the cave were locked chests, each with further unique codes needed to be opened. One chest, relatively near to the surface, we found had a ship carved onto the top and buttons on every side marked front, back, left and right accordingly. A quick-witted Hileia solved the puzzle, noting the order of the directions mentioned in a journal scrap found on the nearby pirate ship, pressing the buttons on the sides of the chest, bow, stern, port and starboard to open it. Deeper in the mine, as close to the bellows as we could get, we were faced with an enormous web that crawled with spiders. Ideas were thrown around as to how to surpass this. However, we concluded it would be wise to conserve energy, establish a plan and return later. As such, we are returning to the site on The Grand Harvest. Above ground, a rescue party will be stationed on the beach as a precaution — with refreshments, naturally. Take your best adventuring gear; advised is a light source, a weapon, a shield and light food and water rations. THE TRIALS OF LOVE 11th of Gronna ag Droba 421 E.S. 'They were discovered entangled in sheets, cheeks reddened with a guilty sheen.’ Adele Ludovar reads a copy of the most recent Edition of Hearsay. As she does so, she sinks down onto the palace steps, unable to tear her eyes away from the piece of parchment she clasps in her hands. She already knew everything that was written about Him in the edition, of course, but it still horrified her to read it. Her mind glanced back on the horror of the month before. Adele Ludovar sat with her family. Her new family. The family of her mother that she was still exploring, that side that her father had fought so hard to hide from them. (And not Him with his despair and impulsiveness; sleeping with another woman the month before they were to be married) And she received a note by courier: ‘Adele. We need to Talk. - Matyas’. He burst into tears as soon as he saw her, crying out and holding onto her tightly - maybe savouring that moment of calm and her concerned affection before it all came crashing down. Their combined sobs wracked through the Ludovar apartment that evening, as they fought back and forth then eventually being left as a mournful pile of two broken young people In Love. Adele Ludovar watches the rain pour down while she sits, barely sheltered, under the Palace’s outer foyer. Her freezing hands hold the copy of Hearsay Edition XIII and the rain blots into each page, smearing the ink and ruining it. But the words written are burnt into her mind and she will never forget what has happened to trigger such an edition. 'Even if Lady Adele wishes to make amends, her father surely does not.’ Adele Ludovar hugs her father as sobs are released in the halls of Otistadt. “Ea forgive Him, papej.” She says quickly, through her tears, “V-vy didn’t see Him on the day, he was…” She cuts herself off, not wanting to finish that sentence. 'A mess.’ Johann speaks plainly when he replies, rubbing her back comfortingly as he holds her. “But it does niet free him from his deeds. And it does niet make me trust that he will take care of mea greatest treasure in the whole world. Ea could niet care about anyone’s feelings if it costs pain to mea dearest.” And at that a servant runs up the stairs with a certain dish on a plate. 'An Erkindelir with Uli’ He states, ‘Ea only feed him the dish he cooked.’ Adele Ludovar does not know how she feels. On one hand she is still heartbroken, while on the other her heart aches when she is away from Him. She must be In Love with Him. Adele Ludovar might be a stupid girl In Love, who will surely suffer for her mistakes. 'Was it worth it, Lord Alban?’ Adele Ludovar’s face pales as Johann turns to head back to Karosgrad and Matyas, her beloved, to serve Him the dish that would seal their fate and she frantically clutches at his upper arms in a vague attempt to stop him from leaving. “Papej, nie.” She says, eyes suddenly filling with a kind of terrified desperation. “Vy can’t do this, v-vy can’t!” She cries, her heart beating faster in her chest with every passing moment. Adele Ludovar is petrified of losing Him. (Him and his auburn hair and the dimple right there on his cheek, and his sky blue eyes that she loves so dearly. Him and his great sorrowful weeping in regret of his actions, and Him and his unforgivable betrayal that almost made her heart stop.) Adele Ludovar is not ready to admit what she is about to plead with… But surely it’s the only way as she claws at her father’s arm clutching that heart to rip it from him and protect Matyas. It is all she can do. “Ea love Him-!” She cries, “E-ea do, vy can’t do this…” Johann dislodges her from his arm, glancing over his shoulder with an impregnably stern expression. ‘Yam heading back. Vy should rest, dear.’ 'Do tell me, for I am quite curious.’ Adele Ludovar is cold; for there is no warmth in a world without Him. Adele Ludovar stands beside Him in the cold empty Basilica. Their words echoed through the halls as they spoke, and her heart aches for disobeying her father’s wishes but even more she flinches with every syllable from his poetic lips as her stomach does somersaults… She stands dumbfounded at his declaration. “Ea will marry vy, Adele Emma Ludovar,” He declares as he stares at her; eyes full of determination. “That ea promise vy.” It’s his avowel to her. That he will work until he drops dead or earns her hand. Adele Ludovar sighs wistfully, an aching beginning to form in her stomach as she stares at Him. “Please… When vy duel. Don’t get hurt…” She says quietly, “Ea’ll be worried…” In response he only grimaces. “Ea have to get hurt.” He murmurs, bringing his glance to the floor. “Otherwise ea fear there is nie chance of convincing vyr papej.” That fills her with a sense of dread and fear, and she reaches to grasp his hand. “Ea’ll be worried,” She gently pleads, silently praying to Godan at the altar that he’ll give in. “Or- at least don’t try to get hurt.” He allows her to take his hand, “Ea will survive, ea assure vy.” 'But what use is a playwright when he lives his own tragedy?’ Adele Ludovar stands in the shaded observation area of Karosgrad’s hippodrome with her heart in her throat, thumping loudly, as she watches her sister and Beloved stand opposing one another. Her lip quivers fearfully. She can barely think straight. What if he loses? What does that even prove? What if he gets hurt? What if he dies? How could she ever forgive Amicia for hurting him? And how could she ever forgive her father for orchestrating the whole thing! She should be married by now. She could have been pregnant by now; she would have been so happy… What if this is it for them? Adele Ludovar watches the pair size each other up as Amicia puts on her gloves and her eyes widen. They prepare to fight for her honour. The honour that she doesn’t want back… Adele Ludovar wants Him back.

The battle fierce as auxillary face one another to keep them from the phalanx as both sides of beautiful citizens, each an individual with rights, privileges, and heroes of great family battle to see themselves greatest. Shields pressed to shield, and spikes thrust. Until one gains the upperhand. You look to your brother as a spike glanced over the shield, ending him quickly. Every loss felt gravely, but the fight continues on. When one side victorious, perhaps of the result of two champions choosing to duel for victory, fine judgement leads to greater legend. The taking ransom, or a piece of panoply or a trading good may be a powerful lesson to learn, yet to end who you have before you, with no chance to bare arms in noble defense? A sight most savage. We recall the shameful display, the debate where Sohaer Braxus Ni’leya offered you in a traditional Haelun’orian manner, the chance to challenge him for his position. We recall how you showed up late, supportless, and asked Elsohaer if he was ready to give up his position. He brushed off your inquiry, looking to the dais for the debate to begin, and in a flustered state from the Citadel you fled. We recall the demolition of our walls. The swarm that took to the city to pillage. The lives of our officials being taken. We recall that now outside their homes, your enthusiasts are attacking citizens. They do not wish to participate in discourse, they are irritated by it, since they are not Haelun’orians like you claim. We recall the path of destruction taken to reach today; this you chose over a simple debate. In your latest missive you make many accusations of falsities. It was befittingly titled, for your writings were in fact, a mockery of truth. First and foremost, the Republicans have not fled. They are the citizens that remain in their city that you continue to lay claim to, this much is obvious, or there would not be conflict within it. You are merely trying to paint a picture that you have succeeded in your plot. Moving on to the library. Nobody has lied and persuaded their way inside, you may ask Elokarir’maehr or Tilruir’nealu who are upholding the library, this is a baseless claim. You criticise Varus for sabotaging the locks when that is in fact what you did, barring the citizenry from reaching their homes, along with public buildings such as the Citadel. May you be reminded that the Silver City does allow visitors. Issue stems not from them but the Mali’fenn you invite to murder our relatives. Furthermore, no wounding was warranted. As you admit, citizens were ordered to surrender; surrender to ones without authority within Elcihi’thilln. Yet, rather than retaliating to their mockery with the barbarity they would get back, the highly capable group attempted to walk away calmly. The