Mattington would lament the death of a true strongman of the faith.  He'd remember Rory not only a promising pontiff who would have brought lasting reforms to the church, but as a crusader against the undead and a true friend.  He'd sign the lorraine cross across his chest.

A broken old man sits in his leaking tenement room, covered in a layer of dust as he hadnt moved in some time, doing naught but listening to the world outside. Before too long here hears of the Pontiffs death, a thin hand clawing in anger, thinking to reduce that same rotting ghoul that served for no logical reason, to cinders, before relaxing his hand. "No, dont have the fight in me anymore... that rotten ***** will get whats coming one day."

Ludwig set down his pen and shut his eyes when a young page boy delivered the missive on the High Pontiff’s demise. His office hung silent, but for the distant sounds that carried over from Quarryville as men hurried the reconstruction. He had only met Rory twice, but the man’s passion was clear and absolute. The Arch Chancellor rubbed his temple. Had circumstances been different, he believed things between them would not have ended in such an explosion of anger.

“I will not begrudge him.” He says as the face of the Pontiff and those of the Haensetic people who raged against him in the ruins of the Western town crossed his mind.

"B-b-b-b-b-but Courland is peaceful?!?" The young Courlandic peasant Gregory questions shaking his head. His father Hamele put his arm around his son and replied "I fought against Oren to end the tyranny and oppression that they placed upon the world, but it seems King Tobias was not truthful, they were not the oppressors...We were." Hamele looked to the many keeps looming on the horizon of the Asul plains "Emily!" Hamele called out to his wife "Pack your things, we need to leave this place. I no longer feel safe living in a kingdom where the armed guards that are supposed to keep us safe, murder unarmed old men." With that the next days were spent packing Hamele and his family left the dangerous kingdom of Courland behind, for sunnier days elsewhere.

The young Manuel Palaiologos would appear physically shaken upon hearing the news, perhaps this True Faith was not for him and perhaps Courland could not be his home either. He put his shabby cloak around his shoulders and headed out the door to walk and think about his future that had seemed so settled just the day before.
