((Ooc)) How To Fix Malinor

I'm going to write a little rant here, and yes, I'm a bit dissapointed in Malinor's OOC behavior, and I don't think I by myself can do something when in fact, all of you need to look and solve the problems amongst youselves.

I do not like now Malinor conducted themselves after certain events, especially recent events, and events that do not go their way. Every time someone who appears to be hostile enters your city with no intention of hostility, you guys throw an OOC temper tantrum. Every time you blatantly dug yourselves into a hole of losing, you cry and call bullshit for refusal to accept the consequences of your IC actions.

I'm going to repeat the advice that many others have stated. Do not pick fights you cannot win.

And I'm going to give you guys another piece of advice: Accept IC consequences for your IC actions, and roll with the damn punches instead of bitching OOCly for every bad thing that happens in Malinor, especially issues that you brought among yourselves. Solve it in RP.

New Religions, Government Reform, pizzaz and sparkles mean absolutely nothing if the Malinor community can't fix the attitudes that were the very reason they're hated OOCly.

I'm personally sick of it. This needs to change first before delving into government nonsense.

I'm so happy a topic like this arrived, I've constantly been stressing to the leaders of Malinor that there's no possible way they can /EVER/ win a war with their current internal state. The cities in shambles, the guard force is smaller then the average raid group and generally one thing I've noticed - Nothing ever gets done, its always 'I'll get round to it' or they simple nod and dismiss it a few minutes later. Its taken me a whole week to get acknowledgement for supplies to build ONE manor in Malinor as their architect.

I personally believe all your points are dot on and wished I would have been around to help you try and drive these into effect, I hope others take notice of this and begin to see reason. I know I personally will try and drive some of these points home for you.

This, I never got supplies for the library, nor money for books. I had to fund it on my own pocket for months.

Instead of focusing so much on trying to waste resources fighting more powerful nations, just rp in the peaceful forest.

Instead of making such a big deal about edgies, just arrest them or ignore them till they get bored.

Instead of having two councils, just have the princes like previous posts asked for.

Instead of having a bunch of mini-factions in Malinor making it more crazy than the old Human Empire to keep track of, elves should be friends.

Instead of getting caught up in the flow, let it flow.

After all, there's hundreds of years for them to live. They really wouldn't have much of a need to mess with world politics, since it won't matter in 10 or 20 ingame years anyways. The rules should be upheld and the lumi'drim made stronger, of course, but it shouldn't really be fussed over  if there are bandits or edgies unless they start to destroy the /hopefully/ peaceful forest. Which, if it was legitimately peaceful, they would have no reason to attack in the first place.

Have a week off, my semester went swell in college, expect me and you'll either fall down in the prostration of change or lay down. Which is it?

Things are being developed that will change how Malinor operates, and in a beneficial manner.

Eh...Back in Normandor I had religious debates with loads of atheist elves...

Religeon I don't think really plays a role within elven RP.

"Zee reason I don't zeenk aelves like ree-leegee-ohn eez because zey zaemselves trahnsaend most menial life. ahnd maneh times, zey have seen too much of life to pay attaint-tee-ohn to zee small inner details of zeh  gods."  -Quavinir Signus as to Prince Glylith Lightforge.

Its pointless to talk about change unless you engage in a full discussion with the nation leaders.

Baconthief is but one prince, I have yet seen Titania post on this thread. If the High Princess does not even acknowledge this, what hope could you possibly have on change?

I view this thread as a giant rant thread instead of a actually feedback thread, since its almost all one sided anyways.

Well I've read every post now.

Lion here, I was recently made prince which prolly pissed some people off, lol. In reality I've been working pretty hard on laying bricks for a road headed in a good direction. Most notably I secured the peace treaty (cease fire) between Malinor and Oren as part of my Ambassador duty. I'm gathering competent RP'ers to Malinor to spread some RP cheer of a casual and peaceful nature (PM me if you want to get in on da action.). I currently act as "Arbiter" of the Lumi'drim which is basically second in command, a group whom I'm investing most of my time into. As of late I've gotten comments from various soldiers and friends of Malinor saying things like, "That was the most fun RP I've had in ages" or "Damn you provided me with an outlet to have fun RP, thnx bro." Those sorts of comments have made me all warm and fuzzy inside, motivates me out of the trenches of frustration and boredom when I see so many doing so little around me.

