The United Kingdom was experiencing great change...

David Cameron, the Prime Minister of Great Britain, had been defeated, the Conservative-Liberal Party Coalition deciding that a new path was in order.

Sir Edward Leigh had replaced Cameron as Prime minister in the shocking recent elections that had swept across the nation that seemed to favor the Conservative Traditionalists. Citizens of Britain were tired of the high taxes, the restricted gun laws, the high crime-rates, and the economic troubles that plagued them. Although they had not endorsed the Euro completely, the affected nations in Europe harmed British trade and investments...

Queen Elizabeth, the second of her name, had finally died. Grand processions had been held in honor of the longest reigning monarch since Queen Victoria herself.

But now, a new era had begun, and as such, a new King had been crowned...

King Charles now sat upon the throne. But he had ideals and plans for the future of Great Britain, planning to take an extraordinary interest . Plans that he intended to implement with the help of the new Prime Minister...

Prime Minister Leigh and the King push for for the new Super-Conservative Oriented Parliament to approve and pass a new series of legislation, including such things as the repealment of the guns restrictions placed on police officers and the civilian population, devoting more funds to the Anglican Church, and attempting to restore the right of the British nobility's lords to be able to claim a seat in the House of Lords as long as they possess 300,000 Pounds Sterling in their bank accounts or more, in addition to their still validated landed titles.

The King also pushes for an increased naval buildup, as well as an increase in troop numbers in the Royal Army, due to the recent chaos that has afflicted Europe. (MOD ACTION REQUESTED)

On the international stage, the Prime Minister of Great Britain and the King review current events. Neither are pleased to hear about the Nazi regime taking over Sweden; they might offer diplomatic asylum to the royal family of the Swedes (IF the royal family were still alive), but otherwise, the British government would not be willing to do much at the moment.

The Prime Minister drafts a letter to the President of the United States, stating that they will accept the military alliance and stand by the Federal Government in the event of a second Civil War. Assurances are also made that they will support democracy in Europe however they can. Although the King and the British nobility would be taking a larger role in the politics of Great Britain, they were still a sound, constitutional monarchy with an elected parliament, and continue to support the same principles that the United States endorses. However, Increased Trade is requested between the United States and Great Britain, in hopes of providing further security in the economic void that has appeared in Europe.

Great Britain would offer Ireland the option to use the British Pound instead of the Euro to help boost their economy, assuming that they could prove to the British government that they had sufficient gold reserves and economical infrastructure to support the Pound. However, the British government would reserve the right to retract the right for Ireland to use the Pound if, for any time period over the length of 5 years, they are unable to support themselves economically, and are detracting from the value of the Pound. A Trade Agreement is also requested of Ireland.

The United Kingdom would also accept all Trading Agreements offered to it by any nation in the world, excluding the CSA, the Islamic Caliphate, Iran, and Sweden.

The Prime Minister, being a man of money, would also request a meeting with the Presidents of Switzerland to discuss methods of restoring Western Europe's economy, as they both seem to be the most financially secure countries left on the continent.

A Non-Agression Pact is requested of the Russian Federation, and a Trading Agreement is extended to them as well.

A Trading Agreement is also requested of Saudi Arabia, in hopes of securing future access to oil resources.

Finally, last but not least, the Commonwealth of Nations (Mostly NPC; Some Mod Action Requested) is called into session by the King of Great Brittain, and he requests that the former British colonies of the world stand together, by him, as they progress through these tough times. He asks that they all engage in an alliance with the United Kingdom, and with each other, so that they might better protect themselves from the new aggressors of the world.

MOD POST:

 

- Scandinavian Countries agree with the proposal made by Sweden, trading begins. Denmark tries to actively undermine the Swedish market by lowering their taxation.

 

- Belarus joins the Russian Federation proudly, Estonia arms its borders however, asking the USA for help against Russia.

