                                           General

 

The Cecaeliae are a race of sentient, carnivorous, some poisonous, and are almost anthropomorphic with a resemblance to cephalopods, which they in theory evolved from. They live in the depths of the ocean, where they hunt for fish and crabs of the like. Mostly, the Cecaeliae are independent creatures, living in clay jars, under rocks, in bottles, or wherever they can camouflage. Cecaelae have fairly flexible and rubbery flesh, causing lowered natural defense. However, some cecaeliae have brown sacs of pigment in their muscle that changes colors according to brainstate. This is how they communicate, aside from general body language.

                                   Biology

The cecaelia have around 3 main subraces. You have the Octo’crur, those who are based more off of octopi with eight legs, and have a blubbery, round lobe at the end with ‘hair’ follicles. There are the decum’crur, those who are squid-like, with two triangular tentacles in addition to the eight. There are the parva’crur who behave more like cuttlefish, are significantly smaller, and have a fleshy-flap across their whole side. Unlike their ancestors, their mouth is on their face. The Cecaeliae also have a hair-like substance atop their head, and can choose to grow it out. The more humanoid upper-body of the Cecaeliae seem to be a less intense and toned-down shade of their base tail color. They lay eggs in large abundance, but they die shortly after mating for the males, and after giving birth for the females. The Cecaeliae have a lifespan of up to around 3 elf years and have skin that can change texture.

        The Cecaeliae currently have not developed an exact relationship with the descendant races, other than fascination of the above world. The Cecaeliae as a whole see and treat each other in a positive manner, despite being independent as a whole but yet following the laws. However, some prefer to stay in a small town within ruins, or just a simple group of clay pots. The Consuls of Alakabantus are a group of 3 Cecaelia to represent each sub-race who deal with the political affairs and overall hold the most power in the system. The Cecaeliae have slowly developed lungs to be able to dwell in the upper world, which they use their noses to filter, and use the mouth for general gill activity. They use Guerilla tactics when fighting, and their lives are heavily influenced by the upper world. They like to deck themselves out in ‘Sea Glass’, and the consuls wear mask-shaped eye makeup.

-They have skeletons, just not on the tentacle part

-No nipples

-Believe the secrets of life lie above (They are probably going to believe in Allah, but this stuff is discovered

 through RP)

- do not speak Common (Will learn in RP)

- Differ from the Dry Octopus in appearance, but they will die from drying out if they stay out of water for too long.

- Open to tweak this lore a bit, if I didn't clarify enough

- Pupils are horizontal for 

visibility, but you can't really display that on skins.

-Are not related to Baleks death... Probably.

- Kinda like Octopus-Cervitaurs 

- their type is inspired on real-life Cephalopods, but Decum'Crur can be a deep blue because this is Minecraft.

It could be minor, like the Cervitaur, where they just kinda exist. They live, they breath, they do stuff, It's all good. I like me some diversity. Make things interesting. One could just squirm around in some jar filled with water and sell something In a major city, but still respect the consuls and exist within societal laws and stuff. Its all good.

Ah, that isn't what I meant. I just meant that I would prefer to be able to play as my own race, again similar to how Cervitaur work, I want others to enjoy the splendor that is the Cecaeliae. Unless you don't find it splendorous. Then I apologize. Anyhow, I'll try to find a better pic. The least I can do. Anyhow, I feel that these guys would make a good roleplay opportunity.

I disagree with you Megu. Players should be submitting lore they are passionate about and that they want. If they don't want it then why write it? I will always encourage players to create detailed lore for themselves to use and share with the community. That is why I wrote lore for arcane shielding, evocation, shifting. I wanted something in LOTC and wrote the lore to support it.

As for this idea I kind of like it mainly due to the fact that they could fit into LOTC with the recent events in Vailor regarding the Devourer, a colossal kraken creature. To further this piece of writing I would delve into a bit of the history of these creatures and maybe tie them into the Devourer to add intrigue. I would also expand on your culture/society section.

I can't remember the last time someone submitted lore without intention of using it personally.

Well, maybe SupremacyOps. But he's a lore-obsessed masochist.

 

I like it. Put it as a creature for anyone to play. The massive red-lines will make it unattractive to those not dedicated enough. Nautical RP FTW!

 

Also, yes, tieing them into The Devourer would be an excellent creation story. Make them into a faction that opposes it, or created it, or maybe even worships it. That **** sounds awesome.

I dont like the idea of a new race at all to be fair. Too many different ones and this would be one of those "you must have permission" from so and so to play one. It'd have too much OOC restrictions that it'd make it unplayable and just downright not fun.