harassment of citizens to submit, some of whom you did not even know the stance of, is further provoking a schism you say it was to prevent. Malauriran bare witness to all of this. To the council who condone these actions and events; you have lost all jurisdiction. Not because of Haelun’orian’s beliefs, but outside the Fennic plague have been actively ignoring you as they think they now decide what is what in Haelun’or. They pose as if they are Elsillumiran, they do not respond to those councillors working with them, simply they are not in good faith. I ask you each this to ponder - are you with Haelun’or? You may not have known of Ayliana’s plot to ascend Ivarielle, still your words and actions show support for it - perhaps out of love for your lliran? Clear as the water of our silver isle we see that Ivarielle’s actions are not preserving Haelun’orian culture or peoples. Haelun’or, of course, is where these elements are. Ne active role has been taken by her to stop the bloodshed and impurity on the streets, instead, she has justified it. Do you accept a Sohaer who would watch idly as ‘her’ people, the Haelun’orian people, are slaughtered? Lastly, more mention of Ayliana. We all are aware she is a performer, she adores the spotlight, unfortunately she should only be kept out of it. The genuine adherents to Maehr’sae Hiylun’ehya see through her words of deceit. Think she is not a deceiver? Take it not from us - but from her. In the missive, ‘The Schemes Of A Dove’, she explicitly details how she manipulated the late Sohaer Idendril Elassidil. Her actions were not in the interests of Haelun’orians. Rather, a self-serving display. Ayliana only cares for recognition, be it negative or positive. An anonymous elf BLESSED MALI’THILL OF THE SILVER STATE OF HAELUN’OR None of us are perfect – we are all subject to failure however it is our duty to learn from those mistakes. Some time ago, I called upon a vote to install Ms Ayliana Valwynn as Sohaer and such was met with a unanimous approval. A unanimous ask for change within the Silver State of Haelun’or. I had hopes and I had dreams, a proper change to turn our silver society into a fully working democracy, and such still is a dream I long for. While I do think peace and dialogue is the answer, I ne approve of installing a tyrant who hoped nothing but destruction for our blessed silver council. We are not a Monarchy and the Silver Council is not for anyone to change without the approval of the rest of the council. Thus, effective immediately, I, Usamea An’asul offer the Silver State of Haelun’or my resignation from the position of Okarir’akaln. I wish the state all the best, however I can not support anyone who seeks to install a tyrant into positions of leadership without a democratic vote. The Quest of a young Ludovar [The Ludovar twins traversing the streets of Karosgrad.] I. WHO ARE YOU? "You shall depart from Haense to have time away from all the current ties you have, to own a clearer mind.” It had been a quite miserable day, thus far. Adele Ludovar received a messenger that morning from her temporary noble accommodations in Karosgrad - due to the Komital House’s apartment being moved or renovated following their promotion - who had hurried, huffing and puffing, to her door with letter in hand. The letter entailed the missive which her father had written and published that very morning regarding herself and her sister. She had felt vindicated, attacked, and by her own father? He was banishing her from her home, her friends, and everything she holds dear. And for what? Her young, immature mind could not conceive of why he would antagonise her in this way and she felt spiteful towards him. It didn’t help how, when she sought out her sister for guidance and understanding, she had seemed far more excited about the prospect than she had! It made Adele feel that maybe there was something wrong with her… Surely she should be excited, ecstatic about finally being given permission to leave Karosgrad by herself and make her own way in the world. But she didn’t… The Ludovar Twins gathered in Karosgrad to say their final goodbyes to all of their friends and family - an emotional affair - and it only soured Adele further to see the attitude of Amicia versus the disappointment of her relatives and closest friends. Should she not be crying? Bawling, at the decision to send her away? It just made Adele feel silly and immature for making such a fuss, while highlighting dear sweet Amicia’s grace and maturity as the older twin. 6 Saint’s Minutes… For this. Goodbyes were said, tears were shed, and hugs were shared. And finally Adele rode her dearest horse, Bit, towards her destination: Elysium. It was the first place she could think of, after everything. But as she wandered through the busy streets, all that filled her mind