 

- Austria joins the Union with Germany. However, citizens in the Tirol region and Vienna rise against this decision as they occupy government buildings and block the roads. Austria is too grand to have a liege!

 

- Montenegro and Macedonia merge with Serbia after the elections are successful. However: Greece, Croatia and Bosnia enter a coalition against Serbian imperialism. Turkey is meanwhile requested to aid a potential war effort against the Serbs.

 

- Taiwan is successfully undermined, and wish to join Japan as a solid ally. They call for Japanese aid to reclaim coastal area's that would belong to Taiwan.

~Switzerland~

 

The Foreign Affairs President accepts the deal proposed by  The United States, and replies over a phone call, "Our Defense President is being notified as we speak, and a public proclamation condemning Sweden's movements will be made shortly. As for your economists, they shall prove as great aids to further keep a balance on trade throughout Europe and across the Atlantic. Whatever they need to seal trade agreements with  other nations, within our overall national limit, shall be provided to them. Switzerland looks forward to a strong relationship with the True Americans of the United States."

 

After speaking with the USA President, he turns to his Media Team and begins a series of propaganda against Sweden to be released throughout Switzerland. They also begin work on the proclamation from the Swiss Government condemning Swedish movements.

 

The Economics President phones the British Prime Minister, telling them how Switzerland greatly accepts the wish to meet, and prepares a meeting schedule in only a few weeks when political discussions will be nulled for a short time. They also begin drafting a short term investment plan to all larger nations, except Sweden, in Europe, in hopes that the larger nations would prosper and thus cause the smaller ones to as well.

 

The Defense President is notified of the new American deal and alters plans slightly. More defenses are constructed on the Northern and Eastern mountain borders. Likewise, a Non-Aggression Agreement is sent to Russia and Germany, in hopes acts of violence will not be made.

 

Later on, a Research Agreement is sent exclusively to Japan, it details that Swiss Investors wish to invest in Japanese technology to advance modern living, healthcare, and an alternative to oil. The only thing the Swiss Government wishes in return is anything advanced with the funding is that a design is sent to Switzerland of the advancement to be used.

The Islamic Caliphate

Late in the year 2015, the attempted dismantling of the Islamic State was stopped in its tracks when the Kurdish Peshmerga suffered crushing defeat in their push for Mosul.

In 2016, the newly-invigorated caliphate struck back with a vengeance. The Kurds were pushed back nearly to the border with Turkey, where they were finally able to hold their lines. Meanwhile, the Islamic State's soldiers smashed into Syria, hammering their way through the fractured country to the sea and eventually to Damascus, where Bashar al-Assad was finally deposed. Months later, Baghdad fell as well, leaving the path to the Persian Gulf clear. By the end of the year, Iraq and Syria were firmly in the grasp of the caliph.

It took until the year 2018 for the governments of the world to respond. Assembling a coalition of American, European and Israeli troops, the UN attempted to take back the area from the extremists. It seemed inconceivable that an advanced western army could lose to a ragtag band of jihadists.

And yet they did. In the two years between the fall of Baghdad and the invasion, the Islamic State had had ample time to collect the war materiel left behind by the old Syrian regime and the American occupation of Iraq. They were well armed on the ground, they had acquired an air force which they used sparingly, and their numbers continually swelled with recruits from foreign nations. None of this was accounted for by the other side, and losses in the first few days to the UN were catastrophic. By the time the westerners managed to reach the gates of Damascus, the cost had grown too high. A retreat was ordered, and what should have been a liberation turned into a rout.

Since then, the Caliphate has been steadily growing stronger. Based from Baghdad, it accepts foreign Muslim fighters into its ranks daily, arming them with mountains of armaments strewn across the war-torn region. Kurdistan, now independent, quakes in its shadow. Jordan struggles to keep its borders as the caliph puts constant pressure on its outlying regions. Kuwait is constantly subject to incursions, and cries for help, defended by a minuscule UN peacekeeping force. To the region at large, Caliph Ibrahim has made his position clear: "Declare your undying loyalty to the Caliph, or be destroyed."

