On the Treachery of Oren and Savoy. HIS HOLINESS EVERARD VI, High Pontiff of the Church of the Canon, Archbishop of Visigia, Successor of the High Priesthood of the Church, Supreme Pontiff of the Church of True Faith, Keeper of the Canon, Missionary to Aeldin, High Servant to the Exalted's Testaments, Humble Servant of the Faithful and Vicar of GOD. “You will know him, for with peace he gathers the sons of Horen, where the sword has divided them.” (Gospel 7:53) Most Beloved Brethren, Health and Pontifical Benediction. God weeps this day, for a tragedy has struck the Church. The son of Philip Aurelian has been misled. For even when the body of his father has not yet gone cold, the young son turns and points an accusatory blade toward the very soul of Humanity, the lifeforce which keeps the children of Horen united: our faith. In believing in the falsehoods of treachery told to him by false prophets, Philip III has put more faith in paranoia and falsehoods than the Church of GOD, and has, in so doing, endangered the countless souls which reside in the Orenian Empire. Souls, who but months ago, deemed him their savior. He, who We crowned Emperor but two Saint’s Days ago. We extend this pity to the false Prince of Savoy, whose own coronation by Us was cut short by schismatics. Woe to them, whose reigns have not been blessed by God! For if We are an illegitimate Pontiff, then who is it that would have set those crowns upon your heads? But if we are legitimate, then by your own deeds, you have made your crowns illegitimate, for you have lost the blessing of God, who alone grants power to sovereigns through Us. This is a grave moment in our history, and the Church mourns the choices of the young Emperor, who has chosen, for the second time, to abandon all precedent under the guise of a united Humanity. Nay, for his vision of such has been tainted by the lust of his own ambition. This false vision spurred by the false Prince of Savoy is as unfounded as their forced iteration of the Church built upon the whims of a murderer. It is a Church of deceit, whose paper thin walls will fail to withstand the march of time. Even when members of this Church attempted to take Our life, it was only through the works of the Haeseni Brotherhood of Saint Karl, led by Count Johann Barclay, that saved Us. Brother Maxim Attenlund personally escorted Us from the palace, while Lady Margot Sofiya brought Us a horse to take Us to safety. To believe in false whispers of sedition and to act with such extreme measures before any attempt to approach Us is to hide something of their own, and lie to their own people they claim to protect. The Church therefore expresses great concerns for the rest of Humanity, given the growing tensions between Haense and these schismatics. We pray that no blows shall be struck between the two bodies, as the blood that has already been spilt has been too much already. But we are no strangers to challenges of faith. Nay, for even now, the Holy Church of the Canon shall not back down meekly and muffle Our own voice. We call on all Humanity to not fall prey to the gilded lies of this corrupted government and to see the truth of their hideously selfish intentions, for verily, in every proclamation published against Us, Philip III acts as the mouthpiece of Iblees. We make it clear that those of these governments are to henceforth be excommunicated from the Holy Mother Church. We offer clemency to all those that can see the corrupt nature of this false Church, and extend such an offer of forgiveness to those of these aforementioned governments which denounce this blatant seizure of power that does not belong to them. May God grant all the wisdom to see the folly of this false Church. To the false Pontiff Michael I, We remember when We made you a bishop. We kept you as Bishop, despite the constant bickering of the former Prince of Savoy, who begged for Us to remove you. Yet We kept faith, believing you to be a good and pure servant of God, one interested in preaching the word than seeking personal glory. We see now that We were wrong, but like God who forgave Owyn for murder, We too shall forgive you. May God bless His Holy Church, and grant Us the wisdom to continue fulfilling His will. louislxix 3066 Share Posted December 8, 2021 The Duke of Vidaus kneeled in the Church of Blessed Dmitry, uttering prayers for the true-to-faith canonist Pontiff. His prayers however ended in those commonly spoken by those of the Brotherhood of Saint Karl, deliberating on the inclining tension on Almaris. Uttering his final "Amen," Ailred then pushed himself from the blade that propped him up and prepared to travel to Karosgrad, an eager look to his face. The former Marshal twirled his sword at entry to the city, nodding at the soldier manning the gate @seannie "A pretender backed by traitors, is a traitor himself, nie?"
Sarmadonn 652 Share Posted December 8, 2021 'Danger' Dougal MacDuff, the five-time Champion of Lallybroch and rightful Grand Champion of Karosgrad, smiled a toothless smile as he struggled to read through the missive. "Godan is good," he said, before going back to bloodying his knuckles against the head of his training dummy, the likeness of which bore a striking similarity to that of Oliver Renault.
Herod 802 Share Posted December 8, 2021 Kaustantin was in the middle of writing his first letter to Eirik after he had resigned, yet as his daughter came into the room with this missive, he read it thoroughly and chuckled, continuing to write his letter. “To Eirik, My dear cousin, as much as it pains to see that you ought to lead our Nation into war during the start of your term. Remember it is not for nothing, when a bunch of southerners rabble about uniting man, you ought to remind them about the sturdiness of the sons of Joren, whom fought the bitter cold and a harsh environment to do their bidding alone. I shall write to you more, my daughter beckons me with another missive regarding an ambitious and corrupt Barclay, attempting to grasp onto the ambition of Tylos the First yet starting so poorly. Erwin, Manfred and Wilhelm must be all laughing at the imbecile from the skies, whilst applauding you and cheering you onwards for the inevitable great crusade to hunt Imperials. I shall write more cousin, that I assure. Sincerely yours, Kaustantin.”

Mady 3067 Share Posted December 8, 2021 "Oh ma godan..." Margot Baruch muttered as she finally arrived back home from Savoy, her horse Hamish missing, along with the scuffed heel of her shoe just about falling off. "Things are gettin' a little wild up in Almaris."
frankdh 2255 Share Posted December 8, 2021 "This is a dark time for Humanity," August would murmur, the cardinal standing in the cathedral of Providence. "When the heart of Humanity, our faith, is impaled so wantonly for selfish gain, it is only a matter of time before corruption takes hold and infects the body."
erictafoya 2309 Share Posted December 8, 2021 From the Barony of Otistadt, one Robert Ludovar, sits in his rocking chair, creaking loudly and often as the wood could barely support his own weight. The Baron had a disgusted look on his face as he read the missive, scoffing "Of course the ******* Savoyards overthrew His Holiness. Never trust a Savoyard, I say!" he said to his son, Johann. "See why I don't like the fuckers? Do vy see Johann?? I should have kept that bastard Olivier's wig...."

monkeypoacher 6993 Share Posted December 8, 2021 Aubergine copies the line "to abandon all precedent under the guise of a united Humanity," leaving it in his notes as a quote of high praise for the Emperor's inevitable hagiography.
LightTheTrainer 464 Share Posted December 8, 2021 Jordan Cardinal Jorenus remembers the days in which the Bishop San Luciano, now the false Pontiff, was not even known to be the Bishop of his own diocese. "How strange," he thought, "Only but a few years ago did the Prince of Savoy ask that I, as according to my own wishes, be replaced as the Bishop San Luciano. How times change." He stood then, preparing his own quarters in St. Henrik's Basilica, should Everard VI wish to stay there, "Onleh 'un Pontiff fer me." He remarked to himself, fluffing the pillows. It would be good to see his old mentor.