was memories of her latest trip there. But without Theodosya to cheer her up, or Klara’s excitement and encouragement, the city truly didn’t feel the same - or like home. She had gone there to seek out her maternal grandfather or further information about her mother, but no one she had seen seemed as though they may be familiar with her mother - or the de Astrea family at all. As she sunk in defeat against a pillar in the central square, she hung her head low in shame. She felt like such a failure. It was only day 1 of living on her own and she had found nothing of interest, and she couldn’t even find sufficient accommodation for herself to sleep that evening. She curled up, without the motivation to even write in her diary as she was accustomed to doing, against the cold stone pillar. She listened quietly to the goings on of the evening as her eyes fluttered closed in fatigue. She took a moment to drape her thick fur cloak across herself before her eyes drooped shut. Safe to say that Adele slept rough that night… [An artist’s rendition of Adele’s metaphorical journey to adulthood in leaving Karosgrad and travelling through the woods to Elysium.] II. WHO DO YOU WANT TO BE? 'Only when you return from your quest will you be considered as ready to officially reach adulthood.’ Her heart felt empty as she trudged through the empty streets of Yong Ping. She had given up with Elysium after a horrendous month of sleeping the streets, witnessing the affairs of darkness, and watching a few rare moments of innocent child kindness. Children were common to the streets of the Kingdom, though whose they were or where they stayed was not known to Adele, however she had watched them play through the Elysian avenues for hours on end. It had warmed her heart to watch them, and observing their play had certainly given her plenty of time to think. She despised the person she had been the month prior: spiteful, full of disgust and protest, unenthusiastic, even cruel at times. But nothing she had said or done had been faked or had been a lie! She WAS unenthusiastic about leaving, but she did love her sister. When they separated from each other at last in a busy hub of travel, the tears she had shed had been nothing if not real. And now as she sat upon the highest roof of the barren city, the rain battering her back, she was filled with an unending sense of loneliness and the image of those happy clapping playing Elysian children filled her mind with longing. As a child, Adele had been very sick and weak - a trait typical of one child in a pair of twins - and thus her father had kept her safe and cramped and bored inside the Otistadt nursery for many years. Through her first years of life, through her mother’s death, and even through Amicia’s eventual release to the streets of Karosgrad. While this confinement had alighted in her a furious passion for reading and literature, she had missed out on years of play which her twin had been given access to. As such, she often felt robbed of her childhood. She worried for her sister, her dearest twin who she treasured dearly. No matter how jealous she may feel on the bad days, nothing could fill the void in her soul when they were separated; when she didn’t know where she was. When she had first been introduced to Karosgrad’s pavement, she followed Amicia like her personal shadow. She had tried to emulate her - following in her every step and motion, but of course as they grew they drifted apart. They had never officially fought, but there were days filled with jealously and anger; occasional aggression and later tears of sorrow and remorse. The rippling water expanse extended before her while the abandoned city sat unused. There were a number of heartfelt details within the foreign city, and over her time spent there she came to learn of many of the alleys and got to know the capital very well. Her favourite spot she discovered was the roof of the island casino where one could see the entire metropolis with its intricate architecture and well-loved streets. And from her favourite spot one day, she spied movement within the Yong Ping streets… And as Adelaide von Audrick walked through the avenues, she had caught the eye of Adele Emma, and that day was an eventful one… [Adele Emma leading Bit through the countrysides of Almaris to her new destination: Sedan.] III. WHAT IS THE REAL PLEASURE IN LIFE? 'I wish to pass on a dream I had when I was your age onto you. I wanted to figure out who I was, what I wanted to do with my life and how I can become a better man.’ Adele Emma sat atop a hilltop with her book in front of her, and pen in hand. For she was no longer Adele Ludovar, as her father had decreed. She was now Adele Emma; her mother’s daughter. A girl who was named after Queen Emma Karenina of Karosgrad, a woman she great admired. A girl who was named after her illusive Reinmaren grandmother, Adele the former. Two great women who she had always wished to emulate, to make them proud and make her father proud. But things were different now: Adele Emma turned 18 that day and she could officially return home, if she was ready… But she hadn’t answered the final question. She knew who she was: she was Adele Emma Ludovar. And she knew exactly who she wanted to be: she wanted to be the woman worthy of her names, the woman who could live up to that precedent and the woman who would make her father proud. But what was a real pleasure? What did she love to do? And as she sat there, alone, atop a Sedanian hill, she glanced down to her beaten and muddied dress. Her eyes brushed over her small bag of possessions with its books, and her tiny Bokolo fledgling taking shelter inside her bag. They passed over her bottle of alcohol, her remaining food, and her jewellry. But finally she fixated on something: the gifts she had purchased all across Almaris to give to her family. And while she sat there and thought for a moment, she remembered her travels in the past months and how gruelling they had been. And she remembered what had pushed her through, what she had been hanging onto the whole time. Adele Emma missed her family profoundly, the crater left in her heart could do nothing but grow, its cracks spreading all over her face and features without those she loved the most by her side. Her eyes gazed around the streets of the Principality of Sedan, where her sister would come to rule over in harmony with her brother-in-law. It was a desolate place, with a chill wind that reminded her of home. Adele Emma found it both an unnerving and a comforting place, all at the same time. She briefly wandered the streets - the houses were small and cramped, with the great Castle impeding upon them, and it made her feel sorry for Amicia’s future life. But she resolved that there was nothing she could do about it from there, it was time to finish up and collect her horse. Adele Emma wanted to go home. I am the younger of two twins and we are turning 18 years of age today. I love books, and I love my pets. I am not confident, but I love throwing parties and making people happy. I was named after a successful businesswoman, my grandmother Adele, and I was named after a gifted Queen, Koenas Emma. I have an aspiration to be involved in the management of law and justice, just as you did. But most importantly, I love you and my family. I am emotional, but that is okay. That is who I am. I am your beloved daughter. I wish to live up to the amazing women I am named after. I don’t know if that is even possible, but I want to be generous, kindhearted, loyal, loving, warm, considerate, brave, and ambitious just like them. And I will hold those traits close to me as I try to follow in their footsteps. I thought for a long time, all of the time that I was gone I have thought about this. The third question, the final question. And finally it dawned on me when I realised what I had been pining for all that time, and the reason I had wanted to leave home so little. I didn’t want to leave you, my family. Are family is not that large, in comparison to other, and we are tight-knight. We are close. I have missed you dearly on my travels. I have missed Amicia more than anything, like losing a piece of myself - though I think that being away from her has helped me to learn independence. But all those things aside, the thing I noticed when we first passed through Karosgrad’s gates - no, when I first read your letter to us, I missed my family. And the realest pleasure in life is to spend time with your family and friends, something that you can only realise when you are parted from them. Papej, I think I am ready to come home now. Valazaer Calith, former Div’kinael of the Sillumir, stole massive amounts of resources from the Sillumir vault. It is unknown the exact number of materials he took- but each of the following stores were looted: Coal stores Iron stores Weapon stores Armour stores Aurum stores Not only has he broken article two of the Silver Law, but he has stolen from a government building, and betrayed his fellow comrades by taking part in such a venomous act. ELUHIERAN HANDBOOK 10th of The Deep Cold, Year 66 of The Second Age Eluhieran is a historic institution, founded 1719 FA by Azorella Elibar’acal, it was refounded in 1749 FA by Althaia Elibar’acal and again in 66 SA by Elarhil Sullas. It seeks to develop the minds and bodies of Mali’aheral oem’ii and create bonds, through games, campouts, educational activities and exploration. Eluhieran consists of the Scouts and the Scout Haeluns/Malns. Any child under the age of 50 may join as a scout, adults over the age of 50 may join as a scout haelun or maln if they meet a requirement.