The demand was made peacefully to King Salman of Saudi Arabia some years earlier, and was refused. Of course, at the time, the US was far more powerful than it is today, and the Islamic State less so. Now the Caliphate appears as an existential threat to the north, controlling the combined armies of Syria and Iraq along with tens of thousands of foreign volunteers, with more on the way since their expulsion from countries such as Sweden. All of them are accustomed to war, and they fight with determination given by faith and loyalty to their leader. Since the original refusal, there has been a campaign of alienation against the House of Saud: they are vilified in many parts of the Islamic State, and jihadi movements within Arabia sponsored by the Caliph increasingly oppose the reigning dynasty.

Perhaps the greatest strength of the Caliphate is the number of sympathizers in the areas it lays claim to. In every Middle Eastern nation, there are those who wish for the continuing rise of the IS. But there are still more far flung supporters: Nigerian jihadis have long ago pledged their loyalty to the Caliph, and in India a growing Muslim insurgency has been causing more and more problems.

Nothing is certain in this heavily fractured region, to be sure. But with superpowers on the decline worldwide, and therefore a lack of foreign intervention, the odds seem grim for those in contact with the Islamic Caliphate.

Republic of India

President Anil, watched his nation grow and strengthen through it's corrupt stages. He watched as the corruption was weeded out in 2020, and watched as the population growth finally leveled off, as it became an economic powerhouse in the world. But, India still had it's problems, Anil knew of the housing problem and the ever growing food problem. The Muslim insurgency that was still growing was to be dealt with as well as the Maoist rebels that plagued both India and China. With that in mind China and Russia and Japan are both sent missives entailing a possible alliance and trade deals. 

 

With the every growing food problem scientist are put to the task to help with a Super GMO crop, this would take an extremely long time. With almost all developmental resources being poured into this one project it would be devastating to the Republic of India's government if it was sabotaged! (( 20 pages )) 

 

Anil, then ordered for the hunt for all these terrorist and rebels to begin, air security is beefed up, and check-points throughout India are built and a military force of 400,000 men go throughout the northern India clearing every village, city, town, countryside, and hill or cave around. With the influx of Bangladesh refugees, a force of 100,000 men are tasked with shutting down the border and rallying up all the refugees that have moved across to India to deport them back to Bangladesh.

The Japanese Empire

 

 

Emperor Naruhito has recently spoken at a press conference about what his plans for the 2040 decade will be.

 

"Asia is very disparate right now. Russia pushes around the Eastern powers and the Islands to Japan's south are rife with corruption. It is my goal for the rest of the decade of 2030 and the decade of 2040 to improve upon that. I have entered negotiations with multiple foreign states on finding ways to fix Asia, and I think that I see a path."

Japanese deals with the USA are allowed to tick down and end; the political Imperial Party remains cordial with the nation, but the Empire states it would not be in its best interests at the moment to keep outdated pacts. Trade is still almost as free as it was in the 2010's, though. Any troops still stationed in Japan are sent back free of charge to the USA.

 

The Swiss research offer is instantly denied, and Japanese researchers are banned from leaving the country to work for other governments.

 

The Japanese offer for Sakhalin to Russia is taken back, its offer of friendship once again removed.

 

India's offer of an alliance is accepted, and trade between the two open up more easily.

Hundreds of Polynesian and Micronesian island-nations are visited by Japanese destroyers, offered the chance to join Japan's new sphere peacefully. The High Chancellorship of Portugal

 

 

The new government of Portugal was now established, there would be one High Chancellor and a council of chancelors voted in by the populous, they would vote on matters of state while a new parliment also headed by the same high chancellor. The High chancello has Supreme power over the nation, he is voted from with in by the people but he must be a chancelor first. He has veto power over anyone and he is the supreme leader of the army.The Patriarch of Lisbon will be the new High Chancellor until the House of Chancellors and the Parliment are filled. The streets roar with cheers for Portugal, everywhere the anthem is played.

