King of Cartography 545 Popular Post Share Posted May 10, 2020 Hello my poor and talentless friends, today I take my vengeance on the actual artists by showing YOU how to make some art You need two things to get started: Paint.net, this is a great image editor, it does more than MSpaint, but it’s not as complicated as Photoshop or GIMP, and it's completely free! you can download it at https://www.getpaint.net/ Appropriate expectations, If you do this right you'll end up with something pretty cool Let's make art for our character, his name is Angus McRedeyes, he is known for 3 things He has a big beard He has red eyes He never wears a shirt Any art that doesn't meet this criteria is a complete failure Okay, let's get started, for step one we are going to google to steal someone else's work, let's google Medieval Warrior man and look at some prospects Wow! This guy looks good, let's use him! But he doesn't have a big beard and he doesn't have red eyes, we'll have to fix this in Paint.net Open up Paint.net, load in the image and use the magic wand to remove the background, you'll end up with this Perfect! now it's time to add the beard, let's find an awesome one! oh yeah, that’s just right, download the image and open it up in paint.net! Then go back to the main image and add a new layer, you can do that by pressing the + button in the bottom left corner Now it's time to go back to the beard image, select it with CTRL+A, then copy it with CTRL+V, then paste it on the main image, but be sure to be on the right layer! After that you can resize and move the beard so that it fits on the face. Perfect! this is starting to look just like our character, but his eye color is ALL WRONG, let's fix that next Create a new layer and use the Lasso select tool to draw circles around the eyes https://gyazo.com/0a6c51951681c4ccd877f10a004b6e6d Then take the paint cannister and fill those boys up with some nice red color https://gyazo.com/ce7b369d50b6be24ce86485cf7a3de7d Now for some advanced image editing Go to effects → Blurs → Gaussian Blur and click on that, then select a radius between 10-20, click ok to continue Then double click on the layer and switch the mode to OVERLAY After that is done, use the eraser to remove the areas that don't need to be red I ended up with this Perfect! he has no shirt, a big beard, and red eyes! this is just like our character, now all we need is a background! But first let’s merge all the layers together so we can copy and paste Angus later Select every layer you added and press this button to merge it onto the next layer Now let's add a background, our character lives alone in a dark castle because his friends stopped playing LOTC months ago and now he's run out of minas to pay taxes and this is the only thing he has got going for him in his life so he's desperate to find a new way of paying taxes Let's go back to google! Oh man! this image is JUST PERFECT, download it, and open it up in paint.net Create a new layer on the background image, select Angus and paste him on it, you’ll probably get a warning because the background image is smaller, so select Expand Canvas Then you have to resize Angus and move him around to a place you like, I put him like this If you have an expanded Canvas You just need to crop the image, this is very easy, click on the RECTANGLE SELECT tool and draw a big around your work of art, use the Crop to select tool, i’ll show you where it is in the next image After that Merge the layers again and save the file, let’s look at my result Now at this point you’ll probably laugh and say that I made a joke tutorial as a complete and utter meme, because this is absolutely terrible But my friends, with the power of Deep Learning we’re going to turn this into something decent Go to this website https://tenso.rs/demos/fast-neural-style/ select your image and click upload Here’s my output This is not nearly the best image I’ve gotten when using this technique, but it’s okay Here’s some more examples of stuff I’ve made Spoiler Thanks for reading and good luck with your newfound art skills i hope you liked my guide thank you and good night

Chryasor 269 Share Posted May 11, 2020 Unironically a good introduction into photobashing, a technique that can be far expanded into actual works of art with better software and some effort – look up Johnson Ting on Artstation and youtube if you want a good idea of what photobashing can do

The goal here is to have something that looks decent enough for a roleplay post and have it be done with in 30 minutes. Also paint.net is amazing and i’ll keep saying that until I go to the grave, at work I sometimes have to use GIMP for simple image editing and it’s an absolute nightmare I hate it so much. I pray for the day there’s a paint.net version for Ubuntu 19 minutes ago, Nozoa said: aha time to scam people and plagiarize art! jk lol unless... Yessss yesss!!!