I don't know where I'm going with this, but I want y'all to know the tide of change is nigh. A new dawn will rise, with it (I hope) the nation of Malinor in it's golden rays. I try to be open minded with everyone, don't pull the fire alarm when some armored bub walks through the gate, and rarely ever talk to staff members on issues that could result in a ban like my quick to the gat fellow RP'ers. It starts with us my friends, we set the example, the guide for players to follow. My beautiful babe Lion is not the greatest elf, but don't start judging what I Dokahn stand for because my char used to kill *******, get money, and pimp around Oren with Godfrey, it was in the job description. In truth I've killed one person in the past month I've been part of Malinor, a known murderer himself (real bad dude guize).

Take a moment my fellow elf to look deep and hard into the mirror, many will find they're just as bad as "le human trolls". I've heard numerous times elves say they won't deal with humans because they troll or they won't do x because one day someone did b. Y'all clownbabies are crying about mistakes players made in the elven government years ago and how unfair it is that you have to deal with it. Yet you get foaming mouths and pull out the pitchforks when another nation has to pay for the sins of their father. THE FLAYS KILLED MY BABIES 100 YEARS AGO, YOU KNOX CARRION MUST PAY FOR THIS!!!11! Sorry if you feel like I just trashed yo'ass, I mean no OOC harm nor do I harbor malice, just callin' it hows I sees it.

As for the edgies, the Elven Standards Society will emerge and correct them if I can pass it in a council meeting. If elves be jockin' your style or being all around fuccbois shoot me a PM over the forums or in-game (MC Name = Dokahn) and I will try my best to remember to give them the 6 feet treat or something. Topic sentences got screwy, but the general blah is there. Will try to fix elves without genocide, against all da odds.

TL;DR Thanks Obama.

Somewhat irrelevant post below.

Malin was Malin, not a Druid. Though I understand your point, he was simply the epitome of an Elf. The only reason the Druids have ever been in Malinor was because there were open perms in one region of Laurelin in Aegis so they settled there knowing that Native was a cool guy and the Elves have similar views to them. They could have just as easily been in the wilds, t'was but a matter of convenience that they were once (kinda) allied with Malinor.

See lion and khel are doing a great change, and Vonebs is changing the way he thinks which is making him more level headed. Gaius came in and is increasing roleplay personally me and masky have been doing constant guard rp that isn't corrupt. But everyone says it is... But thats cause we actually enforce the laws..

I've not read every post in this thread, and I've most certainly not taken the full time to understand the agruments posed by the one hundre or so people who have posted in any way, shape, or form.

I'm not going to outline my post in a flamboyant way, I make things bold because they're important, I italicize because I'm being sarcastic, and I put things in quotations because they're quotes.

Malinor has been a semi-functional city of assassins (Assassino!), cultists, dark artists, thieves, cannibals, thugs, and gangs from the time I walked into the city at the beginning of Anthos to the moment I've written this sentence. They've come and gone, save for an unnamed few, for the most part but every problem we deal with is immediately and irrevokably replaced by a different party of individuals with a similar mindset. The government has striven, and done quite well, with the problems they've been forced to deal with in the past few months. We pride ourselves on being less edgy (to a degree) than a fair amount of nations around us.

What has given us this benefit as a whole is our mindset. We strive to be better. The Elves have always worked on improving themselves, with our government not accepting things as a lost cause and consistantly working IC and OOC to correct those respective problems. Our biggest issue, however, is inexperience.

Were Malinor, or even lord of the craft as a whole, an unchanging playerbase where each and every person was assigned a sector and never left. We'd be able to educate newer players on how things worked, why they worked that way, and how they could fit into the system. But no matter how we try to become robots, we're people too. We get angry when things don't go our way, we want to win and acquire fame, honor, and material wealth. We're only human in real life, we're just pretending to be something better than we are.

It's hard to distance yourself from a character, and to throw away everything about your personality and will to substitute it with the respective qualities of the being which you are represented by on the server. It's a game, we all know, but we try to no end to become more and more like our Elves... to not be as much of a valah. And so we can never hope to be perfect, we can never hope to intigrate everyone into our society without flaw and organise everyone into a singular utopian rule with no crime, hate, or death.

But does this mean a genocide should be commited? Does this mean we should start killing people?

**** no, why would Elves do that?

We should keep trying, we should inspire citizenry to be more Elven both ICly and OOCly, and if they decide they don't want to take in elven culture we should suggest that they move to a culture more befitting of their attitude. We should do something other than complain about Antagonist attacks on our holds, we should impose more stringent laws and use the plethora of super-clerics wandering about to our advantage. I saw three clerics walking around, but none bothered curing the blight just outside the city in the willow forest.

We just need to find something to rally behind. So instead of a "Urgh" thread, let this be a rally thread. What should we rally behind Malinor?