 

  

 

The Patriarch sits in his study as piles of messages pour in, he first takes a look at internal affairs:

He sees that many people are still unemployed. So he plans on building more industry and starts  re oppening new mines which were closed once the government sitched. The Russian Federation

 

The Russian Federation was getting active once again. With a national celebration for the re-unification of Belarus with the Russian Federation, a government is set up to function as an autonomous republic. Estonia however, got quite a different story.

 

 

The mobilized military on the Estonian border were met with Russian artillery. The Belarussian military would mobilize to the borders of Lithuania & Latvia, ensuring that these countries do not react. The Estonian government received a clear message, Russians will use force to reclaim rightful Slavic territory. Oddly enough, the Media in Russia was pretty silent about this.

 

Meanwhile President Vladimir Putin is going on a world tour, first starting his trip in Portugal. There, consolidated the agreements with the Lisbon administration and a new supply of outdated Russian equipment for them to use. In return, Russia received endless authority over their market. Investments and production everywhere, imported cheaply by Russia.

 

All eyes are currently on India as Putin is determined to create a solid friendship with India economically. With energy and military deals on his agenda, his state visit to New Delhi will mostly be swamped with negotiations and contracts. As renovations progress, negotiations with America in Moscow seem to come to an end. Just in time for Soviet Remembrance day. President Collier is expected to have a speech in Moscow as well. Sinn Féin have been elected by an overwhelming majority of the Irish people for the forth time in a row. The Irish people sought results after the failed governments of Fianna Fail and Fine Gael, they got what they asked for from Sinn Féin.

 

The economic failure of the euro has of course effected Ireland however they retain the growth that they've had for so many years after the original economic crisis. Sinn Féin have begin searching for a possible method of leaving the euro as a currency. They keep their eyes open for any existing currencies to adopt however ask the United Kingdom for some time to think of adopting the pound. They send a trade proposal to Italy and they accept Portugals. They also accept trade proposal to the United Kingdom and seek to maintain their good relations from recent years. More grants are provided to those who seek further education and those who want to farm the fertile lands of Ireland.

 

Sinn Féin sends orders to the generals of Ireland to recruit and train more soldiers while ensuring that their technology progresses with the in-depth study of drones. The navy of Ireland continue to protect the rich fishing waters to the west of Ireland.

Anders Natvik frowns at the several denunciations of Sweden. Sweden had done no harm by her neighbours. They sought only self-strength. His frown turned to laughter as he saw Putin's accusations. He made a globally-broadcasted address.

Russia's Reaction

 

 

"The Fascist Swedish state calls our administration corrupt, incompetent.  They fear the idea of democracy yet complain that ours isn't true. How hard is it to grasp the fact that our administration is not eclipsed with the aspiration to be re-elected. Why? The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia

 

King Muqrin analyzes current affairs, not particularly worried over the Russians. He makes an address on television, spoken in Arabic with English subtitles,

The speech ends and after several days, Murqin calls his military advisors.

 

"We will not fear this caliphate of infidels. They use the word of Allah to bolster their military goals and brazenly slander our precious Mecca. They continue to threaten the destruction of our most glorious Kaaba. We will increase the defense budget and strengthen our borders."

 

Economic Actions:

Saudi Arabia begins to focus on off-shore fishing and shell fishing for personal consumption, offering subsidies to sea farmers.

Saudi Arabia, finding Kurdistan a natural ally against the Islamic Caliphate to to its proximity to the Islamic Caliphate, the population of Kurds living in Syria and Iraq, and similar theocracy, offers a defense pact with Kurdistan. [Mod maybe? idk if there is a Kurdistan]

 

Saudi Arabia strengthens its northern border further with additional men and longer chain fences to keep the Islamic Caliphate back.

