Best advice I can give is don't try to 'win' anything. 

 

Simply log in and role play.

 

Going into something with an ooc goal that may not happen will only sour your experience. 

 

Make goals and plans based off the experiences you encounter and the people you meet along the way.

I'd say everyone is trying to win, which is why I voted yes for clarity. RP is about story, story requires conflict, conflict in a gaming sense within this community means competition.

 

To imply that trying to win is a bad thing, is a twisted argument. Those who think winning is bad, don't win enough, and don't show the initiative to learn from their losses and move on from them. So instead they complain, stall OOCly, waste moderators time by lying and tossing the chain of command in the air for their faction so they need to bounce around and try and get some accountability, then the side who in many cases is fairly winning gets frustrated and pushes for more, thus making their side unreasonable in turn when they previously weren't, etc. etc.

 

The real issue is people don't know how to lose.

I would agree, but I don't think Oren will ever win- They've forgot about the science per unit killed you get by adopting every Honour social policy, so while Oren has been going for the domination victory the Orcs have utilized this near constant war so that they are atleast 5 techs ahead- Going straight for Krughattan.

Is Oren trying to win the server?  Yes.

 

Does that have to be a problem?  No.  Admittedly with the almost constant warclaims and such, it can get pretty annoying, but I think everyone's focusing on making their own RP enjoyable.  If Oren enjoys being in power, I'm okay with it, as long as they're not salty OOCly and make RP enjoyable.

 

And let's be real, any other race would be trying to "Win the server" if they had Oren's numbers and power.

I've moved past complaining oocly. Dwarves will counter oren in a war attempt every couple months and we will get stomped but hold out somehow. Then it'll repeat oren will fight itself then pick another group to pick on. It's just a cycle

That's a pretty harsh generalization when druid RP thrives in linandria & sutica, arcane magic has bastions in norsethonn (admittedly dead) and Haelun'or, and Oren has a knight enchanter and his group of arcane cronies. the spooks and their spooky magics have a hub in the black sun base, and holy magics are accepted everywhere.