The Confederacy

 

Talks continued in Richmond, with nothing really seeming to change. Firebrands still spread their influence in American cities, and instigated fights and riots. In fact, the riots in Chicago, Atlanta, and New York were becoming so bad as to drag notice. The Federals were blocked from federalizing State Militia or sending in troops to Atlanta, and they managed to make it a State job. State Militia move into the city of Atlanta, to quell the unrest. As engineered, Firebrands don't resist and bid the Confederate patriots to back down. Of course others didn't pull to their stings and continued, but the State militia did it's job right and well. Moving in and peacefully breaking up the rioters, they made a good example. Their success is praised in the media, and the quick action showed to some Confederate efficiency and changed their minds. In Chicago and New York City however, the Firebrands did not melt away. Still acting as regular people, they resisted and had others do it with them. Molotovs and small arms fire drove away the cops, making it a deadly battlefield. Stores were looted and people murdered, in hopes to show Federal inaction. It was up to the president whether to send in troops or not, and the results would be large either way. Riots and unrest were spreading, some not entirely because of Firebrand meddling. America was generally taking a turn for the worst as tension and politics pulled it further and further apart.

 

Shipments of weapons from a foreign benefactor are smuggled in through New Orleans. Unmarked and modern grade weapons are soon in the Confederate's weapon pallet. Firebrands are given some, the rest tucked away into warehouses. The police and state militia in the south and other Confederate leaning states are mostly under their control. Through corruption, money, and moral views they have kept the grip tight. Passing acts for states to control more of their pay means they lose money but gain more loyalty. Money from political members and abroad is spent trying to transplant communities, buy loyalty, and maintain infrastructure in the south. Confederate influence is spreading through California, with San Francisco at it's heart. People still see themselves as Americans, just with different views. 

 

In congress, the Confederate party is pushing for a diplomatic change. They argue a royalist England means trouble for them. They were certain to cause issues in Europe, and why should the U.S meddle with it? They should focus on their own issues, and worry less about foreign policy. They also push for the passage of a total lift on the embargo of Cuba. The times were to modern, and the troubles long ago. A valuable trade partner, especially to the south, would help ease financial strain. In another attempt to effect politics, Confederates want a more lucrative set of deals with South American countries. They also argued America should make more revenue by selling it's surplus agriculture to states such as Saudi Arabia and India. 

 

Pierre Mountwalsh was from the french quarter of New Orleans, and a secessionist and Firebrand to the bone. Having joined the mysterious group five years ago, he rose from a hustler to leader of the entire operation. Jeb was annoying him with his middle path, but was something that could wait. Instead, he was too occupied with covert operations. Leaving instigation and escalation to his underlings in the U.S, he and his core group of people move abroad. In Panama they begin to merge with terrorist or rebel groups, trying to destabilize the government. With good quality arms and training, they begin to make a difference in the balance of power. In the United Kingdom, they begin to increase the tension. Muslim is pitted against Englishmen, adding powder to the keg. More importantly however is Firebrand support of the lower classes and liberals. How dare the King and his puppet even suggest that in 2038 they should have a return to English nobility claiming seats in the house of lords if they have enough money? That had opened people's eyes and with help from Firebrands and other organizations they were able to fight back speak out against the royalist. Striking and protesting were all for now, but the protestors numbers were growing against the royalist and King.

THE UNITED KINGDOM OF GREAT BRITAIN

 

 

Things were certainly getting intense in Europe...

 

It seemed that every other major European nation worth it's salt was giving their opinions about the Swedish situation, so the Prime Minister decided that an opinion from Great Britain was in order as well.

 

In a joint session of Parliament that evening, he summoned the media to record a speech that was to be given in the chambers. Leigh opened up the speech, intending to let the King speak after he introduced him to the Parliament.

 

 

"My friends in Parliament, today I and my good friend, the King, come to address you about a rather pressing issue on the international stage. We thank you for your support in creating a greater, better, safer, more financially sound United Kingdom, as shown by your recent passing of the bills that his Majesty and I so desired to be passed."

Applause is heard.

 

"In any case, I shall not steal his Majesty's thunder; I shall now turn over the mic to King Charles."

More applause in the chamber is heard as King Charles takes the microphone, and begins to address Parliament, a benevolent grin on his face.

 

 

"My friends... It is good to see all of you today. As the Prime Minister has said, we are utterly gracious for your support for our recent bills. However... I come to address another matter before you today."

The King's smile quickly turns to a frown.

 

"As many of you may know, Sweden has elected some rather... unsavory fellows, to their government. Officials of the Sweden National Socialist Party. They have dissolved an ancient monarchy which has endured for hundreds of years. They have abandoned their democratic principles in favor of sadistic radicalism. They have persecuted their Muslim population, as Adolf Hitler persecuted the Jews so many years ago in Nazi Germany, and their non-European immigrants.

 

What is next? Death camps? A Swedish 'Hitler Youth'? Anders Breivik has already been declared the equivalent to the Führer of Nazi Germany by the Swedish government; is it not logical to assume that they will drift into such a path as Germany did so many years ago?"

The King pauses for a second, fumbling with his notes.

 

"Therefore, I must denounce the actions of the Swedish government. The British people have had their moments of glory, and their moments of shame. But we have always acted in the best interest of the world, attempting to aspire to be a paragon of good. Almost one hundred years ago next year, Hitler sparked a war that nearly ruined Europe, and it took the world's three superpowers to put an end to it. Although it is the choice of the Swedish people as to whom they elect to their government, or what type of government they select, we cannot and will not stand for a National Socialist regime to attempt to conquer it's neighbors once again! If Sweden becomes an aggressor against it's neighbors... we must stand against it. And not just the United Kingdom, but all of Europe must as well!

 

But as long as they don't start another holocaust, nor expand southward beyond their current borders, we shall not have any quarrel with them... But God save them if they do."

 

The room thunders in genuine applause, the legislature proud of their King. The Prime Minister stands at his side, clapping as well.

In other international affairs...

 

The United Kingdom understands Ireland's reluctance to accept the British Pound as their national currency, but urges them to continue to consider adopting it to strengthen both nations' economies.

 

The ambassador to Saudi Arabia plans to meet with the King of their nation (Will Skype PM later).

 

The Prime Minister is delighted to hear that Switzerland is willing to cooperate with the British in restoring the European economy. He also believes that a military alliance between the Swiss Republic and the United Kingdom could be beneficial, as well as an economic one. Therefore, a military alliance and trading pact is offered to Switzerland.

 

The British Government fears for Iceland's (NPC) safety during this age of aggressors and unstable regimes; therefore, they offer Iceland membership into the United Kingdom as a territory. If they accept, they will be an autonomous nation with their own independent parliament, but will be able to reap the benefits of protection from the British military in exchange for access to their natural resources. If they accept, British troops and RAF fighters will immediately be sent to Iceland to build defenses on the island, and entrepreneurs would be encouraged to tap into the island's resources. If not, the British would still offer military protection to Iceland and still request trading privileges. (Mod Action Requested)

 

A military alliance and trading pact is requested of France (NPC).

 

The Prime Minister still awaits a response from the Russian Federation as to Britain's request for a nonaggression pact and trading pact.

 

Both the Prime Minister and the King wish to have a meeting with President Connier of the United States.

In domestic news...

 

The Traditionalist Conservatives would attempt to argue against the liberals and the lower classes, reminding them that the nobility continue to own much of Britain's land and control many of their economic resources, that the House of Lords still has many of the "common people" within it's ranks, and the fact that the House of Commons is a more powerful institution in any case.

 

They also state that Parliament is considering issuing strict reforms in the House of Lords. There be elections, in which half the population or more of an area must affirm that their lords are competent enough to claim the their seats in Parliament.

 

The party hopes that this will calm the liberals down...
